@raina At first, Cordelia thought the girl was going to say that she wanted to have a dog whilst at school – that would have definitely been something else. The fact that they allowed toads in, which in her opinion had never made much sense because they were useful potions ingredients most of the time, did say a lot about Hogwarts. Dogs though, were a different breed of pet altogether. She had always figured that the reasons cats were allowed, aside from their size of course, were the classic depictions of witches and wizards with them by their side. Those were typically from muggles though, which meant that if they were still keeping them as companions to this day, that at one point cats did hold magical properties or were of a higher magical intellect than dogs ever were. Which was kind of funny considering the fact that muggles utilized dogs more as service animals than they ever could with a cat. “Do they n-not like dogs?” Cordelia found herself asking. Not everyone enjoyed bigger animals, assuming the breed of dog the girl was talking about would be a large one. Personally she liked the ones that were larger, only because they seemed to be gentler around her. The little, yappy dogs made her feel uneasy all the time, especially when they tried to nip her fingers.
Cordelia simply nodded her head as the girl continued on about magical creatures. Unfortunately her knowledge was very limited, mostly just to what she had learned about in class. The more volatile, dangerous beasts were the only ones she would need to know about if she ended up pursuing a career as a healer. She was sure the training for that would come along with the apprenticeship at the hospital though, so trying to cram too much information now wouldn’t help her with her studying for final exams. The conversation had turned away towards photography though, as it was almost inevitable to do each time she mentioned it. “Still photos,” Cordelia stated rather firmly. “I l-like how m-muggles create art with stills. M-Moving p-pictures are just kn-knock offs of videos.”

Raina shook her head slightly, giggling as her hair fell into her face - her hand reaching up to brush it back as she hummed and shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know - I mean, I don't know why they wouldn't like dogs. But I think it's more that a dog you can't bring to school - and that means during the school year it'd be them taking care of it rather than me, who wanted it - because I couldn't bring it to school. You know?" she tilted her head before offering another smile and a shrug, "I think after I graduate it might be better, but - for now I am more than happy with my little adventurous Mr. Pickles." she gently pet the now dozing kitten, her eyes lighting up fondly at the gentle purring. She found all animals pretty facinating, both magical and non-magical. But there was something special about all the different kinds of magical beasts, some that were small could even be the more dangerous kind - size didn't always mean dangerous when it came to magic. Still she happily spoke about what the other girl was interested in, listening curiously to her explainations, "Thats facinating." she noted honestly, while she knew a decent amount about muggles and things they did and were into - she still found some things a little puzzling due to not experiencing, "Videos - they are moving pictures too.. right? With sound though.." she nodded slightly she remembered that much, "Do you have any photos of your own? I'd love to see them sometime!" [ cordelia regan smith ]

@raina So she meant that her parents didn’t want to take care of a dog in her stead. That made sense. Cordelia could see the same happening with her, assuming she had begged for a puppy when she was younger, instead of for a cat. Obviously hers didn’t come around until she went to school because they already had the family cat, but still. And if they had a dog, it totally would have gotten beaten up by the cats. There was no way the two of them would let the poor thing ever get a resting moment. They barely let her sit down and relax when she was home. “Y-Yeah I g-get that,” she nodded her head. She was fine with her cat right now too. Dogs were more family oriented too, and thinking about that before she even started her final year at school was way too much at once. One thing at a time for her - that was how it went, and always would. Yes, still photos were fascinating indeed. That was why she took them and dedicated her every waking moment to them. Cordelia knew she was way snarkier and sarcastic in her head than she ever would be out loud, it was hard not to be when every single person always asked her that question. It wasn’t their fault, obviously. They didn’t know, and they were only interested in learning about what she liked. At least in this situation, she wasn’t being distracted from her work. “V-Videos are f-fine. I ju-just don’t think m-moving pictures can be u-used as an art f-form.” They suited newspapers, magazines, and family photos perfectly; she would dare to say that was their only purpose, but she still managed to see them floating around occasionally. But she would never be caught with one of those cameras in her hands. It would be too much of a betrayal. “I already st-started p-packing them away for home…” Cordelia explained, biting down on her bottom lip. “B-But I’ll have them out n-next year.” That was a lie. She just didn’t want to get up and go get the binders out and spend hours explaining what each photograph was about. Her Charms book next to her was a constant reminder that she had to get back to studying. Picking it up again, she gave Mr. Pickles another pat on the head before standing up. “I-I should get b-back to studying,” Cordelia explained, giving her housemate a small wave before returning back to her dorm room, where she would maybe actually get to work for once.
