--Message me all questions/concerns/problems you may have! This is just a test so there are going to be bugs/complications!--
Welcome to the second Quidditch scrimmage game! This one will be testing out the ‘Battle ship’ style. The competing teams are:
Power Princess Chaser: @cho Chaser: @jim Chaser: @roxanne Beater: @aaron Beater: @finn Keeper: @zita
Double-Crossers Chaser: @jace Chaser: Beater: @winnie Keeper: @daniel
The Battleship system works in two phases. The grid phase, and the roleplay phase.
Grid Phase: A grid is posted below. Each team will take turns picking a spot, just like regular battleship. Hidden in this grid are ‘ships’. You want to sink them. Different ships will have different actions and can be varying grid lengths. The teams will have a private discord discussion so they can decide together where they want to go, and also so they can work together to sink the ships. The grid phase will continue until each team has had 12 turns (that’s 2 for each position. In the event a team has less members another member will take those 2 turns).
Roleplay Phase: Once each team has had their turns (review above) the posting phase begins. Each member will have two turns, and will post according to what they got on each of their turns. The order can be adjusted to ensure game fluidity (example: keeper saves will be done after a score, to stop the attempt.). Again, if teams are uneven one team will have a few players post extra to account for it.
The ships that are hidden in the grid are: QUAFFLE: your chasers score a point. (varying lengths. 1 3 square (worth two goas), 2 1 square, rest 2 square.)
BLUDGER: your beaters hit an opposing player - opposing team loses a turn (2 squares long.)
SAVE: your keeper saves a shot and cause a score to fail. (2 squares long.)
SNITCH: Not used in the trial Don’t worry about it.
FOUL: There are several types of fouls hidden throughout the board. (1 square length). The types of fouls you may find are: Blatching - Intentionally colliding with another play (lose a turn.) Blurting - Locking broom handles with an opponent (lose a turn) Stooging - more than one chaser in the scoring area (penalty shot - opposing team gets a point.) Cobbing - Elbowing an opponent (penalty shot - opposing team gets a point.) Bumphing -Beater sending a Bludger into the crowd of spectators. Game is stopped to protect the spectators. (Prevents your opposing team from scoring BUT both teams’ unsunk ships get scrambled to new locations. You lose all progress on ships.)
Some special rules/situations to know. -If all the ships of one type are sunk (all the quaffles. All the saves. All the bludgers. All the fouls.) new ones will be added to the game! This will continue until the snitch is caught (doesn’t apply to the scrimmage) or when there aren’t enough spaces to warrant it (typically when ¾ of the board is discovered.) -If you are unable to take your turn in the grid phase or post on your turn in the roleplay phase you can work with your team to have someone take your turn. -Each team has a secret chat to discuss their strategy/etc. What happens in these chats stays there. Don’t tell your opponents what you are up to
Please remember these are just the trial runs. The ships could be slightly different (including adding the snitch), the rules will be concrete, etc,in an actual game. For now, we want to try just a simplified version of the style so that we can decide if this is the style we would like to use at Alohomora
GRID IN THE SPOILER BELOW

GRID PHASE
So we are in the grid phase! The order is posted below. Teams. Please utilize your private group chats! While each player has their own turn, you have the oportunity to work together, so it's always good to listen to your team mates. This phase will last 10 DAYS, or until every member has had two turns to pick a square.
How to select a square: Pick any where on the grid that your team hasn't already selected. I will be keeping an up to date map for each team and sharing it everytime a square is chosen so you know where you've been. You will notify me of your selection by commenting in your discord chat and tagging me(any decision that doesn't tag me likely won't be noticed.) I will let you know what happens in the square (hit, miss, what type of hit.)
And that's it!

ROLEPLAY PHASE
The grid phase has completed and I have the results below!! To give everyone a taste of how the posting phase works, you will each have two posts (two people on one team will have 3 due to being short a member). In an actual game we may change that up depending on preferences. I've included one thing that needs to happen in your posts for you to cover. This is basically meant to help keep the flow of the game going so that when ships are sunk they make the most sense.
As I mentioned in the first post, sometimes the posting order might be very slightly different from the grid order for game flow improvement. There was one situation where I did swap two member's posts just to ensure they got actions that were more suited to their position (Suzie's and Kierra's first posts.) for flow improvement (the penalty shot post was better suited for a chaser.).
There is NO word requirement for these posts! A simple paragraph works if that is all you can come up with, or more if you like! Up to you! Whatever you feel you are able to get out in a timely manner (so people aren't having to wait too long for you.)
MNM - @winnie - start of game - your team (Kaylee) has the quaffle TJ - @jim - Cobbing foul (elbowed Kaylee to try and get the quaffle.). Opposing team gets a penalty shot.
Kierra - @jace - other team caused a penalty shot. You take it and score. Lisa - @finn - Your team has quaffle, you protect the chaser from a bludger. suzie - @daniel - opposing team tries to score. You stop it, pass quaffle to team mate. Lina - @zita - other team tries to score quick, you stop it. pass quaffle to Roxanne. ali - Savtaj Daniel MacMillan - you got a bludger, now go hit Roxanne! Kath - @roxanne - got hit by a bludger, and knocked into the stands, dropping the quaffle. It hurt but you'll recover after a few seconds. Audrey - kaylee māhealani mahi'ai - got the quaffle! Ana - @cho - Steal the qaffle MNM - @winnie - hit cho with a bludger, your team pick it up. Chanel - @aaron - You got the quaffle now.
MNM - @winnie - hit a bludger towards jim. TJ - @jim - dodge the bludger, pass it to cho. Ali - Savtaj Daniel MacMillan - you hit a bludger towards Cho. Lisa - @finn - intercept the bludger for cho, hit to daniel instead. Suzie - @daniel - Cho tries to score while you dodge bludger. Avoid the bludger, catch the quaffle, pass to JAce who scores quickly. Lina - @zita - you miss catching the quaffle/opposing team scores. You pass to Roxanne who goes and scores quickly. Kierra - @jace - quaffle passed to you after other team scores, make your way across the field. Kath - @roxanne - Steal the quaffle from Jace. Audrey - kaylee māhealani mahi'ai - Try to steal the quaffle back, miss. Ana - @cho - quaffle passed to you from Roxanne. Try to score, but miss. Suzie - @daniel - Intercept a shot, try to pass to your team. Chanel - @aaron -Hit a bludger at Daniel, Cho intercepts the quaffle and scores.
There we have it! The scrimmage ends with a score of 20-20! We pulled a tie! Now lets get these posts done! You can definitely write them out in advance and post them as your turn comes up. If you have any questions be sure to reach out to me.
FIRST UP: @mnm - @winnie.
Make sure to always tag the next person in the posting order when you get your post up so they know it's their turn!

Winnie had been excited to join in the match, for the blonde it was basically any excuse for her to get up on a broom and play some Quidditch. She had been itching to get on her broom, eyes darting around eager for the match to begin so she could get flying. Patience wasn't exactly the best thing on her mind right now and her body was buzzing with excitement as she waited for Ref to get things started. As soon as she was given the go ahead though - Winnie was up and off into the air, a wide grin on her face as she bolted off into the match. One hand clutched her broom, the other holding her bat as her eyes took in what was going on around her.
The match had kicked into gear quickly, apparently Winnie wasn't the only one eager to get into the air and to get the match going. She hadn't sighted a bludger yet but she could see Kaylee moving quickly nearby. She had the Quaffle in her possesion and Winnie grinned as she took note of this, her team was already moving well.
[Your turn: @jim!]

Jim wasn’t sure how he got roped into a Quidditch match from off the street. Still it didn’t take much convincing to have him join in the game. There was a moment or two that he rethought his decision as he looked at some of the other players. Jim was in his thirties and here he was in a match with kids that looked like they were certainly still in school. Sure not all of them looked young and some might even have been closer to his age but their were children here. Should he really be playing against them? Yet he couldn’t help being on a broom once more, Jim loved Quidditch more than he did most people in his life. Sadly he never could make it as a professional player but that didn’t seem like it was going to be an issue in a pick-up game with other people just off the street.
One the match did start the age of some of other the players didn’t matter too much to him. Well that was till he accidental elbowed the other teams chaser trying to get the quaffle. Sadly the player was one of the students and he felt terrible about it. He regretted doing it but there wasn’t much Jim could do and the girl was fine in the end. All that he could do was his best to make sure it didn’t happen again.

Jace was so excited to be playing Quidditch. Granted it wasn't the same as Quodpot, but the game was still pretty fun and he did well as a chaser. Once the game started, he was zipping around the pitch, trying to keep an eye on what was going on. It wasn't that hard at all. Then, he watched as one of the players from the other team elbowed one of his own teammates. She seemed fine, but the penalty shot was given to Jace. He grinned as he floated in front of the hoops. Once the whistle blew, he started forward, quaffle tucked under his arm. When he got close, he pulled it out and feinted a shot to the left before going to the middle hoop. Goal! Grinning, Jace raised his hands in the air for a moment in celebration before he focused once more on the game. They were off to a good start. Had to keep it going.
@finn you're next!

Ah, a pickup Quidditch match. Just what the Healer ordered, or at least that’s what Kai told himself as he zoomed around the pitch on his broom. The sharp breeze of the end of summer filled his nose and ruffled his practice Quidditch robes as he sharply veered away from his Keeper’s goalposts, bat in hand. He looked left and right for the Bludgers; even though this was not a real match he’d still protect the Chasers and Keeper at all costs. That was what he was known for after all, and if he didn’t do it at all times, it could damage his reputation, and he just couldn’t have that. Just then, he spotted a Bludger zigzagging towards one of the chasers on his team. “Oh no you don’t,” he said with a wide grin. He leaned forward and shot towards the Bludger, left arm raised up with his bat in hand. He swept the bat in a wide arc, shooting the Bludger towards the Chaser who had just scored for the other team. “Gotcha,” he said, doing a loop around before heading back towards the one with the Quaffle. Only ten points behind - this would be easy to come back from.

Daniel was always glad to be playing a game, no matter who it was against. It was a bit strange being in the Keepers position, though. But at least he was out there, and that was the most important. He tried to stay focused, even though it was hard in this position where he was just watching and waiting for a chance to act. Finally, the opposing team started to head toward him and he prepared himself, zeroing in on the Chasers. They reached him, the Quaffle was thrown and Dan zoomed toward it, barely catching it with one hand and having to balance it with both in a split second as to not drop it. He prepped himself and then tossed it back in toward one of his team, grinning. Okay, okay. Keeper wasn't that bad.

Zita couldn't tell if the block by the keeper on the other team was easy or if her team was just playing really badly. He made it look easy but she knew she could do it too. Sitting on her broom and floating easy in between the shorter and taller of the goalposts, she was waiting for the opposing team's chaser to head their way in an attempt to score. She would be ready for them and her head was completely in the game now. It was still too early to tell which way the match was going to go but she wanted to assist in helping her team win. She felt good when she noticed that the the enemy team was making their way towards her. She gripped the end of her broom and readied herself. Her team was close behind them but she didn't think they'd be able to catch them before they made it down to where was. She held her breath and then the ball flew from the chaser's hand. The pass went a little wider than she was guessing they wanted it to because it went to the outside of the smaller goal, making it easier for her to get to it and stop them from scoring. The ball was gripped tight in her hands as she circled around the goal post. Good. Roxy was open for it. She threw the ball with just enough force for it to land into her friend's hand, a grin on her face. She'd be able to get a score for them. Tag; Savtaj Daniel MacMillan

The game was just beginning but it was already shaping up to be an interesting, or at least fun game. And sometimes, not often, but sometimes, whether or not his team was in the lead, it was fun to just be playing. Sav had been playing Quidditch for years, and no two games were the same, the surprise of the match was what made it worth playing. So far, his own team had made one score and attempted a few more, it was fast paced thus far, which Sav felt like was a key component to a good game. While watching the pitch, as he often did, Sav began to hear the buzz of the bludger coming up on him. He re-orientated himself in a position which would allow him to hit the ball when it got to him. Once it got to him, he swung his bat and sent the bludger, flying at a faster speed, towards Roxanne Weasley.

Clutching the Quaffle under one arm, Roxy heard the Bludger before it knocked her sideways. She dropped the Quaffle to grasp the broom, holding it tight to make sure she didn't fall off. And she didn't fall, but she was sent careening into the stands, and ouch that hurt. It took a moment to get her balance and her bearings back, but it wasn't hard to find the Beater who’d caused her disarray. ”Damnit Sav,” she muttered, but her heart wasn't in it - it had been a good hit fair and square, and she'd have been delighted if she hadn't been on the receiving end. kaylee māhealani mahi'ai

Still beginning to get the hang of Quidditch as opposed to Quodpot, Kaylee was keeping her fingers crossed that her team would do well enough. For what it was worth, she had some good players on her team with her—people who actually knew what they were doing up there.
So far, she hadn’t done horribly, herself. Sure, she hadn’t had the Quaffle since the start of the match, but she hadn’t been knocked off of her broomstick when one of the other team’s players had committed a foul against her, elbowing her to try to get the Quaffle that had been in her possession. (He didn’t seem too aggressive about it, fortunately, so Kaylee considered herself lucky on that front, too.)
The gameplay continued, and Kaylee kept watch for the Quaffle. She was holding her own—in her opinion—and then she found herself in the prime position.
As painful as it looked for the Weasley girl when Sav’s Bludger knocked her in the direction of the stands below, she had been forced to drop the Quaffle in order to keep her grip on her broomstick—which left it to drop right in Kaylee’s direction.
“I’ve got it!” she called, swooping and snatching it up. Maybe, just maybe, she could actually score with it!

Cho was a much more experienced Quidditch player than many on the scrimmage field today. But that didn't mean everyone didn't play well, or that she played perfectly. In fact, she could feel from the moment she got on her broomstick things would be a bit... off.
The game was fast paced, and Cho found the quaffle dropping into her hands from an opposing player. She wasn't sure how the girl had missed it, watching the quaffle much more closely. Quaffle tucked under her arm, Cho raced towards the goal posts, darting and ducking bludgers and other players before passing the quaffle to another one of her teammates, praying that another player wouldn't intercept it.
