Louie wasn't buying the whole 'keeping secrets' was better for them thing. Aside from someone trying to kill her, which was a weird thing to specify. Well, it made sense if she didn't want Lou and Dom going after someone. Dom, however, said she wasn't angry and gave Vics hand another squeeze, which made Vic smile at her and give her sister a short nod. Then, thankfully, Lou changed the subject. Vic had the feeling that he wasn't entirely through with her on this one yet, but maybe it was nice to have a bit of a break. They were all here together, after all, which meant they should be talking about other important things, happier things (if possible) like Louis telling his girlfriend that he loved her.
Vic pulled her hands back and laughed as Dom chided him for not telling her. She shrugged, "I suppose everyone knew I loved Teddy already, considering he was always around when you were kids... I'm not even sure how to keep something romantic a secret," she chuckled. But then she realized she kind of hadn't mentioned Royal, or Odette either. Okay, maybe that would be hard to explain. Focusing on Lou, she said, "and what did she say?"

Louis hesitated; Georgie hadn’t actually said anything back to him, but he didn’t mind being the first one to be ready to say the l word. He didn’t want to make her look bad obviously, but he wasn’t about to lie to his sisters. Mostly because they’d know almost immediately that he was lying. “Well...nothing actually,” Louis started, then quickly continued on so neither of them could speak. “It’s okay though, I sort of had the feeling I was going to be the first one to say I love you anyway with everything that’s happened to her this year. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel that way. I know she does, and she’ll verbalize it when she’s ready,” he closed out his argument firmly with a short nod. He hoped he didn’t sound like he was trying to make excuses for his girlfriend, but honestly if they thought back to what had happened to her this year, being cautious about expressing love was not surprising in the least.
“Teddy was the least surprising news ever Vic. One little breakup wasn’t going to keep you apart forever,” Louis pointed out, tilting his head to one side as he changed the subject, moving from his love life to the eldest of the Weasley Delacour clan. “What about your other friends that used to hang around - Roy and Odette. Why haven’t you mentioned them? They’re alright, right?” he asked, the words tumbling out one after the other. He had always liked both Royal and Odette, but it was odd his sister hadn’t mentioned them much except in passing when she was Minister.

Vic nodded at Dom, which made her smile. She wasn't the instigator of this conversation, not talking much at all, honestly, but she did want to make sure that both of her siblings knew that she was there for them. She wanted to be a support for both of them and felt like she just made that clear to her older sister. She smiled, not fighting when Vic pulled her hands back. Dom leaned back in her chair, watching the two as they spoke. Vic mentioned everyone knowing she loved Teddy and Dom nodded easily. That never was a secret.
She watched her brother with more interest as she waited for him to answer her question. She cocked her head to the side when he said that Georgie didn't say anything when he confessed his feelings. She nodded to show that she understood and wasn't judging his relationship with Georgie, "I'm happy for you, Lou," she managed to say before her mind took off into thoughts about Ethan. He was her first love, and hearing her brother talk about confessing his feelings to Georgie made Dom think about the first time she told Ethan how she felt about him. One week before he died, the two of them were on a date and she'd finally confessed that she loved him. She remembered how tense she felt, nervous that she'd scare him away by being too intense so soon after they started dating, but she hadn't been able to hold it in. He said he loved her back though and she couldn't imagine anything better than being with him.
She heard Louis talking, saying something about Royal and Odette, but Dom wasn't really paying attention anymore. She was drowning in memories of Ethan, memories from before he died when everything was good and her life felt like it was going where it was supposed to. Things weren't like that anymore.

Lou hugged her and she hugged him back, but she knew that wasn't the end of it. Not yet, anyway. Thankfully he changed the subject, and Vic grinned as Dom chastised him for not telling her. Vic leaned toward Lou to squeeze his arm. "My little Lou, all grown up," she turned to Dom, "both of you are. I don't know how it happened," she chuckled. Really, though she wouldn't say it, she was relieved her siblings were so mature. She felt less of a desire to look after them so much as a desire to see them as allies. For now, just siblings was enough, but she had a feeling the adult world would be needing them sooner than not.
(The end!)
