He said his parents didn't have a clue about his wanting to change careers, and she exhaled a little along with him. That was going to be a fun conversation, one that she was glad she didn't have to have with anyone now. She had sort of had that talk with Natalia and Phil, knowing that they wouldn't love the idea of her becoming a hit-witch, and that was hard enough. Neville still didn't know, and Hannah... well, she probably found out through the grapevine but she hadn't outright said anything about it, so Andy assumed she was just fine with it. He said that he had played 'their' version of life long enough, talking again about how Claire was there to manage all of that stuff. He said that maybe his parents thought Claire was a failure, and that was why they wanted him to be an auror. Andy didn't respond to that, even when he paused. He went on to say he didn't think she was a failure, even if their own relationship wasn't the best. Andy nodded slowly, taking those thoughts in. "It must be hard being an older sibling," she guessed. She had no idea what that was like, of course. "I think a lot is expected of them. But, at least you're confident enough to follow your own path, right?' it wasn't really a question, more like a statement. She held her own drink a little tighter, and realized it had cooled down a little since she hadn't been drinking any. "I suppose we've got to part ways soon," she suggested, not wanting to keep him. grey xavier slater(end these two hahah)

@lestrange The fact that Andy had him thinking about whether or not being an older sibling was difficult was probably enough to say that it wasn’t. If he and Addi had a few years difference between them, instead of just the one, then he was sure that he would have to be more of ‘the older sibling’. But he wasn’t exactly the type for her to look up to either; that was Claire. Grey’s own experiences in life were barely newborns by the time Addi was getting to them as well, whereas Claire had years on both of them. In a way, Andy was right about expectations with the oldest. “I think being in the middle means dealing with a lot more than I asked for…so yeah, I’m confident in changing gears and following my own path.” Hearing it come out of his own mouth helped a lot – hopefully more talk like this would be the nudge he needed to leave the Ministry and do what he really wanted to do. But that chat with Andy could come another time. Her suggestion had him glancing at his watch, quickly realizing that it was time for him to head over to Cecelia’s apartment. “Actually, I should have been on my way about five minutes ago,” he laughed. Standing up from the table, Grey adjusted his jacket and drained what remained in his coffee cup. “Good seeing you again. Say hi to Claire for me next time you see her at work.” Giving Andy a nod, Grey turned to leave the sitting area of the coffee shop, dropping his empty cup in the trash on his way. Their conversation was somewhat successful on his end, though he wasn’t sure if Andy came to any conclusions on her life. Hers seemed more interesting than his did, and hearing her stories would probably require more than a ten minute conversation. Maybe next time. [The End]
