While the thought of being in Europe was now exciting to Jacob the trip to it had been a nightmare. Nothing went right and it wasn't helped by his sisters attitude and their mothers panicking that she had forgotten something. Anything they forgot their father could have sent over or their grandmother might bring on one of her visits. Still that didn't keep their mother from panicking any less. Their mother also refused to travel by portkey at first but given the alternatives for getting her family and things to Europe she gave in. Jacob's father had already arranged housing for his family before they arrived.
They arrived to an apartment building in London, the outside wasn't much to look at but the neighborhood seemed alright. Still it didn't do much to reassure their mother. Their apartment was on the second floor but it didn't seem like the inside would be big enough for four people. Luckily their father already saw fit that it was far bigger on the inside. The extra size didn't help anyone's mood though. The first day was just getting things in the apartment and getting settled, the second day was spent unpacking. Jacob's sister just kept complaining and being annoyed about the situation and their mother tried to find every last thing she packed. Anything not found in the first few minutes of looking was lost forever to her, even if she found it moments later.
Jacob was getting a headache from just being here around his family. His sister complaining and his mothers constant panicking were too much for even him to block out. The only two who were handling this well was his little brother and Jacob himself. He needed out of here, there was a whole new land outside and even if his family wasn't looking forward to it Jacob was. It took some convincing from Jacob but finally his mother let him go and find Diagon alley. It was nearby from what his father said, they even had a crudely drawn map from him on how to get there. "Just please, be careful," his mother asked in a begging tone while she sifted through boxes. "Mom, we're from New York, I'll be just fine." Jacob laughed as he attempted to reassure her as he quickly exited the apartment before she forced him to stay. He hadn't even gotten to the first floor before he heard their apartment door open once more as he waited, expecting his mother to call him back in. "What?" Jacob asked waiting to see why the door opened once more.

London. London. It was no New York, but it was still a pretty amazing city so far. She hadn't seen much of the wizarding side, though, and she was ready to do that. She was unpacked. Katherine hated unpacking. And packing. She liked things to just stay where they were but... she understood the need. Still, it didn't help that her boxes were all mixed in with everyone else's and she had to keep dealing with them in order to get her stuff. Her little brother, the youngest, had taken two of her boxes into his room on accident. I mean, come on. Finally, she was in a position where her room was organized enough that she could get the hell out of there. Sadly, her twin had the same idea. He made a break for the door and she followed, opening it a second or two after he had left. "What?" he called back. "Shut up, Jake, do you want the whole hallway to hear you hollaring? F**kin' hell," she rolled her eyes and bounded after him. "I'm coming with you to this Diagon place," she said as she walked right by him, shoulder checking him. @jacob

It was the worst possible response that Jacob could have got back from his question. It wasn't his mother actually calling him back, no it was his sister following him out of the apartment. He would say her bad mood from the move was still with her but as she started to argue with him he knew this was normal. They never got along and that's just how it was, hell would freeze over before they actually agreed on something. "Yes because the best way of making sure they don't hear me is to argue and curse. Just lovely." Jacob said in a sarcastic tone as she followed him down the stairs now. He was looking to get away from all this noise and now it was following him. As Katie walked passed him she made sure to bump into him saying she was coming with him to find Diagon Alley. Even if his Legilimency worked on her anymore he wouldn't have needed it to figure that out. "Great.."
Still they were out of the apartment and it was better than having both his sister and mother going at the same time. Just having one of them to deal with at the moment was a positive he supposed even if he would have picked his mother over sister. Jacob did love her, she was family he had too. He just didn't like her ninety percent of the time and that was being generous. "Dad's map says we walk down the street till we hit the main road and make a left. Should be a straight walk after that." Jacob explained looking over his father's hand drawn map, really the man could not draw for the life of him but it still got to the point. Jacob started to walk in the direction they needed to go but made sure to look back for his sister. As much as the idea of her getting lost jokingly appealed to him he wouldn't do that to their poor mother. "Come on."

He pointed out her curse, sarcastically calling her out on being a worse voice in the hallway than he was, but she just ignored that as she walked by. She heard his smug little 'great', too, and of course he wasn't excited to have her with him, but he didn't really have a choice now so he would just have to get the hell over it. They stepped outside and Jake started talking about a map their father had given him, no surprise there. She leaned toward him to look at the map in his hands, cocking her head to the side. "Hell, was he doing this with the wrong hand?" she muttered, shaking her head in disbelief. How hard was it to draw a map? He started walking and he looked back at her, telling her to 'come on'. She made a face and sped up to walk beside him, but a step or two ahead. She always did that. She liked being in front, even if he was leading. "Do we really need a map to 'turn left at the main road and then walk straight'? Seems like he could have just said it out loud and been done there," she rolled her eyes. "Hopefully the English terrorists don't blow the shopping alley up while we're there. Bound to happen since the rest of this country is being blown to pieces."@jacob

It wasn't often that Jacob agreed with his sister. In fact it was rare if at all it happened, he could only imagine she disagreed with him at times just to start a fight. Yet he laughed a little at her comment about their father's drawing. "I know, he would have been better just finding an actual map and just putting some lines on that." Jacob smiled slightly, he didn't have to make this worse than it needed to be, that could be Katie's job if she wanted to. Still he felt better out of the house away from their mothers panicked unpacking. He'd have to bring their little brother with him sometime but he was content at the apartment for now.
His sister followed him and quickly took the lead, as always he pretended not to notice but she was always a head of him when they went somewhere. It was hard not to notice after it happening so often. It was just something she did, either she just wanted to just be ahead of him all the time or just wanted to be first Jacob wasn't sure. "Well there's also something on the bottom about a pub and how to enter the Alley. Something about a hidden entrance." Jacob attempted to explain, the map wasn't completely useless but his sister had a point. Their father could have just told them all this before hand.
Katie brought up the terrorists and he just shock his head slightly. He didn't want to think of that right now but it had been on his mind since he found out about the transfer to Europe. "It's not like Illvermorny is doing much better right now, everything's going crazy." Jacob was agreeing with his sister a lot today and while anyone wouldn't find that being a problem he wasn't liking it. "Is that why you came with me? Were you worried about your brother? Aww." Jacob teased her slightly even if he knew that wasn't anywhere near true he assumed.

Jacob said their father could have used a real map and she nodded, rolling her eyes, but smiling too. "We should hang one up for the summer so we can just check it on our way out. If I look at a map once I can find the way easily," she reminded him. She was good at that kind of stuff. Calculations and directions and math. Finding an address wouldn't be hard if she saw the map first. He said that there was something about a pub and she rolled her eyes, "hidden entrances. No shit Sherlock, this is magic," she wasn't talking very quietly, even though they were still in muggle London. "Next time I'll just have him give me the instructions," she said flatly, waving her hand back at him. And, of course, Jake was making some stupid comment about her being worried about him. She couldn't help but smile a little, slowing so she could attempt to elbow him hard in the ribs, "no. I'm coming because if you die someone has to pick up the bloody pieces."@jacob

Jacob could have argued but Katie was right after all here. She was normally good with maps and directions. “I’m sure we can find an actually map on the way there or back home.” Jacob explained as they kept on walking, her still slightly a head of him. “I don’t need you getting lost and being sent out to go find you.” Jacob joked and knew it would probably annoy her but almost anything he ever did annoyed her and he was used to it at this point. There was just no point in trying to fight it or avoid it.
Katie went off about how of course it would be hidden but he hadn’t brought it up because he didn’t expect the entrance to be hidden. He had brought it up just because that was the way in after all. “Really? Oh I thought they would have a big glowing sign over the alley. ‘Come get your magic stuff.’ I was just saying that’s how we get in. The entrance is out the back exit of the pub.” Jacob explained how they would get in and explain what he meant about the pub as well as if it would have mattered to Katie anyway. Jacob laughed a little at his joke and Katie saw fit that now was the time to elbow him in the ribs. He wasn’t expecting it even if he should have been and it hurt a bit but he was also used to that and wasn’t about to let it show that it hurt. No instead he doubled down on the joke. “Aww, that’s so sweet of you. Lord knows I’d fall to piece without you around anyway.”

He said that they could find an actual map while they were out and she didn't even respond to that. No Duh, is all she would have said. He had a way of obnoxiously stating the obvious, and it annoyed her to no end. He commented about her getting lost, clearly joking, but she simple lifted a hand to flip him of abruptly, "yeah right," she said, once her finger was lowered, "it'll be the opposite. Or, you know, the brat," the oh-so-affectionate nickname she had for their younger singling. He sarcastically spoke about a glowing sign over the alley and she groaned, annoyed, but also laughed a little at the end of the grown. "A pub. Excellent, I need a drink," she said sharply, not sure if they would actually serve her one... plus, she didn't actually like drinking that much. Mathmeticians needed their brains to function fully. Alcohol didn't help with that. He said it was sweet of her to pick up the bloody pieces of him, saying he'd fall without her around, anyway. She rolled her eyes and lifted a hand to punch him in the arm, turning at their dads directions. They were getting close, she guessed. "You need me, Jakey. Wonder what stupid Hogwarts house they'll put us into," she shifted. @jacob

Jacob just laughed quietly as Katie flipped him off. He figured that would be the response he got to accusing her of getting lost at some point. No, he doubted she would get lost but he wasn’t going to not say it, he was her brother after all. He was entitled to annoying her just as much as she annoyed him. “Please, you think she’s going to let him go out of the apartment without one of us?” And by us he assumed it would be himself. Jacob didn’t mind but he always did seem to get stuck on little brother duty. “So it looks like we’d get both get lost at the same time if it happened. You’ll come save us sister, please?” Yes, Jacob was being overly sarcastic but he didn’t care at the moment.
Katie commented about needing a drink after he explained that the entrance to the alley was inside a pub. All he could do was laugh for a moment, she could do that now if she wanted as the age laws restrictions were lower here. Something that surprised him when her learned that. “Hey fine with me, as long as I don’t have to carry you home drunk. I really don’t feel like explaining that to Mom.” Granted he would if he had to but he’d much rather stop her before she reached that level of intoxication. Jacob also highly doubted she would get drunk, they might not have gotten along but he knew her better than that.
That was an interesting question that Katie brought up. Hogwarts has four houses as well and they would have to be sorted into them just like they had back in Ilvermorny. It would be interesting to see how it happened here and if they would be in the same house again or not. On one hand they could get sorted into different houses and he wasn’t really sure how he would react. They had spent six years in the same house, granted most of the time was spent fighting. On the other they could go back to being in the same house and nothing would change. “Yeah they have four houses just like back home, only this time they’re named after the people who built the school.” It was as much as Jacob knew about the houses. Nevertheless it would be interesting to see what happened. “Wonder how many of the annoying couples will be split into different houses.”

Katherine nodded absently as Jake suggested that their mom wouldn't let baby bro out of the apartment on his own. That was a fair point. "Yes, I'll save the both of you," she said with an exasperated tone to her voice. Even though it was all a joke, she really would if she had to. She obviously appreciated her brothers, even if she wasn't the most family oriented being on the planet. He said her getting a drink was fine with him as long as he didn't have to carry her home and explain it to their mom. Katherine rolled her eyes at him, "I don't get drunk, Jake. I'm not tacky," she said firmly. And like hell she'd ever let him carry her home. The mere thought was laughable. He talked about the houses and she nodded, considering the names and their origins for a moment. Then he mentioned 'annoying couples' being separated and she laughed, raising an eyebrow at him. "My sweet Jakey, did you actually just say something mean about another human being? I'm impressed. Maybe you aren't all sugar after all."@jacob

Jacob could only laugh as Katherine said she would save their brother and him even if she didn’t sound like she wanted to. Jacob knew she would just as much as he would for her, they were family even if neither showed it as much as the perfect family would have. “Aw, I always knew you were the bestest sister in the world.” Jacob teased for a moment while they walked.
He just nodded as she explained how she would never get drunk as she wasn’t that tacky. He was sure of that as well or at least as sure as one could be. “Hey, I was just making you aware of what would happen. She’d probably go crazy on both of us if you did.” He would say he was joking but could allow assume it would be true. He would be accused of not watching after her. They were pretty much adults now, by law here they were actually adults. Katherine could do what she wanted and he could go but still this was their mother.
“Well if you knew anything about cooking you’d know that even the sweetest dishes call for salt sometimes.” Jacob teased knowing Katherine didn’t like sweets one bit. Still she had a point he never was one to be mean to anyone but he could always laugh about a situation. It also helped that there were plenty of super annoying couples that bugged him. It wasn’t his fault they might get separated but he could still watch on to see what happened. “You know we might even be in different houses.” Jacob explained unsure how he felt about that still.

He laughed and the sound grated on her like teeth on bone, like it always did. He was always just so sweet and dorky and ick, the worst. Still, she couldn't help but laugh a little herself as he said she was the best sister in the world, even if it was just for the joke. Then he said he was just making her aware of what would happen if she got drunk, mentining that mum would go crazy on both of them if she did in fact do that. "She's gone crazy on smaller things," Katherine agreed with a little shake of her head. She loved her mother, of course, but she was also fine with her mother giving her some some space. Especially for her last year of school. That was one good thing about England, at least. Space. He said that even the sweetest dishes called for salt sometimes and she pretending to gag, shaking her head and then turning to glare at him. "Sugar and salt. Disgusting. I prefer salt and steak," she said harshly. Then he said that they may be in different houses and her gaze softened a little as she tried to assess what he meant by that. Well, how he felt about that. "I guess.. that's true. Might be nice," she said slowly. @jacob

Jacob laughed a little and nodded as Katherine spoke about how their mother had been going crazy on little things. It was true and no matter how much he loved his mother he disliked how she was acting about this whole move. Granted he himself wasn’t one hundred percent sure how England and Hogwarts was going to work out for them. Yet panicking wasn’t going to do anyone any good. At least not right now. “Hopefully she’ll calm down once we’re all settled. Between what happened to Ilvermorny and now ending up in England, it’s a lot to get used to.” Jacob attempted to defend their mother for a moment. Sure she was acting crazy but it wasn’t totally her fault nor for no reason.
“Why am I not surprise.” Jacob replied with a small smirk, Katherine and Jacob were opposites in many ways and their taste in food was just another one of them. Still he was used to that at this point in their lives. As they topic changed to them possibly being in different houses she explained how it might be nice. He wasn't hurt or surprised but he wasn’t sure he felt like he agreed. Sure they never got along but Jacob just wasn’t sure he was ready to not be in the same house as his sister. “Possibly but you’ll know you’ll miss me as much as I’ll miss you.” Jacob said jokingly with a small smile but still being honest at least on his end. “Either way we’ll both still be seventh years so we’ll have most of the same classes together I can only assume.”

Katherine was sure her mom would eventually calm down, but it would definitely take some time, especially with their younger sibling involved in all of it. "It is," she nodded, and decided not to go any further on the subject of their mothers sanity. Kat wasn't sure if she could ever be a mother, really. She just didn't worry enough about little things to keep small people alive. It seemed so... dull. Jacob said he'd miss her if they were in different houses and she looked at him with a wrinkled nose, "sure, sure. I'll miss you tons," she said, voice dripping with sarcasm. Then he mentioned that they'd still have some classes together and she nodded, "yes, I suppose that's true. Now, come on. You walk so f*cking slow," she picked up the pace, so they could get just to their destination already and spend the afternoon exploring in silence, hopefully. @jacob (the end XD)
