He seemed to debate the answer to her question, then made up his mind. "Sounds good to me," Jess answered easily. She was interested in going to his place, in watching him in his element ... though he did seem to get more and more comfortable in her apartment with the more time he spent there.
She liked watching him rummage around in her kitchen. It made a part of her wish she had more there, more that might help him make something decent, but that didn't change the fact that she was almost staring at him, trying not to. She smiled at his answer, "Well I guess that makes me feel a little better, since I'm not the only one," she teased, glancing around the kitchen to try and make it not so obvious that she actually was staring at him. When she looked back toward him, he was right beside her, blinking down at her. Jess smiled, gazing up into his eyes before giving a soft giggle, "I should probably stay out of your way, huh? You obviously know your way around a kitchen." Her heart was racing. Why was it doing that? She told herself to step back so he could look in the cupboard, but her feet didn't respond.

She said she felt better that she wasn't the only one who went out to eat, though he was sure that she still did it more than he did. And he never made simple things to eat, not really. If he had the time to eat at home he made sure it was good... it was kind of just what he did.
When he was stuck blinking down at her, she smiled and.... giggled. Giggled. What was he doing? What was she doing? What were they doing? She suggested staying out of his way, saying that he knew his way around a kitchen. The way she said that made his heart beat pick up in speed and he found himself forming a soft chuckle before reaching into the cupboard above her, not taking his eyes off her, and pulling out the pot he had seen up there. "I like you there, though," he countered. "Just remember to blink."

He chuckled in response and Jess bit her lip, trying to stop herself from appearing too giddy. Why did she suddenly feel like a schoolgirl again? It was almost like it had been in Hogwarts when she had a crush on a guy and he was talking to her ... except she wasn't in school anymore and this amazingly attractive and nice guy helped her in the middle of a busy street and was now going to cook for her in her own home?! This had to be some sort of dream, but Jess was loving it. Every second. She hoped he was too, because if he was then maybe they would do something like this again, and not just because she dropped all her stuff. He said he liked her there and Jess felt her cheeks heat up a little. "Right, blink," she muttered softly, doing as he said as she looked around and raised a hand to play with her hair. Then she lifted her eyes back to his, "Guess I won't move then," Jess responded.

He closed his lips tightly to try and keep from smiling more, too. Jess repeated his advice, muttering to herself to blink and then raising her hand. He lowered his, setting the pot on the counter beside her. He didn't take his eyes from her, especially when she looked up at him again and said she wouldn't move. "Yeah that's good," he muttered back. He took in a deep breath before stepping away, setting up the pot on the stove. "You have enough stuff to make a soup. It shouldn't take long," he pulled his wand out of his pocket, "do you mind?" he asked. He liked to use magic when he cooked, too, especially when he was hungry and... well, his stomach was feeling all jittery so that must have been hunger, right? He knew better than that though. It was Jess. It was always Jess.

He was watching her as closely as she was watching him ... or was that just her imagination? Jess couldn't tell, but when their eyes met she didn't want to be the one to look away. It was almost like looking at one another was a tangible thing. She smiled when he mumbled it was good and then stepped away, telling her he could make soup. She watched him pull out his wand and shook her head, "No at all. You do whatever makes you feel comfortable," she answered, still just watching him as she leaned against the counter. Having him not so close made things a little less intense between them, but she still couldn't look away. "What kind of soup?" she asked after a bit longer of silence.

She said she didn't mind and he nodded, flicking his wand to start the process. The few veggies she had started cutting themselves, the broth started heating up, spices started flying about. He had practiced many times and his skills were impressive, but he was silent about that. There wasn't any point in boasting.
"It's just a vegetable soup, with noodles. You don't have any meat but that's fine, I don't really prefer it," he explained, not looking back at her yet as he orchestrated the cooking around him. Once everything was slowly in motion he turned to look at her, taking in another deep breath. He had to do that often around her, he was realizing. "Does that sound okay?"

Jess' eyes widened as she watched him start cooking. He waved his wand and vegetables started chopping, things were flying around. If she wasn't staring before, she definitely was now. It was ... amazing. "You're really good in the kitchen," she said after just a few seconds. When he said he liked cooking, she never imagined something like this.
She gave a breathy laugh when he explained what he was making and asked if it sounded alright. "That sounds great," she answered, still in awe of how he was cooking. Honestly, she never thought to try cooking with magic, but what he was doing in front of her was just plain impressive. She shook her head, "I can ... set the table? If you want?" Jess felt a little useless, but she pushed that away. She wanted to enjoy this.

She complimented him, this time sounding more honest and less like a form of flirting. He chuckled and nodded a little, but didn't go on. Then, she said that the soup sounded great, thank goodness, and suggested that she set the table. He frowned at her a little, "but then you'll have to not be there anymore," he joked. Then he smiled a little and nodded, "yeah, that works. Just get some bowls and spoons, I guess. That's all we really need. It'll be done in..." he looked at the pot as things started going on, "fifteen minutes. You didn't have much, as you know, so it won't take long," he commented.
He had to turn his body away from her then, pocketing his wand as he took the spoon in his own hand and started to check things himself. He was feeling about one hundred more times relaxed now that he was cooking. He'd feel better after he ate, too... maybe by then he'd have the courage to actually plan to see her again.

He nodded at her compliment, but frowned when she suggested setting the table. Jess gave a small shrug, "I can come right back when I'm done," she teased, though she wasn't really averse to the idea. She summoned the bowls and spoons, moving to put them on the table. She didn't really want to walk in the kitchen with everything flying around, but she also felt like she needed to move so she could catch her breath and gather her wits just a little. As she put the bowls and spoons on the table, he commented that it would only take fifteen minutes, since she didn't have much. She grimaced, embarrassed a little but glad he couldn't see her face. Her back was to him.
She started moving back to the kitchen, a somewhat amazed smile on her face as he started tasting things and checking the food. He really did look right at home in her kitchen and Jess liked it more than she'd ever admit to anyone.

She said she'd come right back when she was done and he chuckled, shaking his head a little. She moved to summon the dishes and got to work setting them on the table. For now, he didn't look over at her due to being focused on the food... and wanting to not burn anything because he was distracted.
As she started to come back he still didn't look up, "so, do you invite strangers into your home often or only when they help you out with things you've dropped?" he half teased. He really hoped this was something special, though. Knowing Jess she would have been this kind to anyone, though. That was just the way she was.

On her way back, he asked if she often invited people into her apartment and Jess blushed. She figured he was probably teasing, but it probably did seem weird to him that she would just let him come in and cook for her. She gave a nervous chuckle before answering, "No, I ... I've never done anything like this before," she admitted. "Then again, most people just walk by when I drop things, and if they help it's just picking up my things and giving them back to me ..." Was that a good enough reason to invite someone who was all but a stranger into her home? She was back to the spot where she's originally watched him and stood there, feeling excited and stressed and very much mixed up.

She said she'd never done anything like this before, which was a nice thing to know. He never did stuff like this. He was fun loving and sweet under the surface, sure, but very few people ever saw that. She said most people walked by when she dropped things and he grimaced, "well, I'm glad I could help you get the stuff home," he added. "It's ready," he announced after a few more minutes. He let the magic serve the soup into the bowls she prepped as he slowly walked out of the kitchen, but not before stopped as he passed her. "And, for future reference, I can always be there to help if you need me. Just... holler," well, that didn't sound like he was stalking her at all. It was a figure of speech, really. She could owl him or call to him if she saw him... there were ways.

She smiled when he grimaced at her, saying he was glad he could help her. "That makes two of us," Jess answered easily. He started leading the soup over to the table, but stopped when he reached her, saying that he was willing to help if she ever needed him. "All right, I'll remember that," she promised as she followed him over to the table.
His soup was fantastic. Jess was definitely impressed by his cooking skills and made sure that she told him that repeatedly as they ate. After this, she definitely was hoping that he'd make her pie and actually meant that because ... she wanted to try some more of his cooking. Besides the food, talking to him was amazing. She liked getting to know him a little better and spending time with him.
After he left, Jess spend the rest of her evening thinking about him. She couldn't help it. She didn't get any writing done, and eventually decided that she might as well just go to bed. She got up and got all ready for bed, climbing in and screaming when she felt something cold by her feet. Jess jumped and pulled the covers back, screaming when she saw a dead rat in her bed. How in the world did this happen!? She levitated the thing out of her bed and out the window, and then had a hard time sleeping after that.
