[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] DECEMBER 2020 A young blonde girl was running through the little province of Quebec just as the sun went down and the moon rose, leaving behind a nice-looking house as she made her way towards another one not far from her own. Cameron Berg, a spirited thirteen-year-old, was going to visit her friends Nora and Steve at their house, the three of them usually hang out once she returned from school in the States. Ilvermorny was exciting for her, and of course, because her friends were homeschooled, she lived the experience for the three of them. When she finally made it to the house, her hand raised and knocked against the door, waiting with an impatient tap of her foot. She was excited, could you blame a girl for being impatient? Suddenly the door was opened by an older woman, and she beamed brightly at her, “Hi Mrs. Kolstad!” she started in an enthusiastic voice before continuing, “I’m here to see Steve and Nora!”The woman smiled and gave her own greeting, even though Cameron knew that the vampire had just woken up most likely, holding the door open for Cameron to enter before closing it behind her and directing her towards a bedroom. Cameron smiled, nodding her head and made her way towards it, opening the closed door and peaking inside. Steve was inside, and quickly with a smile as she pushed the door open, took a running jump and landed on the bed beside him. She laughed, “Hiya Stevie!” she exclaimed, loud enough that Nora could probably hear from her own bedroom and likely would come running, if she didn’t, she would drag Steve to his sister’s room.

@cameron & @nora December 2020 Before going to sleep earlier that morning, Steve had made sure to place a number of alarms so that he could wake up a solid hour before nightfall. While he was fine moving around in the sunlight, especially during the cloudy winter months, it was also kind of strange only seeing his mom when she was waking up, and himself going to sleep. All of his no-maj friends had been told that she was a nurse on the night shift at a hospital the next city over. Everyone bought it. Obviously the other magical families knew she was a vampire and that he and Nora were half ones themselves, but that didn’t seem to matter much in the tiny community. Everyone that was up here had their own reasons for there and they never questioned much past that. It allowed a vampire, and half-vampires, to be whom they needed to be. Personally he hated the small amount of blood drinking he had to do each month, but the side effects that accompanied not drinking it outweighed having to consume it.
So there he was, in his bedroom drifting in and out of sleep, the last alarm he had set had blared about thirty minutes earlier. He was currently trying to get a little more shut-eye before his mom forced him out of bed when he heard his bedroom door click open. The next step was the lights turning on, which was one of the reasons why he had his eyes closed tightly. Having his retinas burned out with fluorescents wasn’t as bad as staring directly into the sunlight, but it came close. Instead he felt his mattress surge as someone jumped onto the bed next to him, the exclamation revealing that it was Cameron. “I think it’s a sin for vampires to speak to angels, Ronnie,” Steve said as he flipped his head over on his pillow and opened his eyes, looking up at his friend. “But I’m not one to complain. What’s up?”

Dec. 2020 Nora sitting atop her bed, her favorite rifle deconstructed in front of her. She liked to do that thing cops did in movies where you timed how fast you could take your gun apart and put it back together, but she did it with rifles. She didn't have any hand guns at the moment, so this was what she had to work with. She had received her first rifle last year and had gained two more since then. What? Hunters gotta hunt, and she couldn't always use her teeth. She had just stopped the timer for taking the rifle apart when she heard a familiar and lovely voice from her brothers room. She jumped up in excitement, abandoning the pieces as she ran to her brothers room. She didn't even pause in the doorway, but also launched herself onto the bed as well, nearly crushing Steve's legs with her own as she launched over him, her back landing on Cameron. "My darling, hello!"@steve @cameron

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] Growing up in the type of family she did, with a strict and beautiful mother and a somewhat laid-back father, Cameron’s life was…difficult? She wasn’t exactly sure how to word it, but being around the vampiric family that was the Kolstads, she felt normal. Maybe it was the fact that she got out from under her mother’s thumb, attempting to make her prim and proper, and was able to truly be herself. She was an outcast, a misfit in the eyes of the wizarding world but Steve and Nora treated her like a normal person. The moment she had landed on his bed, he seemed to come to life from his previous slumbering state. She smirked, slapping his chest just as his eyes opened, “I am not an angel,” she said with a roll of her eyes. She opened her mouth to answer Steve’s question but was instantly shut up by the sound of running feet and seconds later, the feeling of someone landing on her back. She was pushed down into the bed, gasping in shock and for air from being hit slightly hard in the back by her friends own spine. “Nora!” she exclaimed, a laugh leaving her lips, “We were just talking about you – I promise it was all good things,” she said teasing the girl, but she was joking. Something that could easily be picked on by the grin on the girl’s lips that only Steve could see.

@cameron & @nora December 2020 “Sure you ar-” A loud oomph sound escaped from him as Cameron slapped his chest, effectively cutting him off from finishing his sentence. To make matters worse, a noise erupted from the hallway outside his room, what he could only assume were Nora’s feet thundering in their direction. He felt her before he saw her, just as he had with Cameron. This time it was his legs that took the impact, as Nora landed on both him and Cameron. A second groan came from him. What had he done in his past lives to be abused like this while trying to relax? The frustration didn’t last long, as Steve relented to the laughter that was quickly bubbling in his chest. It was hard to stay angry around these two.
“That doesn’t sound realistic though Ronnie,” he warned with a sarcastic hiss. It would be easier to gang up on Cameron that way, if he could swing his sister onto his side. “It looks like you love me more, too. Since you came into my room first.” Steve made sure to stare up at Cameron as he spoke, daring her to come up with an excuse for that one. He knew it was because his room was closer to the front door, and that Nora was easier to entice out of her own room when action and excitement was elsewhere. “Could you get your stupid legs off of me, Nor?” he asked, attempting to lift his head up so that he could see his sister, who still seemed to be pinning both him and Cameron in place. He was unfortunately not strong enough to move two people off of the bed at the same time, and if he let Nora have her way, she would keep him in place for the rest of the day just because it was funny.

Nor wiggled her eyebrows toward Cameron, trying to adjust herself to get cozy. "Alas, I don't believe that for a second," she said, in reference to them 'only saying good things' about her. "First of all, where would you even hear good things about me to talk about? And second of all, I know Steve's been plotting my friends against me," he said, lifting a finger toward Steve in an attempt to flick his ear. He suggested that Cameron loved him more and Nora gasped, "see!?" she exclaimed. Steve asked her to get her legs off of him and she pursed her lips, "hmmm, I'm not sure. I think that they need to be elevated. Feeling a bit sore from running all day," she said, making up an excused to heave out a breath of air and flatten herself even more on top of the two. "I think I shall die here," she said dramatically, going full 'corpse mode' on them and relaxing all of her muscles. @steve @cameron

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] The entrance of Nora Kolstad had resulted in the private conversation between Steve and herself to be cut short, but she knew what he would have said – he didn’t agree with her statement about not being an angel. And she knew that an argument would have likely had started between them, of course, the teasing kind. Cameron rolled her eyes at Steve, and laughed at Nora not believing that they were saying any good things – “Gosh—you guys don’t watch movies, do you? I was quoting Frozen; it was a joke,” she said with a soft laugh. A laugh that died in her throat as Steve said that she loved him more, resulting in both females to gasp, though Nora to pine it on the brunette male trying to turn friends against her. “You are dreaming Stevie, I love Nora more – I just use you to get her out of her room,” she said with sticking out of her tongue. Of course, she loved the both of them equally, but she wasn’t about to tell them both that. The two siblings bickered about Nora’s weight being on the other, and Cameron just thought about how glad she was to be home. Sometimes she wished both siblings attended Ilvermorny with her, but sadly, she doubted that would happen. Once she graduated, they would be reunited more than they were now. She let out a laugh, “Okay Wednesday Adams…bit dramatic, are we?” she questioned with a roll of her amused eyes, watching as her dear friend went into corpse mode upon Steve. She turned her attention to the only male in the room, “And don’t think I am going to help you move her,” she said, pointing a perfectly manicured nail towards the ‘dead’ Nora.

@cameron & @nora December 2020 “What’s a movie?” Steve asked, trying not to laugh at his stupid question. Obviously they watched movies, but not all of the no-maj ones. “Do you know what a movie thing is Nora?” he looked down at his sister, who had decided to drop dead on him. He was basically pinned in on his own bed now but they wouldn’t be impossible to move. There were always ways to get them to jump off his bed in an instant. “And yeah, totally out to get you Nor. I want to ruin any chance of anyone ever wanting to date you, and I’m going to steal any girl friends you have for myself. It’s my greatest scheme yet.” It was funny because their friends, at least in the magical sense, tended to be the same. So was he stealing Cameron from her, or was Cameron using him as bait like she was saying? Trying to reason with something that ridiculous made his head hurt, especially after waking up.
With Cameron refusing to assist him in the body disposal, Steve sat up as much as he could in order to look over the situation he was in. “Well, she was halfway there already,” he shrugged, looking at Cameron as he did so. “I guess the new gun I got her for Christmas goes to you now Ronnie, since you loved her more and all that.” He hadn’t actually gotten her a new gun (or had he?), but the response would probably still be the same. Nora adored her weapons, and dangling something so precious in front of her was like placing freshly pumped blood near a starving vampire. They were both going to lunge and bite as hard as possible, and maybe even a little harder in Nora’s case.

Cameron said she was quoting 'Frozen' and Steve asked what a movie was. Nora scoffed, then shrugged, "I have heard of these moving pictures, my brother... And, of course I watched that one," she said. "There's a cute little reindeer," granted, Nora generally shot deer... Steve said that it was his scheme to steal any girl friends Nora had and she gasped again, "are you hearing this Cameron!? He admits it!"Cameron said that she loved Nora more and only used Steve to get her out of her bedroom and Nora raised a fist in the air triumphantly, "I'd like to take a moment to mark this occasion as the day Steve Nigel Kolstad was put in his place, bested - a final blow - by his beautiful sister, Nora. The world shall forever remember this day as the day all was righted, wrongs were dispelled, and order was restored to the galaxy," she gave a firm nod and slowly returned her hand into place. "Alas, Cam Cam, I love you more than I love Steve, too," she said, cranking her neck to look at her friend to wink. Then Cameron called her 'Wednesday Addams' and it took Nora a second to recall who that was. "Drama is my middle name," she replied. Cameron refused to help Steve lift Nora off and Nora just grinned, remaining 'boneless' on top of them. Steve shifted to sit up and she narrowed her eyes, but didn't move a muscle otherwise. Steve knew just how to get her, though, talking about a gun for Christmas. Nora immediately shot up, standing and then flipping around to face the bed, placing both her hands on it, leaning toward him, "what kind!?" Yup, she fell for it. @steve @cameron

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] Cammie rolled her eyes at her friend’s stupid question but didn’t answer as the two conversed on movies, ending with Nora mentioning a cute reindeer. Cameron laughed and nodded, “Yes—Sven!” she said amusedly, revealing the name of the character Nora enjoyed. She almost wanted to start singing the song about reindeer and how they were better than people, mostly to annoy Steve with her offensive singing skills, but he was already speaking. Cameron laughed at the words Steve said, and Nora’s gasping at what was admitted by her brother. She shook her head, grasping Nora’s arm tightly but not too tight, “Don’t worry Nora—he’ll never steal my love from you,” she said jokingly, but her voice sounded dramatic. A soft laugh left the lips of the blonde at Nora’s declaration and wink, another one happening minutes later when Nora started that drama was her middle name. And then came Steve’s words of giving her the gun that he had supposedly bought for Nora, but before Cammie could even get a word in, the bed shifted, a body moved, and she was demanding to know what kind of gun. Cammie covered her lips, laughing because she understood what had just transpired – Steve had gotten his wish and Nora hadn’t even realized it yet. “Oh good one Stevie.” she said through a loud crackle of laughter.

@cameron & @nora December 2020 Steve watched the interaction between his sister and Cameron – something about a reindeer named Sven. He was pretty sure he had slept through that one. It had been the middle of the day after all, and lately he was getting used to being awake at night. Moonlight was easier on the skin and eyes. “Reindeer? I could really go for some venison right about now…” he trailed off with a lick of his lips. He really could, and Nora would be the prime subject for hunting a deer down. Reindeer was gamier than the average deer or elk but it was all the same once it was in his stomach. Waking up and thinking about food was awful too, because now he wanted some.
“When’d you change it? Thought it was Scarlett,” he squeaked in, though he had been barely listening to the mushy back and forth about the two girls loving each other more than they loved him (which was silly because he knew they both liked him more than that and ganging up on him was all they could do considering it was him they were talking about). Steve was waiting for the moment his legs would be free from his sister’s deadweight, and he didn’t have to wait long as she bounced off of him as quickly as she had onto him only minutes earlier. “It’s called a Fake-K-47,” Steve said smugly, his pun for the weapon’s name tickling his insides more than he thought it would. “Really Nor, I don’t have the cash to get you a gun. Wish I could, but I can’t,” he shrugged, tossing a wink at Cameron as he did so.

Cam gave them the name of the reindeer, Sven, and Nora nodded and tapped the tip of her own nose, "yes, yes. I remember. Norwegian or something," she noted. Steve said he could go for some venison right now and Nora grinned, "we should go and get some this weekend anyway, it's been too long since I've been out," she said dramatically again. She had indeed been out plenty, especially on the weekends. Cam took her arm and said that Steve would never steal her love, and Nora looked at her with big, wide eyes, "thank you, my dearest. I don't deserve such a brother," she said, using her best skills of pretend to make her eyes glisten as if with tears. Nora heard Steves little quip about her middle name being 'Scarlett' but she didn't think that warranted a response. Other than a short lived glare. When she asked about the gun, he said the 'Fake-K-47' and her eyes narrowed drastically. Cameron complimented his teasing with a loud laugh and Nora planted her feet on the ground, tossing her nose up in the air away from the two of them. "Let's see you two eat delicious venison ever again without my help," she threatened. @steve @cameron

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] “Ya know, wish I could go hunting down a reindeer or even a deer with you all…but this weekend is some dinner thing my mom wants us all to attend. You know her—gotta show off her ‘beautiful’ daughter to the most eligible of old people,” she said with a shiver down her spine, changing her voice to mock her mother when she said ‘beautiful.’ It wasn’t that bad, besides the fact that Mrs. Berg always wanted to dress Cameron herself and make her look like the shining star above the rest. Probably wanted to get her with some of the guys her age that came to the stupid party thing. She’d instead be hunting with her friends, but that was just her – her mother always had a cow when she came home with some blood on her clothes, but that was what made it the best experience. Cameron laughed at the witty banter that happened between the two siblings, at least, until Nora mentioned not getting any delicious venison again without her help. She gasped, “Hey—hey now, I wasn’t part of this fake out…” she said, pouting at Nora before looking at Steve “You better get her a fucking gun—a good one—I will not be cheated out of some venison because you had to tease…”

@cameron & @nora December 2020 All three of them seemed to be in agreement that going deer hunting sounded like a great idea, the caveat being that Cameron already had plans for the weekend. That wouldn’t necessarily stop the Kolstads from going, though it would be sad to not have their friend with them for the hunt. Steve more or less let his sister do the majority of the hunting. She had better senses for it and her shooting skills were impeccable. His hair typically got in the way too much for him to make an accurate shot.
Cameron’s family dinner sounded atrocious though, and he grimaced at the idea of being ‘eligible’ for old people. Old didn’t register in his brain correctly; he and Nora would stay more youthful, longer and their mother would be forever thirty, the age she was when she was turned. As for his old man? Well he already looked ancient with his bushy beard and weathered face, something years back home in Norway had done to him. “No offence Cam, but that sounds miserable.” Steve felt like he had to say that (at least before Nora did). “Just get lost in the woods that day and happen to find your way here hours later, that way you accidentally miss it,” he offered with a smirk and another shrug. “Or we could elope. Whatever works best for you?”
Nora wasn’t having the joke about the gun and was now holding the promise of venison over both his and Cameron’s heads. “She has plenty of guns already to go hunting with,” Steve said defensively. “And maybe I did get her one. It might get returned though if she keeps being mean to me…” Reversing the threat would get him back in his twin’s good graces.

Cameron said this weekend she had another one her debutante type deals and Nora roled her eyes, "I mean, you're definitely worth showing off but come ooonn," she argued. Camerons mother was, Nora wasn't afraid to think it, bonkers. She didn't think it was a good idea to subject young women to marriage prospectss that young. Maybe ever, actually. Marriage was something that was entirely sacred in their family and wasn't to be taken lightly. Hence why Nora wanted no part of it, she preferred to take veverything as lightly as possible. Steve suggesed that it sounded miserable and that Cam should get lose in the woods and find her way to their house hours later and 'accidentally' miss it. He also suggested eloping and nora sat up quickly. "Yes! I'll be the witness, then you'll be in our family for.ev.er," she joked along with them. She made it a point to do her best vampire transalvanian accent on that last word, bareing her teeth and leaning toward Cameron.
Cam threatened Steve, saying that he beter get her the gun now or else. He debated that Nora had plenty of guns and Nora scoffed, placing a hand over her heart. Then he said maybe he did get one but it may be returned if she was meant to him. She sighed dramatically, "alright, alright. Truce, we shall be kind to one another. For the holidays," she joked, "then things go back to normal. And I guess I doooo have a lot of guns already..." she nodded toward her glass case on the wall where two of them were mounted. Those were antiques, though, and she didn't hunt with them anymore.
