Anna shrugged when Grey asked if it was a little too late for her father to argue with her about her life decisions. “It probably should be, but my father has never really cared about doing things the conventional way. He wants to have control … basically of everything.” Which easily explained why the two of them never got along. Anna was headstrong and adventurous enough that she went off on her own when her father would much rather she listen to “reason”. She nodded, “I hope he’ll get used to the idea of me making my own decisions, but I’m not holding my breath for it.” Anna knew her father had always been the way he was now. It was unlikely he was going to change any time soon. She just wasn’t going to let his opinion change the way she lived her life. She was old enough to make her own decisions.
Grey said he hadn’t told his parents yet and Anna wasn’t really surprised. It would probably be another strain on their relationship, at least, once his parents realized he didn’t want to be an Auror like they wanted him to be. “That makes sense. I don’t think those things need to be rushed either. Take your time and work things out between yourselves before you start bringing your parents into it.” She laughed softly and shook her head “Then again, the only experience I have with this is introducing my parents to Oscar, since his parents passed away away a while ago. So I guess I’m probably not the best to give advice about it.” Especially considering her difficult relationship with her own parents. She looked down at her watch, surprised when Grey asked if they should head back for their lesson. “Yes! I can’t believe it’s already time for that!” Anna jumped to her feet, waiting for Grey to join her. “Thanks again for the chat. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one looking for a change,” she told him with a smile. Then she took a big breath. Time for another lesson.
