Keep The Beat Up (Callisto, Shawn, Emmy)

Rory was excited and nervous. A while ago he met Callisto at work and they'd talked and he told her that he would invite her to come spend some time with him and his friends, since she said she wasn't very social. Well, the time had come to made good on that promise. He sent and owl to both Callisto and Shawn, inviting them to come to a random muggle club tonight so they could all spend some quality time together. Granted, he just asked them to come meet him. Neither knew they were going to run into one another here, but that was fine because they didn't know each other, right? It didn't matter. They'd meet tonight and hopefully they'd all be able to have fun together. At least, that was the plan. 

He hung out outside the club, waiting for either or both of them to show up, looking around himself curiously. Nothing important seemed to be going on tonight, so things should be pretty calm. Hopefully.

Callisto had received Rorys owl and sighed... well, she had said she would go, didn't she? She confirmed the plans and destroyed the letter, assuring that Mina would never find it and randomly show up at this club to ruin her night. She was glad they were going to a muggle club... maybe that would make it harder to run into people she knew. Rory was going to introduce her to some of his friends because, for some reason, she had decided that she wanted to have some fun and be social.

What a joke.

She arrived at the pub and saw him standing outside. She wore a simple black dress that kind of just looked like a long vest. Her hair was short and her makeup fairly simple, but her heels were fairly high - which she didn't really like. She gave an awkward little wave as she approached Rory, "long time no see," she said ironically. Wasn't that the cliche when hanging out?

Shawn hadn't been expecting an owl to come flying through the window to his office, honestly he thought the poor thing was lost and had tried to shoo it out before it dropped the letter and flew off. As he realized it was here for him he felt a little bad but that thought was soon replaced as he read the letter. It seemed Rory wanted to get together at some muggle club later, Rory was also inviting one of his coworkers. Something about her needing to get out more and be more social, whatever the reason he was never one to turn an invitation from a friend as well as an excuse to have some fun. Shawn got ready and luckily from the letter it didn't sound like anything formal. A simple pair of jeans and button up shirt would be just fine. Sadly the only problem with leaving the school was he had to be a fair distance away before he could apparate. Still it was the price to pay for the safety of the school.

Being too worried of being seen just appearing out of thin air by muggles he apparated into Diagon alley and walked the rest of the way to the club. As he got to the club he saw Rory standing outside as well as the back of another woman. That must have been the coworker he had written about Shawn assumed waiting till he got closer he to say anything. He was tempted to say something like ask if his coworker was cute just for laughs as he was sure this woman was her but he didn't know the person yet. Didn't need to make her mad already if she was the uptight sort. "Hey Rory is this your coworker?" Shawn asked as he got close enough to actually say something, as he did he finally saw who the woman was and couldn't help but laugh.

Of all the people it was Callisto, still if he had tried to connect the dots he might have realized that sooner. Rory and Callisto both worked at St.Mungos and he did feel she needed to socialize more. "Yeah you're right I think she does need to get out more as well. You're looking nice tonight Callisto." Shawn greeted her as he finally was done laughing about the situation.

Callisto arrived first and Rory smiled when she approached, even though her greeting was sarcastic. "Nice to see you too Callisto," he responded easily. "My friend is on his way and when he gets here we can go ahead and go in." He paused a moment, trying to think of something to say that could make the moment less awkward. "How has work been lately? Anything major happen?" They both worked for Mungo's so nothing really important probably happened or he would have heard about it. 

Then Shawn was walking up. Rory was glad his friend could come since Shawn was definitely more fun than Rory was, or at least that's what Rory assumed. He was good at following along, but not particularly good at leading. He nodded at Shawn's first question, "Yes, this is-" Rory paused when his friend laughed. Did Callisto and Shawn know one another? Shawn's next words confirmed his suspicion. "You two already know one another?" He asked, though that was obvious. One of them was sure to elaborate, right? Wow, he definitely didn't expect this.

Rory said it was nice to see her and she offered a small smile, though her nerves and alight annoyance about all this made it hard to be genuine. He asked about work and she shook her head, "been quiet. Hopefully it stays that way," she answered. It was too much to hope for really with everything that was going on. The best they could help for was that they had patients, because if they had patience that meant less people were dead.

His friend approached and it took all of Callistos energy not to smile. It was Shawn, of all people. He started to ask if she was the friend and then realized who she was, saying she looked nice and she did indeed need to get out. Rory was about to introduce her but then showed adorable confusion due to Shawn knowing her name. Cal rolled her eyes, folded her arms, and took one small step closer to Rory. "You look nice too, I suppose," she said dryly. "I guess we're supposed to dance and whatnot," she turned to Rory. "He's my professor in comedy. Trying to make me more funny," though they hadn't started lessons yet.

It was all some weird coincidence that Callisto was here as well, Rory obviously didn't know they knew each other. If he had he would have said something when he invited either of them. He also wouldn't have looked so confused as he finally asked if they already knew one another. Shawn didn't have much time to reply as Callisto spoke up first saying he looked nice too she supposed. He would take that as a compliment and roll with it as she continued to guess at what they were suppose to be doing tonight. "Are you asking me to dance already? I think we should wait till we get inside where the music is first." Shawn joked, well aware of what she was saying but he couldn't help but make it sound like she was asking him to dance.

Callisto's finally explained to Rory how she knew him but Shawn was surprised with how she did it. The lessons started out as a joke that turned into a more serious plan still he didn't expect her of all people to be sharing that. Shawn figured that would be his role to tease her about. "Pretty much, I'm not happy just being the professor of one subject so I've started to branch out." Shawn joked slightly as he looked toward the two of them. "I used to annoy her in school all the time but I'm not ashamed to say that was probably half the student body too." Shawn was pretty sure most would agree with him, even Rory at times but it was always in the name of having fun both for himself and others.

Callisto mentioned that things were slow and she hoped they stayed that way and Rory nodded in agreement. It was hard sometimes when you didn't have anything to do, but at least it meant that people weren't being attacked. It was when St. Mungos got really busy that he felt stressed and upset the most, even when he was mostly just helping out in the field. He didn't have to deal with long-term injuries, and was glad for that fact. "I agree," he said, perhaps unnecessarily. Then Shawn was there, teasing her before letting her explain that they actually did know one another. Rory couldn't help but laugh at the explanation that Shawn was going to try and help Callisto with her sense of humor. He wasn't necessarily laughing at them ... but yes, he was. He knew Shawn well, and it was no stretch of the imagination to say he could be funny, but Rory never would have pegged Callisto as someone that wanted to work on that. "I'm excited to see how it works out," he teased them both before turning and looking around a little more. He was also waiting for Emmy, his childhood best friend to show up. A part of him was nervous to introduce her to Shawn, who was definitely more fun and cheerful and daring than Rory was, but he couldn't really plan for a group of his friends to come and not invite her.

Emmy was excited for that night. Rory had sent her an owl, saying that he had a friend who needed to loosen up, and who he was going to take clubbing. Naturally, Emmy needed to be there, since as a Scot she had a higher alcohol tolerance than just about anyone else in the world. The only problem with the whole going-clubbing thing was that Rory had decided to go to a club on the Muggle side of London, which Emmy wasn’t familiar with whatsoever. When she had asked Rory for directions, they had been vague at best, which meant that she was now horribly late and still somewhat lost. She had had to ask some stranger on the street how to get to the club, and was already rather flushed and flustered when she finally found the location she had been looking for. Emmy smiled broadly, waving wildly at Rory while she was still halfway down the street, before quickening her pace so that she could get to him and his friends quicker. “Hey.” She said, slightly breathless as she screeched to a halt beside Rory. She looked appraisingly at both of his friends, before sticking her hand out for one of them – or both of them – to shake. “Emmy Pond.” Emmy introduced herself brusquely.

Rory agreed that it would be nice if things stayed quiet at the hopsital, of course. It would be pretty messed up if he didn't agree.

Then, Shawn asked if she was trying to ask him to dance already, suggesting that they wait until they get inside to the music. She rolled her eyse, but she couldn't help but smile just a tiny bit. This was Shawn, after all. As for the comedy lessons, Shawn explained the situation. Callisto pointed at him when he said that half the student body probably found him annoying, nodding in agreement. Rory said he was excited to see how the lessons worked out. "Maybe you'll see some of the results tonight," she said flatly. But... she was having fun.

Another friend of Rorys showed up then, a beautiful redhead. Callisto smiled politely and reached her own hand over to shake, "Callisto Oliveira. Nice to meet you," she greeted. She resisted raising a questioning eyebrow at Rory about his relationship with her.

Shawn laughed as he noticed Callisto pointing and nodding as he spoke of possibly annoying his students. "Don't make me give you a detention, I can go that now. Which is a little scary when you think about it." Shawn exclaimed joking with her, as if a detention was something of a threat to a grown adult. Rory explained how he was excited to she her progress at being funnier. "I like to take on the tough projects." Shawn teased slightly speaking to Rory, just interested in where all this might end up going. Either way as long as he got Callisto to have some fun in the end he would be happy with that and Rory seemed to share the same goal as him with tonight.

As they spoke a fourth person joined them, greeting them. Shawn spent the next moment trying to figure out who she was. He would have remembered a pretty red head such as herself if he had met her. That was till she said her name and he figured it all out, having never met her before but heard of her before. "Wait...," Shawn spoke after shaking Emmy's hand now looking toward Rory. "So this is Emmy? The Emmy?" Shawn asked with a smirk toward Rory before laughing slightly. "I'm sorry. He would always tell us back in school about the girl he sent letters to in America. Most of us thought you were made up actually, stories of the pretty girl in America to impress us." Shawn couldn't help but share the last part adding in the pretty part to mess with Rory. Only after hoping Emmy didn't get offended. "It's a pleasure to meet you and know Rory wasn't just writing to himself over the years."

Rory merely smiled and shook his head as he watched Callisto and Shawn interact. It was interesting and he was curious to see how things progressed with them during the night. It was definitely going to be interesting, to say the least. Shawn teased Callisto, talking to Rory about taking the tough projects and he was about to say something in response when Emmy appeared next to him. She was here! "Hey," he answered in response to her greeting, even though she was looking at Callisto and Shawn instead of at him. That was to be expected, since they were the people she didn't know. He noticed Callisto's questioning look after she introduced herself to Emmy and shrugged. He wasn't about to try and explain things now, was he?

Then Shawn started speaking and Rory felt like explaining himself was definitely unnecessary now, since Shawn did it for him. He made a face at his friend when he asked if it was Emmy. "The Emmy." "Yes, this is Emmy," he said, trying to jump in before Shawn got going, but it didn't work. His glare hardened as his friend talked about thinking that Emmy was made up. "You knew all along I wasn't writing to myself," he argued half-heartedly. He didn't really expect Shawn, or Emmy really, to listen to him. He was pretty sure he was about to get teased by both of them. Either way, he was glad that both Shawn and Emmy were here.

"Should we go in?" Rory asked, in an obvious attempt to change the subject.

The first of Rory’s friends to respond to her greeting was the woman in the group, who had dark hair and dark eyes and seemed immediately like someone Emily would get along with wonderfully. Emmy grinned at the other woman, who introduced herself as Callisto and said it was nice to meet her. “Likewise.” Emmy said, trying to convey with her eyes just how nice it was to finally meet another woman – it seemed like most of the people Emmy worked with, from photographers in her modelling work to the other writers in her author world, were men, and she desperately needed a female best friend. Callisto was going to be that whether she wanted to be or not – Emmy had a way of persuading people to see her way anyways. That was how she had roped Rory in, at least.

The man, meanwhile, seemed incredulous at her appearance, and Emmy laughed at his theatrics. “I wouldn’t put it past him.” She teased Rory when Shawn mentioned him writing to himself over the years. This was another person that she was sure she was going to get along with well – they both liked to tease Rory, and what more of a foundation for a relationship would they need? Emmy was pleased that Rory had found such good friends for himself while she was gone, but she had to ignore a small flare of jealousy. She wasn’t being replaced, she told herself – Rory was just adding to the fun.

Emmy nodded when Rory asked if they should go in, already pulling him through the door and into the club. She took a deep breath – the air smelled like body odor and alcohol, but it was beautiful. The dimness was only cut through by the flashing of rainbow strobe lights, and Emmy turned to look at Rory, and hopefully Shawn and Callisto, too. “How do you guys feel about shots?” She asked, already ready to prove her superior alcohol tolerance.

Shawn spoke about giving Callisto detention and a part of her wished she was savvy enough to make some sort of flirtatious comment about how that would go, but she had no idea how to do that. "Very scary," was all she managed to get out. Man, she was not cut out for this stuff. This whole night was going to be a big mistake, especially since Shawn was there being all perfect at this fun thing. Shawn told Rory he liked to take on tough projects and her eyes narrowed at him.

Thankfully, Emmy's arrival broke up the moment, and the focus was on her. Of course Shawn bombarded her with words. Emmy's 'likewise' to her was a breath of fresh air. She seemed down to earth and easy to talk to already. Callisto was sure she would try to stay near her through the remainder of the night... maybe she could help with this Shawn stuff. Whatever that was.

They went into the club at Rory's suggestion, and Emmy suggested shots. Callisto was first and foremost a wine drinker but... she was supposed to be here to loosen up and all. She stood beside Shawn, nodding at Emmy's suggestion, "I guess that's part of why we came, right?"

Callisto commented how detention sounded scary and he laughed slightly knowing she was just kidding. "Hey, keep that up and I'll have you writing lines. I will not roll my eyes at Mr.Ashcroft." Shawn teased, as if he would give someone a detention for that of all things. Still he liked joking about these imaginary situations. They were fun to think about even if they weren't in anyway possible. His mind trailed to other things that could happen with a detention with Callisto as if she probably ever got one while she was in school.

Emmy confirmed it was her while Rory attempted to defend himself stating that everyone knew she was real. "I was willing to believe you but that's just what friends do. Doesn't mean I was always sure. Some of us just assumed you were really attached to your imaginary friend." With that Shawn was done teasing Rory, at least for a little while. He didn't need to embarrass him or go to far so early in the night. "Better than me, I spent a lot of my time annoying first years of all things I could have been doing with my time." Shawn added getting a laugh out of himself for a moment before looking over to Callisto, "right?"

Rory suggested they go inside and with that Shawn assumed this was everyone who was coming. There had already been two surprises with Callisto and with Emilia actually being real and both being here of all things. He followed everyone inside. As they entered Shawn knew it was definitely a club, he knew the smell of alcohol and too many people too well from his past. Emmy asked them about shots and Shawn questioned just how much he should drink for a moment. Callisto brought up that she guessed that's why they were here. "That's up to you, we're here to have some fun and cut loose. I will be having fun by seeing just how many of you I can drink under the table." Shawn joked at the last part a little, while it would be fun to drink like he didn't care he did have a limit and knew it well. Thankfully after the life he had led so it gave him a good level of tolerance.

The good thing was that Emmy seemed to get along just fine with Callisto and Shawn. That was what he hoped for when he invited her, after all. Well, when he invited all three of them. He watched curiously as Emmy and Callisto looked at one another for a moment, but then Shawn started speaking, responding to Emmy teasing Rory. He made a face at the two of them- yes, he knew that wasn't very mature, but he didn't care- as Shawn answered her teasing. He expected this when he invited them both to come, but a part of him hoped it wouldn't get too bad. So far neither of them were really trying to embarrass him, but he knew both could if they wanted.

Emmy pulled him inside, asking if the others were interested in shots. Callisto agreed and Shawn started saying that he would outdrink them all. "I'm game," Rory answered, a little nervous at how this was going to turn out. If Emmy was in a competitive mood, she and Shawn would probably go all out with the shots. He shook his head and laughed, reminding himself that he planned this so they could all relax and have fun.
