Kinsey listened as he said that he knew someone in Germany. Darn, that wouldn't work. He continued, saying that she should look for someone here that can help. "My parents don't really want me telling people about it," she told him after a second. She wasn't sure how comfortable she'd be telling Madame Parvati about her ability right out. Then again, having someone to talk to that wasn't Riley would probably be a good thing. She nodded when he said that there might not be someone that had her abilities, but there were people that could help. "I've never thought of that before," Kinsey answered thoughtfully. Maybe she would research it, find someone she could talk to, that could give her suggestions of things she could do.
As he spoke about how he coped, Kinsey leaned closer to him, focused on his every word. Her mouth opened slightly as he explained what he did. Looking for his own emotions. She'd honestly never tried to find her own intentions, but at the same time that sounded like a very good exercise. She nodded when he mentioned looking for positive ones in the crowd. "I've done that before," Kinsey admitted. "It's easier to focus on others if I'm actually touching them." Dan said that he normally walked away from the stronger ones and Kinsey agreed. She smiled, "Thanks. I've never been able to talk to someone that understands it before." Riley kind of understood, since he taught himself to read people, but at least he could stop if he wanted to. Kinsey couldn't ever turn it off.

She said her parents didn't really want her telling people about it and Dan immediately grimaced. "That's absurd," he said sharply, not really thinking about how he probably shouldn't be judging her parents so hard. But it was! He took a breath, relaxing this face muscles. "You're old enough to make your own decisions about your own abilities, I would say. It's not like they'd disown you if you got help, would they?" that would be awful, and he hoped that this wasn't the case otherwise his comment would have been very offensive.
She said she hadn't thought about finding people how knew how to help, and he shrugged, "neither did I, at first. Not until I drove myself insane and left the country, my girlfriend... I had to push myself to the brink to finally seek a solution. I don't want you to get to that point," he said.
She said that she had tried to find the positive emotions before, that it was easier when touching them. "Yeah, it's definitely easier when physical contact is involved for me too. I'm lucky my girlfriend is pretty good at staying positive. It's because I make her so happy, I think," he joked. "You need to surround yourself with people who support you," he added. She thanked him, saying she had never been able to talk to someone who understood. Dan nodded, "of course. I mean, anytime you need something we can talk. I'm really glad I ran into you, Kinsey."

Dan said that her parents not wanting her to tell people was ridiculous. Kinsey's eyes widened slightly, but she let him continue without saying anything. He said that she was old enough to make her own decisions, that her parents wouldn't disown her if she found help and for the first time, Kinsey started thinking about that. "I don't think so," she answered, hesitating. "I'm just not entirely sure where to go to find help. Do you know of anyone other than your person in Germany?" He probably didn't, which meant that Kinsey would need to look into it on her own.
Kinsey listened to his vague story about driving himself insane and leaving the country and everything that mattered to him. She didn't want to do that. Kinsey loved her home, loved Hogwarts and the people around her. She didn't want to have to leave Riley either. She nodded, "I don't want to either," she agreed, suddenly trying to think of how she could get help outside of Hogwarts. Maybe on Hogsmeade weekends.
He said that physical contact was definitely something that helped and that it was important to find people who supported her. Kinsey nodded slowly, thinking of Toby and Riley and her younger sisters. She probably needed more people than that to support her, especially when she had people like Dom around. She smiled when he said that he was there if she needed to talk. "I'll remember that," Kinsey answered with a nod. "Me too. I'll ... be in contact with you, I'm sure." Kinsey gave a soft laugh. "Wait, what's your last name?" she asked, wanting to make sure she could reach him if she needed to.

Her eyes widened a little and he felt bad for a second, but then she answered him, saying she didn't think that her parents would disown her, and he breathed a sigh of relief. She said that she wasn't entirely sure where to go find help, and asked if he knew of anyone else. He frowned. "I don't... but I'll look into it, I promise. Maybe my counselor in Germany knows someone here," he would have to remember to write them a letter when he got home.
She agreed that she didn't want to get to a bad point either and he nodded. "deciding not to let yourself get there is the surest way to assure that you don't," he said. Decision was the first step in any life decision. Being determined to hold to that decision was the second. She seemed pretty determined to make sure she was taken care of, as far as he could tell.
Kinsey nodded as he said to find people who supported her, but he felt her emotion shift for a second at the end, no doubt thinking of someone who didn't. Then she said she'd remember that she could talk to him, a smile on her face and in her emotions. She said she'd be in contact, and then asked his last name. He laughed a little then, too. 'oh! It's Hoh. Daniel Freidrich Hoh. I'll be looking for your letters."
@kinsey (and they lived happily... ever... after?)
