Victoire nodded. "That's a good idea. Arm squeeze. Works for me," she chuckled again. But really, she would use that if she had to. She really didn't want anyone thinking that she was weak right now. There would just be too much drama. The news would explode and her life would be in ruins. She had to talk to her family first before she let the whole world find out. She really wished that the world wouldn't ever find out, though.
She breathed a sigh of relief and nodded as Rory said that he got a Danish. "Thank goodness. I don't have sweets often, but I understand the need to satisfy the sweet tooth when it comes calling," she said. "I'm sorry I disrupted your day off... I won't keep you for long."

Rory smiled when she agreed to his idea about squeezing his arm. That was a good, safe way to make sure that things would be all right with her. He didn't know her really well or why she would want to keep her condition such a big secret, but figured it probably had something to do with publicity. He was only too happy to help her with this.
He laughed at her obvious relief that he got his treat. "Yeah no worries. I had it before I even saw you. I just was on my way to buy it then." He made a face at her. "I am of the firm belief that every once in a while, sweets are good for the soul." He was kind of teasing her, figuring she wouldn't mind. Then he shook his head, "It's not a bother at all. I just would've walked around for a while longer. I'd rather be helping someone," he said honestly. He was aware that might sound a little pathetic, but when he had days off with no plans he didn't really know what to do with himself.

He said the already had the danish before he even saw her, so it wasn't a disruption either way. He said sweets were good for the soul and she laughed, not chuckled. "I can agree with that. There are a lot of things that are good for the soul, I find that I need to access more of those thing more often," she admitted. Then he said that it wasn't a bother at all, and that he would have walked around for a while longer either way. "Helping people is good. I like doing that too," she agreed. Of course she liked helping people. That was part of the reason why she was Minister... but not even close to the whole reason. She wanted to save the world and she wanted to be the best. It was more selfish than anything else. "Is that why you became a healer?"

There it was. A real laugh and Rory was glad that she took his teasing the right way. His smile turned mischievous when she said that she needed to access things that were good for the souls more often. "Do you want me to write a list for you? That way you can have some variety." He nodded when she said she liked to help people. In his opinion, she did a good job of that when she was Minister of Magic. "Yeah, that's why I became a healer. And I like healing in and of itself. I think it's fascinating."

He asked if she wanted a list and she laughed again. She was started to feel much better, and actually hadn't really laughed like that in... well, she had laughed but it had been hard. It was nice to feel like she was coming alive again. "Actually that would be great. You can write it at my place," she chuckled. She actually was going home, since she didn't want to share her and Teddy's hideout and she'd ask Teddy to pick her up and they'd transport the food from there.
He said that was why he became a healer and mentioned how fascinating it was. "I can understand that. I liked so many subjects in school. It was hard to try and focus on one thing," she said. "You went to Hogwarts, didn't you?"

Rory's mind started whirring as she agreed, saying that she'd love to have a list from him. Good. Finding more and more things that were good for the soul was a good thing and he was more than willing to help her. "Okay, sounds like a plan," he agreed, starting to compile a mental list in his mind. He didn't want to get there and suddenly have no ideas whatsoever, though Rory didn't really see that as a concern.
He smiled as she started talking about herself. "So you chose a job where you could do a little bit of everything," he commented with a smile on his face. At her next question he grinned. "Sure did! I was in Hufflepuff. What house were you in?" Rory was sure he'd read that somewhere, but he couldn't remember so he just asked.

She shrugged a little as he said she could do a little of everything at her job. She never though of it that way, but she supposed he was right. He said he was a Hufflepuff and she grinned. "My boyfriend is a Hufflepuff. I was in Slytherin," she reminded. "I think... You're older than me. What did you do in school? I don't think I remember you," she admitted with a frown. She was barely capable of paying attention to her own friends then, let alone someone older and in a different house. Not unless knowing him would have served her in some way.

There she was, smiling again. Rory couldn't help but smile back, though he didn't exactly know what he'd done to make her smile this time. Then she mentioned her boyfriend being in Hufflepuff and he understood. "Boyfriend, huh? What's his name?" She said she was in Slytherin and Rory suddenly remembered learning that somewhere. He laughed when she said he was older than her. "I'm twenty-seven, so I'm not exactly sure we went to school at the same time, which could explain you bit remembering me. When did you graduate?" That was better than asking how old she was, right?

"Edward Lupin?" she answered. She loved Teddy, but that wasn't technically his first name... Though know one knew who Edward was. She laughed, "Teddy," she corrected. "He graduated nine years ago. He's only a year younger than you," she said with a nod. "I'm turning twenty three next month so," she chuckled. "I guess you were a third or fourth year when I was sorted," she shrugged. "I was really focused on my studies and I was sure that I didnt pay you any attention," she admitted. She had broken up with Teddy because she we focusing on school... That was a testament to how school was more important to her than anything else back then. Her career was the most important thing for a long time, too... She had almost lost Royal over that.

Rory smiled when she said who her boyfriend was, explaining that he was just a year younger than Rory. He tried to remember him, thinking it would be cool if he could. Teddy Lupin ... "Oh yeah! I remember him." He thought a moment longer. Remembering all the things that happened in school was not so easy after so many years. "We weren't particularly close in school, but I do remember who he is." At least that was something, though it wasn't a lot to go on. He smiled when she said that she was focused on her studies and probably didn't pay Rory any attention. "Don't worry about it. I didn't notice," he told her with a smile. "I was too busy doing my own things in school to notice that someone a few years younger than me wasn't paying attention to me," he said with a grin. It was interesting that he was teasing her after just meeting her ... maybe he was trying to make her feel comfortable around him? So him walking her home wouldn't be so much a burden.

Rory said that he remembered Teddy, which made her grin. "Teddy is easy to remember. Everyone adores him, usually," she chuckled. Teddy was one of the most loving people she knew. Someone, though, it was kind of exhausting to absorb all that love herself. He still loved his friends and family, of course, but it was different. She loved him, too, immensely, but she wasn't sure she was quite absorbent enough to take all of his love on her own. She could use some help, honestly.
He said he didn't notice her not noticing him and she smirked. "What kind of things did you like to do in school? We're almost there," she added, nodding up ahead toward her apartment building.

Victoire said that everyone got along with her boyfriend and Rory couldn't help but smile in response. Didn't everyone think that about their boyfriend/girlfriend? He was glad she seemed so happy though. Obviously the boy made her happy, which was a good thing. With her condition, she needed someone around that could make her happy. "Usually? That sounds like an interesting story," he teased, mostly trying to distract her from any pain she might be feeling as they walked.
He shrugged at her question. "Uh, mostly charms and potions," he admitted. "I'm one of the boring people that really didn't like flying or defense against the dark arts. What about you?" Rory nodded when she said they were almost to her building, but didn't say anything. It was her turn to talk now.

Rory focused on the 'usually' part and she chuckled. "Even a loving girlfriend can find times to be annoyed," she said, not that it happened often. In fact, the hardest time to be around Teddy was when they weren't dating. Especially when she was sexually involved with Sebastian... that just made seeing Teddy not pleasant. Though, that didn't mean she didn't adore him... well, that was all in the past.
He said he liked to do charms and potions and she nodded, "me, too. I like Transfiguration, too," she added. "I did do Defense, though. I went to the Auror training program," she explained. "I was really focused on every class for the most part, actually... I was kind of into everything. Well, I didn't play Quidditch. No, thank you," she chuckled.

Rory smiled when Vic explained a little, but not really. Honestly, it wasn't any of his business what made her annoyed, he was just interested to know if there was a specific story that went along with it. Apparently not, which was fine.
Then she started talking about the subjects she liked and Rory nodded. Then he learned something he didn't know. He continued to listen and smiled when she explained that she was really focused on everything and all of her classes, except Quidditch. "I didn't know you became an Auror. How did you become Minister, if you don't mind me asking?" Rory knew she was minister, but he didn't pay attention to how she rose to that position.

They made it to her building as he asked his next question and she paused on the sidewalk."I went through the training, served as an Auror for about eighteen months, and then moved into the Ministry. Just worked my way up from there," she explained. "I'm a very hard worker, Rory. It wasn't hard to show them I was capable of running the government," she said with a more serious tone. This was Victoire, though. When it came to the Minister of Magic position she took it very seriously. But now... she had lost all that.
"This is me," she announced, nodding toward her building. "I can make it up the rest of the way myself," she smiled and reached a hand out to gently touch his arm, "thank you for being so nice... and for your discretion," she said softly. She was sure he wouldn't spread the news of her almost passing out in a grocery store...
