It was her birthday, and Cara was in need of her Dominic. She hadn’t seen her personal sounding board since she had graduated, and while her siblings could take the brunt of it, Dominic could take it all without batting an eye. Sometimes she wondered if he even cared in the first place, but then he always responded with exactly what she wanted to hear. Basically he did the job that she wanted him too, and that was why she kept him around. At least that was what she had always convinced herself of. In reality, while she treated him like her toy, she knew he was still a person and that he either felt obligated to answer in the manner she wanted him to, or was actually just the kind of person that liked to boost her ego. She knew there was a difference in those two things and was starting to hope that it was neither. The realization at the end of the year, and then following graduation, that she only had a few friends was tormenting her. She couldn’t always rely on Dominic and Adonia to tell her what she wanted them to, and Susan and Diana were busy with work. Obviously it was partially her fault for isolating herself and going out of her way to be an absolute bitch to people at times, but there should have been more people than her siblings and those three, right?
So that was why she got ahold of Dominic and was physically dragging him to the movies. They hadn’t done this kind of thing in a long time, probably because he had been a loser and disappeared at the end of the fall term and wouldn’t respond over winter break. Now she had unlimited time because her career was going absolutely nowhere, and she was sure he could entertain her with his presence for a few hours, especially on her birthday. This would be better than dealing with family the entire day. Diana could do that. That was kind of the good thing with having a twin. She didn’t always need to be there for everything when her clone could stand in for her and vice-versa. They would discuss everything later on anyways. Family politics aside, Cara was stood out in front of the movie theater craning her neck to look over the small crowd that was around her to see where Dominic was.
