It was a pretty normal day for Finley. Go to work. Come home and eat. Head to Elaine to get an assignment or to chat. Overall, this was Finleys routine. He was headed to Elaine now, secretly hoping that she wouldn't have anything too violent for him to do right now. Fighting was his specialty, really, and he hated that. He had to learn it though to protect himself from his father... Elaine was his oldest friend. And his only oldest friend, now that Desirae was gone. He felt that familiar sick tug at his stomach thinking about Des and he stopped for a moment, saying a silent prayer of sorts. He persevered, soon arriving at the safe house. After going through the necessary security he stepped in. "Finley O'Niell," he announced. Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine had up to a dozen safe houses dotted all over the countryside of the United Kingdom. She never stayed in one place for too long, and she never told her followers the same house when she wanted to meet with them. Voldemort had been brazen in staying at his old Manor, which was now destroyed, and Grindelwald had bounced from country to country in his quest not to be captured permanently. Elaine had no intention of leaving the UK, but she was not a fool to trust that just one house would be safe enough. The interior of each house looked identical and isolated, so that it would be difficult to decipher exactly where they were at any given point. She had ensured she had all the comforts she needed in each house; if she was going to be moving around all the time, she better be comfortable after all.
Elaine was lounging in her dark red plus chaise lounge, sipping a vodka martini daintily. Her hawk, Morgause, rested on her perch next to the fire, preening herself. Both Elaine and Morgauses’ heads snapped towards the door as the protective spells revealed a figure, who announced himself immediately. Elaines’ reflexes did not immediately relax at the sight of her old friend. “Prove it,” she commanded, even though he obviously knew how to get through her spells. She could never be too careful though.

He wasn't surprised at her two word response, of course. This is what happened every time he came to see her. He wished it could be more simple but... For obvious reasons. He cleared his throat, putting his hands behind his back. "In your second year, my third, I told you in the astronomy tower that my mother thinks I'm imaginary," he paused, "I've never told anyone but Desirae and you that." He took a step forward, bringing his hands in front of him now to show he had nothing in them. His head was tilted to the side a little and he gave her an affectionate smile. He was probably the only person left in the world who looked at her that way, he guessed. At least in the capacity that he did. People admired her, sure, and wanted to follow her but... He didn't believe that any of them had her best interest at heart. That they loved her. Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine was still as he repeated the memory they shared years ago in the Astronomy Tower. Something stirred briefly within the depths of her body - was it sympathy? It felt like a mix of that and pity. Though Elaine had never been extremely close with her parents, and even though now they were quite terrified of her, they at least acknowledged her existence. When he smiled at her like that, finally Elaine’s shoulders released their tension and she offered a tiny but genuine smile back. It was strange to smile for real; usually she was leering or fake smiling through one of her disguises so that the person she was tricking would feel more at ease. But Fin was different. He was close as a brother to both Elaine and Desirae when she was alive, and now that she was gone Fin was all she had left. “It’s good to see you,” she said softly, reaching out and squeezing his shoulder as a sign of affection. She was typically surrounded by huge men for her personal safety, or her followers who were meant to obey her and not be her friend. Fin now was the only exception.
Elaine gestured to the sitting room. “Come and sit with me, I was about to ring for lunch, but I can have something made for you too,” she offered, gracefully sitting down in her chaise lounge again. Morgause took off from her perch and fluttered down onto Elaines’ shoulder; she absentmindedly stroked the birds feathers gently. She showed far more affection towards her pet than any human being. “How are things at the Ministry?” she asked. She knew enough due to Isoldes’ reports, but that had been mainly for the Triwizard Tournament. Now that her final plan was locked into place, and Isolde returning to the Department of Magical Transportation, she’d need intel on the other departments as well.

Finally, there it was. That small smidgen of a genuine smile. That was good enough for Fin. He was never an overly affectionate person, except with Desirae who demanded that sort of thing. Elaine placed a hand on his shoulder and he nodded, agreeing with her words. It was good. It would be better if it was in different circumstances but... It could be much worse. He could not be able to see her at all. She invited him to sit, saying she was ringing for lunch. "I'd like that," he said" accepting the offer for food. He took a seat in a chair near hers, watching as the hawk rested on Elaines shoulder. "It's fine, I suppose. Not the most exciting at the moment but I guess that can be a good thing... How's Morgause?" he asked, nodding to the bird. He had always liked that hawk. It suited Elaine, and it was good for her to have something with her while she was hiding out. Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine smiled and rang the braided rope; a bell sounded from within the house, and moments later Anise, the real Anise, appeared and asked what they would like to eat. “I am feeling a pulled pork grilled cheese with chips, some of that spicy mayonnaise on the side, and a pickle. And some of our finest reserve elf made wine,” she ordered as if she was at a restaurant. Anise was good at taking orders and making sure the chef got his information correct, so Elaine would keep her around for now. Plus, she was fun to go out as because of her doe-eyed innocent looks. Nobody would think that it was really a wanted criminal mastermind behind those big blue eyes.
She waited as Fin made his order, then dismissed Anise with a wave of her hand. “Morgause is thriving,” Elaine said as the hawk hopped off her arm and back onto her perch. “Everyone still thinks I have the owl I had at Hogwarts, when he’s back home with my parents. I also charmed his coloring so people can’t tell who he is,” she said, shrugging as she turned back her attention to her red tailed hawk. “Morgause blends in wonderfully, and knows how to hide scrolls within her feathers so she doesn’t attract any wrong attention. I’ve also enchanted her feathers to be bullet proof so those filthy Mudblood hunters can’t harm her,” she said, her words turning venomous by the end. She couldn’t fathom why Mudbloods resorted to killing helpless creatures with a loud banging contraption that ripped through their interiors. A killing curse was at least swift and painless! All the more reason to establish dominance over their kind she supposed.

Anise arrived and Fin gave her a short nod in greeting, trying not to show any sort of sympathy in his eyes for fear that Elaine would not approve. "The same," he said. He never liked to make complicated orders at restaurants even and there was no way he would do it here. Plus, what Elaine had said sounded fine to him so there was no reason to not try it. Whatever made Anise's job easier was better for him, anyway. It was kind of strange, though, to look at Anise when he knew Elaine had gone out looking like her before. Anise was dismissed and Fin turned back to Elaine, listening as she answered his question about the hawk. He chuckled a little as she said that everyone assumed she still had the owl, so it was easier for her to not be watched delivering messages - he assumed. Charming the owls coloring was pretty smart, too. As for the hawk, it made sense that she needed someone so specialized considering she was doing such secretive work. At the mention of being bullet proof he grinned, "that was a stroke of genius, Elaine. I don't know what people want to shoot birds anyway," he sympathized, shaking his head. Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine watched Fin appraisingly as he ordered the same thing as her. “You know, you can order whatever you want Fin. Anise isn’t the only cook in the kitchen down there; we have a variety of menu options,” she told him breezily, running a hand through her long brown hair. It was getting too long for her liking, and she scrunched up her nose. “I think I’m going to cut my hair a few inches, it’s getting too in the way of things,” she commented, looking over at him to see if he’d lock eyes with her. “What do you think?” she inquired, twirling her wand in between her fingers.
She smiled a bit smugly at his compliment. “Why Mudbloods think shooting birds is a good sport is beyond me. I’m working to tweak the enchantment so that the bullets rebound off my owls wings and hit the shooter,” she admitted, giggling wickedly. That would certainly show them for trying to harm innocent animals. Anise brought up their food and Elaine took her plate without thanks; the girl got enough gratitude from being saved from living in the streets by Elaine anyway. She had a bed, her own private bathroom and all the food she could ever eat. And she was utterly, and entirely Elaines’ to command. “Cheers,” she said dryly. She sniffed at her sandwich, and pulled out a tiny bottle and sprinkled a little something over her food, for safety sake. She took a bite, and chewed in silence, watching Fin thoughtfully.

Elaine told him he could order whatever he wanted, mentioning how Anise was not the only one down there. She knew him well, knowing that he was probably worried about overwhelming Anise. ”It sounded good,” he countered, casually waving his hand as if to wave the subject off. She said she was thinking of cutting her hair and he leaned forward, looking at her hair for a few moments and then into her eyes as she asked what he thought. He nodded a little, ”I think it would look good, Elaine. But there is little that wouldn’t look good on you,” he added. He meant it, too. He was just being honest. He was (almost) always honest with Elaine Dupree. He nodded glumly, leaning back again as she spoke about shooting birds and all. He didn’t have a taste for that. Then he furrowed his brow just a little when she said her hope was for a rebound affect. He relaxed his face quickly, simply nodding at that statement. Then the food arrived and Fin turned to Anise, ”thanks,” he said softly before turning back to Elaine. He smirked as she said ‘Cheers’, starting to eat after she had taken her first bite. After some indulging, he spoke again. ”Saw that Jess girl yesterday,” he muttered. Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine flipped her long brown hair over her shoulder and smiled over at Fin. “Very true,” she agreed, laughing. Elaine knew she had good looks, she had inherited them from her mother after all. “I shall think on it; if anything I can do it and if I don’t like it I can simply..grow it back,” she mused, taking another bite of her sandwich. She was pleased with the current chef in her employ; he knew what she liked and how she liked it prepared. He also came from a long line of purebloods in France who supported her cause, so she knew she had his full loyalty. If that ever wavered...well, he had arrived in time to see what happened to her previous chef, so she had little doubt he would try something similar.
Fin mentioned the girl, Jess, saying he had seen her yesterday. He had said it quietly, almost indiscernible, but Elaines’ head whipped around as fast as a snake striking its prey. “Jess?” she repeated, her tone almost harsh. Fin had a...sort of obsession with this Mudblood girl since his school days, but had never acted on it. In Elaines’ mind, she didn’t understand why as it wasn’t as if Fin was ugly or disfigured. Her best friend was quite the looker, and if Elaine had any sort of interest in that type of thing, she probably would have made that type of move already. “For bloody sake Fin, just shag the girl and get it out of your system,” she told him exasperatedly, staring over at him. “Honestly though, you’re gorgeous, she’s….well, not hideous. Get it over and done with so you can actually concentrate on more important things,” she instructed, her fingers drumming on the side of her chair impatiently.

Fin watched her hair as she flipped it over her shoulder, smiling. Elaine was beautiful, that was something he would never deny. He just wished that she saw it a little differently. She knew she was beautiful, of course, but he would prefer if she used her beauty for more than just... controlling the world, so to speak. "Hair grows, exactly," he agreed with a short nod. "I keep my short or it gets in the way and... I'm sure that I would look a little ridiculous with shaggy hair," he reached up and ran his fingers through his cropped hair. Elaine saying Jess's name made him want to cringe, but he didn't. Then she went on, saying that he should just shag her and get it over with. He did cringe at that. He simply nodded at her words, "you're... probably right." He looked around the room, hoping the food would get there soon. Then he smirked, thinking of a way to change the subject, "you shagging anyone, Elaine? Could be good for you. That's what Des would say."Elaine Lyra Dupree

Elaine raised an eyebrow at his shagging inquiry. “Why, are you offering yourself?” she asked, smirking mischievously. That had been more of Desi’s thing, shagging the Purifier members one by one. Elaine preferred to have total control and dominance over her conquests, so she typically went outside their little circle to do so. “I am keeping myself satisfied thank you for your concern,” she finally said, leaving what that meant up to interpretation. She finished her food and rang the bell for Anise to clear their trays away. She grasped onto Anise’s wrist, fingers wrapping around as she pulled her down, planting her lips firmly on the other girls. Anise didn’t fight, this wasn’t the first time it had happened, but Elaine simply released the girl after a moment, sending her away. She did catch the gloating smile on Anise’s lips, and privately congratulated herself. “Still worried about me?” Elaine asked Fin rather sweetly.
She stretched luxuriously like a cat, and sat up more as she pulled out a black leather bound diary. “I haven’t sent you out much lately, have I?” she mused out loud, scanning her To Do List with a slight twist of the mouth. She had been using Evie now that she was back in the country, and Sarah - both who loved to get their hands dirty. Perhaps it was the shred of soul she still pretended she didn’t have that kept her from sending Fin on a dangerous mission. He had been her friend for a long time, longer than most people ever realized. The idea of someone stealing him from her made her feel angry. “Perhaps it’s time you prove yourself again to me darling,” she declared, smirking daringly at him.

Finley couldn't help but smirk as she asked if he was offering himself. He shrugged, but didn't answer. She said she was keeping herself satisfied and he chuckled, shaking his head. He couldn't imagine what that was like. Then Anise came to fetch the trays and Elaine was pulling her down to kiss her and his head cocked to the side. Elaine turned and asked if he was still worried about her and he held up both of his hands in surrender pose, "nope, nope. You're good," he chuckled. Seeing that kiss like that made him miss Desirae. She stretched out and he leaned back too, getting comfortable. He shook his head at her question, then chuckled as she said he may need to prove himself. "I'd like to have the chance, Elaine," he said with an eye roll, "but I really would prefer to just be your therapist," he laughed a little louder that time. Elaine Lyra Dupree(awww she love her bff)

Elaine tossed her hair behind her shoulders and smiled. “You are quite the therapist Fin,” she relented, inclining her head at him. “But I don’t always need a therapist,” she added. She swirled the contents of her goblet together and took a swallow before hopping up out of her chair. “Want to come see some of my new toys?” she asked, her eyes glinting eagerly. Of course he did, Fin was never one to say no to her. So Elaine grabbed his hand and led him through a maze of rooms until they got to the library. She ran a finger of her free hand along the titles of the novels on one shelf, and pulled a book out. Immediately a hidden door creaked, revealing a long passageway. “I couldn’t help but add it in,” Elaine said, shrugging nonchalantly.
She led Fin down a corridor and down a set of steps before entering a long stone room. A large, ornate mirror was in one corner of the room; it was the portal she took to their hidden base when she needed to meet with one of her followers. Fin was one of the only ones she currently allowed to pay a visit to her in one of her homes. She walked over to a shelf and let go of his hand to spread her arms wide. “This is a new one I got from….a new friend of mine,” Elaine told him, pulling out a matching pair of intricately carved wooden totems. “One saps the magical energy out of someone, the other transfers said magical energy to the other person. The energy can be contained in second totem for a limited amount of time, but it must be transferred to a living soul eventually or it will go back to the first totem and the person it was drained from.” Elaine finished speaking and smiled. “All the way from New Orleans!” she added happily.

Elaine complimented him on his 'therapist' skills, but said she didn't always need one. Then she stood, which surprised him, and he stood too before she even offered to show him her new 'toys'. He nodded, letting her take his hand and following behind. She revealed a secret passage after a pulling a book out and he shook his head, "cliche," he muttered, teasing her. He followed down the corridor and steps before they entered the room. There was a large mirror, which made his brow furrow. What was that for? She released his hand and he watched as she explained the totems she pulled out. He nodded, his face growing serious. "New Orleans... you're working with voodoo magic now?" he said, his tone trying to be teasing but not working that way. He probably sounded a little afraid, in all honesty.
