"We're done." he said, nodding firmly but still talking sweetly. "Unless there's something you need to talk about." he added. He had told her everything on his end. And she seemed to accept that he was telling the truth and was happy. He hated the past few days while she was mad at him. He was expecting her to ignore him in the halls and not eat with him, but he wasn't expecting her to skip all of their classes all together. It made him a little mad that she would, she could have just sat somewhere else rather than just miss the class, and he kind of felt bad for being the reason that she missed lessons.
"I've missed you Kins." he said, letting go of her just long enough to sit beside her instead. "I hated fighting with you. I just want to make sure you know that I wouldn't do anything without a reason." he told her. "I promise I'm just acting however I am to protect you. I'm doing whatever I can to keep you safe and away from that Bully and if your family aren't going to help then I will, and I don't mind doing it, but it would be helpful if you wouldn't hate me for doing it." he said, wrapping his arm around the girl and kissing her head.

Kinsey shook her head when he turned the question on her. "No, there isn't," she answered immediately. She just wanted this whole thing to be over-with and wanted things back to how they were before, if that was possible. A part of her was nervous that she messed everything up with him, but she also knew that wasn't the case. It couldn't be. If it was, he wouldn't be here right now trying to make things right and talking with her.
He said that he missed her, moving to his beside her and Kinsey scooted closer automatically. She listened as he explained that he hated fighting and that he just wanted to protect her and wanted her to trust that his actions were to keep her safe. She nodded, starting to feel guilty now. "I know. I understand that now. I- I'm sorry," she curled into him, resting her head on his chest when he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head gently. She could have said more, about how she got caught up in the moment and didn't realize the impact it would have on either of them, but she didn't want to talk about it anymore. "I never hated you. I can't, not after everything you've done for me. I just, I'm sorry." She wasn't going to justify her actions anymore, at least not out loud. In her mind, sure, but no one needed to know about that. She was relieved that things seemed to be going back to normal with them. She shivered a little and moved closer to him. She wanted to say something to make sure things were right, but didn't know what so she just hoped he would understand.

There was nothing left to say on either part. The war had ended and the calm was starting. Riley had missed this girl more than her could fathom for only having been a part from her for a few days. She had become such a major part of his life and after having spent every available minute of every day with her for the past few weeks, suddenly being without her gave him an awful, empty feeling. But it was over; the storm clouds were parting to make way for the sun, back in it's rightful place. "It's okay." he nodded in response to her saying that she knew and was sorry, he didn't want her to feel bad, he didn't want either of them to feel bad, he just wanted it to be over and, hopefully, not to have this fight again, though he wondered if they would. He was glad to hear that she hadn't hated him. He was crushed just thinking that the girl who was more important to him than almost anyone else could have hated him. He nodded and kissed her head again in response, feeling like words weren't necessary and maybe just distracting for the moment they were having. She shivered and he could see that she was tired and cold. He took off his sweatshirt, the same one he had been wearing on that very first night by the pond and wrapped her up in it. "We should get you to bed." he insisted. After a moment, he stood and helped her to stand also. He held her as he walked her over to the entrance to the girls dorm, a place that he was not allowed to be. "Goodnight, Kinsey." he smiled, giving her a real kiss before letter her go into her dorm and then making his way back up to his, one again forgetting his book on the couch.
