HE ALWAYS WOKE UP SWEATING. As if returning from a nightmare. It didn't matter how many times he'd taken Wolfsbane to lessen the ferocity. Or how many times he'd shifted at all. Aaron always opened his eyes as if in fright the following morning, his skin slick and feverish. But at least at the Claustrum De Lupus, there was no question of having hurt another person. Or himself.
Renting a room at the Inn was a precaution that was perhaps unnecessary, but even with the wonders of Wolfsbane Aaron didn't trust that part of himself. He had accepted it, but he didn't trust it. And so isolating himself seemed the smartest thing to do. 'Just in case'.
Having awoke splayed in a corner of the room, completely naked, Aaron rolled on to his knees with a sigh and a cursory scan around the room. His muscles groaned and pulled with exhaustion. A bone deep feeling that occurred whether or not Aaron moved around while shifted or lay curled in the same spot the entire night. His memories were present and uneventful. Relief surged through him with the same force as adrenaline.
His clothes from the previous night were folded at the corner of the small twin-sized bed, having stripped down to his underwear before the moon rose, if only to save what little items he owned as a frugal man. It was a routine he was intimately familiar with by now. But it didn't make it feel any less... tiring.
He shucked on his jumper and jeans and toed on his shoes while packing his worn rucksack. The Claustrum Inn was nice, but Aaron never did like to stay beyond what was completely necessary. And so oftentimes he was the first to make his way down stairs, hair mussed and cheeks still creased. The taste of Wolfsbane still lingering like morning breathe at the back of his mouth.
"That's me, Doris," He said with a thin, dimpled smile. Palming the spelled key on to the desk and pushing it towards her. Doris was an older women, but she seemed to work almost every full moon at Claustrum. Pinning eyes that gave each passing werewolf a cursory and piercing look. He'd yet to make her smile.
"And how did you find your stay, Mr Milen?" She rattled off, as if reading from a script. "Very well," He replied, as if reading from his own. Her fingers the only sound as they tacked against the keys of a computer in front of her. "Busy night?" He asked conversationally with a hint of humour, drumming his fingers against the desktop as she seemed to thoroughly check Aaron out from their database in a shrewd silence. She didn't deign answer.

@aaron The summer months meant more control. Not just in what she could and couldn’t do, but where she had to be during the full moon. Lily had, for the most part, gotten away with breaking out into the woods during the school year with little reprimanding after the fact. She always made sure to sneak deep into the forest, far beyond the reaches that any normal student could go without becoming lost or spider food. The trees and trails were mapped into her brain expertly – enough so that she could walk them with her eyes closed. That was all thanks to retaining the memories from her wolf. Without the beast, she would have been as helpless as the next student lost among the pines.
But that was during the school year. While at home she was subjected to taking the Wolfsbane. It was easy to run off with it at Hogwarts and pretend she had downed it before turning. In London, there were more eyes watching, more people to harm. She hated having to turn in a room inside a hotel built for werewolves, mostly because the older ones always sneered at her. She felt like a spectacle to them, especially with everything that had happened with her father recently. If the stares were coming from everyone, they were tenfold from the werewolves. Their ideologies on what it meant to be a werewolf may have come down to the same basic commandments, but Lily still felt an air of superiority over them because she felt the freedom that some of them had never felt – being able to attend Hogwarts as a wolf. Very few could say the same, most being the Greyback children and a few others privy to the deal.
Another part of that deal was renting out a small, suffocating room once a month and then basically knocking herself out with Wolfsbane before she turned. This was going to be a problem with her once she graduated, especially if it was to be expected of her to turn in here every month. Where was the freedom to that? The singular reason for becoming a wolf was to run free. Everyone that locked themselves inside these stuffy things clearly didn’t respect the powers that they had. Lily understood the potential concerns that came with turning in the wild, but taking precautions where muggles wouldn’t be was more worthwhile than being here. These werewolves had clearly lost touch with what it all meant.
Unfortunately she was not free from the rules this month and woke up the following morning in her room. The typical aches and pains that came with the next morning were absent; instead she felt stiff and groggy. The wolf’s muscles hadn’t been stretched out like they normally were and now she was going to be in a daze for the next few days. It happened without fail every time she was forced into this situation. Gingerly slipping her clothes back on, Lily spent a few minutes with her head resting against the wall, a slight chill overcoming her from the cold drywall. A sigh escaped her as she remembered that the school term was just around the corner, and soon this situation would be over with. That was, as long as Hogwarts didn’t force her into the dungeons when turning like they did with the rest of the werewolves. She had a feeling it would be like that this year.
Clicking open the door handle, Lily stuck her head out into the hallway, peering one way, and then the other. Empty. Like usual. She had a feeling that some were effected differently when it came to the potion. Her own body was relatively unscathed, aside from the grogginess, whereas others it seemed like it took them forever to get up the next morning. Her brain also told her to get in and out of the building as fast as possible each month, so as to avoid those glares she hated so much. This time it seemed like she was one of the first (or maybe one of the last, considering the silence), and her footsteps echoed up and down the corridor as she made her way back towards the front of the building. Upon arriving, her eyes picked out the two figures standing at the front desk – the attendant lady, Lily was positive her name was Dory or Doreen, or something like that; it was an insignificant factoid that really didn’t matter much to her past saying hello and goodbye each time she was forced to come here. As for the other person, the man, Lily didn’t really pay much attention to him, instead opting to stare at her feet as she took her place behind him in the newly formed line at the front desk.

DORIS DID NOT RECEIVE AARON'S HUMOUR WELL. She never had, but Aaron simply couldn't help himself. It was an instinctive mechanism he often fell upon whenever he felt awkward or tense. Something that worked with varying degrees of success. For instance, that morning, Doris was having none of it.
"I must request as a rule that you answer the following questions," Doris simply said, her tone flat and shrill, eyes squinted. Not every attendant insisted on reciting these rules, but Aaron felt as if Doris was punishing him for his 'joke'. He sighed, but nodded. She rattled off the first three.
Did he leave the room as he found it? He answered yes. Did he report, agree to report, any damages to the room? He said yes. Did he know that upon renting a room, any damages found during or after the fact would be billed straight to him upon discovery? He wished to roll his eyes but simply muttered yes.
And then he heard the shuffle of another behind him. Soft feet, echoing around to his good ear in that same half-manner. He turned his face instinctively, shifting the trap of his rucksack as he wished for escape. It was embarrassing, being questioned as if he'd committed some felony. Aaron moved out of the way, eager to be gone now that there was a waiting queue behind him and a viable excuse to hurry. "Always a pleasure, Ms. Doris," He said in that same lilting accent.
But as he turned and stepped away he saw a flash of red and the shape of a face in profile. He turned fully as he backed away, catching her face in full view. And he recognised her. Potter... something Potter... "Lily?" He blurted, surprised to see her there somehow. So much so that her name came thick and accented from his tongue. More Leh-Lee than Lily. She had been close to Adrian, a brother in blood to Aaron, a bond still somewhat new and infantile when he'd left for America. He'd never had the chance to speak with Lily since or even before, really.

@aaron Her gaze refused to shift from her feet to the man in front of her, who apparently knew her name. Even the heavy accent didn’t draw her eyes upward, her history with Adrian would have forced them to in the past, but she was done with that now. There were plenty of foreigners that she knew of, but mostly them of her. Using her first name meant he was on some sort of familiarity with her, the typical ‘Miss Potter’ being utilized by virtually everyone else. Apparently she was the type that always warranted a formal greeting. She had never really cared for that, especially if a wave or a bear hug would suffice. The real kicker here, though, was that this man had to be a werewolf too, and that was where she got confused. The accent dictated that he wasn’t a Frenchman, and therefore not an alumni from Beauxbatons. Not like they would ever let someone like her or this guy into their halls. They preferred a more pure and beautiful kind of student. Letting in wild animals would impede on that goal. That left Hogwarts and Durmstrang; the former she knew too well, the latter had one, Elias, and he was dead as dead could be.
Her stubbornness faltered once the lady at the front desk asked her to step forward for her own checkout. The woman cleared her throat loudly when Lily refused to move up the first time. Rolling her eyes, the Gryffindor finally did as she was told, a rather sour taste starting to form in her mouth. She didn’t need to be chastised by an old bat working as a receptionist for a pack of grumpy, hungry werewolves. Oh the things she could do to this woman if it was a full moon…
As she stepped forward, that was when her eyes finally flicked up the man, who was easily an entire foot taller than she was. Did she really know someone like him? He certainly looked familiar, but that was literally everyone she ran across. They all seemed to know her, after all. Lily began to open her mouth to ask him his name when the receptionist (she was now convinced her name was Doreen), cleared her throat once again. “Excuse me for a moment,” she said to the man, annoyance laced in her words. “Everything is exactly how I found it last night, Doreen. I already heard you ask him while I was patiently waiting to be helped. Try not to hurt yourself while pretending to be the bad cop. It’s not a flattering look for you.” Lily didn’t give the woman time to respond before turning back to face the man. “Sorry. You had a question? Before we were rudely interrupted?” She asked, making sure to shoot one final, side-eye at the witch on the other side of the counter.

WHEN AARON HAD CALLED LILY'S NAME, it had been a knee jerk reaction. Something that had fallen out of his mouth without thought or motive. He didn't really know the girl. But they had something in common, a different connection with the same person. That didn't warrant him position to approach her. But, it had been a surprise. He hadn't expected to see her. The Inn being a somewhat private experience for him. To see a familiar face was almost like getting caught with his pants down.
Although, perhaps her reaction was even more of a shock. Aaron's steps halted, his mouth parting slightly as Lily excused herself without reply and turned in a flurry of curly red hair and pinched features when Doris called upon her tersely. Aaron was flabbergasted at the following verbal lashing Doris received. He was a strictly polite person, even when it was perhaps undeserved. Having lived in a government home where a wooden spoon could find itself wrapped around your knuckles if you didn't say please and thank you, Aaron's manners were drummed in to him with a militant fashion.
Doris seemed as dumbstruck as Aaron when Lily finished, he watched her gums flap, his eyes flickering away as Lily turned toward him. Aaron almost flinched, half expecting her to rattle off on him, as well. He took a step back just in case, clenching his fist around the strap of his bag. He stuttered, clearing his throat as he followed Lily's side eye to find Doris glaring at him. As it were also his fault. He averted his gaze as if he agreed.
"Uh... I didn't, I just," He muttered, gnawing on the inside of his lip. "I recognised you, is all." He seemed to consider his actions then, how unwelcome they might be. You didn't stay to make friends at Claustrum. "I mean, you knew my... my brother." He took that step forward, ducking his head so that Doris couldn't eavesdrop. "Greyback?" He added, watching to see how she might react. The name held different connotations for different people. Often ill-received. He couldn't predict her reaction. Less so after the previous display.

@aaron Doreen seemingly found herself at a loss for words, exactly how Lily had intended to leave the woman. Such atypical behavior out of the tiny redhead, and for once her hair color and words matched each other. This time last year there would have been little resistance to obligatory questioning of this sort, the difference now being that she didn’t have the time for a grown woman to be snarky to her. The act had gotten old the last few times Lily had been forced to stay in a room here, and that sort of personality was unforgettable. If she wanted to be continuously criticized, she would stay at Hogwarts all year round with the professors. Surely a few of them would have a thing or two to say to her without the oversight of other students or a headmistress around, most of which would be a long time coming for her. There was a reason the Gryffindor always opted to go home for Christmas and escape to Hogsmeade on the weekends. Being stuck inside a stuffy castle with adults that weren’t particularly fond of her, and vice-versa, was not her cup of tea.
Fortunately that was it from the peanut gallery, and Lily turned her full attention on the mysterious man who knew her name. She narrowed her eyes at him as he explained that he recognized her. Her head tilted to the side slightly as she tried to place his face with a name, but there was nothing, at least until he added that she knew his brother. Straightening up, Lily understood what he meant before he said the last name. So this guy was another Greyback? There were plenty of names of older siblings, or half-siblings really, that she had heard from Jamie. “You must be one of the ones I haven’t met yet then,” she figured, doing her best to switch a more pleasant look onto her face, compared to the one she had just used on Doreen. “Which brother of yours is that? It might make a difference on whether I’ve heard about you or not,” Lily teased, though also slightly curious about which one it was. If it was Adrian, then there was a possibility she would know this guy. Very few secrets had been spared between them.

IT WAS IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS THAT LILY DIDN'T RECOGNISE AARON. He saw the flicker of confusion and suspicion on her face, narrowed eyes sounding alarm bells in his head. He wished he hadn't said anything at all. His rucksack handle taking a battering as he stood before her, fighting the urge to shift in place as his face became a little warm.
But, at the very least, the name Greyback was familiar. Which is exactly why he'd used it. Not a connection he was always readily willing to give, but in this instant seemed to lessen the tension a little bit. Enough that he didn't feel as threatened.
"Well, there is an awful lot of us," He said with a short laugh, lifting one hand to rub at the back of his head. "Fenrir was a busy individual." The name came out with an unintentional edge, using the word 'individual' because 'man' seemed something of a stretch. A bitterness ingrained to his very being. There was a slight awkwardness to being forced to have this conversation in the lobby of the little Inn. Doris leering in the background, her wrinkly bat ears straining to hear the thread of conversation. Prompting Aaron to keep his voice down.
"Uh, I knew of Adrian and his friendship with you." He admitted, feeling almost as if he were being interrogated. "But we haven't had a chance to get to know one and other." He said, and there was a tinge of disappointment in his tone. Aaron wanted to know all of his siblings. It was the one ray of sunshine to come out of the hell of his beginnings. "Mostly, I know of you from word of mouth."
Aaron breathed hard through his nose, a closed lip smile dimpling both his cheeks as he shrugged his shoulders. "I probably had no right to put you on the spot as I did," He said with a little shred of humour colouring his tone. "Sometimes I..." He waved his hand, the phrase lost in translation. "My brain, it doesn't connect with my mouth always." He'd meant that he didn't always 'think before he spoke', but the collection of words ran amuck from him at the last minute. He finished with a little trembling scoff.

@aaron Lily knew that laughing at the comment about Fenrir would be off-kilter, even for her, despite the fact that the man was laughing about it. She opted for a smile instead, curling the corners of her mouth just enough to show that she understood the dark humor. Fenrir Greyback was responsible for irreversible evils, there was no denying that. But he was also the source of existence for Jamie and Adrian. There was no refuting that detail. Without one, there could not be the other, and that was a tough ball to juggle at times. What she felt discussing the sire Greyback, a strange assortment of uneasiness and happiness depending on the situation, was probably what his children had felt their entire lives. Especially those that were wolves. Having that connection to them made it easier for her to feel included in those dialogues, even if she would never truly understand what it was like. Lily could have said or done anything as a response, but decided her smile and a nod of her head were enough to show her agreement. What wasn’t a touchy subject among some, was a taboo to others, and she didn’t want to get off on the wrong foot with this man as he seemed kind and genuine enough to her.
He brought up Adrian, and she drew in a sharp inhale at the word ‘friendship’. The question here, was what did he know? That Adrian had turned her, or that they had been in something more than a friendly relationship? Albeit one that was cut short by someone’s departure. She certainly wasn’t still sour about that. Not in the slightest. Adrian was still Adrian, and his actions at the end weren’t indicative of him as a person. Lily knew him better than that, and from the way the man was explaining things, probably more so than this half-brother did as well. “I’m sure it’s been difficult with him being out of the country the last few months,” she said tactfully, mostly to keep her own composure. His absence had been superseded by her own father’s disappearance, though having him with her during all of this would have helped immensely when it came to sorting all of her emotions and feelings out. Jamie had offered, but Lily couldn’t rely on her forever, and the length of summer break was not long enough to recuperate from an event like this. Assuming it was possible at all in the first place. “They better be all good things, or else I’m going to have to get on a plane and teach him a lesson,” she grinned, trying to switch gears once again. That was more like her old self – like the Lily that everyone enjoyed being around more. This mopey, whiny, depressed version was so terrible that even she agreed it got annoying after a while.
“No need to apologize,” she stated quickly, waving her hands in front of her to get him to stop. There was no reason for him to feel like he needed to do that. Her spite had been released onto Doreen, and that had been the end of it. “You know how it is sometimes after all that,” Lily continued, motioning with her head back in the direction of the rooms. Whilst she was relatively unharmed by the full moon, it was a solid defense for a snippy behavior. She could just as easily say she barely got any sleep from the wolf, and anyone would eat it up. “Though you might be right about the brain and mouth thing,” she teased. “It seems to have forgotten the part where it has you tell me your name. Not sure how you feel on me calling you by your father’s surname out in public.” Especially if he didn’t want to be attached to the Greyback legacy. Lily agreed on that somewhat, her Greybacks being Jamie and Adrian, and the ones that actually cared for her, and her for them. Their psychopath daddy meant absolutely nothing to her aside from what his children meant to her.

AARON TRIED TO BE AS INVOLVED AS POSSIBLE, when it came to his extended family of half-siblings. But, though some time had passed since his knowledge of them had grown, he still felt like there was much to do. He didn't know half as much as he wished to. Had mostly bonded with Jamie and Max. Perhaps it was his job, or his fear of crossing a line others were not ready to cross yet. Which is why he battled with his decision to speak to Lily at all. Was it his place, after all? At the very least, he had his humour.
"I, uh. What I know of Adrian comes mostly from others, unfortunately." Aaron explained, moving both hands down to tuck in to his pockets. He looked at Lily, trying to find some knowledge she wasn't sharing. Was she turning questions on to him? He couldn't be sure, but it was a tactic he often applied himself. Rather ask a question than answer one. "I'm sure you... ache more than I have warrant to, being his friend." He gave a soft smile, but didn't ask her to elaborate, as she'd already tried to move the subject from herself already.
Instead, he found reason to laugh as she threatened to fly over to Adrian for gossiping. "I can assure you there's no need," He said with a genuine chuckle. "I mostly know your name from Jamie, if I'm honest. And even then it's simply in passing." He felt the need to assure, even if it'd been said in good humour. "Nobody is gossiping about you... that I know of." Dipping his head slightly, his smile was a little crooked as he looked at her.
Though he still felt firm in his apology, Aaron appreciated Lily's attempt to wave it off. It had been strange, he knew it had been. Whatever had seized her before in her brutal take down of Doris seemed to have passed. Like a shiver down the spine. "That I do..." He said softly, shrugging his shoulders up to his ears. He still felt a little empty on the inside. As if some animal part of him was still yearning for a full moon. But, at least Lily hadn't punished his brain for failing him. Except...
Aaron let out a bark of laughter, shaking his head as Lily prodded him in an attempt to learn his name. "Sorry," He rushed, shaking his head, his brown eyes glittering with humour. "Aaron. My name is Aaron Milen." He pulled one hand from his pocket and offered it to her. Though a hand shake was perhaps a little late, he thought it'd be funny. "And you are...?" As if he hadn't very nearly shouted it across the room a moment before.
"Though I don't mind being referred to as a Greyback." He felt the need to add as he took his hand back. "One day that name is going to mean something different," He said with an upward tilt of his chin, jaw sharpening surely. "I sweat to that."

@aaron Interesting. He didn’t know all that much about Adrian…so that must mean he really didn’t know a lot about her either, right? There weren’t many instances where she got paranoid about what strangers thought of her, the exception being the little factoid about how Adrian was the werewolf that had turned her. She liked keeping that one between as few people as possible. Even if this guy, the half-brother to her favorite people, seemed to be fine with her as a werewolf and the way his half-siblings acted, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t ostracize Adrian if he found out. Lily had already heard all the whining about how she could have died, and how this was going to change the rest of her life. Who really cared? It was her life. The man added that he was sure she ached more than he did, and she felt her eyebrows momentarily furrow, until the word friend ended the sentence. “Yeah…but he had to leave school. I can’t fault him for that.” She had delivered that with more confidence than she had in her a few months earlier. Back then, she would have tried to dodge anything to do with Adrian, which probably only made it obvious that she was hurting. Letting go was unfortunately part of the healing process though, and getting hung up on him forever wouldn’t get her anywhere.
Bringing up Jamie helped a little more with the conversation though. She was such a social butterfly, always reaching out to her half-siblings and making sure to introduce Lily to them as well. “Oh I’m sure they are,” she laughed. “If anyone says something about a crazy person, that’s me. Jamie knows all about that.” Jamie bore the brunt of it a lot of times, especially lately. While it wasn’t fair of the Gryffindor to dump all of her feelings all the time on her friend, it still happened. Jamie was simply good at being there for her when nobody else was. “But she’s the best,” Lily added with a nod of her head. “I call her my sister too, sometimes. Because I imagine if I did actually have one, I’d want her to be like Jamie,” Lily admitted.
He stuck his hand out to her, saying his name was Aaron. This guy was Aaron? She had heard about him before! “Nice to finally meet you Aaron,” she said as she shook his hand. “I am the one and only Lily Potter. Considering the directions your siblings are going, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about being a Greyback pretty soon here. I think it’s an honor to be in the presence of some of them,” Lily grinned up at him. If all of the children were as earnest as Aaron and Jamie were, they wouldn’t have to worry about a thing. It was stupid to compare children to their parents after all. She knew that just as well as they did. “So what do you do Aaron? Work at the Ministry? Or something more action oriented?” Might as well get to know him better now that they had met.

AARON COULD EASILY ADMIT HE WAS A LITTLE EMBARRASSED TO KNOW SO LITTLE. Having Lily assume he knew things because of his relations, and then having to admit that really wasn't the case at all was worth blushing over. But, at the very least, she didn't appear to judge him for it. In fact she didn't seem to care at all, easily chatting with him about Adrian and his sudden absence.
"Yes, I suppose none of us can." He said with a soft smile, not pushing for a more emotional response because of an assumption of their connections. Plus, she seemed more than happy to leave it there. Something a little flippant in her tone. He couldn't tell if it was unusual for her, or not from his point-of-view. "Oh, well I'm sure that's not entirely true." He denied, though Lily seemed in fairly good spirit about her supposed insanity. "And if it is, I haven't heard a thing about it, so it can't be that bad or maybe I don't get out enough."
One thing Aaron did agree with was Lily's opinion of Jamie. His smile widened and his eyes softened, he thought highly of his sister. "We're lucky to have her." And he meant it wholeheartedly. Aaron didn't quite know what would have become of him if he had met any other sibling first. Jamie made it better, easier. He admired the sameness in Lily, their shared connection to a single person. "Connections like that don't always require blood, I say." His chin jutting down as he did. "Just like you shouldn't feel forced when blood is in the mix."
In a round-about way Aaron was talking about his father. Blood was a confusing thing, but Aaron was inclined to believe that it took more than blood to forge loyalty. He hadn't always thought as much, but time and experience had taught him otherwise.
Shaking Lily's hand, Aaron was smiling with amusement. "Nice to finally meet you, Lily." This time her name came out softer, his accent fading as if he instinctively mirrored hers. "I've heard only good things." He said in reference to her previous statement. "And all in good time." She was right, his siblings were a testament on how blood meant nothing in the long run. It didn't dictate who you became.
Rubbing at the back of his head, Aaron found Lily's assumption that he worked for the ministry a bit funny. "I'm not a fan of desk work," He laughed, shaking his head slightly. "Although I reckon playing Quidditch counts as action of some kind." With a shrug, he thought a bit about it before explaining. "I'm a seeker for the Appleby Arrows. Just transferred from Puddlemere."
Quidditch was Aaron's first love, he could rattle on about it for hours on end. "What about you?" He asked in return. "Are you still in school? Max, my other sister, she's a sixth year now." He crossed his arms casually and smiled at her. "I admit, I don't miss school any more."

@aaron “No, it totally is!” Lily was prepared to fight Aaron on this one; she was definitely the wild child, the loony, the one with more than just a few loose screws. No one in their right mind would ask a werewolf to bite her in order to become one as well. That was a death wish. She also happened to enjoy playing with the giant squid at the school, and climbing all over the forest and castle when she could manage it. Random outbursts of laughter in situations that didn’t warrant it were commonplace, those moments only stifled when she found herself quite literally tongue-tied by hexes shot at her from a passersby, whether as a form of revenge or a prank. There were way too many instances to count where she bordered the crazy line, which was a far reach from anything normal happening around her. “You said it yourself. You must not get out enough,” she said defiantly, proud of her insanity. Talking about it made her feel better, considering the circumstances of late that had led to her morose behavior. Attempting to capture a glimmer of what once was, was better than losing it completely like she thought would happen. Now it didn’t seem like all hope was gone.
She gave a toothy grin as Aaron also agreed that Jamie was the key to a lot of the happiness in the Greyback clan. Obviously she was. That was what Hufflepuffs were for! That and warm hugs and good vibes. Plenty of badgers had her attention when it came to those traits, since it seemed like she tossed most of them to the side when trying to pull crazy stunts or pranks. They filled in the gaps that she missed out on. Aaron added that he didn’t believe blood relations always lead to meaning family, and Lily continued nodding her head. There were times where she knew that she didn’t get along with her family, Albus specifically, but she would never completely break that bond unless forced to. As for Albus, he was something else altogether. Something she couldn’t figure out without getting a massive headache. “Agreed. If we make pets part of our family, why can’t friends be part of it too?” It was a poor comparison, but worked well enough for her.
Her eyes widened. He was a seeker for the Arrows? How hadn’t she heard of this? Probably for the same reason she hadn’t met him yet, or paid much attention to anything lately. Being in the dark place did that apparently. “Cool!” Lily let the word hang for a few seconds, before responding to his question about herself. “One more year,” she scrunched her nose up in annoyance. “I don’t know how I feel about the whole graduating thing, and then being tied to a job. Seems too constricting to me.” And it meant that she would have to try on her exams if she wanted to get a decent enough job where she could continue to goof off. Looking at the grades she had the end of the last term, a position as a cashier seemed like it was right up her alley.

AARON FOUND HIMSELF A LITTLE TAKEN ABACK. Lily's aggressive desire to be deemed 'crazy' seemed to know no bounds. Despite the fact that he'd politely refused to believe as much, she seemed intent on proving him wrong. Her voice taking on a fevered pitch. His mouth slackened and he stifled a smile, lest she take it as an insult. "Well, if you insist." He said simply, nipping at his top lip, his dimples carving out his cheeks but his lips defiantly straight.
At the very least, she seemed happy to agree with him when it came to family. He felt relieved that he wouldn't have to fight her on that subject as well. "Exactly," He nodded, spurred on by the mention of pets. "I have a dog at home who fits the bill quite well." Lupo was Aaron's pride and joy. A mixed breed with too much energy and more than enough loyalty. He the perfect companion.
"Yeah, I like to think so." He laughed. Aaron could talk Quidditch til the sun went down, but he didn't want to frighten the girl away. Though, when the subject of school was broached something in Lily's face dropped. For a long time school had been Aaron's escape, but he knew what it felt like to dread something completely. Particular group homes could do that to you.
"Ah, what's a single year?" He tried to comfort, smiling as he rocked on his heels slightly. "And then you're done for good, plus no parents nagging you about graduating any more."

@aaron Lily raised both hands with a thumbs-up as Aaron agreed to accept her craziness. “I do. It’s all I have left sometimes.” Wow. That didn’t sound sad and depressing or anything. She had meant to say that was the majority of her personality, and that Aaron would have to get used to her random outbursts if they were going to be buddies moving forward. Nope, she got the scary sounding words instead. Regardless, it looked like he was amused by her enthusiasm to be classified as a loony, and she was perfectly fine with that. Better to get all of that out of the way right at the start, right?
Her mouth dropped open slightly when he said he had a dog. She always wanted one, but yeah, like that was going to happen in their house. Especially now. There were certain things Lily was looking forward to after graduating: the first being that she could move out and have a place of her own, the second was getting a dog. Nothing too special though, any old thing from the shelter would do as long as it was fluffy, enjoyed belly rubs, and liked going for walks. Basically a domesticated version of her wolf-self. “Ooh what kind? Hogwarts has too many cats if you ask me. I can do owls, but cats are just…” she sighed dramatically, trying to make a point. “You know?” The cats of Gryffindor didn’t like her, obviously sensing something more sinister beneath her silliness. That and she used to chase them around the common room when she was bored and not allowed out after hours. If only they had learned to let her pet them gently, and then she never would have gotten aggressive with them. The same could be said about Adrian at times.
A single year was a long time though, but wasn’t at the same time. Assuming this upcoming one mimicked the last one in terms of eventfulness, then it would be done in a blink of an eye, gone completely unless she managed to find her hands clicking back the knob on a time-turner. As for the nagging from parents, well, it was only one, singular parent now. She couldn’t hold that against him though, seeing as his father wasn’t exactly winning a dad of the year award. “That’s true,” Lily agreed. “But there’s still the job hunting part, and yeah. Don’t think that needs much explanation.”

THOUGH AARON WASN'T ALWAYS THE MOST FORTHRIGHT WHEN IT CAME TO HIS FEELINGS, he was quite astute at reading others. Be it his constant defensive tactic of turning conversations on to the people around him, or just plain intuition. And though Lily was generally quite erratic, there was something about the way she said certain things. All she had left? It sent a pang through Aaron's chest, a familiar feeling, but he didn't voice such concerns. After all, he hardly knew the girl.
Instead of saying something in kind, Aaron smoothed the frown on his face and hummed under his breath. If she wished to confide in him down the road, he wouldn't deny that. But in the lobby of the Inn, it didn't feel quite as appropriate. Plus, Aaron was all too happy to chat merrily about Lupo. "Oh, he's a bit of everything." He said, pedalling his palm 'so-so'. "I rescued him from a Muggle pound." Aaron was most certainly a 'dog' kind of person. "Durmstrang wasn't so bad for cats," He said with a laugh. "They're both good at catching vermin, that's all I really know."
With a shrug, Aaron had tried to be helpful reminding Lily it was only a year. But he'd forgotten how stressful a final school year could be. Especially if you found no joy in being there. "Hm, that's a lot of thinking to be doing in summer," He joked, his head tilting slightly. "You should be enjoying your last free term." He reached over and patted her shoulder, trying to be comforting.
"Hey, I didn't think I'd get to play Quidditch professionally at your age." It was a story he hadn't intended to divulge, but he felt a desire to try and lift her spirits. "They tell me, 'no respecting team will take you. you're a ward and a wolf.'" A sly smirk tugged at his lips. "Sometimes the best motivation is spite. Proving the people you doubt you that they are wrong." Pursing his lips he nodded. "Even if the person you are proving wrong is yourself."
