Finley didn't really care for playing Quidditch, but he had watched a lot of games while at Hogwarts. Mostly because Jess was on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. The reason he was in Quality Quidditch Supplies now though was because he saw Tamara up ahead in the alley, heading into the store and for some crazy reason he decided to go and talk to her.
He didn't know her very well, but she was the captain when Jess was on the team, so that meant he had seen her play before, and she was very, very good. Plus, Finley was trying to be more talkative and friendly with Jess, so what better way to help with that then to talk to her old captain? Sure, that made sense. He followed Tamara into the store, and casually stepped up beside her. "Oh hey," he greeted." You played Quidditch at Hogwarts didn't you?" Yeah, keep it casual. He was so bad at this.

It had been a while since Tamara had played Quidditch, having stopped after she graduated from Hogwarts. It had been her favorite thing to do while there, especially when her team dominated the other teams during a match. She had dreamed of becoming a Professional Quidditch player at one point, but that slightly changed after Ethan’s death. After that, she thought about using her talent of writing to educate the population of the Wizarding World about the darkness that dwelled underneath the light. Of course, she’d have to get passed the whole intern phase first. But that didn’t mean she still didn’t dream of Quidditch, and that was how she found herself in Quality Quidditch Supplies, a store that sold everything you’d need for the sport. Upon entering the store, she was filled with the familiarity of the most popular sport in England. Sometimes she missed playing, flying around and trying to score on the other team. It was while she was looking at the collection of brooms that someone appeared behind her, someone that seemed to recognize her. Quickly she turned around as if almost scared by the person coming out of nowhere. Quickly she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, “Uh—yeah, I did,” she breathed out before looking him over, he didn’t look that familiar. “Sorry—I feel kind of bad, but you are?”

He wasn't surprised that he had startled her, but he did feel bad for that short second. She spoke, though, saying she did in fact play the game at school and then asking who he was. He chuckled lowly,"I'm Finley O'Neill," he answered. "I was in Gryffindor, a year or two above you," he added. "I didn't mean to startle you"" he said with a smile, "I just thought I would say hi since I recognized you. It's okay that you don't recognize me I wasn't really very social and school,' he said in honesty.
He wasn't a quidditch player but he had paid special attention to the Huffleuff house team because of Jess, so he knew who Tamara was easily.

Normality wasn’t something that was achieved it was given to you the moment you are brought into the world, the moment you breathe the air that life has to offer you. Your life, in the beginning, is nothing but normal, it is peaceful, and it is perfect. Or as perfect as life can be. You have a family, people that love you, a home and food and clothing and then as you age, those things slowly change. Be it that you lose your family, your home or your food and so on. But for others, the changes don’t come quickly; they come slowly and painfully. And Tamara was no stranger to this. All of Tamara’s life, she has been different, though the extent of how different came when she turned eleven years old and learned that she was a witch born into a muggle family. Her life was different, but still, it was filled with much loss. First, her brother was killed in combat, then her ex-boyfriend and friend died at the hand of Elaine Dupree. Her life was anything but mundane, far from it. But that didn’t matter now as she was met with Finley O’Neill, a Gryffindor that was a few years above her. She frowned for a moment attempting to remember his name, but she came up blank. And then she learned that he wasn’t very social in school and that it was okay that she did not recognize him. She gave a small smile, “Well, Finley it’s nice to meet you. Though I do say, it’s rather odd that you know my name. Did we have a mutual friend or should I just assume that you stalked me?” she questioned in a slightly teasing tone. She was quite popular during her time at Hogwarts, especially after she made Hufflepuff team captain.

She said it was to meet him, and her smile was pretty nice, too. She said it was odd that he knew her name and asked about mutual friends. He chuckled, "you were the captain of a Quidditch team. Isn't everyone supposed to know your name?" he said. He had a point, too. The prefects and captains were obviously trying to stand out, or at least that's what their positions made happen to them. He wasn't going to say that he watched the games and knew the team because of Jess... Jess didn't even know that yet. How much he had liked her in school. He couldn't just go around tell Tamara that information, right?
Unless... "I mean, I watched the games. You had some good players on your team. Do any of them still play Quidditch that you know of?" he wasn't sure if any of them went professional, but from what he remembered none of them did. "Do you see any of them anymore?" he asked casually, knowing that her and Jess worked together now. Yes, he was kind of a stalker - but not of Tamara.

‘You were the captain of a Quidditch team. Isn't everyone supposed to know your name?’Tamara opened her mouth for a moment but quickly shut it as if she were a blubbering fish before a small awkward laugh left her lips. “Touche,” she said with a smile on her face, “You are probably right, captains seem to be known more than the players. Forgot about that for a moment,” she said as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. It was then that the conversation quickly changed, though not until after he mentioned that he watched many of the games and that she had some good players on her team. He quickly asked if anyone else still played Quidditch or if she even saw any of them anymore. She quickly shrugged her shoulders, “I don’t know who plays Quidditch anymore, I stopped after graduation, but I’ve seen a few of the old players. I work with one of them at the Daily Prophet; I don’t know if you know her though. Her names Jess, she was our chaser if I recall correctly.”

She agreed that he had a point about him knowing her name because she was the captain, and he grinned, nodding. "I guess life is pretty different now."
She moved on to answer his next question, and he felt his nerves building with anticipation as he waited for her to get to the name. Jess. He nodded again, " I do know her, we recently reconnected actually. Are you liking working at the prophet?" he didn't want to make it seem he only wanted to talk about Jess, that wouldn't be very polite and would be too obvious and weird.

‘I guess life is pretty different now.’The words rang through her head multiple times, and she plastered on a small smile, “Very different,” she agreed as she nodded her head for a single moment. The moment Ethan died, though the two of them had been broken up and she began dating Liam in secret, it seemed her entire life turned upside down. They may not have been in-love anymore, but she had a soft spot for him in her life that would forever be empty. She quickly, and internally, shook her head from the thoughts and listened to him talking about reconnecting with Jess recently before asking if she was liking the prophet and working for them. “It’s different from what I’m used to, but sometimes I pretend like it’s a Quidditch match to get through the day. But with everything that has been going on, all the news that has been happening, it’s been hectic. But it’s nice, being able to bring news to people that probably don’t care,” she said with a joking smile on her face. “What about you—what have you got yourself doing these days?”

She agreed that life was different, stating it was 'very' different and he nodded again. There really wasn't much more to get into on that front. It was just a clear fact, nothing that needed embellishment. Fin felt that few things did need embellishment anyway. She spoke about her job, about pretending it was a Quidditch match and about everything going on. When she made the joke...? Was it a joke? About people not caring about the news, he shook his head. Then she asked what he was doing. "Just an obliviator," he said. "We've been... busy and not busy. Just about the same as you guys, I'm guessing, and for the same reasons. And trust me, Tamara, people care about your job," he explained firmly. "It's one of the most important jobs there is... are you working on any particular story now? Maybe I can keep an ear to the ground while I'm out saving muggles from insanity," he meant to chuckle, because it was supposed to be a joke, but he didn't.

When he said that he was simply just an obliviator, she frowned, “Just an obliviator?” she said before smiling “I think that sounds like a pretty good job,” she said amusedly. “Oh yeah—one minute we’re perfectly fine running some random news and then boom, tragedy strikes, and everyone goes crazy trying to get a story, it’s upsetting really. I thought this job would be nice—getting the news out to people—but some of those writers use it as a way to get promotions and don’t care about the actual story,” she said before shrugging. “I guess that’s just how the news business works these days,” she said with a small awkward laugh. She shook her had when asked if she was working on a particular story, “Not really, nothing particular. Just random little things here and there, the last article I did was on the break-in at a local casino. But it seems that a simple intern doesn’t get the best of the news unless they have a groundbreaking source…” she said with a small sigh and shrug; “Which I don’t have,” she said with a small laugh. “But maybe one day I’ll make my way to the top, and maybe the news will be something good instead of tragic with this whole ‘terrorist’ groups attacking."

Fin raised an eyebrow at her as she questioned his use of the word 'just'. He knew what she meant. He wasn't just an obliviator. That made it sound like the job wasn't a good thing, that it was just something he was going through. She said it sounded like a pretty good job and he shrugged, nodding. Then she spoke about her job, agreeing with him that everything flip flopped between busy and completely dead. She spoke about how something bad happening would make everyone try to get a story, rather than really care about what was happening... that was a sad and sobering though, really. That was how the news was these days. "I'm sure some of them have good motives behind wanting a story so badly... even if some just see the story as a goal and not a real issue," he chimed in. Then she said she wasn't working on anything at the moment, just random things. A break in at a casino? Interesting. She spoke about how interns didn't get the best news due to sources, which she didn't have. He frowned at that. He had basically just offered to be one, really... Then she added the last part, about how she hoped someday she'd be telling good stories instead of stories about terrorists. About him, though she didn't know that. He nodded, trying to feign a lighthearted air, "what sort of good news are you hoping for? Communication with the muggles, maybe?"@tamara

Tamara shrugged her shoulders, “They probably do, but some of the dirty ways that people get them, it’s kind of heartbreaking. But I do believe there are some out there, that do get the story, that does deserve it,” she said truthfully. There were some there that were creepy like they couldn’t be trusted, and when they got the story, it just felt—off. Maybe it was just her and being untrusting, but who knew. In the world they lived in now, being overly cautious didn’t seem like a bad thing. She shrugged her shoulders as Finley asked about what good things were she hoping for, and she laughed a little. “I mean, that would be kind of nice – having muggles know about us and maybe help them out a bit with our magic. But that’s a little too far. I don’t know—I’d like to have news that we stopped the bad people, maybe even people not judging people because of blood status. I don’t know—those are only hopes, I doubt they will ever happen during my lifetime. If I last that long that is—”, she said with a small laugh. She knew it sounded morbid, but she was a muggleborn after all, not many of them survived these times.

Finley had always thought being a reporter was a dangerous job, and one he preferred Jess not have. Especially if people were going about getting stories in dirty ways, as Tamara said. She said some people deserved the stories she got in good ways. Fin nodded, but didn't comment further on that. He was feeling a little sick, imagining Jess or even Tamara getting caught in Elaines wake while investigating. That was a horrible and sobering thought. He would never hurt Jess, Elaine knew that, but he couldn't put another name on that list. If Tamara was in the wrong place at the right time, he couldn't save her.
Tamara spoke of this good news she was hoping for, and it all sounded good to Fin. Well, he was conflicted on the catching bad guys part. When she mentioned not lasting 'that long' he shook his head, attempting a lighthearted chuckle. "Well, it all depends on how the tides turn," he said. "As for people being less prejjudiced, I think aside from the obvious, most people are better. Not all, but most."

Tamara wasn’t like many that worked that the prophet, many of them were horrible people. Of course, her friend Jessavette was not, much like Tamara they entered a line of work that was plagued by dirty dealings to get the dirt of a story. Some of them went as far as paying people off to say certain things, but the young brunette would never do a thing. For now, she was fine with the small jobs, like interviewing the owner of the nightclub that got attacked and even traveling to Hogwarts to get the details on the tournament and how people felt about the winner. Jess had gotten something else, though she had gone the ministry route. For now, as an intern, it meant that she wouldn’t get many of the dirty jobs, and once she got to that position, she’d go about the right way of getting information. She wouldn’t bribe, wouldn’t threaten. At what Finley said, about people and their prejudices, there were some that were better than others, and she nodded. “You are right, some people don’t care, and others do. I believe that Elaine and her gang is filled with both, some that are too scared to stand up to her and want to live, and those that believe her.” she said with a nod, she wanted to add that it was the past just repeating itself once more, but she refrained.

She agreed with him, which wasn't a surprise. Finley knew how to say what others wanted to hear, and he believed most of that, too. Then she mentioned Elaine and he kept his poker face on strong, even though his stomach twisted. She'd be expecting him now, actually. He hadn't been by since yesterday. "There are a lot of reasons people join a terrorist," he hated calling Elaine that but... that's what she was, and he couldn't change that fact. "I better head out," he said, nodding toward the door. "It was nice seeing you Tamara. Hopefully I see you and Jess around," there he went, bringing up Jess again one last time before smiling and waving, making his way out the door.
