QUIDDITCH SCRIMMAGEAPR. 5th 2024 It's a light showers day in April, to start, but as the game goes on the rain picks up. The two teams are a mix of houses. The crowds have gathered to watch the Quidditch players get a game in, since Quidditch has been cancelled! Tensions are high since they haven't really been able to take out their quidditch aggression lately. ___________________________________________ You have THREE DAYS to post after the person before you. Refer to the OUTLINE to know which section you are writing and what that entails! Feel free to start your own threads watching the game in the Quidditch Pitch board for anyone else as well. If you have any questions, ask Suzie.

SUZIE @carleigh Due By the 18th It was here! Finally! The Quidditch scrimmage that literally everyone (herself included times a million) had been waiting for. As much as she loved the idea behind the tournament, cancelling the regular season Quidditch matches was a little silly, and everyone was forced to idle around like a bunch of loonies because they couldn’t burn off their steam. She felt bad for the seventh years because they lived and died for the sport. But not as much as she did. The best part about this scrimmage? Half of the team she was on was also Gryffindor. The whole Chaser line consisted of the usual suspects. There were a few problems Lily had with that though. The first was that she had wanted to play on the same team as Jamie, and since this was the last match the Hufflepuff would be playing in, that was kind of a letdown. The second problem was that Lily knew CJ was a dang good Seeker. And she was on the other team. So was Ripley, but the confidence of having her own house’s seeker at her back was completely gone.
After a sugar fueled breakfast, Lily hopped, skipped, and jumped her way down to the Quidditch pitch. She had to be there as early as possible to get ready that way she could get the team pumped up. The Gryffindors already knew the spiel, but it was the other ones that would need a little getting used to it. Especially Eddy. He was always so serious! For a Keeper and a keeper, he needed to loosen up a bit. Jumping jacks always helped her out, so team stretches sounded like the plan to follow. Upon arriving at their team’s locker room, Lily threw on her jersey and gear and got ready for the rest of the team to arrive. They were going to get a speech like they had never heard before!
Bouncing around the locker room as everyone else got ready, Lily was sure that she had sufficiently annoyed everyone enough to get them moving. Talking smack about them and the other team was an amazing tactic to get them angry at the right people. Usually that was easy between houses, but took a little more effort this time with the three teammates that she didn’t know. Understanding how they ticked didn’t take long, and with that completed, she hopped up onto one of the locker room benches. “To victory!” She shouted before hopping back off, picking up her broom and heading out onto the pitch. In a matter of minutes, she was finally going to be able to zoom around and play Quidditch!
As they got to the center of the field, Lily noticed that it was raining lightly. There had been discussion of the possible gloomy forecast, but she had pretty much ignored it past that. Playing trumped the weather, and she wasn’t going to let it put a damper on her mood. The other team had arrived at the center of the pitch as well, and Dom, her cousin, not to be confused with the ugly mug that belonged to the hot-tempered man-beast, was trying to say something to both her and Roxy. Lily ignored it, instead sticking her tongue out at the Ravenclaw. Right now she had to continue to get the team pumped up, offering words of encouragement and not berating Ed too much for looking like a nervous wreck. Up into the air they went, the balls followed, and the scrimmage match began.

Carleigh stood there in the stands and was watching the game. Yes there was light rain and she hoped it didn't get worse. She didn't want her twin to get sick because of the weather. But what could she do? Even she had a chance of getting sick. She watched the quaffle go back and forth for a bit. She wished that she was playing with her twin. She was after all normally a beater and she had tons of fun when she's in the air. It felt like half the time just her and the air but it was more fun with others in the sky with her. She watched her brother fly and hit the Bludger and hoped it never hits him at the same time. She watched the Alpha get the Quaffle and smiled a bit and screamed and shouted when the Quaffle went into the big golden hoop. "YAY! GO ALPHA!" she shouted as she threw a fist into the air. @roxanne your turn

The Alpha side had an advantage over the Omega team - their Chasers had played together for years, and had a full playbook of well-practiced skills. They were a team, and Roxy knew they could take advantage of it. As Dominic passed the quaffle to Thalia, Roxy called out "Double P!"
And they were on the move, showing the Wigtown Wanderers how it was done. Lily came up on Thalia from the left, and Roxy from the right, boxing her in and straight towards Madison in the middle. Jamie was trying to get through, and Roxy was getting ready to use her elbows before a bludger came flying past, forcing Jamie out of the way. Dominic was after Lily (of course) but Ripley - bless those Krum genes - dove between them, blocking him from getting in the way of the play. The three of them were barrelling towards Madison, and right on cue, she snatched the ball from Thalia.
And there was a bludger at Roxy's side coming in fast from a glimpse of red hair she knew must be Dom, and Roxy had to move fast to dodge it. The bludger sought her out again, and Roxy made a bigger swerve to shake it. Finally free, she looked up just in time to see the quaffle fly through the hoop and Lily cheering her success. "Way to go Lily!" she called out, and set herself to figuring out what Omega would do to retaliate.

Anyone who knew Jamie knew that she loved Quidditch – it was kind of hard to be the captain of the flying club and her house’s Quidditch team and have people still doubt her commitment to the sport. One of the things she loved most about Quidditch was the adrenaline that she got from being in the air. She had never dreamed of flying when she was a kid, because it had seemed impossible. Even when she had learned it was a possibility, Jamie had thought that she, being a werewolf, would somehow be disallowed from the sport. But none of that had happened, and Jamie had taken to the air like a fish to water. One of the worst things about Quidditch, though, was that it brought out a side of Jamie that not much else did. The Hufflepuff wouldn’t qualify herself as nasty, exactly, but she was definitely meaner than she normally was, due to her fierce desire to win. Because of that, the way the pickup Quidditch game was going so far wasn’t really to her liking. The other team had already scored twice, and while Jamie was proud of Lily for making a shot, she was a bit miffed that Zita hadn’t been able to block either attempt at a goal. Jamie knew that Zita was better than that, and if this was a Hufflepuff practice, Jamie would have asked the other girl what was throwing her off of her game.
The past was the past, though. Jamie didn’t intend to lose this game, which meant that she needed to start making up the goals they were behind, and try to pull ahead. She wasn’t sure how long the game would last before the Snitch was caught, but if they could get a full hundred and fifty points ahead so the other Seeker could catch the Snitch and Jamie’s team could still win? That would be the dream. Not a very realistic dream, but a dream nonetheless. Getting the goal required first getting the Quaffle, but Jamie had calculated the trajectory of the Quaffle – probably better than Zita had – and was able to scoop it up before any member of the other team could get it. The next order of business was making sure that she’d actually be able to get to the goal. The other time their team had had possession, Dominic had been foiled by a well-placed Bludger, and Jamie would rather she not go the same way. Jamie caught Dominique’s eye from nearby. The redhead moved her head in a barely perceptible nod, and Jamie knew the Ravenclaw girl would have her back. She trusted Dom. To Jamie’s surprise, it wasn’t just Dominique who sought her eyes – Thalia did, too. Even though the other girl was a Chaser, not a Beater, she apparently had tricks up her sleeve to keep the other team from getting in Jamie’s way. If Jamie trusted Dominique, then she would lay her life at Thalia’s feet. They had been friends since first year, and people just weren’t friends for seven years without building some kind of trust up.
Secure in the fact that she would get the goal or fall off her broom trying, Jamie rounded her broom and leaned over, trying to make her body as aerodynamic as possible. She wasn’t expecting to be able to outfly the other team by any means – her broom wasn’t that good – but even an extra second or two could make all the difference when it came to scoring. As she moved across the field, Jamie could faintly hear Lily yelling something, though whether it was at her or at her own team, the Hufflepuff didn’t have a clue – the combination of the wind from flying at such a high speed and the light patter of the rain weren’t exactly ideal conditions for hearing. After noting what Lily was doing, Jamie took stock of the other players. Dominic was at her right, and just a little bit behind her – a combination of a shield and a backup plan if Jamie started getting Bludgers hit her way. It was a smart strategic move, and it made Jamie smile a little. She didn’t think it would be necessary, though, considering Daniel and Dominique seemed to have the Bludgers well in hand. The only thing that was slightly worrisome to Jamie was that Roxy was right on her tail, though the Gryffindor was neither gaining or losing ground. The real trouble would come when Jamie had to maneuver to make a goal. If the Gryffindor Chaser got in her way, then things could get dicey.
Just as Jamie had that thought, she heard the soft thump of a Bludger making contact with something. Jamie didn’t risk another look behind her, focusing instead on the goal ahead. Jamie threw Edmund a casual wink as she barreled towards him, and then moved as if she was going to pass to Dominc. That plan worked out better than she had anticipated – the Slytherin boy dived towards Dominic’s side of the goal, leaving the left hoop wide open. Jamie wasted no time in throwing the Quaffle through, making a soft whooping noise as it went through and a bell clanged to announce the score. Jamie finally looked behind her, giving Dominique a large thumbs up as thanks for keeping her protected through the duration of her sprint across the field. That was one goal down – only one more to go until the teams were tied up.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @cameron due Aug. 24 words 000 notes anything here. | Asha was in the stands beside her best friend Carleigh. She was excited about the match because quidditch had been canceled that year due to the tournament. It was highly anticipated right now. Before the game started it had started raining some. She hoped it wouldn't get worse than this as the rain always made it difficult to see. The match had begin and everything went crazy. She watched as alpha got the ball. That was the team Carleigh's brother Cameron was on. She cheered for him and his team, but she didn't really have any favorites in this game. As she watched Omega got the ball. She thought they would score but Alpha got the ball back and made a goal. She cheered for alpha not really having a preference. She knew Carleigh would.
Omega got the ball after the goal. She felt bad for them when alpha got the ball back and scored again. It sucks being scored on twice. She enjoyed the nice routine that the alpha chasers did. She noticed Cameron had aimed a bludger at Jamie to keep her from getting the ball. She smiled knowing he had never played that position before. The rain started beating down more. She shrugged into her hoodie more to try and keep most of the rain off of her. She watched one beater target Lily Potter on the alpha team. She saw Cameron and Cece try to keep them off of Lily but that let the rest of the players open to the other beater that was out there. She looked at the omega chasers and just as she looked they scored a goal. She cheered glad they finally got a point.
It wasn't long before Omega got the ball again. She watched as they went for another attempt at the goal, but Edmund made sure it didn't go in. She didn't know if she should cheer or boo. It was hard routing for both teams.

[googlefont="Kranky:400;"] tagged @crimson1 due august 28th words 000 notes anything here. | Why quidditch had been canceled that season was beyond him. Cameron knew that the tournament needed people’s attention and all, but quidditch could have taken place. It wasn’t that big of a deal to have both events going on. Now he got what he wanted. The school was putting on a quidditch match. Students who wanted to participate got split into two teams. He didn’t get keeper which is his normal position for Ravenclaw. He was put into the match as a beater. He practiced some before the day of the match. He wasn’t used to being a beater and he wanted to do a good job, plus he didn’t want to hurt anyone.
The day of the match came and Cameron was getting ready. He was put onto the alpha team. They walked onto the pitch and it started raining. It wasn’t hard or anything but Cameron still put a spell on his glasses to keep the water off them. He wanted to be able to see. Everyone flew up into the air and the quaffle was released. The game began and in an instant, everything went crazy. This is what Cameron liked though. The game was a way to get rid of stress and there was nothing like flying in the air.
He tried to pay attention to the players and where the bludgers were at. He knocked a few away and towards the Omega team. He noticed that his team scored after stealing the ball. A smile crossed his features but he knew it was too early to rejoice. It was only the first goal of many. It didn’t matter how many goals they got anyway. The winner of the match would most likely be whoever caught the snitch.
He noticed Omega get the ball and he hit a bludger toward one of the chasers, Jamie Greyback to be precise. His team got the ball back and scored again. He smiled. He was glad he was doing good at this. The rain started pouring harder and he hoped this wouldn’t affect the game in anyway.
One of the omega beaters, Daniel he thinks the kids name was, kept aiming bludgers at Lily. He tried to keep them off her along with the other beater Cece. Lily finally yelled at them to quit and watch the other chasers to. As soon as she yelled that to them omega scored. He sighed. Omega almost scored again but Edmund blocked it. He smirked glad that the ball was blocked. He knew Edmund was a good keeper. He saw the alpha chasers taking the ball to the goal only to have it blocked. He sighed and watched though as alpha intercepted the ball. He noticed Roxy was in trouble and started heading toward her to hit any bludger away from her.
Before he made it he collided with Daniel, an omega beater. As soon as they hit though Cameron’s glasses fell of his face. He sighed as he was blind without them. He turned his broom downward and sped after his falling glasses. He grabbed them in time to straighten his broom up before hitting the ground. He put them back on but sadly they were broken on one side. He sighed and went back up to the game. He would have to fix them later.

Quidditch was the one thing that always cleared Daniel's mind or more truthfully just preoccupied it. He wasn't thinking about the situation he was in or the constant annoyed feeling he always had. no, on the field and on his broom all he cared about was playing Quidditch to the best of his ability. Since he had come to Hogwarts he was torn between his desire to play Quidditch and the fact that he didn't feel right joining the Gryffindor team, he never felt like a Gryffindor and the team was full already. Daniel just didn't feel right attempting to take a spot from someone else, even if he got the spot cause he was better it would only cause problems with that person and with the team. He didn't need those problems in his life but when he heard about the scrimmage he jumped at the chance. Only once Daniel was on the field just before the start of the game did he realize he barely knew the names of most of the people playing with him. Both on his own team and the other side as well. Still that wouldn't stop him, all Daniel needed to know was who to defend and who to try and hit with Bludgers. The game started and everyone was off, Daniel included as he followed the chaser with the Quaffle either defending them if his team had it or trying to knock any bludgers he could at the chaser if it was the other team.If anything Daniel always got caught up in playing and not so much the score, yet he couldn't help but be aware that the other team was ahead of them. All Daniel could do was try and slow down the Alpha chasers as he kept looking for Bludgers to send back at Madison, Lily or more precisely right now Roxy. While focusing on hitting her with any Bludgers around he turned to follow her. At the same time the other teams beater possibly trying to protect Roxy had been turning as well. Daniel just barely noticed him before they both slammed into each other's side. It hurt but it wasn't near as bad as a bludger felt most of the time. Daniel was about to say something to Cameron about hitting him but he was already flying toward the ground. He wasn't sure what the alpha beater was doing till he watched him just barely catch something shiny before pulling up and avoiding the ground. Once Cameron was back up Daniel could see that what he was chasing was his glasses which had been knocked off when they collided. He had almost felt bad about it before Cameron gave him a rather mean look. "Well watch where you're going next time!" Daniel yelled over to where Cameron was, he really should have been focused on the game and was about to till Cameron yelled back about how it was his fault his glasses were broken now. "Maybe if they were thicker lens you could see someone flying and not run into them!" Daniel replied. The game kept going on but now these two were yelling at each other which lead them to start flying closer. Daniel couldn't remember who shoved who first during the yelling match but he assumed it was him but it only took a few shoves before everyone else on both teams must have noticed and members from both teams came to break up the fight. rose harriet granger-weasley due August 28th

Rosie wasn't a fan of the Tri-Wizard Tournament for a few reasons, the biggest of which was because it meant that Hogwarts had canceled their Quidditch season. As someone who had aspirations in the ever competitive world of Sports Journalism, missing out on her last year of portfolio work by not having any Quidditch matches to report about left her a little bored, not to mention the damage it caused to the sports section of the student newspaper. She had been giving away pages in her section due to not having enough to fill them. There was only so many times she could run an interview with one of the champions or an overview of one of the tasks, especially since the tasks were few and far between.
Rosie was psyched to hear about a Quidditch scrimmage match where the teams were being selected randomly and people of all houses were going to be playing on teams together. She sat in the stands with the clumps of other students who missed Quidditch and came out for the match. It was slightly drizzling when the match began but Rosie knew that a Quidditch match stopped for nothing and rain certainly wasn't going to kill the day. She charmed her notepad to keep it dry and took play-by-play notes of the action on the pitch. 3 goals had already been scored and Alpha was currently in the lead, though the game was still anyone's for the taking. While the Chasers and Keepers had obviously been working very hard to get the game to where it was, it was two of the beaters that caught her attention.
One of the Alpha beaters, Cameron, a student which Rosie had met a few times, aimed a bludger at Omega chaser, Jame, one of Rosie's best friends. Rosie had full confidence in her friend, however, she couldn't let her bias show in her notes or article. Omega and Alpha both tried to score but the skill of their Keepers kept the game 2-1 with Alpha in the lead. Cameron, who had been tailing Lilly Potter, made the decision to cover another chaser, Roxy Weasley, however, on his way to the Gryffindor girl playing Chaser for Alpha, the Alpha beater collided with one of the Omega beaters, a Gryffindor boy named Daniel.
The whistle has been blown and time out has been called with the score at 2-1. Alpha will resume possession after the break.Rosie scribbled in her notepad before putting the hood on her raincoat up while the rain began to fall harder. April showers bright May flowers, that was true, however, rain always made Quidditch matches just a little bit more interesting. Rosie noticed Cameron was fumbling with broken glasses on the pitch and both teams seemed to be taking this time-out differently. Some seemed to be using it as an opportunity to rally and get ready to go hard in the next part, while other got involved in the spat below. Words were being exchanged from the beaters, mostly it seemed, from the Omega beater who blamed the collision on Cameron and seemingly felt no sympathy for the broken glasses, Rosie didn't blame him, glasses could be fixed and there were more important things on the line, like currently winning the match. Dominique Weasley and Cece Rousseau stepped into the spat but it was Roxy Weasley who pulled her beater aside and seemed to make it clear that they didn't have time for a fight. The time-out was running low and the two teams congregated back together, ending the spat and rallying for the plays ahead of them.

The time out was a much needed one in Madi's opinion. Not only it was raining too heavily, they all needed that moment ot gather up their wits. Dominique and Cece stepped up between the two beaters and settled the matter down. All in all, it was a good thing, and Madi was now much more fired up to get the game going. Their team had successfully gained two goals and she had been the first to score in the match which made her feel good. And now they had to make sure that the omega do not climb their score up. She was very much happy to have casted an impervious charm on her goggles which offered her better sight, but still it was difficult to see clearly in the rain. And the whistle was blown indicating that the time-out was over.
Both the teams were now ready and waited for the quaffle to be released again. Madi being the nearest, swooped in and caught the quaffle. She clutched it and began to make her way to the goals. She had to be careful and made sure that the rain doesn't dampen their chances of winning. She zoomed forward, hoping to either make the goal herself or pass it to the other two girls. She saw that Cameron was flying alongside her making sure that she could reach the hoops safely. Well, good going kid she thought internally as she was now more focused than ever to score. And just when she looked to her side wondering where the other two chasers were, she saw that Daniel aimed a bludger at Cameron. That was not worriesome at all considering that the kid was the one with the beaters bat. But she had to recheck her thoughts when she saw Cameron duck down. Oh bloody hell it was going ot come for her and hit her squarely if she is not going to react. And on instinct she called out loudly "ROXY" and tossed the quaffle towards the girl. And in the spur of the moment, she took a decision which was quite funny and plain idiotic. She took hold of Cameron's wrist and aiming sure that she aimed it away from the duo, she swung his hand and hit the bludger away. She heard the resounding crack when the bat connected with the bludger making it change it's course. Well, one problem down thought Madison.
Just as she saw where the quaffle was, Madi bit back a groan. it would seem that the omega chaser, Jamie was trying to steal it in the middle of the course. But in the end, Dominic had swooped in between and got hold of the quaffle before it even reached Roxy's hands. The rain was now much too heavy to recognize faces easily. She tried to make her way and try and get hold of the quaffle but it was getting difficult and before her very eyes, Dominic passed the quaffel to Thalia Wood and though Madi tried to intercept it she failed and the ball was in Thalia's hand. Taking a good aim, the girl tossed the ball towards the hoops and bingo, Thalia scored. The Omega scored, making them an equal with the alpha team at 20-20. Edmund could not catch it and Madi could see that the quaffle was getting slippery and the game was going to get much more difficult now.

Andy had actually decided to come to the game, only because Nat had agreed to go with her. She still wasn't entirely excited about having a crowd around her, but the noise wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Plus, she wanted to see some of her friends play. Yes, including Lily, who she wasn't incredibly close with but she knew that girl liked her Quidditch. Plus, Andy had a boyfriend leave once... but she was lucky that he came back. It wasn't looking like Adrian Greyback was going to.
The game started, and Andy was fully invested from the start. Lily scored, Jamie scored, the Gryffindor Chaser trio was using their skills Andy had seen before. She found herself cheering out loud when Edmund blocked the ball. Not necessarily cheering for either team, but it was a good save, worthy of praise. Then, of course, Daniel started a little kerfuffle. At least, that was how Andy saw it. She leaned back and folded her arms, turning to Nat, "that guy is the worst," she muttered. Andy and Daniel were... not friends.
Then, finally, the game was back in action. The next movement resulted in Thalia Wood scoring, and Andy gave light applause, trying to get back into the swing of being an audience member after being unhappily nostalgic about Daniel. Andy was steal leaning back when her eyes darted toward Ripley, the Alpha seeker. She must have seen the snitch because she was zooming downwards.
Andy slowly leaned forward, hoping CJ would too notice. She did! The Gryffindor girl started barreling after Ripley. They both moved toward the ground with incredibly speed. Andy couldn't see the snitch, not in this rain, but they must have otherwise they wouldn't be going so fast. Ripley was about to hit the ground and Andy winced in preparation, but she pulled up at the last second -- that's when Andy noticed the snitch. It shot straight into the sky. CJ pulled up in time too, and it seemed like they both had their eye on the ball...

The game was exciting so far, something that Dominique totally thrived on. She loved the thrill of the chase, the sneak attacks that happened and the amazing plays that the game allowed. It was a little strange to not be playing with her usual Ravenclaw team, but this wasn't bad. She approved of her team. They had a lot of good players that played for a while ... except for maybe her fellow beater. He moved and acted as though he played, so Dom was going to just trust him to do his job and try not to hover like the captain she was. Until he got in a fight. She approved of that, though she wasn't going to tell him until after the game. Daniel did a good job, even if it was against her teammate, Cameron.
By this time the score was even and Dom was basically trying to decide who to target. Something whispered to her to look left, where she saw her cousin Lily. Dom yelled at Daniel, gesturing that she wanted him to hit bludgers at her so she could try to unseat her cousin. Dom started following Lily as closely as she could, aiming at her every chance she got. At one point, she glanced to the side and saw Dominic doing absolutely nothing! (at least, he wasn't doing anything helpful, so it counted as nothing) "Dominic, get that Quaffle and get it in the goal!" She shouted, gesturing to her cousin in front of her.
To her surprise, he actually did as she said. Huh. Apparently he could follow orders. Dom smirked as she watched him swerve in front of her, come head-to-head with Lily. The two crashed together for a moment and though she was looking, she couldn't quite see what happened between them. What she did see was that Dominic came out with the ball. "There you go!" She shouted up at him, even though she was positive that would annoy him. During all of this, Daniel was still hitting balls to Dominique and she hurled them at anyone who headed in the direction of Dominic. She wanted a goal! There was no way she was going to lose this match. She didn't even notice that she and Daniel were monopolizing the bludgers, but if she thought about it she wouldn't have been surprised.
Right as Dominic was coming up on Edmund in the goal post, Dom looked across the field just in time to see a bludger heading straight for Jamie. It didn't even look like the girl had time to duck! Luckily for her, Daniel swooped in just in time (bless his heart. Dom was definitely glad to have him on her team), firing the bludger at Edmund instead. She grinned at him, delighted even more when Edmund jumped to dodge the ball and ended up missing the Quaffle when Dominic rushed in and shot just as the bludger came over. (good timing, Dominic!) Edmund came up to the hoops once more, glaring and Dom was pretty proud for keeping her comments to herself. She was super proud of her team right now. They were doing fabulously.
She looked back over when she heard someone singing. "What can I say except you're welcome!" It was Daniel. Dom didn't recognize the tune, but he sounded good as he teasingly sang to Jamie (that was obvious). Dom smiled as she turned back to the field, ready to go again. Her team was ahead and she wasn't going to let that change. At least, not easily.

There was something thrilling about being on her broom that Cecelia couldn’t quite place. She had always loved the sky, even if most people didn’t seem to notice her love for it, so being on a broom had always felt good for her as far as flying went – she was in the place that she was most comfortable. High towers and windy meadows did much the same thing, since they blurred the lines between the earth and the sky above, but there was something about being on a broom, surrounded by blue (or in this case, grey – though really, Cecelia didn’t mind being surrounded by that, either), that couldn’t be beat. And, speaking of beating, Cecelia was doing her job as a Beater as best as she could. It was strange, playing with a boy from a different house as her fellow Beater, because she didn’t know how he operated, and couldn’t read him and his body cues the way she could read the other Gryffindor Beater. That wasn’t good, especially since they were dealing with balls of iron whizzing around at high speeds. Even the slightest hesitation could result in serious injury for one of them or for their teammates.
Cecelia continued to fly around the pitch, her bat grasped firmly in her hand as she raced the other Beaters to get to various Bludgers. In her peripheral vision, she saw one of the Bludgers, but her teammate already looked to be flying towards it, which meant that Cecelia’s time and energy would be better spent trying to bend the other Bludger to her will. Cecelia turned her broom towards the other Bludger… and then thing went to hell.
Something collided with her back, right in between her shoulder blades, and Cecelia pitched forward, squeezing the broom between her legs so that she wouldn’t be unseated entirely. She succeeded in staying on her broom, but that was about the only good thing that happened, because the momentum of her body moving forward sent the handle of her broom downwards, so she was in a steep dive, nearly perpendicular with the pitch below. Cecelia still hadn’t managed to get in a breath since her gasp of shock at the moment of collision, and that, paired with the pain in her back, was making it difficult to see or think straight, let alone maneuver her broom. When she finally got air into her lungs (Merlin, it burned to breathe), Cecelia’s vision cleared somewhat, and she began to realize just how screwed she was.
The adrenaline kicked in quickly, and Cecelia grasped her broom handle with her hand that wasn’t holding onto her bat. Just as she was putting herself back on course, the Gryffindor felt a jolt, and her broom was once again out of her control. Cecelia’s heartbeat surged in her ears as she took in the situation – the rapidly approaching ground, her out of control broom, and presumably a Bludger that was still chasing her (unless one of the other players had tried to knock her off course, which was not very likely, especially given that there was a crowd gathered to watch the game, and they would certainly be a witness). Cecelia liked to think that she specialized in getting out of sticky situations, but there was so little time, and while the initial surge of adrenaline was at least dulling the pain in her back and the pain of breathing, it also made everything seem too bright and too fast and too blurry. She only had a second more, and Cecelia knew what she had to do – she had to get off the broom, before it smashed into the ground with her on it.
The Gryffindor girl leapt from her broom just in the nick of time, her shoulder slamming into the ground as she rolled to reduce the impact. Her bat was still in her hands, and there was a moment of brief, intense pain as it collided with first her collarbone then her cheekbone. Cecelia sat up, slightly dazed. Everything had happened so fast – from her being hit with the Bludger to sitting up on the ground couldn’t have taken more than a minute. Cecelia’s chest was heaving and her eyes couldn’t quite focus on anyone or anything. Her whole body hurt, and the additional injuries from the bat weren’t helping matters. Still stunned, and covered from head to toe in mud, Cecelia clambered to her feet. There were people landing their brooms now, and she searched through the chaos of her memories for the sound of the bell to call a time out. Though she couldn’t recall a timeout being called, she figured there must have been one, because there was no way everyone would be landing otherwise. A few of the players tried to approach Cecelia, but they were shooed away by the nurse, who had bustled onto the field. Cecelia knew there was no point in pretending she wasn’t injured – everyone would have seen her tumble, or at least realized that it happened now that she was coated in mud and a bruise was blossoming on her left cheek. Even if she couldn’t pretend she wasn’t injured, Cecelia could certainly be creative in how she portrayed her injuries – she didn’t want the rest of the game being cancelled on her account.
Cecelia cleared her throat before speaking to the nurse. The first words out of her mouth were, “I’m fine.” She didn’t smile, because any expression on her face would certainly contradict what she had just said. Cecelia lied her way through the questions that the nurse asked her – no, she hadn’t bumped herself that bad, and yes, she could move everything. The only thing the nurse insisted on checking in greater depth was her shoulder. After proving that she had a full range of motion and that the joint wasn’t dislocated, the nurse declared Cecelia fit to play again, which was all that she wanted. The Gryffindor slogged through the mud of the pitch to retriever her equally dirty broom, slicking her hair back from her face with her uninjured arm. Cece steadfastly ignored anyone who tried to talk to her or comfort her – she wasn’t fragile, and she didn’t need to be coddled. She had gotten through pain before, and she would do it again. All she needed to do was get through the rest of this game.

Jamie wasn’t entirely sure that the game should have been allowed to continue – the rain was pelting down around them, and one person had already been injured that day. More people getting hurt because of the unfavorable conditions would be ridiculous, especially since this wasn’t even an official game. Jamie was as competitive as the next person, but she wasn’t going to insist that they keep playing so that her team could win at the expense of the health of others. It wasn’t her choice, though, and after Cecelia Rousseau had been looked over by a nurse, everyone mounted their brooms and the game began anew.
The Hufflepuff girl had her eyes on the Quaffle, which had gone to Madison Roberts at the point the game resumed. Jamie was already trying to work through who Madison would past to and what the best way to intercept it would be, hovering underneath the Gryffindor girl, when Dominique sent a Bludger flying towards the other team’s Chaser. It was a close call, and there was almost another injury that game, but Madison’s quick thinking and quicker reflexes got her out of the way in time – but not without a price. The Quaffle that Madison had been holding didn’t come along with the Gryffindor girl when she went upwards, probably because the rain made it too slick to grasp onto tightly. The Quaffle dropped down – right into Jamie’s hands. Jamie let out a loud, shrill whistle towards Dominique – a wolf whistle, some might call it – to congratulate her teammate, since she didn’t think that the rain would allow a thumb’s up to be seen.
That naturally made the Hufflepuff the target for the Bludgers, now, since she had possession of the Quaffle and had, rather loudly, called attention to her own position. It was a strategic foible, definitely, but luckily for Jamie, she had practiced for this sort of situation. She had learned quite a few tricks for avoiding Bludgers over the years, including some from the foreign students, so when the first Bludger came, Jamie was ready for it, rolling her broom so she was hanging upside down and the Bludger whizzed past her. Jamie righted herself, leaning against her broom and continuing to do a series of tricks to avoid the continued rain of Bludgers. Her grip on her broom was vice-like – she didn’t want to slip, especially not with the acrobatics she was doing.
Through the veil of the rain, Jamie saw Thalia flying towards her. She whistled again, softer and lower, to catch the other girl’s attention, before passing the Quaffle. After that, Jamie lost sight of the ball, the throng of bodies and the pouring rain both obscuring her vision. Jamie’s guess was as good as anyone’s when it came to what happened next. Even the commentator seemed to have a hard time tracking the Quaffle and the Bludgers, because the pitch was eerily quiet, just the wind and the rain cutting through the silence (though they did so spectacularly, slapping against the stands and the players with unparalleled verve). From what Jamie could tell, the Quaffle wasn’t going much of anywhere, and neither were the Bludgers. She caught glimpses of her team members and others, on one instance seeing Roxy dodging out of the way of a Bludger and on another watching Dominic pinned against the wall by a body she couldn’t recognize. Jamie tried to squint and see who it was, but the rain splattered harder against her face, and she gave up trying to decipher the chaos.
People and balls were flying everywhere, and trying to understand it all was just going to give the spectator a headache. Instead, it had to be looked at as a series of snapshots – moments frozen in space and time instead of parts of a whole. Even so, it was confusing, and general pandemonium. Jamie prayed that someone – anyone, it didn’t even have to be someone on her team – managed to break free from the cycle of what felt like flying in circles, so that the game could keep moving onwards.

Well, this game was rather exciting so far! That Gryffindor girl was pretty much smashed by that bludger and was still playing, which Adonia found impressive. And, of course, Adonia had her eye on her dear, dear friend Daniel. When he got in that spat with the other Beater Adonia giggled, shaking her head. Basically chaos was ensuing at the moment, though, and it seemed like they would never get the quaffle headed one way or the other. Not to mention the rain was so heavy now that it was near impossible to see anything.
Then, finally, something broke up the chaos a little. CJ saw the snitch, once again. Adonias eyes fixed on her and she pointed up, "look! That seekers spotted it," she pointed out to the people around her, giving them something to focus on other than the general madness. Adonia started looking for the snitch herself, following CJ's gaze, until she saw it just hanging out by Dominiques head. She laughed. What a sneaky little guy. Adonia could barely see it's glint through the downpour.
CJ seemed to be moving slowly toward it, perhaps trying not to draw the other Seekers attention, but to no avail. Both eyes were on it and the girls immediately sped forward, right for Dominique, causing the Ravenclaw Beater to dodge the speeding Seekers.
