Several times throughout the new few hours Angie had felt like this was insane and seriously considered giving up, though she had to admit, she didn’t entirely know what giving up entailed. She found herself growing annoyed that they couldn’t just cast a spell to have the baby appear outside of her - with all the advancements in modern healing? Really? This whole process just seemed unnecessary.
But she made it though it - she supposed? At once there was a complete release of pressure and she felt the baby being pulled from her. A wave of relief and exhaustion fell over the blonde as the baby was taken away. She wasn’t exactly sure at what point she had begun squeezing the woman’s hand but she realized it and let go, feeling oddly thankful for the stranger. Well, kind of stranger, they had gone to school together. “Yeah.” Angie agreed between breaths when Callisto told her it was over. It was over, she supposed. Her brain felt very fuzzy.
A few minutes later the healer brought the baby back and set the little girl on Angie’s chest. She had a daughter. “She’s so little.” Angie cooed. She had never liked babies, but something felt different about this one. Probably the fact that it was hers and had came out of her body. This was the reason that she had been in discomfort for the last 9ish months. “Thanks for uh - staying.” Angie said quietly to the woman at her head. She had planned to do it all on her own, but she was honestly very glad she hadn’t had to. "Do you want to... hold her?" Angie asked, not sure whether or not that was weird. All of this was foreign to her.

Angie and her had both gotten through it, and Callisto knew more than ever that this would not be her medical specialty. Sure, she was glad for the experience and the training she had to get, but babies were not her thing. Not now, not ever. She was positive she'd never have any of her own. Definitely not. The baby was brought back in and Angie held her, commenting on how little she was. Callisto nodded, her brow furrowing a little as she took in the sight of the new mother and child. She was curious, for a brief moment, what that kind of thing would feel like... but not curious enough to convince her that she wanted it. Callisto nodded when Angie thanked her for staying. "Yes, of course," Callisto said, surprised at how soft and not strained her voice sounded. She meant it, she was glad to be a help to her former schoolmate. Plus, Angie looked so... peaceful now, holding that baby. Then Angie spoke again, asking if Callisto wanted to hold her. Callistos eyes widened for a moment. "Oh. Oh, I... sure," she stepped forward, her heart pounding annoyingly. She reached her hands out and gently took the girl, lifting her toward her own body, high on her chest. She looked down at the baby and was silent for a moment. "She looks like you," she realized, and - by some miracle - a small laugh escaped her lips. She looked back up at Angie. "A miracle, right?"@angie

Angie had never come around to figuring out how she felt about having a baby. For the last 8 and so odd months she knew she was pregnant and was having a baby, and she had made the decision, alone, to keep the child. But, it hadn't really set in, until this exact moment, what that meant for her. She now had someone completely dependent on her for everything: for life and for happiness. She had this little baby whom she now had to think of a name for and she had to learn how to change diapers and breastfeed - how she was supposed to learn how to do that?! Angie felt entirely overwhelmed by seeing Callisto standing there with her baby, she couldn’t help but just soak this moment in. “ Definitely a miracle.” @callisto ~ The End ~ Boom. Bonded for life.
