Okay, so Fin occasionally engaged in some late night parkour when he was in the mood for it. Tonight, was because he still had a lot of adrenaline and positivity built up from his afternoon with Jess. Sometimes he went out due to frustration, tonight it was excitement. Maybe even a little pride, that he didn't make an entire fool out of himself. It was sometime after eleven, though he didn't know how much after since he had been wandering for a while. He just knew he left work at eleven and hadn't gone home yet. He was out of breath from climbing on walls and jumping rooftops. He didn't like heights, though, so he kept it low. Still, he hadn't run out of energy. He jumped from his current rooftop to another and almost crash landed when he saw someone already up there. He tucked and rolled before hopping to both feet. "And who the hell are you?" he asked the figure. finn kylie nottingham

@finley Tonight was just another bust in her silly game of vigilantism, and Finn was starting to wonder if maybe everything she was doing was for naught. If she was even doing anything to begin with. Run-ins with aurors were becoming more common place, and it seemed like maybe she was taking the same routes they were. Whether that was indicative of how similar she was to them or it was sheer luck, she was unsure. So tonight was being spent standing on a rooftop waiting to see if anything occurred in the alley below her. There had been murmurs of a possible deal going down that she had overheard in one of the shadier establishments of Diagon Alley, and while she wasn’t all that proud to be in that bar in the first place, it had led her to the spot she was currently perched on. Anything to stop illegal goods from being trafficked further along the chain. Finn was glad that she understood that it wasn’t always possible to stop these people, and that there would never be true salvation for them; some of the aurors and other crime fighting fellows she had encountered though that cleaning up the streets permanently was possible. Anyone that believed that was just another cog in the wheel and perpetuated the problem that was there in the first place. Cracking down harder 24/7 had negative repercussions as well, and it led to the criminals wizening up. Penetrating these organizations with undercover sting operations was impossible when they closely guarded themselves and barely came out in the open any more. She had seen it happen in New York, and it was quite obviously happening in London as well. At least there was one thing common between the two cities so far: there were still criminals that were as dumb as rocks, and they always made mistakes. Unfortunately the ones that she had overheard about the alley deal were not of that same breed. Talking about it in public was most likely a distraction for any ears listening and she had fallen for the bait. No matter, their paths would cross again one day.
If Finn had been teetering any closer to the edge of the building when the man behind her came crashing into her space, she may have fallen off. Luckily the brick wall she had been leaning against was enough of a brace to hold her where she was. Her hands were already shoved in her jacket pockets, her wand dominant hand rearing to go should he be someone from the other side. Whatever that meant anymore. “I should say the same to you,” she commented back, trying to get a read on him. “Do you have a problem with me being up here?” There was no sign that he was a wizard yet, which was a good sign. No-majs were always easier to deal with in the end. They weren’t nearly as harmful unless they were armed.

The girl said that she should say the same to him, asking if he had a problem with her being up there. "No, no, I just... was startled," he said firmly. He raised an eyebrow and pursed his lips a little for a moment as he took her in. "Just out for a little parkour?' he guessed. That's what he was doing, after all. So far nothing showed that she was magical, but he knew better than to assume he was in the clear right away. Plus, she was probably more startled about him appearing than hew as about seeing her on this rooftop. He was just doing this randomly and she was there first.Plus, he was a rather tall and muscled man... but she looked like she could handle herself. In fact, maybe she could beat the living crap out of him. That would be hard, though, considering he was a very good fighter. He kind of had to be in terms of his home life with the father he had and he just kept learning, so that was that. He was sorry he had interrupted her... rooftop meandering, he supposed. But now that they were there, maybe he could have a friend in this odd late night moment. finn kylie nottingham

@finley Startled? This big guy was startled by her? He had practically launched himself onto the building after all. From where was a good question, but she wasn’t one to ask something trivial like that when her own presence on the rooftop was just as strange. Not to mention that his arrival had almost thrown her over the edge. That had to have been the absolute worst time to be staring over it. How sad that would have been, considering she only knew a few people over here. The best part about all of this was that the man didn’t look like he was here to cause trouble, and that led her to relaxing her body a little. Her wand was still grasped in her hand firmly. That much wouldn’t change until she figured out exactly who he was, and what he was doing up here.
“Parkour? Like the thing where you run and jump over walls and buildings?” That would explain quite a bit. “No…I was just…enjoying the night sky.” Finn looked up to see that it was cloudy. Her years as an auror should have taught her better. Now she needed to divert the conversation elsewhere, or this guy would get suspicious. Last thing she needed were no-maj cops yelling at her to get off of the building. “How can you even see where you’re jumping when its this dark out? That doesn’t seem all that safe.”

Finley nodded when she asked about parkour, then she said she was just enjoying the night sky. Finley thought looked up made her incredibly vulnerable, and if she hadn't done it first then he wouldn't have at all. But she did, so he looked up to. She asked about his visual ability in the darkness and he shrugged. "Just used to it. Been outside a lot at night," he answered truthfully. He looked back at her instead of at the sky, clearing his throat, "uh, what I mean is I didn't spend a lot of time indoors. Outdoors are much better," he tried to correct so he didn't sound as creepy... didn't work. He glance at the wand in her hand and then smirked, "do you poke people with that stick, then?" he said, pulling his own wand out and spinning it in his hand once before catching it and holding it firm. May as well show her he was like her. Unless she really was just a random pretty girl with a stick... in which case he would find her very, very strange. finn kylie nottingham

@finley Finn wasn’t exactly sure how to take his statement on being outside. In her experience, there were very few people in her world that would be outside at this hour. First came the ones that wanted to clear their heads or had a night job - the innocent ones just going about their business. Next were the criminals. Their activity was masked under the shroud of darkness, and for good reason. Finally, there were demi-humans. Vampires and werewolves. Since it wasn’t a full moon, it couldn’t be the latter…“What are you, a vampire?” she joked, trying to lighten the mood. He seemed fairly serious about his outdoor time, especially at night. It didn’t really matter to her if he was one or not. She had plenty of encounters with vampires back home. While they were certainly rare in New York City, it didn’t mean they were nonexistent.
She hadn’t realized that her hand, wand held in it, had slipped out of her jacket pocket when she had stepped back from the ledge. Amateur mistake. Or at least it should have been. The man pulled his own wand out for show and tell. Finn let out an audible breath. “Maybe my comment on being a vampire wasn’t far off then…” she mumbled. She was halfway there, at least. In her experience, vampires didn’t normally use wands unless they were previously wizards or witches, but that didn’t mean the same applied for England as well. There was a world of possibilities over here. “So was the parkour thing just a bit, or were you serious about that?”

She asked if he was a vampire, joking of course. He smirked, shaking his head. "Nah, just neglectful parents. The best way to live a full life if you ask me," he was trying t be humorous too, and his tone didn't give away any bitterness about the subject. He was used to that having been his life, there wasn't much he could do to change it. Then, when she saw his wand, she mumbled about the vampire thing again and he chuckled. She asked if he was just doing a bit about the parkour and he should his head, "no, I really was doing all that stuff the kids do to try and break their necks," it sounded sarcastic word wise, but his tone was entirely honest. "Maybe I can sh-" he stopped, He saw a flash of silver wings fly overhead, behind the girl. Elaine was calling him. "Maybe another night, then. I better run," he said, giving another nod, "stay safe out here," and then he turned and apparated, to wherever Elaine needed him to go. finn kylie nottingham(the end)

@finley Finn had no idea if he was being serious about the neglectful parents bit, or if that was his own way of trying to keep the conversation going. Being called a vampire had a different effect on different people, she had found. This guy just seemed to be the type that liked being out on his own and doing his thing, assuming his statement about his parents was true. So similar to her, except that she didn’t let anyone hold her back. There were plenty of other no-maj kids she went to school with that didn’t have as easy of a time with home life as she did. Not all no-maj adults simply didn’t understand. Finn had a hard time blaming them, because it was a sort of culture shock – even she had difficulty at first, despite how exhilarating it was to find out that she could levitate objects with the piece of wood that was currently in her hand. Odd comment about his parents aside, it was starting to look like this wizard was one of those athletic freaks that preferred running across buildings over walking down the street like a normal person. He was starting to say something when he suddenly stopped. Finn tried to follow where he was looking, which was somewhere behind her, but didn’t quite catch what it was. In a matter of seconds, he was saying he had to leave, and for her to stay safe. She wanted to make a comment that she could handle herself, but the crack of his disapparation prevented her from doing so. Standing still, Finn blinked a few times while trying to process what a strange encounter that was, before peering over the edge of the building the same way she had been before the man’s sudden arrival. There were still no signs of life down there, so she in turn magicked away with a sigh, back to the warmth of her apartment. [The End]
