(Late June)
"I'm not nervous, you're nervous." Shawn said as he walked back and forth in the living room of his best friends house. "That doesn't even make sense Shawn. I'm not the one with a date and you're pacing back and forth. That's what you do." Was the response Shawn got back and it wasn't helping right now. He came here for ideas and all he was getting was laughed at. "Shut up and help me think." Shawn had expecting coming here would give him some ideas on what to do but it only caused him to get laughed at. He was used to laughter and most times didn't even mind it coming at his expense but it wasn't what he needed right now. "Okay, okay. Tell me what've got and I'll just tell you it's a bad idea like always." His friend replied with another laugh and Shawn just sighed a little.
In the end his friend was zero help and Shawn was certain that was on purpose. No, he was on his own here and while Shawn normally wasn't nervous about stuff like dates this was Callisto. He doubted just going to some cheesy muggle movie would cut it as a good first date. He hadn't dated someone he would have considered his opposite before but he still wanted to be around Callisto more despite that or maybe because of it possibly. He didn't know for sure he just knew he had fun being around her. Still with her being his opposite in mind Shawn did get an idea. Just pick something he normally wouldn't do for fun, something moderately fancy.
Shawn owled Callisto with the date and time to meet up, chances are she would know what the address was if not she'd probably be surprised it was an art museum. If anything she'd probably expect him to pick a pub but he was trying here. Shawn got there early and waited somewhere in the open, he doubted she would be late or stand him up but he had been surprised she said yes to begin with after all.

"I'm not nervous, I'm just prepared. Getting prepared. Preparing myself," Callisto was pacing, and Mina was smug. Mina had met Shawn in... unfortunate circumstances. After a night 'learning to have fun' with Rory, Emmy and Shawn, Callisto had gotten just drunk enough that Shawn had to accompany her home, and voila, he met Mina. Now Cal was going on an actual date with him (after two accidental ones, maybe three, long story) and Mina was watching her get ready. "When's the wedding?" Mina drawled, lounging on the couch, snuggled up with her dog as Callisto finally stopped in front of the door. She took a deep breath in through her nose and closed her eyes for a moment She had promised herself she'd give this stupid feelings thing a chance. She had ran from Brandon, not told Claire her feelings and now... well, Shawn was brave enough to ask her on a date and she had said yes, which was a miracle in and of itself. She gave Mina one last look. She meant to be stern, but there was pure panic and maybe something a little pleading in her eyes. "I'll be back... sometime. Maybe late. Not sure," maybe late!? She left, trying to leave her nerves behind her. And failing. She didn't know the place but it was easy to find, and there he was waiting for her. She took another one of those deep breaths and closed the gap between them. "Shawn. Hi. Hi, Shawn," oh dear. Oh. Dear. shawn lesley ashcroft(got permission and minas dialogue from colin)

For someone whose only goal right now was to pay attention and wait for someone Shawn was failing at it. He wasn't one to stand or sit patiently, no instead he was pacing again as he second guessed this idea. Shawn had no idea if Callisto even liked muggle art stuff. Hell he hardly knew much about her really but he wanted to know more. He realized he was pacing again and stopped himself, this was crazy. He just should just treat this like any other run in with Callisto and it'll be fine right? The other times all worked out and they weren't even planned actual dates. Something about it being a real one was making this all different. Shawn mildly got himself together just as he heard his name and he looked over to find Callisto. She was on time, probably, he lost track of time in his pacing and second guessing.
"Hey there Callisto," Shawn got out lost for words for a moment. He knew she was going to show up yet it somehow caught him off guard. "At this point it's weird actually running into you on purpose." Shawn finally got out with a laugh as he joked about the past three run-ins. Nope even after she showed up it didn't help but he had someone to talk to now, it had to be better than just being with his own thoughts. "So we'd already been to a pub, night club and restaurant I figured somewhere different and I was running out of options." Shawn paused to laugh, now that this was an official date bringing up the past three places was a little awkward to him for some reason.
"It was either an art museum or crash some party at this point. I figured the museum would be more fitting." While Shawn was only joking he couldn't actually think of anything else while he tried to plan this. His only hope was she would actually like this if not he didn't have many other back up plans.

He said hello, after a moment of looking a little... stunned? Was he surprised he was on time? Callisto was always on time. Always. He said it was weird running into her on purpose and she tried to smile, because she liked that, but she was too nervous to do so. Her lip just twitched slightly. He mentioned all the places they have been together, suggesting that they go somewhere different. She looked around a little, taking a step closer to him as she did so and nodding. It was good to hear him laughing, at least she knew he wasn't going to bolt out that door. Yet. He spoke about how a museum was more fitting than crashing a party, and she realized she hadn't spoke yet. She looked back at him and nodded, again. "I like museums. Not very familiar with art, but I respect the craft," she explained, sure that this was an incredibly lame answer to all that he had just said. "I like it," she added again. "I'll follow your lead, Shawn," she finally, finally managed that smile she was trying to find. shawn lesley ashcroft

Callisto finally spoke again and Shawn felt a little relieved but not completely. So he was on the right track with museums even if it didn't seem art was exactly her thing. That was fine she seemed interested at least, it also helped that he didn't know the first thing about art besides what he thought looked nice or not. Still she said she liked it and that was all the mattered. "Hey, just means I made the right choice." That took a load off his mind, he would to rack his brain for a quick back up plan.
Shawn couldn't help but laugh a little as she smiled saying she would follow his lead. "Most wouldn't recommend that but I promise to be on my best behavior so it should be fine." Another joke and he was feeling better and better about this as they spoke. Sure he was still nervous but at least he wasn't second and triple guessing where they were. "Just don't follow my lead too much or we'll both be tilting our heads wondering if they hung some the painting the right way or not." Shawn smiled before leading the way toward the entrance.

He said that he made the right choice and she nodded, wanting to confirm that for him. He laughed a little, saying that he wouldn't recommend following his lead. Her smile grew and she chuckled a little, too. He mentioned tilting heads at some painting and she shrugged, "that'll probably happen either way. I'm willing to take the risk," she said, surprising herself. She followed him, trying to stay beside him as they went through the doors and into the museum. Once they had their tickets, she turned toward the sign that said what was on each floor. She stepped up to it, reviewing the floors... "should we start from the bottom and go up or go all the way up and work our way down?" she asked, turning to raise an eyebrow at Shawn. Normally she took charge in situations but she had said she would follow his lead... whatever his lead would be. shawn lesley ashcroft

Shawn continued to smile as Callisto agreed with their heads probably tilting on a few paintings. "I wasn't aware I had asked out such a risk taker and here I thought I was the cool one." Shawn mildly teased her for a second as he proceeded to lead the way into the museum. As they got their tickets and were inside Callisto made her way toward a sign which looked like a directory of some sort. Shawn followed her just as she turned to ask where they should start. He figured his normal just going from whatever looked interesting without a plan wouldn't work here. "I'd say start from the top and work our way down. It gets us back to this floor once we're done." Shawn picked from her plans as it made the most sense to him. They couldn't just apperate out from the top floor without a muggle seeing and they'd have to walk back to the exit anyway. Might as well end up there after they were done anyway.
Shawn made his way to the stairs, the building wasn't that tall anyway, just three floors. After Hogwarts that was nothing. "Besides it makes it easier for you to make a break for the exit if you end up changing your mind about this." Shawn laughed as he began to wish he hadn't said that. It was only a joke or was meant as a joke but he'd rather not have that happen more than anything else right now. Now he wished to kick himself as he thought about what he had just said some more as they went up the stairs with him leading the way. "Good going idiot." He thought to himself while they walked.

Shawn said he thought he was the cool one. No surprise there, he definitely was. He was the one who had officially asked her on this date and planned it. He was the one who was friends with Rory already and cool enough to go to a club withoiy being forced. He was the one that saved her from an awkward trio dinner with her frenemy Eleanor and Cyrus. He was always so smooth, so sure, so... Shawn. Definitely the cool one. He said they should start from the top and she agreed, following him toward the stairs. At this next comment (joke, maybe?) She paused. She wasn't really the kind of person who needed physical contact to feel anything, but she knew most people preferred it. Words were always good enough for her, and time spent together, but she knew other people like then reassurance of physical contact, so she gave it now. She reached forward to take his hand and gave it a squeeze. "Hey, I'm not going to change my mind, Shawn." Six months ago she wouldn't have even agreed to something like this, but one night with Brandon changed her. She was terrified, but willing to try. With Shawn. Starting now... Or rather, from that moment they reconnected in Hogsmead. "Have a little faith in me?" she added, still holding onto his hand. shawn lesley ashcroft

Shawn spent the climb up to the second floor regretting his joke. He didn't need the thought that she might change her mind in his head or hers. If she didn't want to be here that was fine of course but he didn't need to be the one to plant that seed in her head. She probably had enough reason with just how different that were but he enjoyed how opposite they were. He almost didn't feel Callisto grabbing his hand till she gave it a slight squeeze. Shawn stopped climbing the steps as he turned back toward her while she spoke. Now he regretted his joke even more, he hadn't meant to make her think he was expecting her to run away. He was just making a bad joke, still he was just smiling. He felt bad for making her think that but he was happier to hear her say she wasn't going to change her mind.
Shawn wanted to say something but couldn't really think of anything that sounded right to him in this moment. Callisto spoke again asking him to have a little faith and he continued to smile. "A little, Callisto you can have it all." He replied finally finding the words to speak once more. It wasn't often he wasn't able to say something but they tended to happen in the more serious moments in his life. "Well let's keep going, there's other beautiful art to see besides just staring at you all day." Shawn's smile turned to a slight smirk as he continued to lead the way again. If Callisto wanted to let go of his hand that'd be fine but he wasn't going to be the one to break the connect he was enjoying.

Shawn said that she could have all of his faith, and she smiled. "All of it? I don't know if I'd go that far. Seems dangerous," that last word came out softer than she originally had intended it too. Wasn't all of this dangerous? Romance and all that? Yes, yes it was. She knew that well. It felt a little less so with Shawn Ashcroft, though. A little. Then he mentioned that there was more beautiful art than just staring at her and she felt her cheeks grow warm. She rolled her eyes, "is that what you say to all the girls?" she asked, keeping hold of his hand as they continued to climb the stairs. It was nice to hold hands, to kind of be together like that. She understood why people were into it. They reached the top level pretty quickly. "Alright. Looks like we've made it to our starting point. She surveyed the room, trying to decide where best to start. shawn lesley ashcroft

Shawn laughed as Callisto commented about giving her all his faith but he wasn't worried. At least not any longer for the moment. "Dangerous? Well it's a good thing I know the best healer at St.Mungos." Shawn replied with a small smirk. He only knew two people who worked at the hospital though. "Just don't tell Rory I said that, I think it'd hurt his feelings." Shawn laughed as he joked about his friend slightly, he was sure Rory wouldn't have cared less how Shawn ranked healers. If anything Rory would probably expect Callisto to be higher to Shawn just because of who she was.
She asked if he said that to all the girls as they continued to climb the stairs. She hadn't broken holding his hand and he wouldn't complain one bit. "Only the ones names Callisto that I take to art museums. So you can imagine how many times that is." Shawn replied, it would be hard to use a line about art anywhere else and he was rarely around art anyway. At least around this much art at one time and place. "Two? Three tops?" Shawn added obviously kidding and making sure anyone could tell by laughing also.
Making it to the top floor Callisto pointed it out while they both seemed to look for where to start. It wasn't like anything around them really helped. There were names but no helpful signs on where to begin. What Shawn did see was on group probably part of a tour leaving one room and going to another, figuring it would have less people in the way it seemed like the best place to start. "We'll start over there." With that he lead the way to a room where most of the walls were covered in classical style art, "Yes. In my professional opinion this is art alright, we found it." He said with a laugh trying to make a joke.

He said he knew the best healer at Saint Mungos, but to not mention to Rory that he said that. "Oh, were you talking about me?" she said, feigning surprise, but smirking as well. She knew that's what he meant, of course. He hadn't actually seen her do any healing though, so logically his statement didn't make any sense. But she knew he was just joking around. He said that he only did this with girls named Callisto and said 'two or three tops'. She glared, tightening her hold on his hand, "ha. Ha," she said flatly. It was funny, though. He was funny. And charming. She liked him. Woooah, she was getting wrapped up in her head. She cleared her throat, "can I be the last one?" she asked, teasing back, but her voice was all soft again. Why did it keep doing that? They made it to the top and Shawn led the way, she still didn't release his hand. They found a wall of paintings and she cocked her head to the side. "Yes, it is quite... decent. Not sure wine is ever that color though," she said, pointing at one in particular. shawn lesley ashcroft

Shawn made a slight smirk as Callisto asked if he was talking about her being the best healer. He could tell she was just acting but Shawn was willing to play along. "Well I was but if you don't want to accept the title I'm sure I can just scratch off your name and put someone else's the on trophy I made." Shawn replied with a laugh while they walked. Sure he had no actual proof that she was the best healer but he didn't need it either. He was willing to believe it just based on who she was and how he felt about it. "I don't know how Rory is going to feel about the sash and tiara though."
Callisto gave a slight laugh and it was obvious she was just playing along with the joke. Even if the the tightening of her hand at first almost made him wonder if she was going to take him seriously. With how flat and almost sarcastic her laugh sounded how couldn't she be joking. It was followed by a question he hadn't been expecting. It sounded like she was just making a joke a first to him. "Well you'd have be," Shawn stopped walking so he could turn back to her for a moment. "I do like to save the best for last after all." Shawn just smiled, while it all probably did sound like a joke he was being serious here. Sadly it was always hard for people who knew him to tell at times but that was just how it was.
Once in the room Callisto pointed out one painting commenting about the color of the wine and all he could do was laugh a little before speaking. "Yes, you have a point. Luckily it's just a painting so I won't have to carry you back home later." Shawn said still laughing to himself slightly as he looked over to her. Sure, it might have been an embarrassing night for her in the end but he only had good memories from it.

She shook her head at the thought of Rory in a sash and tiara. "I fully expect to receive those now. My birthday is next month," her eyes widened for a moment but then she tried to act casual. Of course she would give away her birthday to one of the main people who would take advantage of it. She could see it now. Some awful surprise party with streamers and loud music. But he knew her well enough to know that she wouldn't want to be surrounded by a lot of stuff on her birthday, right? Unless he could actually make it fun... which he probably could. He stopped walking and turned to look back at her, saying that she would be the last one, since he saved the best for last. She closed her mouth, trying to remember how to breathe as she nodded. She didn't say anything at first. She knew that he was being serious about saving the best for last, which could easily meant that he wasn't thinking of taking any girls out after her. Which made her heart beat loudly in her ears. At her comment about the paintings wine, he said that it was just a painting and that he wouldn't have to carry her home, reminding her of that night. She groaned and squeezed his hand, taking a step toward him to pout, just a little, "do you have to remind me about that?"shawn lesley ashcroft

Callisto explained how she expected to get those things now. While he was just kidding it wouldn't be too hard to make those. His mind was a little more focused on getting a sash and tiara followed by the imagine of Callisto in them. It hit him finally that she had told him her birthday was next month. Ideas just popped into his head on what to do and he could only assume she was regretting telling him that now. It also came to him that his birthday was next month as well. "That's fine but if I get you those what will I wear on my birthday which is next month as well." Shawn teased her slightly while laughing a little at the funny coincidence that both their birthdays would be in the same month.
She wasn't saying anything while they stood there on the stairs after what he had said. Shawn wasn't sure if that was good or bad thing at this moment. He could only assume it was a good sign but Shawn was never a good judge on what being silence meant sometimes, if she was believing him or not. "This is the part where you have a little faith in me now." Shawn said, repeating her words from before just to break the silence. He started to walk again still holding her hand, glad she hadn't broken the contact yet.
While he brought up the time he carried her home he just smiled. Callisto on the other hand got a little closer asking if he had to remind her of that, almost pouting about it. Which he couldn't lie was cute enough that he might not have brought it up if she was doing that. "I can't help that I like to relive good memories."
