It was the end of May and things had been rather insane the last few weeks. Susan had graduated, the ship and carriage had been attacked, and Will's Uncle was very, very sick. If he died then... Will would move up as third in line for the throne. As much as Will wanted to be the King of England, he wasn't fond of it happening anytime soon. Thankfully, the others in line ahead of him weren't as old or frail as his uncle, so it was possible that he wouldn't be king at all. Still, it was a sobering thought. The past six months had been intense for Will, and he was starting to integrate the magical world back into his life, but slowly. He and Finn had become friends during that time, but saw each other sparingly due to his commitment to his muggle work. Today, however, would be her first time at the Windsor Castle. He had invited her to see his swords and, if she was willing, he would teach her a little fencing as well. He waited out front, where the guards at the gate would direct her to when she arrived. finn kylie nottingham

@will She was visiting a castle. That still hadn’t registered in her head fully, and the few times she had tried to write it down to brag to her little sister about it, she decided not to follow through with it. That probably fell under that secrecy statute over here, especially considering the Windsor family children were all magical inhabitants as well. Oh the problems that would cause if it got loose. And her sixteen year old sister had been known to be a blabbermouth about things in the past. Luckily Finn had wizened to it over the years and made sure to omit anything that sounded unrealistic to a listening no-maj ear. She couldn’t be an enforcer and break the secrets concerning their world at the same time. The horrors of what MACUSA or the Ministry would do in that instance were virtually unimaginable.
Finn knew she shouldn’t have been nervous about the visit. She had talked with Will frequently enough over the last half a year, and figured they were close enough to be friends at this point. But the whole royalty and castle thing…he looked like a normal person to her, another no-maj born thrust into the world of magic without fully understanding or grasping what it all meant. They both knew what it was about now, of course, and the events following the closing of the Triwizard Tournament earlier in the month were a brutal reminder. The frequent Order meetings and discussions of what happened next had taken up a lot of her free time. Thankfully this trip would serve as a way to break it up, not to mention that she had been rather interested in his sword collection from the day they had met. Normal people didn’t have swords and sets of armor lying around in their homes, so coming across one, yet alone an innumerable amount, was something she had to bear witness to.
Slowly making her way up to the gate, Finn apprehensively got the attention of one of the guards. She gave him her name, and was immediately let in through the gate. As they closed it behind her, he gave her detailed instructions to follow the path up to the main entrance. Nodding her head in a somewhat bewildered stupor about how easy all of this was, Finn forced her feet to start walking again. The vast grounds lay before her, and it was odd casually strolling down the entrance road to a castle. This was only supposed to happen in movies and books to people like her. After a few minutes of walking, she finally neared the spot she assumed the guards were talking about. Out front stood Will, and Finn raised a hand to wave at him as she got closer. “This is kind of weird. Everything here is yours.”

He saw her up ahead and moved toward her. She raised a hand to wave and spoke, and he chuckled, shaking his head. "Not mine. My families. I mean I've got my mother and my three siblings here, too," he said, rolling his eyes a little to feign annoyance. He turned toward the castle, looking up toward the top and then back to her, "come on," he nudged her elbow with his and started to move ahead, "the good stuff is inside," he explained. The doors were opened for them by two men in grey suits and he led her in, walking slowly. Most people who came here for the first time wanted to take in the details, so he didn't rush. He'd seen it all before, of course. The long hallway with the many doors. The white carpet with gold trim and the dark ebony wood lining the walls. The ceilings weren't incredibly high in this hallway, but she would see plenty of high ceilings later on. "I've got that wing over there, which we'll head toward. My sisters are back on the west side," he nodded that direction, "and Ed's got his own space, as well as my mum. Usually we all spend time together in the courtyard or in the main sitting room, over here," he explained, gesturing to a door up ahead that a man had opened for them.

@will Finn nodded her head as if she understood everything that he had just said. It was still a huge amount of land, and the building…she didn’t actually know what the size of the building was, since it was hard to gauge the scale just by walking up to it. Large, immense, probably stupidly elegant looking inside. Everything that her little apartment wasn’t. “I have a dog and a roommate in my place,” Finn joked. “Although the roommate thing is a new addition. Was just me and the dog for a while.” Having Luke moving in was welcome company. There had been points in time over the last half a year where being alone all hours of the day started to add up. She could only talk to her dog so much before even he started to give her weird looks.
“Am I about to have my mind blown by all of this?” she asked as she stepped through the threshold. If there was ever a stupid question, that was going to be it. There were also doormen to let them in, because why wouldn’t there be? And here she had assumed Will was another normal guy the first time they had met. Nope. He had all of this (or rather, his family did). It was unbelievable even though she was seeing it all in front of her. Trying to take in every little detail at the same time was impossible; managing one thing at a time, whether it was the carpet, or the design of the wood, was difficult enough as it was. Will explained that he had one part, which was where they would be, and that his siblings and mother each had their own areas as well. Finn had a bedroom, bathroom, and shared kitchen and living space. She guessed that she could probably fit the square footage of her apartment in the entranceway they were in at least a dozen times. Another door was opened as she looked around, and Will pointed towards it. “In there?” Finn asked as she started towards it. This apparently led to their main living room, which again, she could probably fit her apartment inside comfortably multiple times. This was all mind-boggling.

Finn said that she had a dog and a roommate and he grinned, nodding to show he was listening. "I was going to say, you'd never mentioned a roommate before. Do you like it?" Will wasn't sure he would be the best roommate, in all honesty. He was a it messy, something that most people wouldn't expect. Granted, if his mother had his way the house staff would clean his room and living space up for him, but he liked this where they were. Granted, last night, he had let them help him tidy up because he had Finn coming over today. Still, some things were still draped over chairs and on desks out in the open. He didn't like it looking like no one lived there, not like the rest of the place. Finn asked if she was about to have her mind blown and he just gave her a wicked grin, not answering. The home would speak for itself. He nodded as she moved toward the open door, leading to the sitting room. "Yeah, this is the most 'homey' part, I think," he said. It still was fancy and way too tidy, but you could see little traces of humans living there. "Now, do you want to see the swords first or my humble corner of the castle?" he was partly teasing her, just enjoying her reaction to all this. finn kylie nottingham

@will Having a roommate was…strange. Not in the sense that she didn’t know how to handle living with another person, but because she was so used to it just being her and the dog for the last few years. School had obviously been numerous roommates, and while living at home it was her sister and parents. “It’s different. I don’t know how you guys do dorm living at Hogwarts, but Ilvermorny they just toss us all together and call it a day,” Finn shrugged. It hadn’t been terrible, but her roommates could get rather catty at times. No pun intended because they were in the Wampus house. “Sometimes I forget he’s there and start talking to Bruce, that’s my dog, in one of those voices...you know those ones? But yeah, I’m sure I’ll get used to it again eventually.” That and the dog seemed to enjoy Luke’s company too. It seemed like one of them was always there to play tug-of-war or toss a ball across the apartment for the giant dog. Finn constantly felt bad for shoving him into an apartment for most of the day. At least he got more walks these days.
Will’s refusal to answer her question about what the room looked like only made the effect of seeing it even better. He had definitely done this to guests before. His description of the living space being ‘homey’ was hilarious; again, her entire apartment could fit inside of the room. There was the classic style that had been shown throughout the building, but there were modern amenities too. It was odd to see the two conflicting time periods clash in this manner. She continued to stare in awe at everything as he asked what she wanted to see next. “When you say corner, what do you mean exactly?” Damn that was a stupid question. She knew that he meant like an entire branch of the castle. Her brain and mouth weren’t exactly cooperating on that though, and being able to process it in one place didn’t mean she was going to be saying it as well.

She said the roommate thing was different, saying how she didn't know how it was done at Hogwarts. Will nodded, not cutting in until after she spoke about the dog in 'one of those voices'. He chuckled, "I would like to have a dog, but I'm not home often so they'd probably never seen me," he admitted. "My mum usually has some running around, though. As for the dorms at Hogwarts, we were separated by year into rooms," he explained, "so I only shared mine with five other guys my age," he explained. "Do Bruce and the roommate get along? And does this roommate have a name so I can properly reference them?" he chuckled. He was good at remembering names, and it would definitely make conversing about it a lot easier. She surveyed the sitting room in silence for a moment before he asked about what she wanted to see next. She asked about his 'corner' and he laughed, "fair question, Finn. It's a wing... or two," okay, it was two. "Basically the whole South end, both towers down there," he explained, trying to continue sounding casual, even though this was one of the harder to relate to parts of his life. "I honestly don't spend a lot of time over there, and friends and family crash here all the time when visiting," he explained, trying to make it sound a little less like he just walked around his end of the castle surveying all his stuff. finn kylie nottingham@susanvictoria (you can make an appearance now if you want!)

Susan was visiting her grandmother at the castle; she had not been able to see her much when she had last visited as she had been with Sander for most of it. Today though, she had been invited for tea with her mother and though it had been enjoyable, Susan was glad for it to be over. She was wandering around the halls when she was positive she heard her brother talking to someone in a room nearby. Curious, she began walking towards the sound, and as she opened the door she realized there was a second voice in the room. “OH!” Susan was surprised to see a dark haired girl with her brother. She looked to be around the same age as Will, and….well, definitely not the typical type of woman he was usually seen around with. She was quite pretty though, and Susan was pretty sure she had interrupted something rather private. “I’ll...be going,” she said quickly, backing out of the room and rushing down the hall. finn kylie nottingham@will

@will Finn listened as he explained that he would like to have a dog, but it wasn’t exactly feasible currently. That was exactly how she had felt while still in New York. Poor Bruce being locked in the apartment all day made her feel awful. Small spaces and cities weren’t the best for the husky, and while London was just more of that, at least she could have him out and running a lot more now than ever before. If she had been smart about it, she would have left him with her parents while working back home. They had enough space and it wasn’t that long of a drive to go see all of them on the weekends. “So same as us then,” she mused, trying to imagine what a school aged Will looked like. Probably the same – suave and well put together, and maybe a bit more boyish. It was hard to tell though. She had certainly changed since graduation. “I think they get along fine. As long as Bruce gets to play tug-of-war and plenty of scratches he’s fine. And the roommate does have a name. Luke. We were both in Wampus at Ilvermorny. I guess that’s like your houses? Anyway, he just moved here and I had the space, so why not?” Finn had only recently put together that it looked like the two of them were a thing, but she didn’t see what was wrong with living with one of her friends. Kept the rent low and a friend at hand if she ever needed help. “He’ll kill you with kindness too so watch out,” she grinned.
A wing…or two? The scale of the building was still extremely perplexing to her. Obviously it was huge, that much she was aware of. But what did a wing mean? Was it like a long corridor? Or an open room like the one they were in? “Both towers? I once had an apartment in New York that was maybe five-hundred square feet. That was a larger one too.” Finn continued to walk around a bit, running her hand along the various furniture pieces as she did so. It was one of the most impressive buildings she had ever been in, if not the most impressive. The door behind them clicked open and her eyes followed the sound, spotting the girl standing there. The sound that came out of her mouth was clearly surprise at Finn’s presence there, because the girl quickly said she would be going and did just that. “Sister?” she asked Will, turning back to him. “I’m not that scary, am I?”

She said that their dorms were the same and he nodded. He had guessed as much, though he wondered how the other schools did things. There were some difference between Ilvermorny and Hogwarts, he was sure. She said that Bruce and Luke got along fine and Will grinned at the thought of playing with a pup and giving it the well deserved scratches that every dog should enjoy on a regular basis. She mentioned her house at school, Wampus, and his brow furrowed a little as he committed the name to memory. "Well, I'm glad the two of you were able to find one another here. It's always better moving to a new place with people you know around, or so I hear," he hadn't actually experienced moving anywhere. But it was nice to have Susan with him at Hogwarts once she was old enough to join him. "Wait... Luke will or Bruce will? I'll take either," he said with a chuckle. He had a feeling he'd be meeting this roommate sometime... or rather, he hoped he would. He definitely wanted to meet the dog, though. "Maybe you could bring Bruce around for a run on our grounds. He'd have a lot of space to go wild in," he suggested. Finn questioned his 'wings', mentioning the size of her 'larger' apartment in New York. "I hear apartments there are pretty small," he said, trying to act like he knew a little what he was talking about. He stayed put as she walked around the room, touching the furniture. He suddenly felt a little embarrassed by the lavishness of it all. She was so... real and genuine, and his life was so put together and porcelain. She didn't seem to mind that, though, which was always his biggest concern with introducing people into his lifestyle. When the door opened the both turned toward it, and Will raised a hand in a wave to Susan, but then she was backing out. He couldn't help but grin, biting down on his bottom lip to keep from laughing and turning away from the door, shaking his head. Then he looked up at Finn when she spoke, "no, no, you're not scary. I think she's just sick of me bringing girls around here," he joked, well half joked, and let his chuckle escape. "Come on," he took a step toward her, "time to show you the boring part," aka, his part of the castle. finn kylie nottingham

@will Finn nodded her head happily as Will said that he was glad that she and Luke had managed to make the living situation work. It would totally be against her moral codes to leave her friend out in the cold when she had the space (never mind the fact that he had been living in the Leaky Cauldron – that was basically the same thing to her). She felt a little awkward discussing living with Luke around Will now that it was brought up, mostly because she hadn’t thought about the whole situation prior to this. When she had run into her friend a few months back, it seemed natural to ask him to join her in the apartment. Obviously Finn wasn’t regretting that decision in the slightest, she just felt strange talking about it with Will and couldn’t figure out why that was. “It kind of is. I’d say it’s similar to going to school for the first time.” There was always something interesting going on with Luke there as well, fun stories to talk about, specifically the customers he handled at work, and it finally didn’t feel empty in the apartment. Sure, she and the dog had a grand old time doing whatever they wanted, but having someone else there was awesome. “Uhh both maybe? Luke is a southern gentleman like none other. Bruce just likes attention.” Will mentioned bringing the dog around to run on the grounds, and Finn’s eyes widened at the thought of it. “Oh man he would definitely like that!” He had just said that his mother had dogs as well, so it probably wasn’t all that weird to have them running around outside, even against the backdrop of the castle.
She let out an awkward laugh as Will said that he had heard the apartments in New York City were pretty small. That was funny. “Something like that. The living situations there leave a lot to be desired for,” she rolled her eyes jokingly. “But the city is still worth living in. There’s always something going on if you’re looking for it.” Same with crime, but she decided to keep that bit to herself. Ruining their little get together with her stories of chasing down criminals wasn’t what she wanted to do right now. Currently it was Will’s turn for show and tell. She was sure her time would come eventually. “I can see that,” Finn laughed along with his comment on bringing girls around. “That was definitely one of those ‘another one?’ looks.” He offered to show her another part of the castle, dubbed the boring part, and she stepped away from the fancy furniture towards him. “Lead on, Sir William,” she laughed, heading in the direction she assumed they would be going, leaving him behind as she did so.

She said that moving somewhere near was kind of like going to school for the first time, which was a nice way for her to phrase it so he actually knew what she meant and could relate. Most people didn't even try to help him understand things he hadn't been through, they just assumed he'd figure it out or didn't want to explain it to him. She said Luke was a southern gentleman in reference to the 'killing with kindness' issue. Will grinned as she confirmed the dog just liked attention, which was understandable, and she seemed to really like the idea of Bruce coming for a run on the grounds. "Let's plan a time then," he said with a nod, "the ponds and fountains aren't blocked off, though, so if he likes water just get ready for him to probably get wet," he warned. His moms dogs often gave people are hard time by jumping in the nearest source of water they could find. She confirmed the apartments were small. Or rather, 'something like that'. He chuckled as she rolled her eyes, but said the city was worth living in because something was always going on. "Maybe you can show me the cool stuff to do there sometime, I don't know much about it," he admitted. Finn said she could see his guess about Susan being sick of him bringing girls along, mentioning the 'another one?" look Susan gave him. He just chuckled along with her, "yeah. I mean I don't think I'm a manwhore but she has other thoughts about that," he joked, though that was something Susan had called him, not entirely in jest. She told him to lead on but she went ahead and he let her go for a moment, watching her with an eyebrow raised. As much as it looked like these walls didn't suit her, they did. In a way she made the place seem more... human. He liked it better that way. He followed her after a moment, walking beside her and guiding the way casually, not really leading. Once they got down the hall to the appropriate door, he pulled out a key and opened it, stepping in ahead of her. The room was actually quite, quite boring. It wasn't decorated. the furniture was all black or silver, and this was just the sitting room with some couches, a television set and some other boring furniture here and there. finn kylie nottingham

@will Planning a time for her to bring the dog over sounded like a good deal to her. Adding in water features too was going to blow the little furball’s mind. He already had unlimited energy as it was, the water would just fuel his need to keep playing. Finn was lucky that she never got exhausted by the dog, because that would have made them both lazy and fat. Constant walks and playing fetch was what made the dog her best friend. “Let’s be honest here, he’s a husky. He would have ended up in the water whether it was off limits or not,” Finn warned right back at the royal. There were some things she couldn’t bring herself to stop, one of those being her dog when he wanted to swim. Especially in the summer. Keeping him out of ponds and water fountains back home in public parks was so difficult. At least he was allowed to do that here.
Showing Will around the city would be interesting…though she would probably need his help more than anything. There was still a lot left to see and do, mostly because doing it on her own wouldn’t have been all that fun. Most of her friends, the Americans that had come over like she had, were busy with work during the day, so wandering around with the dog during her infinite free time was more common than not. That posed the other problem though: places that didn’t allow dogs. “Maybe I can,” she started. “As long as you aren’t a manwhore the entire time we’re out.” Finn grinned at him, trying not to laugh. She could only imagine what her own sister had thought about her when they were both in school for the one year together. Probably thought her drooling over boys was obnoxious. She would understand one day.
But those dates could be figured out later. Will had pushed the door to his room, or quarters (Or was it entire wing? She couldn’t remember at this point), and she stepped up next to him. There was a lot to take in – all the furniture matched and it was more modern than the elegant pieces that she had seen moments ago in the family room. Still, it was fancy. The furniture in her apartment was all mismatched from what she was able to ‘transport’ over and what she had to buy once she arrived in London. “This is one hell of a bachelor pad,” she said as she made her way right over to the couch and sat down on it, sinking into the cushions instantaneously. “How do you not stay in here all day? This is amazing…” Finn added, her entire body falling back even further into the couch. She started laughing as she realized the predicament she found herself in. “And now I’m stuck.”

She said that her dog was a husky, so the water thing was inevitable. He laughed, nodding to show he understood. Now they'd definitely have to make that happen. As for New York, she agreed that she could maybe show him around, grinning at him as she said he couldn't be a manwhore the whole time they were out. He grinned back, for a moment trying not to laugh as well, but then he just let a laugh out. She shook his head, then looked back at her once the laugh had died down. "I promise I will not be a manwhore," he said, offering a firm nod, "if you promise to give me attention, since I clearly need it," he joked. They were in his main sitting room, which was only a small part of what was technically his, but it was the room he used the most. She commented on the 'bachelor pad' of it all, and he grinned as she found her way to the couch and melted into it. He chuckled, crossing over to follow her to the couch. "I have work to do, so generally I just don't sit on the ouch, for fear it will get me like it did you," he pointed out. He sat down on the couch too, but left a respectable bit of space between them. He let out a dramatic sigh, clearly just making a scene, "and now we will die here, side by side, and no one will know what happened to the great Finn Nottingham and Sir Lord William Peter Winsdor," he lifted a hand upward toward the sky, as if a dying man in a Shakespeare play saying his last words. finn kylie nottingham

@will Giving Will attention wasn’t difficult at all. He was easy to get along with and they seemed to be on the same wavelength most of the time. The way they were talking about his attention made him sound like a dog though, which was funny. She didn’t think they were at the point yet where patting him on the head and calling him a ‘good boy’ was the proper thing to do. That action would have been easy to do with Luke, only because she had known him for ages. “Hmmm,” she contemplated for a few seconds. “That can’t be too difficult to do. I’m not going to become just another one of those girls, am I? Actually, I’m fine not knowing that,” Finn teased, not letting him get an answer in between her statements.
Sinking further into the couch, which she didn’t even know was possible from where she had already been, she turned her head to face Will as he crashed on the cushion next to her, stating that he had work to do so getting stuck like she currently was, was non-negotiable. “You make my unemployed heart hurt,” she feigned, placing her hand over her chest before laughing. His dramatic sigh as he sat down kept her laugh going, and she was sure he realized he was going to be as stuck as she was. “It’s not that bad of a death, Sir Lord William Peter Windsor,” Finn repeated his crazy long name back to him. “I’d prefer death by couch than the alternative I would have had back in New York.” Oops. That was a little too serious. It wasn’t necessarily untrue, since an auror either died in the field or of overworking. She hadn’t liked either of those options. “But actually, how do we escape this? I was counting on you to save me, and then you dove right in too…”
