@dominic The Quidditch scrimmage was over. The excitement was gone since her team had lost. Lily had been trying to keep everything on the positive side, but now that the match was done with, she was starting to feel the effects of Adrian being gone again. Her mind had been occupied for the last few days. Now there was nothing to keep those thoughts from creeping back in again. She knew she would have to deal with them eventually in order to move on. Except she didn’t want to move on just yet. That seemed wrong. It may have been a few weeks already, but that was six years she was being asked to overlook. She didn’t like having to do that.
The locker room for her team had already cleared out. She was sure the Gryffindors on the other team were already in the common room celebrating. Before going back though, she planned to see if Cece was fine after that nasty hit. Accidents happened of course, but she was a teammate. It would kill a few minutes of having to think about everything else. Lily was surprised that more hadn’t happened during the match, considering the weather conditions. While the rain hadn’t necessarily slowed her down at all, it had been tough to see at times. She was positive that the match was nearing a delay or cancellation if it had gone on any longer. The pitter-patter that had been going on before they started had now turned into a raging monsoon. Which meant she still had to walk through it to get back to the school. What a perfect day to forget an umbrella. It almost made changing into dry clothes right now seem useless.
Regardless, Lily tossed her sopping wet Quidditch gear into her bag. She would have to get it cleaned and dried in case there was another scrimmage near the end of the year. After the tournament ended, there wouldn’t be much to do besides study. And who liked doing that? Pulling on a big jumper, Lily sighed. This was awful. Between the weather and her feelings of everything that had gone on, she couldn’t catch a break. Pretending like everything was fine wasn’t going to get her anywhere either. People would take notice eventually. Some already had.

The match was over, and his team had one, unsurprisingly. In all reality the game was a pretty close match, but Dominic was too cocky and confident enough to assume that he would win, and so he did. Well, his team. He did he chose not to acknowledge the fact that he actually didn't play his best this game. He was a little distracted. First, by Lily with those wild eyes and that crazy smile. He had seen it on the pitch before, of course, but it had a been so long that he had forgotten the look. It was, for lock of a better explanation, enthralling. Second, he was distracted by the fact that his team captain, Dominique, was just a fellow player today and not a captain at all. A part of him kept looking her direction for instructions on what she wanted them to do but then he would remember that she wasn't in charge right now. It was kind of nice not having her in charge, but another small part of him missed it, in a way that he would never admit to himself or anyone else. Thirdly, Cecilia's injury really shoom him up. He never minded her, not that they were friends or anything, but he didn't like the idea of someone getting smacked like that by there own teammate. The rain didn't really bother him, he was a fan of the rain, it suited his disposition. However, it did make the aftermath of the game not as celebratory as he would have hoped. Everyone was kind of in a rush to get inside to get dry, after a mini celebration. However, he saw someone linger behind at the locker rooms. Lily. He felt a strange rock in his throat as he started to walk past the door, but then stopped. Aside from the fact that she was soaking wet, which would make anyone look a little depressed, she truly looked as though something was eating at her. In fact, for a moment he thought she was going to cry. She looked so... Broken. Shattered. He saw a lot of himself in her at that moment. What could he possibly do? Did he really want to try and help Lily Potter feel better? He finally found his muscles to work and he turned, stepping into the locker room and stopping in the doorway. He folded his arms and leaned against the frame, taking his usual stance of dominance and nonchalance. Giving the usual impression that he didn't actually care about anything going on around him. But really, that rock in his throat seemed heavier, bigger, and just as darkly colored as the aura about Lily right now. "Upset your boyfriend missed the match?" He said coldly. Even in his own mind he chastised himself or it. Why was he being so cruel to her? He knew why, it was because it was what he always fell back on. Cruelty, uncaring, and bullying. And what better way to bully this broken girl then by bringing up her little lover who had run off? He didn't know the whole story, but he had assumed that her and Adrian would do a long distance thing. It was clear now, looking at her here, that this wasn't the case. She had a look of someone who had lost something dear to her, and now he had figured out what it was. Still, his instincts were stronger than his heart. "I mean," he continued, "it's not like he played that well anyway. You probably still would have lost. Or," he took a step further into the room, "he would have ditched halfway through the match instead of last week, and that would have just been messy."lily luna potter

@dominic Zoning out while doing menial tasks had become a common occurrence lately. It was better that way. Zero thinking allowed for her to get things done without feeling like a broken human being. She understand why some people tried to keep those kind of things in check all the time. She had always thought it was kind of sad, but they were saving themselves a lot of pain and suffering in the end Lily knew she wouldn’t be able to stay this way forever, but for now it was fine. The brave face was on while she had played the scrimmage match. The one that screamed that she was still the same person. Even though she wasn’t.
The other problem with zoning out was that she tended to not notice that things were going on around her. Usually she didn’t care. Running through the halls and bumping into people was just her thing. But this was type of thing wasn’t her usual, and it certainly wasn’t her thing. The sound of footsteps approaching the locker room were completely dismissed, and it wasn’t until the harsh stab of words that appeared that she took notice to the person standing in the doorway. Of course it was Dominic. It had to be him. He was the only one that could criticize her like that. He was the only one that would kick her when she was down. If she had spotted him standing there before he talked, she might have thought he was there to have a conversation about the match. That had happened before. His words cut her though. He was here to do damage. Why? She wasn’t sure. He had that kind of effect. She had taunted him before and could usually take everything he shot back at her in stride. There was something different about this one. It was more personal. It wasn’t a joke or a game. “That has nothing to do with you,” Lily said quietly after a few seconds, her voice cracking slightly. The last thing she needed to do right now was to start crying or look physically upset about it. That would give him the power he wanted.
Except he had continued anyways. Attacking Adrian’s Quidditch abilities and making it sound like he should have left in the middle of the match instead of when he had. Lily closed her eyes, trying to block it all out. She didn’t need this right now. She didn’t deserve it. There was already so much going on, and having Dominic spouting stupid things at her was easily avoidable. Taking a deep breath, Lily opened her eyes again. She grabbed her bag, closed her locked and started towards the door. Her intention was to leave, even though he was taking up the majority of the doorway. “Please move Dominic. I don’t want to do this right now,” she said as she came to a stop in front of him.
[OOC: feel free to piss her off. I think her trying to slap him would be a perfect way to initiate the deal ]

She said something between his words and he didn't quite hear her. This was in his favor, because if he had heard her voice crack he would have lost it. She had closed her eyes while he spoke, and he could almost tangibly feel his words stabbing into her. After he was done, she got ready and headed towards the door. He could hardly bear to look at her, and it took all of his energy not to furrow his brow in concern. He wanted nothing more, for a moment, than to be capable of making her feel better. But he knew he wasn't. He knew that wasn't the kind of person that he was. He wasn't the kind who could really make a positive difference in her life, so what was the point in even imagining he could be? Let alone actually trying to. She asked him to move, her voice actually rather calmer than he expected. He was ready for a fight but... She didn't want to do that right now. Just. Move. he told himself. But he couldn't. His instincts were stronger than anything else inside of him. His instincts to be what he always was. Maybe he was too scared to be otherwise. "Funny," he started, "was that what he said when he left? 'I don't want to do this any more?'" he guessed, not really thinking that was true. "And did the little lion just step aside? I never took you for a coward, Lily, but," he shrugged, "maybe you are."lily luna potter(I hope this is mean enough hahaha)

@dominic Lily tried to avoid looking Dominic in the eyes as he talked. Making eye contact would reveal how upset she was; how frustrated she was that he was being like this. Why was he doing it, anyways? As far back as she could remember, she hadn’t done anything to him to incur this kind of response. There was a clear distinction between his normal hardness and this; whatever this was. Saying Dominic was being mean was an understatement. He was actually trying to get under her skin. And it was working. Here he was, presuming that Adrian leaving was because of some disagreement that the two of them had. Assuming only made the Ravenclaw look like more of a jerk, and yet his statement still got to her. “Don’t put words in his mouth,” Lily hissed, finally making eye contact with him. The last thing she was going to do was let him have his way.
Or she thought that was what was going to happen. Instead, the next half of his spiel hit harder. Probably because it was partially true. While she hadn’t wanted to let Adrian go, she knew that she had to. Keeping him at Hogwarts wasn’t right, and he needed to be with his mother. Dominic wouldn’t understand concepts like that though. Especially not right now. But calling her a coward was a mistake. That was the last thing that she was. She could be wild, incompetent, stupid; all of those words bounced off of her with little to no effect. Being called a coward was a different story though. Lily didn’t even realize that she had raised her right hand and was swinging it at Dominic to slap him. It was too late for her to stop now though.

She told him not to put words in Adrians mouth, but he didn't stop talking. He knew that calling someone like Lily Potter a coward would get to her, and that's why he hit her there. He was good at that. Pointing out peoples weaknesses and using them against the person. He still didn't know why he was hell bent on torturing Lily right now, though. It wasn't for attention like his bullying usually was. He was just being flat out cruel. Well, force of habit. His eyes flickered to her raised hand as she started to swing at him. Oh, she was going to slap him. Knowing Lily, it probably would have hurt pretty badly. But, he lifted his arm just in time so that her hand would make contact with his forearm instead. His eyes moved back to her own, "I'd like to cash in that deal we made a few years ago now," they had a deal that Lily would have to do anything Dominic said for an entire day. This day was almost over, but a half day was good enough for him. The game took most of the day and afternoon, but they still had quite a few good hours left. "I'll let you off the hook at bedtime," he explained. "My first order is that you don't say anything until I say you can," his voice wasn't harsh anymore, really. It was more just amused than anything. "And get your stuff. We're going to get dry and then we'll see what else I can come up with." He hadn't actually planned to do this today, so he had to start thinking of fun things. Fast. lily luna potter

@dominic He blocked her slap. Lily wasn’t sure which was more infuriating; the fact that he stopped her from hitting her, or that he was strong enough to do so. Maybe that was just a sign of her heart not being totally into it. She didn’t know. She was still pissed off for what he was saying. No one said that about her or Adrian. Dominic wouldn’t understand since he wasn’t a Gryffindor. She half-wished he would shut up right then and there. The slap should have been enough of a signal to be quiet going forward. He didn’t though. Instead, he opened his stupid mouth and started going on about a deal that they had made. In her fury, she almost forgot about it. When he said he would let her off by bedtime, it all came back to her. The bet that one could defeat the other, and then have complete control for an entire day. Lily had figured that there would be an expiration date to that.
Before she could protest, Dominic started in with the first order. Just the first one. Lily groaned as he said she couldn’t talk unless getting permission from him. This was stupid. She didn’t have time for this. She wasn’t playing his game, and she certainly wasn’t getting her stuff and going anywhere with him. Maybe a different time, a different Lily. Right now all she wanted to do was go back to the common room and be left alone by everyone. “I’m not doing it,” Lily stated defiantly, backing up from him. He wouldn’t physically fight her over this, would he? It was just a stupid bet they had made years ago. Using it now, of all the times he could have used it, was cruel. “Try another day Dominic. I’m not in the mood to play childish games with you.” Turning from his towering presence, she returned to her belongings and scooped them up. She was going to attempt to get by him one more time. If he tried to stop her…he probably didn’t want to do that.

She said she wasn't in the mood for it and and to try another day but... That gave him an idea. She picked up her stuff and he shook his head, taking a step back into the doorway. "What if I promised you'd feel better before the day is over?" his tone was still light and slightly mocking, but he persisted, "I know that's hard to believe but just give it a chance. Go to your tower and change, I'll go too, and if you want to chance it then meet me in the entrance hall in a half hour," he suggested. He took the step back outside of the room, stepping off to the side in order to let her through. He was sure, maybe overly confident, that she would agree to it. The concept of feeling better would, hopefully, itch at her enough that she would show up. They had always been able to joke and sneer at each other, which was fun in it's own way, but did she REALLY hate him? Or did she, maybe a little, understand why he was the way he was... lily luna potter(You can time jump in yours and if she doesn't show up well... Then he'll have to catch her later haha)

@dominic It was so hard not to roll her eyes at him. Make her feel better by the end of the day? What kind of stupid nonsense was that? Dominic didn’t understand anything of what she was feeling, that much she knew. He never would, and never could. Lily knew that she could be of the brutish sort, and that while a lot of her interactions with the Ravenclaw had been similar in essence, now was definitely not the time for him to try and be there for her. Or whatever it was that he was trying to do. She didn’t want to do anything with him right now. The only eventful thing in the next hour was going to be her head hitting her pillow and calling it an early day. That was all her body willed right now.
Not responding to him at all, Lily had all of her belongings in her hands and moved towards the door once again. Dominic had moved aside while she was collecting them. Scooting by him as far away as humanly possible in the doorway, Lily exited the locker room and headed back towards the castle. The rain was lighter than it had been, but still coming down hard. It put a damper on the already awful mood she was in. The predicament she was in now was this: it was either get Dominic’s stupid thing done with now while she was already pissed at him, or push it off to a later date. They both knew that it was inevitable.
A half an hour had passed since getting back to the Gryffindor common room, changing out of her soaked clothes once again, and trying to figure out what she was going to do. There were way too many things going through her head to process at the same time and she hated it. None of this was fair. Letting out a sigh that was uncharacteristic for her, Lily slid off her bed and dragged her feet out of the common room. She was stupid for doing this. It was basically playing right into what Dominic had wanted. At least that was what she thought. Who knew though? Maybe he had wanted her to not show, that way he could continue to pester her about the deal. Lily didn’t hurry down to the entrance hall though, instead taking her time to walk there. That was pretty much the only thing she could protest at this point in time. The more she elongated her trek down, the less time he could do to her whatever he had planned.
[your choice on where he finds her. entrance hall or wandering a corridor on the way down xD ]

He was there in twenty minutes, dry and waiting. A very, very strong part of him thought that she wasn't going to show. Still, he waited. He had a few ideas, and he was sure they were going to work. He didn't ask himself why he was taking the time to cheer up Lily Potter, but somehow that was important to him right now. Maybe because he rarely got the chance to cheer up anyone. Maybe because Lily was pretty. Maybe because he thought Adrian Greyback was an asshole for bailing. There were a lot of reasons why he could be there, but he didn't pick one. A half an hour had passed and she still wasn't there. He didn't move, though. He leaned against the wall in the entrance hall. He didn't really have anywhere else to be and... he kind of needed his mind taken off things for a moment. Eventually, she appeared. She took her sweet time, too, but he was patient. "Fancy meeting you here," he said, using the cliche as an ice-breaker as he pushed off the wall. "Ready to get started?"lily luna potter

@dominic Her feet carried her all the way to the entrance hall before she heard Dominic’s voice grate against her ears. Normally his voice didn’t do that, but it was simultaneously expected and surprising. Why was he waiting here still? She hadn’t given any indication that she was going to be heading down here during their conversation earlier. That was why she had waited so long. Any sane person would have left by now, and that was saying something coming from here. At least it was from the normal her. The one making the decisions right now was anything but the typical Lily, and she hated that. The little voice inside her head that told her to run around like a maniac or climb a tree had been replaced by the one that dictated to do something interesting, just to be pissed off at it. She didn’t like when that one appeared and started making choices for her. It always led to something like this.
“What makes you think I’m here for you?” she responded as he pushed off of the wall. Lily didn’t even stop walking as he did so, continuing towards the Great Hall. There would probably be some food left in there, and if not, a quick trip to the kitchens wouldn’t kill her. The house elves always had a way of cheering her up when she was feeling down. That also meant having Dominic follow her down there as well, but she would take her wins when she could. “Follow me and I'll hex you into next week, Dippet.” Lily threatened as she neared the Great Hall doors. She wasn't in the mood for it today, and she really didn’t want to have to spell it out for him again. Without looking back at him, she entered the hall and made a beeline for the food. At least that would do her some good right now.
[The End]
