Her emotions rushed through him like a fire burning down a forest. He could feel himself heading down the path where he could get overwhelmed, but he did what he practiced and focused on the task at hand instead of the emotions. Her lips, her smell, her taste. While he focused, the emotions blended together with his in a way that wasn't hard to bear, but rather was like a beautiful dance inside him. For a moment, he wished she knew how that felt. He had never, ever wished anyone knew how he felt. When the voice came and Irina broke away, Dan kept his eyes on her for a moment longer before turning to the waiter. He kept one arm around her on the back of the bench as her hand pulled away from his face. He felt a short spurt of sadness at that, but the happier feelings way overpowered that. He nodded to the waiter too, smiling but breathing a little heavily. Game? Checkers? He turned to Irina, and her smile was mischievous and snarky. He narrowed his eyes at her, "what game did you ask them about, Rin?"Irina Rose Krum

Irina saw his eyes narrow and her smile widened into more of a smirk. "Well I asked them to check if they had a few; Clue, Sorry, The Game of Life," she explained, saving the last one for last on purpose. She was certain he'd remember why she had asked for that last game, as they had played it the night they had first said they had loved each other back at the Room of Requirement. It seemed so long ago, even though not even a year had passed from the date. They had both grown, both physically and mentally, and she was beginning to see just how much.
Irina reached for the fork and knife and cut herself a good piece of the steak and ale pie, making sure to balance out the meat and the pastry for the best combination. As daintily as one can when it came to pies, she took the bite, and closed her eyes as she savored the taste. "Oh my word, this is to DIE for," she declared, not helping herself and taking another bite. Merlins beard that was GOOD.
She glanced over at Dan as she began to set up the checkers board and scanned him quickly for any signs that he needed a breather - she could always use the loo to give him a few minutes to collect himself. It was part of why she had been so mad at herself for being so nervously awkward at the beginning of the night, because she knew he could feel it too and she didn't want him to feel like she didn't want to be around him. He seemed surprisingly okay; no hands shaking or tremors. He was breathing rather heavily, but then again so was she - it was hard not to be after that. Still, he had been so good at hiding his ability from the world that only a select few people even knew about it, so she had to check. "Do you need a minute?" she asked him in a low voice, trying to mask the slight concern before realizing he'd just feel it anyway. "I can go to the loo, I probably need to er, freshen p a bit," she added with a light laugh.

Daniel smirked back as she said which games she asked for. "Awe, shame they didn't have them," he said, "though they are probably hard to play while eating," he guessed. They took a lot of thought and pieces that you wouldn't want mixed in your food. When she reached for the utensils he reached for the water, taking a sip as she surveyed the food and gave her verdict. He grinned, "give me that fork," he said, setting down the glass to reach for it. As he took a bite himself she started to set up the game. He could tell she was concerned about him, and tried to ignore her looking him over. He slowly was starting to catch his breath when she spoke, asking him if he needed a minute. His brow furrowed a little, "that is really nice of you to offer," he said honestly, but then he shook his head. "If you want to go freshen up," he chuckled, "you can, but you can stay too. Though," he looked down at the game, "when we eventually do actually get to talking about us we might need to go somewhere with more air."Irina Rose Krum

Irina nodded, feeling relieved to know that he was doing okay. This time eight months ago, she couldn't be sure he'd say the same thing, and to see how he had progressed when he went back to Durmstrang was...amazing. He clearly had worked on understanding his ability better, and Irina certainly knew her emotions could get a little extreme sometimes. That was her father in her; he had always been such a passionate and fiercely competitive Quidditch player, so of course at least one of his kids had to live their life like he did. She was stubborn too though, and it had taken her a good deal of time to come to terms with the fact that she hadn't always made it easy for him to be with her. Through a lot of soul searching, yoga, and meditations, Irina had finally been able to come to peace with everything. Of course, she hadn't entirely lost the thought of a possible reunion with Dan, how could she had when she had loved...no, still loved him deeply. But she hadn't thought it would happen this sudden, and yet...Irina was surprisingly okay with that.
"Hey! Say please," she exclaimed, mock scolding him as he plucked the fork from her fingers. She finished setting up the game and made the executive decision that she was going to be red, mostly because it was closer to her. She moved her first piece when Dan asked that when they did talk about the "us" factor, they would go somewhere with more air. She chuckled, and nodded. "We're close to the River Thames walkway, and Saint Pauls Cathedral is nearby too with a cute little courtyard right in front," she suggested. She popped another french fry in her mouth and rested her chin on her hand. "Your move," she told him, nodding to the checkers board.

Daniel felt her relief, which was nice. He hoped that she'd still understand when he did need the space, though. He had a feeling she would, since she had offered to give him space. He chuckled when she told him to 'say please' for the fork, feeling her amusement and his own. She moved a piece of the game and he watched. He nodded at her words as he leaned forward to move his own with one hand while preparing another bite with the other. "Sounds cool. I need to explore London, anyway," he said casually, dropping his piece in place and leaning back again. "Now yours," he said, nodding toward the chess piece again. He leaned all the way back on the bench, sighing a little with content. "I suppose this British food is pretty good," he said slowly, smirking. Irina Rose Krum

Irina raised an eyebrow as Dan relented to admitting that this British food was 'pretty good'. He was one hundred percent German, and she knew how the Germans got about their food, since her own mother was the same way. "I'm SO glad you're finding it up to your impossibly high German standards," she said teasingly, snatching the fork away from him and taking the bite right off his fork. It was cheeky, and perhaps a little bit bold, but he had just gone in for a full out snog in the middle of a pub; compared to that this was pretty tame. She nodded in agreement when he said he had wanted to explore London more; as someone who lived on the thrill of adventure, Irina completely understood the feeling. "I'll have more time to explore once I actually live in the city though. I'm going to start looking for a room somewhere near Diagon probably mid July," she told him, moving her next checkers piece with a small flourish. It would be easier of course if Irina had somewhere to live right at the start of her Cursebreaking career, but she had made a promise to her baby sister Raina, and it was one she intended to keep. Speaking of Raina..."My parents bought Rai and I tickets to see a West End show next week actually. It's called..." Irina scrunched her face, trying to remember the name of the musical. "Mamma Mia!" she exclaimed, laughing a little at the name. She had no idea what it was about, or if she'd even like it, but she was excited to spend some quality time with her baby sister before she started work. She had been told there were plenty of fun dance numbers; she and Raina would have loads of fun.
They continued their game, talking and eating. The atmosphere was light and enjoyable, with a touch of sarcasm and sass every so often, as Irina got competitive regardless of the game she was playing. It didn't get ugly though, and soon they only had several pieces scattered across the checked board. "Okay, so I know you said that this British food was pretty good, but," Irina began, before hopping one of his pieces to reach the edge. "King me and I'll be back in a flash," she told him, scooting out of the booth and placing a final order with the barman. She went to use the restroom and by the time she came back, their dessert was being brought out. Irina sat back down with a flounce of her skirt and beamed. "Daniel Hoh, I present to you, sticky toffee pudding," she said proudly. She knew he could feel her excitement, but she wanted his reaction to be genuine, so she pulled herself into the present moment, focusing on the treat in front of them. She held out the spoon for him to take the first bite. She wanted to watch his reaction when he tried it; he liked pudding in general, but there was something about an English old fashioned made sticky toffee pudding that just hit the spot.

Dan laughed as Irina made fun of him and his German standards. Germans made good food! He couldn't help that. She took the fork back and he glared. Maybe they should ask for another fork, but this was too much fun. She said she'd have more time to explore once she moved to the city. "Are you at your parents right now?" he asked. Of course she was, where else would she be? It was a stupid question. "I'm living in a dinky little place right now, only temporarily until I find something more permanent here. I was thinking of asking your brother but... dunno," he shrugged. He wasn't sure if he wanted a roommate. Living alone would be better and he'd be making plenty of money. She mentioned a West End show and Daniel laughed again, "sounds like an Abba song," he said. Yes, he knew Abba via his father the muggle. The man was a sucker for disco music and eighties. That's how Dan had such great taste in music. "I talked to Raina since the last time I saw you actually..." he said slowly. Eventually they finished a game and the food, and Iriana left and came back with a determination for him to try this sticky toffee pudding. "Okaaaay," he said slowly, leaning forward to scoop a bite up. Then he turned toward her, "you need to relax right now. It's just pudding," his voice was weirdly snappy and he shook his head right as she seemed to realize she was being excitable and calmed herself. "Okay, here we go," he said, tone much calmer now, trying the pudding. Irina Rose Krum

Irina nodded, though she noticed the slight reaction he had after asking and knew he realized that as well. “Made a promise to my baby sister,” she told him. She listened as he explained how he was living in a dingy place that hopefully wasn’t too permanent. If a place was being described as dingy by him, Irina could only imagine what kind of situation that was. Her brother did have a rather large house that Dan could easily move into, but she didn’t know where their friendship stood at this point. Obviously they had been the best of friends since childhood, but with Irina dating Dan, then him breaking up with her, she knew there had been a bit of a rift in their friendship that she was directly responsible for. She felt a little guilty about that, but at the same time she knew this was something only her brother and Daniel could truly mend; trying to get into the middle (again) would just make things worse.
As Dan snapped at her to relax as it was just pudding, Irina reacted like she had been stung. It was numbed from the months apart but still she could feel a little bit of hurt trickling into her state of mind like venom. “I forgot something in the bathroom,” she said quickly, scooting the long way around the table and walking as quickly as didn’t seem adrift as she made her way into the bathroom. She gripped the sides of the sink and took a deep inhale through her nose, and exhaled slowly through her mouth. She closed her eyes, and focused on her inner self. Was she really mad, or was it a snap reaction to his tone? Another deep breath, and she accepted it was the latter. She did not feel angry, or hurt; it was only sticky toffee pudding after all, she had just gotten a little over-excited. It was okay, it was her favorite dessert after all, and she knew she had to get back if she wanted a bite of it.
Inhaling and exhaling one last time, she left the bathroom and swept back to the table, grabbing a second spoon on her way and taking a seat. “Found my lipstick underneath one of the stalls,” she said by way of explanation, moving her long black hair so it hung behind her shoulders. “So...Raina?” she began, not wanting him to think she had forgotten that conversation starter. “Was it a week ago? She babbled about meeting some friend of hers in Diagon Alley, but she couldn’t quite meet my eye,” she asked him, not helping to feel a little curious.

She said she made a promise to Raina, in reference to her being at home. That made sense. But, after he snapped at her, Irina excused herself, her feelings of heart trickling through the air after her. He almost stood, "Ri-" but instead just sighed and stayed put, fiddling with the checkers piece as he waited. He took in a deep breath. Then released it. Then took another one. Maybe four or five. That was what he was taught to do when he was starting to lose his cool. Plus, he and Irina were adults now. They could talk about this stuff without him having to get snappy. Soon she was back, though, and her emotions seemed better, but he didn't buy it. She mentioned lipstick and he didn't respond. She asked about Raina, since they were just talking about her, "uh... it was after I saw you," he said, not remembering exactly what day it was. "Rin," his voice grew serious, "I told her about me."Irina Rose Krum

Irina saw right away Dan did not buy her lipstick comment for one second. "Hey," she said softly, then reached out and placed her hand on his wrist, her fingers lightly enclosing around it. "We can talk more about this later, but I know how I feel can be...pretty passionate sometimes. I just needed to step away and take a breath, recognize I was just snap reacting. I've taken up meditation and yoga, and that's what we're taught to do if we feel negative energy starting to overtake us," she told him, then chuckled softly. She probably sounded like a crazy hippie to him right now; she certainly did to herself. But without the practice, Irina didn't know if she would still be sitting here at this table with Daniel. Perhaps one day, if things went well, she'd take him to a yoga class. Briefly, Irina couldn't help but picture Dan trying to balance in tree pose, and she chuckled to herself again.
She squeezed his wrist before bringing her hand back to the spoon for the pudding. She had a bite, ready to shovel it into her mouth when Dan's face grew serious and he spilled that he had told Raina about his ability. She froze, surprised, with her bite hovering midair and her mouth open for a moment before coming to her senses and setting it down. "Dan that's.....wow," she breathed. Well that certainly would explain Raina's weird demeanor when she came home; not only had she seen Dan, but she had found out he was an Empath. "How do you feel? Now that she knows?" she asked him. She wanted to know what Raina thought too of course, but in the present moment she wanted to know how Dan had handled telling another Krum about his ability.

Irina wasn't stupid. She could read him almost as well as he could read her, even without powers. She took his his and he looked up at her, letting her talk. He nodded at her words, impressed actually. Stepping away to catch a breath was something neither of them had been very good at. "That... I can accept that. I mean, I like that," he said slowly with a nod. "Maybe I should try that yoga stuff," he chuckled, completely joking, having no idea that she would probably thing that was a great idea. "Thank you for telling me," he said softly, giving a nod. See? Communication was key. She took her hand away to start working on the pudding, which he hadn't touched yet. He felt bad that his news had stopped her from eating it, but it was too late now. She was clearly surprised that he had told Raina, but he thought she was happy too. "I feel fine," he said, smiling smally, "I think it was easier for her than thinking I don't - didn't love you," he said. "I didn't want her to get the wrong impression and... well, the more people know the easier my life gets, actually. Almost my whole school knew by the end of the year."Irina Rose Krum

Irina’s smile widened as Dan suggested that perhaps he should take up yoga. “You can...you can always try a class out, with me. Or without, whatever works,” she suggested, not wanting to make it seem mandatory that he HAD to go with her his first time. She couldn’t help but really want to see that firsthand though. “The teacher a friend of mine introduced me to is nearby my parent’s home; she is from Argentina originally, and so her voice not only is soothing but the accent just...there’s something about it that calms the nerves,” she told him, knowing it was probably an odd way to describe her teacher. She could have talked about how she was an easy woman to talk to, and how she always had some odd story about her former yoga instructors coming to her classes, but whenever she thought of her, Irina immediately would remember her voice and feel a shade more relaxed. “Dmitri came with me one time. Note the emphasis on one time,” she added, mentioning her older brother experiencing yoga at her request. It had been an interesting day to say the least.
Listening intently to Dan’s words, Irina couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride surge up from within her. The progress he had made in the last few months, let alone the last year, had to be record breaking, if there was a record for that sort of thing. “Dan that’s...wow, I don’t think I can express how happy and proud I feel right now through words,” she said softly, knowing he'd feel how she felt right in that moment. She found herself wanting to kiss him again, and was instinctively leaning in a little before catching herself. So instead, she took his hand and entwined their fingers together. Every time it had happened tonight, it had reminded her more and more of how good it felt to simply hold his hand. With her other hand, she finally took a bite of that beautiful toffee pudding. It was still warm, gooey and delicious; Irina savored the bite before finally swallowing. “Okay, your turn,” she said, scooping up a piece of the pudding and holding it out to him. Whether he took the spoon or the bite from her was completely his choice now.

Dan didn't want to picture his best friend doing yoga, even just one time. He chuckled. "Maybe meditation first. Never done a guided one, just on my own," he explained. Aside from some instruction, he hadn't had someone lead him through it. He was glad she had found an instructor she liked, though. That was important when being so vulnerable with someone. He felt that pride coming from her as he spoke, and she said how she couldn't express how she felt through words. "Awe, but remember-" he pointed at her nose, "you don't have to." He clicked his tongue as he pulled his finger back, smiling. Then she was taking his hand and he took in a long deep breath. It was fine, just a nice hand hold. her emotions were positive and nice, anyway. She took a bite of the pudding and said it was his turn, holding out a bite to him. "Hmmm..." he considered his options but then reached forward to take the spoon himself, taking the bite. "That's good!" he said after he finished. "Good thing I have you to guide me through British food."Irina Rose Krum

Irina snickered, oddly satisfied that Dan had a weird mental image of Dmitri doing yoga in his head. It had been rather amusing to witness, and she was pretty sure her big brother had realized it, as he had not come again. “Meditation is a good place to start,” she agreed, still smirking slightly. “There are two incredibly simple yoga positions that you can incorporate meditation in - one is just sitting cross legged and straight backed, eyes closed. The other is lying completely flat on your back, arms at your sides, legs out straight - that’s shavasana, or Dead Man’s pose.” Irina paused, grinning sheepishly. It was ironic how much she had just spat out about yoga and meditation when the very idea of the practice was to be in pure silence, with perhaps some calming music involved. She preferred the calming music to complete silence personally, as her mind tended to wander more when there was no noise. Fortunately this particular teacher was of the same mindset and always was playing soothing, gentle music in the background.
Irina wrinkled her nose at him when he reminded her that she didn’t have to verbally articulate anything when it came to her feelings. Of course she knew that, but Irina had always been a person who liked to verbally tell people their feelings. Dan was the only empath she had ever met, and after being apart for several months it would take some time to remember she could just feel, and not speak. She did feel a bit of a twinge of relief when Dan took the spoon from her; her feeding him the pudding had seemed a bit much since they weren’t even in a relationship, and, if that was where this was headed back towards, they needed to move at a slower, smoother pace. She knew how badly her passionate personality had gotten to him in December, and she had harbored a lot of guilt over it after he left. It was why she had taken up yoga in the first place after all. She was pleased to see his positive reaction towards the pudding though, and she smiled. “I will be happy to be your guide throughout all British foods, as I have likely tried most of them,” she declared with a giggle. She did enjoy eating, and she had discovered some comfort foods that were strictly British she had become partial to. Like sausage rolls. Those they could save for later though.
“So, I want to hear about your...football practice. How are you enjoying being on the same team as my brother?” she asked him, grabbing the other spoon so she could partake in the eating of the sticky toffee pudding. She knew Dan would get the reference; not only was he a halfblood, but his own father was a retired footballer. Irina highly doubted anyone was listening to their conversation, but with the Statute of Secrecy still in effect, she was always careful.

Her satisfaction feeling wafted over to him, making him roll his eyes. She spoke more about yoga and his brow furrowed a little as he listened, nodding as well. "Dead Man's Pose? That sound like my cup of tea," he assured her. Speaking of tea, she said she was glad to be his guide through British foods. He grinned, wiggling his eyebrows at her. "I am ready for your expertise."Then she brought up the Quidditch and Dmitri and he chuckled. "It's been sparing so far, but good. Dmitri and I haven't actually been able to talk one on one since I moved to town. I think we're getting together this week," he explained. "I think I'm pretty good at keeping up with the guys, even though they are way more experience than I am," he explained. Irina Rose Krum
