Welcome to the third and FINAL task! Our champions find themselves in a large arena, each starting out at a different point. The arena is filled to the brink with many small and fluttering creatures.... fairies. These multicolored creatures are the goal of the task. The champions will have thirty minutes to capture, and return, as many fairies to their base as possible. The champion that has the most points at the end of the task wins. How to playThe task is a mixture between Battleship and Hungry, Hungry Hippos. There is a grid (below) that is the arena. Each champion will have a home base where they store all their captured fairies and each champion has been spelled to see a 'mist' that limits their vision to about ten feet. The mist will disappear from locations of the arena they have explored (so they can revisit the spots if desired).
There will be ten rounds, and each round will last two OOC days. At the beginning of each round the champions will send me via pm a coordinate on the grid and I will tell them what is in that grid. If it has 9 fairies I will tell them which colors there are and they will give me THREE that they will take. If it has 6 fairies I will tell them the six and they decide which three to take. If there are three I will tell them what three they automatically take. If there are none, then they will return to their base empty handed. The champions must return to their base after each round, regardless of if they have fairies or not. For their turn to count they will need to make an IC post where they leave their base, react to their findings in the square, and then return to their base.
NOW! This game is not just catch and return. We have a couple... interesting situations that may happen. Those are.
2+ champions meet in the arena. If two (or all three) champions select the same box, or boxes next to each other they will, of course, encounter each other in the arena. This will result in a duel between the champions (or all three). When this happens the current round will be extended to 4 (6 if all the champions) days, where they will each be expected to post every other day. (example: student a posts the first day. student b the second day. student a the third. student b the fourth.) The winner will be decided by a randomizer, and they will take ALL the fairies (they will have six if it's a two person duel, nine if it's a three way duel.)
If a champion chooses the square that is their opponents base, they have the option to steal three fairies from their opponent (without their opponent knowing!).
Being part Battleship, we will not reveal explored squares to your opponents. Basically the champions will only have a map of the squares they have explored. They will not know where their opponents have been (the closest you will get is knowing when they are close enough for a duel.)The Arena Grid
The winner is determined by not just the number of fairies in your base, but what each fairy color is worth. Each color is worth different point values, but their points won't be revealed until after the end of the tenth and final round. There are red, green, and blue colored fairies.
