my dearest @peytonbainbridge , I’ve spent the last few days really grinding out pages. I attached a few behind this. They aren’t the greatest, obviously first drafts. Let me know what you think.
Mum and dad were worried for the first couple of days because I had locked myself in my room and didn’t come out at all. If it weren’t for the sound of typing, I’m sure they would have thought I was packing my things up like Diana did. Not having a job probably worries them more, but whatever. If it doesn’t work out I’ll get something part-time. That wouldn’t kill me.
Well I don’t know. Kinsey has whatever her thing is, so who’s to say love doesn’t strike you this year too? You never know when it comes to that. One second everything is normal, and then BAM! Yeah…
love,
Cara

[googlefont="Alex Brush:400"] Sorry it's taken me two weeks to return your owl, with school and stuff I wanted to wait until I was able to actually sit down and read what you have. And I have to admit, I quite enjoyed it. I'm not the best in the writing department, but I did notice some grammatical errors and was a little confused at the end, but I know you said it was simply a draft so my questions may be answered more later in your story.
Speaking of Diana....has there been any word on her? Has she come home? I have to be honest and say that I haven't worried about her as much as I probably should, mostly because she and I weren't close and I've been so busy with my studies. If you get something part-time, you should look at Hogsmeade; I saw a few wanted help signs in some windows, next time we go I can see which places and let you know...if you want?
Maybe...I do have a crush and I think he feels the same way, but you know me and being bad at really reading people -- could be just seeing what I want to see.

my dearest @peytonbainbridge , Good! Your studies are more important than letters to me (not that I don’t appreciate getting them!).
And yes, I know about the part at the end. I was excited to get a comprehensive part finished for you and rushed it. When I went back to read it over after I mailed it out, I realized that it didn’t make any sense at all. I’ll make sure you only have the best in the future!
Nothing from Diana here either. At this point, I don’t know what to think. You know how she is…she should show up eventually. I’m sure she found something interesting to study and got attached to it, that’s all. Which is what I should be doing with my own work but it’s so hard to concentrate sometimes and get it done. If I don’t have the majority of the book written by the start of next term, I’ll look into a part-time.
Mum yelled up to me to make sure I was okay, because I screamed “WHAT” when I read that. Who is he? What house? You can’t leave me hanging now Peyton.
love,
Cara

[googlefont="Alex Brush:400"] I look forward to getting more of your draft then! As for getting a majority of your book done before next term, I can try to help you! Perhaps over Christmas, I can give a read on some more of your draft and give you some ideas and insight? I’m sure you’ll be able to get a good chunk done with a little bit of help.
Oops! His name is Daniel, he’s a Gryffindor that transferred from Ilvermorny before the others did, and he’s a seventh year. He’s really sweet, and we had fun during the matchmaking thingy, I saw him again during the start of term, and he carried my books. He’s a bit of a flirt though and likes to tease, so sometimes I get embarrassed because I’m horrible with the whole realizing it’s just a joke or if it’s real.

my dearest @peytonbainbridge , Christmas is a good deadline for that. I have already told myself that if I don’t have a large portion of it completed, or am not working on it frequently, then I need to get a part-time job so that I can have some sort of income. Seven months is a long time to be living alone with mum and dad, and I can practically feel them breathing down my neck now. They want me to write something great as much as I do, but they’re being a lot more pragmatic than I am when it comes down to it. I’m not worried right now though. I have two months still and it’s coming along smoothly so far.
Not sure if I ever met him. New last year? I know there were those other Americans in Hufflepuff already. What are their names again? Pretty sure they’ve been at Hogwarts the whole time or whatever.
Anyways, him being a Gryffindor is enough to worry me a little. I know Dustin was as well, but a lot of them are there just for the fun of it. I’m sure I’m worrying too much about it, but be smart about it. I hate saying it, but ask Kinsey for help if you can’t get a hold of me first, okay? She might know a little more about him anyways, since they’re in the same year and all that.
love,
Cara

[googlefont="Alex Brush:400"] Christmas is a good deadline to have. I’m sure you’ll write something amazing and when the holiday comes around and I’m back home, I’d love to read whatever you have! But that’s understandable, mum and dad have always wanted us to do whatever our heart lead us too, so I’m sure they're trying to give you space. Maybe they’re just worried? I’m not sure though!
Yes, he mentioned coming over when I was a fifth year, I feel terrible for him…having to transfer with only two years left. As for the other American’s you speak of, I think I know who you are talking about but their name isn’t coming to mind. So many new people that are from America, their names sort of blend together unless I’ve befriended them and talk to them constantly.
You go it! I’ll keep you up to date, I haven’t seen much of him lately but that’s probably because of him being a seventh year!

my dearest @peytonbainbridge , Mum and dad worried? Maybe. I think they need to be more worried about Diana. Still no word from her yet on our end. Has she reached out to any of you yet? This has gone long past ‘letting her heart lead her to what she wants to do’, as you put it. Don’t think I need to go on about missing the connection to her. You understand that.
It happens, unfortunately. We can’t all have our cake and eat it too. Moving is an inevitable part of life, just as graduating from school and getting a real job is.
And you’re a sixth year, so I won’t bother you much over the next two months. I know it’s still the first term, but that will be the more difficult part of your final exams. This year is good practice for what to expect next year.
See you at Christmas then?
love,
Cara

[googlefont="Alex Brush:400"] That is true, they do have a lot on their plate with everything going on and some of their children disappearing. I haven't heard from Diana myself, but I can ask the others if they have. You were always the closest to her, I think, so I feel like you'd be the first she'd reach out to over any of us.
This is all very true. I'll understand the whole moving on, graduating and having to stand on my own two feet soon enough.
And yes, you will totally see me for Christmas! I can't wait to be home and to lay in my own bed--not that Hogwarts beds suck or anything.
