You don't know what they've learned, or what they are writing, but the journalist is known for spreading lies and slander for a good story. You better stop them before publication! But hey, why stop there? Everyone needs a pocket journalist!

Padma was sitting in the Three Broomsticks, quietly celebrating her successful completion of a week in her new job, listening to the burble of conversation. There were a couple of people at the bar talking about a concert, and a cursebreaker was making deals with a couple of goblins in the corner. The people at the next table seemed to be from The Daily Prophet, and were gossiping about what everyone was working on. Their target was a particularly infamous reported when it caught Padma's undivided attention. "Yeah, they've been working on some secret society thing. Orobous or something. Some snake symbolism thing. Didn't say much, you know how they get, but it should be interesting."

Padma's mind starting racing immediately as they moved on to some other colleague, tuning everyone else out completely. Rowena help her, she'd known the snake symbolism might come back to bite them, even if it was appropriate in every other way. If they thought that Ouroboros was the purist group, it would be a disaster. That article needed to not be published - no, it needed to never be written. And how had they known even that much? Did they have a leak already? Merlin, and if they found out Hermione was involved. She needed to speak to that journalist, as soon as possible.

She finished her drink quickly and paid. She knew she didn't have the position that she once had, but she still had insider knowledge and connections. Add a bit of crypticness and that would have to be enough. She'd owl the moment she reached the castle.

One of my contacts mentioned that you had an upcoming article about a secret organisation coming out soon. I've heard rumours of my own, and wished to ask a few questions and offer corroboration if possible. Off the record, of course, but I'm sure it can be mutually beneficial.

The journalist had gotten back to her promptly, and they had settled on a carefully warded room at The Three Broomsticks. And it had been a productive meeting thus far, once the groundwork of no Quick-Quotes Quills had been established.

They had known much less than Padma had feared, though they hadn't named their own source. And now it was Padma's turn to offer up what confirmation she would. "I can confirm that Ouroboros is not Elaine Dupree’s group, but rather a group in the mold of The Order of the Phoenix," she said softly. "I can't name my source, of course, but I can assure you that they are a member of the organization, and they'd appreciate your assistance in not writing this article. To reveal their existence at this critical juncture would put them and their mission of stopping Elaine Dupree in serious jeopardy."

The journalist nodded and looked intrigued, but was still scribbling notes, so Padma was forced to admit to herself that it was't enough to get them to not write the article. She tapped her finger against the table twice as she thought, her mental walls well up. If playing to communal interest didn't work, perhaps a bit of self-interest would provide the necessary push - and do some recruitment to boot. "They would like to extend you an invitation to participate. While obviously it would mean your current article would need to be scrapped, it would offer you insider knowledge into some of the most important issues of the moment and the exclusive trust of some well-placed people."

She was perilously close to tipping her hand, but Rowena help her, if she had to obliviate them to make sure the article never saw the light of day and she wasn't connected to the organization, she would.
