She gave a laugh, which seemed like a small miracle. He was glad his joke worked, and he was planning on making more... if they came as naturally as the last one. As for Edmund, she said that she hadn't seen him since before school ended, saying that he did a lot of thinking. Will nodded, pursing his lips a little. Ed didn't have to be as social as he was but... it would still be nice if he had some good friends. Lily added that Ed already had a good influence that he didn't realize. One that made her kind of jealous. At first, he wasn't sure hat she was talking about, but then he sort of guessed. She could have been meaning him, or even Susan. Will didn't know her older siblings that well, but the fact that he was jealous of Edmunds 'good influences' made his face contort a little in concern. "Do you need a good influence, Lil? Rumor has it I'm not that bad at that," he suggested, only half joking. He couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride at the idea about Lily thinking that Will was a good influence on his brother. Sometimes he felt like he was... but other times he really, really didn't. The waitress arrived and set their drinks in front of them after a moment, letting them know the food would be out shortly. lily luna potter

@will Merlin…did she need a good influence? Probably. Jamie was definitely the one person she looked up to the most and who would always be there for her no matter what happened, but Lily knew that her werewolf sister was also an enabler of sorts. The Hufflepuff probably didn’t even know it either. Almost everyone enabled her though, and that was part of the problem she was having. When everything had gone to hell, she still didn’t have anyone to tell her off or keep her from going wild. She had expected that of all times for it to happen, it should have been now. The fact that she had so easily escaped the house and wandered all the way into London was more than enough to get her grounded for weeks (not that it would have mattered in the slightest in the past), but she was sure the most she would get upon arriving home was a slap on the wrist and a lecture about the dangers of wandering around. And then there would be more crying from her mum and probably her as well. “I don’t know if I deserve one…” she mumbled right as the drinks got to the table. Almost everyone that she had considered a good influence for her had bailed or gone missing. What she really needed was someone to keep her from self-destructing. Everything that Will and Jamie had told her so far was fine and dandy, but they wouldn’t be at school next year, and trying to survive the entire term off wise words offered at the start was going to be impossible to keep up. “But I’ve heard you’re okay at it,” she offered Will another weak smile before scooping up her glass of water with both hands and sipping at it.

Lily, after a moment, said that she didn't know if she 'deserved' a good influence, her voice a mumble as the drinks arrived. Will nodded to the waitress, then turned back to Lily as she said that she had also heard he was okay at it. He shrugged, picking up his own glass of water with one hand, since his other was still on the back of her chair, and taking a small sip before setting it down. "Well, I'll do my best. Not that I expect you to listen to anything I say," he chuckled, "but maybe you'll find some value in it. To be fair, I was a pretty reckless lion myself back in my school days," he admitted. She hadn't seen the worst of it, really, since those were his earlier years. Between mooning after Claire and messing around with Cassius and Arden, he was a pretty pretentious brat around Hogwarts. Sure, he was charming and could be fun to be around, but he was loud and obnoxious about his abilities, proud and insane when it came to trying to impress people and his friends. He didn't think Lily Potter was trying to impress anyone, though. Lily seemed like the type who did everything she did for herself, and he respected that. Maybe that was something she should try doing the opposite with, just to get a different perspective... doing things for other people. Well, maybe that advice could be given later. lily luna potter

@will Will said he would do his best, and she nodded her head. Despite him adding that he didn’t expect her to listen to any of it, she was going to this time. Any advice on what to do was extremely appreciated at this point in her life. She didn’t know what to do anymore or how to get back to how she was before. Climbing back up to get kicked back down proved to be a difficult thing to convince herself of, especially after being burned so many times already. She knew she was being somewhat of a diva at times, and that other people probably had it worse, but having to experience it all at once within such a short span of time was more than she had ever handled before. Trying to juggle Adrian and her dad at the same time was insanely hard for her to do.
Her head turned to look up at Will as he said that he had been reckless while in school as well. That was something she had never heard before. Will, the piece of royal man-meat, reckless? Lily let out a quiet, yet explosively awkward laugh at his comment. It was confirmed, none of this was reality and she had drank something poisonous in Potions again. The only explanation for any of this was that it was a dream or she was hallucinating. Unfortunately she knew that wasn’t the truth, and this was reality. Still, Will being a wild-child didn’t seem to fit, and Lily narrowed her eyes at him after her laughter cut off. “You sure you want to give someone like me privileged information like that?” she asked, half-teasing but also serious about it at the same time. If this was the key to escaping her funk then she would be stealing it away for herself for all of eternity. The regular her would have used it as a blackmail tactic to get what she wanted (for fun, of course). Those were the good old days.

Lily seemed unsure about him saying that he was reckless in school, but he expected that. He didn't bother making a big deal out of it or hiding it. It was just fact, and if there was anything Will believed in it was making fact known. She laughed a little and he waited for her to stop, her eyes narrowing, as she questioned him giving her that 'privileged' information. He shook his head, "it's not that privileged, I'm afraid. No use hiding who you are, were or even who you want to be, I think," he explained. "It was easy for me to grow up, though. Being the eldest of four without a dad," he explained. "I'm not sure who I would be if say Susan or Edmund were older than me... I don't think I would be this, though," he admitted, his voice dropping in volume a little. He turned his head toward his glass of water, holding it in his hand and shaking his head a little, "I think I would have done something drastic. Maybe been more like you now," he added. lily luna potter

@will Not privileged? So others knew about that side of him? Obviously classmates from when he was in school, but that was something she had never seen while they both attended at the same time. Extenuating circumstances changed a lot of that, she was sure, but still. Lily got the idea behind hiding who she was and all that. She was never afraid of that. What she was afraid of now though, were the criticisms on her character following everything that had happened. Did this mean she was going to be under a more scrutinizing gaze, expected to be something she wasn’t for the sake of her name? “So…did you not want to be responsible but felt like you had to be?” she asked slowly. Taking responsibility for her actions had never happened. That wasn’t her. “Because I don’t want to be something I’m not.” As for his thoughts on if he wasn’t the oldest sibling, she didn’t respond. That probably wouldn’t have changed who he was, but how he got there would be different. It was similar to how she would always be the same, regardless of the werewolf in her. The only thing that changed was having to be careful around the full moon and a higher metabolism. “Out of control then?” she asked, tilting her head as she tried to figure out what he meant by being like her. “Or not a care in the world? Sometimes I don’t like being like that. It makes this harder because no one will take me seriously when I really need help the most.” This time there had been more than enough support. But who was to say it would always be like that?

She asked him another question, and he listened closely before answering. It was a deep conversation, that was for sure. "I think at first, yes. I didn't want to be but felt I had to... but I grew to like it. I liked being the one people were looking to for answers. The one who worried about the others and made decisions to help them," he explained slowly. "I never once wanted to replace my dad, but there was a sort of pride and reverence in stepping in his shoes and taking some of his responsibilities... I think, sometimes..." he paused, trying to figure out how to word it, "sometimes we start doing things out of a sense of duty and it becomes what we want. It depends. Never know if you don't try, though. And if you don't like it you can always let it go. I guess I was lucky," he explained. She guessed that he meant she was 'out of control' and he furrowed his brows a little in worry that he had offended her. She suggested maybe the 'not a care in the world' mentality was more what he was trying to say. Then she gave him a precious piece of information, one that he didn't think she realized how precious it really was. That she sometimes didn't like being the way she was, someone that people didn't take seriously when she needed help the most. He took a breath, taking his time to formulate a response to that. "I think, deep down, we're really the same, Lily. We just landed in different circumstances," he explained slowly, "people don't always take my hardships seriously because they think I can handle anything, because I pretend I can," he admitted, "and maybe people don't take yours seriously because they don't think you care. But we both care, very deeply, and... I honestly am not sure how to change people's perspective of that,"lily luna potter

@will Making the shift from what she had always been like to being responsible, and that was in the strictest definition of responsibility, would be more than difficult. Anyone could say it was simple – take responsibility for her actions, act more mature, or take initiative in a professional manner (instead of her typical tomfoolery). But that was easier said than done. Lily understood what Will was trying to get at thought. Bridging the fine line between being a better version of herself, and utilizing the aforementioned ‘responsible’ methods would take time, and she felt like it had to be done right now, considering the circumstances. It was possible that this rushed feeling was part of the problem, and that going about it at a slower manner and pacing herself would lead to a more fruitful outcome. Working in what-ifs was a pain. Slouching in her chair even more than she already had been, Lily let out another sigh. Even doing that was starting to get old as of late, and unfortunately there was no other way around it. “Does letting go work though? Isn’t that the same as giving up?” She didn’t really believe one way or the other, there had been plenty of times where homework was simply too hard for her and she pushed it aside and refused to look at it again. The difference here, though, was that letting go meant forgetting, and she didn’t want to do that either.
Despite getting her own questions in, Will continued on, and she listened. That seemed like the only thing she could do, because messing with her own ideas on what she should or should not be doing hadn’t gotten her anywhere thus far. He said that they were the same, albeit in slightly different circumstances, and she nodded her head. That made sense. Jamie had always understood when she had problems, but it looked like Will actually knew what she was feeling at the moment. “So continuing to be myself, or a better version of myself, is the answer?” Pretending wasn’t hard, though having to do it over and over again did add up, and it had unfortunately culminated at this point in time.

Lily asked if letting go was the same as giving up, and Will shook his head. "Lily," he started firmly, "sometimes letting go is the bravest thing you can do. I know that's hard to believe for most people, but finding the appropriate inaction is just as important as finding action. Letting go of something that doesn't work for you isn't giving up, it's choosing to remove something from your life that doesn't serve you. There's no reason to continue something if it isn't making you happy," he explained. That was hard for him when it came to his siblings, though. He wanted to let go of his issues with Edmund and just unconditionally love the guy, but it was impossible to do so. He was too stubborn and too caught up in what he thought his brother could be that he couldn't look past who Edmund already was. "As long as you remember what you learned, you can move past things in a healthy way," he added. Learning from every experience was important. She questioned what he meant, asking if continuing to be herself or 'a better version' of herself was the answer, and Will paused to think for a moment. "I think... trusting yourself, is the answer. And if yourself wants to feel bad, then feel bad. If yourself wants to move forward, then move forward. At some point you have to actually decide who you are, instead of just letting things happen to you." lily luna potter

@will She hadn’t expected this to get super introspective, but here she was, sitting in a restaurant with a magical prince and learning how to deal with herself. These sorts of things were only supposed to happen to important people, and lately she hadn’t felt all that important. At least not like she used to. The idea that letting go was braver than suffering through it all was foreign, but she understood it nonetheless. It was like removing broken candy bars from her stash because they were all crumbly – why waste her time on something that wasn’t whole or going to ever give her the same feeling that a full candy bar would? Will made sense when she imagined her candy bar scenario alongside what he was saying. “So it’s the same as learning from your mistakes. Kind of,” she expressed her thoughts on all of it.
Will responded to her second question as she thought about the previous one, explaining that trusting herself was the only real answer to any of this. Somewhere in the last few months, she had gotten lost. Trying to feel sorry for herself and wanting others to do the same thing had negatively impacted her outlook, causing her to become negative and agitated all the time. Trusting herself was literally what made her, her. She knew that already. “Why do you always have to make sense Will?” she smiled weakly at the realization. Letting go and staying true to herself didn’t mean she wasn’t allowed to feel, and feeling didn’t mean that she was slipping away either. In that same vein, going with the flow was fine, but losing herself in it all was not. Lily was almost positive that she understood where she had to go with that now. Leaning back in her chair, Lily let out another gigantic sigh, her tiny body expanding and collapsing with the deep inhale and exhale. A lot of work was going to have to be put into this in order to get back to where she had been prior, but she knew she could do it.

"Exactly," Will answered, as she said it was like learning from your mistakes. "It just doesn't have to be considered a mistake, just a different experience," he shrugged. It was a hard lesson to learn, that not every failed quest or journey was a mistake. And that, really, you didn't have to call them 'fails' at all. It wasn't something he was very good at right away, but with practice he had learned to accept things that happened however they happened, even if he did do everything in his power to have control of the situation. He still tried to have as much control as possible in certain instances, but he could accept when things went a different way than he had pictured. She asked why she always had to make sense and he chuckled, squeezing her shoulder again with the arm that was wrapped around the back of her chair. "Not always, just when I have to," he countered, slightly joking at the fact that this sentence didn't even make that much sense. Just then, their food arrived and Will released Lily's shoulders in order to start working on his. "Hopefully that food helps more than any of my advice did," he teased as the two of them continued to enjoy their meal. He wished he could be at the school with Lily during all this... but she had friends, cousins, family. She'd be alright. lily luna potter (THE END FINALLY)
