VOLUNTEERING TO CLEAR UP THE GREAT HALL post-Halloween shenanigans was not Eli's ideal pastime, but he thought it couldn't be too bad if Brigh was there to keep him company. She'd quickly become a friend of his, though he was no stranger to friendship. He'd met Brigh under extraordinary circumstances, and Eli thought maybe that brought people together in the end. Plus, she was pretty fun. And maybe wilder than him, too.
With a garbage bag in one hand, Eli was supposed to use his wand to levitate the rubbish in to it, but he'd forgotten his. He'd used it as a bookmark in his magical creatures book, and he'd left that in his room. This left him to use his hands, the no-maj way. He hummed as he worked, alone for the first little while. Brigh was late, but he didn't mind so much. The place was such a mess there'd be plenty left for her enjoyment.
And, just as he predicted, as he bent to retrieve a piece of garbage from under one of benches, the doors slammed open. Straightened, Eli wiped sweat from his forehead, a grin stretching over his face. "Fancy seeing you here, huh?" Eli called across the great expanse of the room. "Picking up trash with us peasants."
BRÍGH ENNIS O'DALAIGH i went ahead and tagged you in this mini thing in the meantime! hope you don't mind!

Brígh was still a bit amused by the fact that she had actually volunteered to pick up rubbish. She hadn't really wanted to but Eli had convinced her that it would help build character and make her into a better person. To her, it sounded like a form of punishment to be doled out in the form of detention. And she hadn't even earned one of those yet this year, so she figured it was probably not best to start doing this sort of work and give the professors any sort of ideas.
The heavy golden doors slammed as she opened them. Brígh was the sort of person who liked to make an entrance. Eli's dark head poked up from beneath one of the benches, his forehead shining with sweat. She cocked her head, confused. "What you down there for?" asked Bri. She flicked her wand at a piece of trash and it whizzed into the bin bag Eli was holding. "Hang on," she said, walking closer to him. Upon quick inspection, she found that there was no wand in his hand. "Eli, where is your wand?"

STILL SAT ON HIS HAUNCHES, ELI WATCHED Brigh levitate a piece of trash from the ground and in to his waiting trash back. A knot formed in his gut, his smile dulling slightly as he realised that of course he looked like an idiot. Sat on the floor, reaching for garbage tucked under chairs like a no-maj. He stuck out like a sore thumb. But, it was just Brigh, right?
"Oh... uh," Eli fumbled, reaching up to scratch at the back of his head, his hair was getting a bit long. "I was just picking up some trash, that's what we're here for... duh?" He snorted a half-laugh and ambled back to his feet clumsily, almost tripping over his trash bag as he did. He purposefully avoided the question about his wand, dragging the bag behind him as he gathered up two paper cups and the stock of a whole pumpkin. But, there was no avoiding Brigh's laser-stare for long.
"I... left it in my room, okay?" He spluttered reluctantly, avoiding Brigh as he rounded one long table and picked up an abandoned Slytherin tie. "At least, I think I did." He mumbled, passing her on his way back around the table, carried by long strides, his head bent low. "I... think I left it in my Magical Creatures textbook?" He stopped just shy of where Brigh stood, a repentant look on his face. Finally, he managed to look at her face, a little red in the ears and cheeks. "That's... bad isn't it?" His face screwed up and he dropped his back to scrub at his face with a wheezy laugh. "I'm a... horrible wizard."

Brígh giggled. Eli did look a bit idiotic down on his hands and knees, picking up rubbish like a common muggle. There was nothing wrong with that of course, except that the task would be sped up exponentially by using magic. She flicked her wand and levitated the rubbish into his awaiting bin bag. Eli stumbled to his feet and ambled over to pick up some more cups, with Brígh staring at him all the while. He was avoiding her question. Had it broken? Had he lost it? Did they have to take a trip to Ollivander's for a new one? Could Eli go places unsupervised? These questions whirled around in her head at Eli's silence. But finally, he answered.
Letting out a snort of laughter, Brígh appraised Eli with disbelief. "Does that happen often?" she asked. If she forgot her wand, Brígh felt like a piece of her was missing. It was mostly an extension of her magical self. But at the repentant look on Eli's face, Brígh felt a twinge of guilt. "You're absolutely not a horrible wizard, just a bit... forgetful," she added after a moment. She thought for a moment, then tucked away her wand. "Now we're stuck here together forever," said Brígh.
"What did you think of this past Hogsmeade weekend?" asked Brígh conversationally, picking up a clump of napkins with a questionable smell and tossing it into Eli's awaiting bin bag. She wrinkled her nose and looked around the room. At least she had good company.

ELI TRIED TO MAINTAIN A LOOK OF SERIOUS AS Brigh laughed at him, unabashed. She never was the type to hold back. "O-okay, chill out..." He stuttered, waving at her as if to make her stop. "I- sometimes I just... put it down." He shrugged his shoulders loosely, blowing out a noisy breath. He didn't feel as ashamed when it was just Brigh. She had a way of laughing at him that made him want to laugh with her. Like she wasn't being mean, which was nice. "I'll take forgetful." Eli muttered, rolling his eyes at himself as he bent down and retrieved an errant cup out of Brigh's sight.
"Forever... and ever and ever," Eli pretended to moan and groan, his head falling back on his neck as he let out a half-assed wail of despair. "Don't know how I'll survive." He muttered, lifting his head to grin at Brigh as he whipped his trash bag around and hung it over his shoulder lazily, it flapped loosely like a very cheap cape.
After a minute of Brigh levitating trash and Eli lifting it, Eli lifted his head when she spoke again. He'd been in the process of trying to kick a paper wrapper up from the ground with the toe of his shoe, tongue half out of his mouth in concentration. He shrugged with a smile, "It was great, really great," He began excitedly, his foot halfway in the air with the bag hanging off the end as he spoke. "Best candy in the entire UK, I think." Just the thought of the coconut ice fudge made his stomach cry out hungrily. "And the butterbeer was..." He hummed happily.
"What'd you do?" He asked after gushing for a full minute, feeling triumphant as he placed his piece of foot trash in to his bag. "I didn't see you after we got there." He'd walked in with Brigh and company, because who else could give him the low down on where to go and when. He'd headed straight for Honeyduke's, and she'd bee-lined for the student pub. She was gone by the time he'd worked his way around to it. "Did you run off with Steeeve." He sang, wiggling his brows at her as he picked up a cup and made kissing noises at it teasingly.
