[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] EARLY SEPTEMBER 2024 Cameron was up bright and early that day, why? Because she had potions, and while it was not a subject that she enjoyed, it was at least one that she shared with Steve. Sadly, Nora had it a different time, but they had other classes they shared together. Quickly throwing on her robes and using her wand to fix her messy blonde locks, she watched in the mirror as the knots disappeared, giving her room to throw it up in a messy bun on the top of her head. Her mother would be disappointed, but what else was new? Her mother didn’t enjoy that she ignored her veela beauty and pretended like she was an average-joe, that was what she had Tammy for anyways. That girl embraced it like it was a new fur coat, not that Tammy owned them—at least, she had never seen one. Making her way out of the dorm rooms and onto the dreaded moving staircase, Cameron stopped by the Great Hall for some breakfast before meeting up with Steve at the top of the stairs. They usually met here and made their way to the dungeons together to head to potions. She came up behind him, putting her hands in front of his face and covering his eyes, bumping into him a little to move him forward blindly. She snickered to herself, “Guess who!!” she said in a sing-song voice that didn’t sound like her own.

@cameron 09.XX.2024 Mornings sucked. Like they sucked normally, but he had the added bonus of being half of a vampire. Not a full one; no that would be too much, even for Hogwarts. But half-vampires were allowed in the school, and as long as his blood consumption was watched over by the nurse, he was allowed to do as he pleased. Steve wasn’t sure if they had forgotten about his and Nora’s ability to allure people with their voices, or if they simply didn’t care. There were plenty of more dangerous students here, like any of the werewolves on a full moon, and keeping his libido in check was nothing close to wrestling with a pack of wolves once a month.
As with most morning potions classes, he was stationed in front of the entrance to the dungeons, desperately wishing he could be on the other side of the door right about now. It was a nice day outside – crystal blue, cloudless skies, and a piercing blob of sun stuck right in the middle of it. Over the last few minutes he had to retreat deeper and deeper into the shadows of the Great Hall in an attempt to avoid the beams of light coming through the front door of the castle. It would cause a nasty sunburn at best if it hit his skin, but being exposed for it too long this early in the morning and without proper nourishment was asking for a day of headaches and nausea. If only Cameron would hurry up and get here so they could head down into the classroom…
A pair of hands found their way around his eyes, clasped tightly on his face as he was nudged to walk forward. A rather optimistic voice challenged him to guess who it was. “Hmmm this is a tough one…” he hummed as he thought through who it could possibly be. The most obvious choice would be Cameron, he was waiting for her after all. Other than that, maybe some poor girl who was still caught in his trance? Those didn’t normally last more than a few hours and he hadn’t put any under in a few days. And Nora would have been rougher, and she definitely didn’t sound like that. “Definitely beautiful…yeah. And a blonde. That’s my guess.” A grin formed on his face as he waited to hear, or feel, the response from his mysterious girl.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] Vampires and Veelas, though entirely different species, were somewhat more alike than many people realized. While vampires could allure people with their voices, veela had a type of charm that practically did the same thing. Cameron didn’t care about her “charm” though, hiding behind a shell of baggy clothes and less beautiful imagery, but that didn’t stop people from staring at the beautiful blonde. Even though she refused makeup and "sexy" clothing, her hair even a mess of braids and waves, people still looked at her as if she were the last woman on earth. Her mother had explained everything, but sometimes it annoyed her. Tammy was always using her charm to her advantage, or so she believed, who actually knew if her sister did or not – not that she cared one bit. Tammy was her mother’s favorite anyways, so hiding beneath her sister’s shadow was best for the half-veela that didn’t give a damn about her genes. Steve hummed, pretending to be stumped by her question, causing her to bounce up and down like a fake school girl, letting out the most ridiculous giggle that she could muster and had to stop herself from laughing. And then Steve called her beautiful and blonde, and she quickly rolled her eyes, “Got a thing for blondes there, Stevie Wonder?” she questioned as her hands fell to her side and removed themselves from her dear friend’s eyes. He was a vampire, so it was likely his eyes would adjust pretty quick from the dim lit to the bright sunlight the streamed around them, but not on them. “Ready for class?” she questioned, pretending to be pumped when she wasn’t. While Cameron enjoyed having her two homeschooled friends with her in an actual school, it didn’t stop her from the boredom of going to class and doing homework.

@cameron 09.XX.2024 Cameron pretending to be a giggly, ditzy schoolgirl was going to be the highlight of his day – maybe even his week. She really shouldn’t have done that, because now Steve had ammunition to use against her. Instances like this had been saved for the summer months and holiday breaks, when she was back home with them. Now he had every day of the school year to crack jokes and poke fun at her, at her own expense. “Only one,” he crooned, the sudden reemergence of light on his eyes causing him to blink painfully a few times. He had assumed she was going to keep this up all the way to the classroom, directing him down into the dungeons and into his chair. The professor would probably think they were idiots, but at least they would be idiots together.
“Not really,” he yawned, hand covering his mouth as it extended for a couple, long seconds. This whole daytime class schedule was kind of bullshit. He thrived during his Astronomy class, which was funny considering everyone else was usually asleep during it. “I just finished the written portion of last week’s practical. Apparently copying off of Nora isn’t allowed here.” Steve desperately wanted to drag his feet on the way to class, only because it would give him more time to talk to Cameron and not be ‘shushed’ by a nosey classmate or grumpy professor. “How do you guys manage to do this for seven years straight? The classes are boring and they have you running to them all day with barely any breaks.” If he had known this was what school was like, he probably would have protested a bit more during the family meeting they held months ago about coming here.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE [attr="class","next"] ‘Only one,’ Those words would have made any schoolgirl blush, the very kind that Cameron had pretended to be moments ago, but not her. She wasn’t the type to blush at stuff; maybe it was just her personality. Instead, she elbowed him in the shoulder, knowing very well that she wouldn’t hurt his half-vampire skin. She let out a small laugh, shaking her head in amusement as tendrils of messy blonde hair escaped her high ponytail and got into her eye. As Steve revealed that he had finished the written portion of last week’s practical she eyed him for a second, learning that he had copied Nora’s work had made a huge laugh leave her lips, a small snort escaping as she shook her head. “You did not—oh come on,” she said, believing that he was only joking that he hadn’t realized that, but by the look on his face, he was serious. She let out another laugh, “Oh that is so good—I knew you were homeschooled—but I don’t think your parents or whoever was your teacher let you ‘cheat’ did they?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow. Where was this teacher when she wanted to copy other people’s homework or work? She shrugged her shoulders at his next question, “I didn’t. I started skipping class after a while. Use to hide in the woods near the grounds. I knew the best places to hide, though—I got in trouble a handful of times,” she said with a smirk on her face. She agreed with Steve though; school was fucking tedious.

@cameron 09.XX.2024 Steve gave her a bump back with his elbow, though much lighter than the one she had given him. Cameron was impervious to his comments it seemed, having built up a tolerance over the years. He always had a few decent chances to get to her at the beginning of her summer breaks, when she was back from Ilvermorny, but then it always went back to the same old Cameron. The one that didn’t get embarrassed by his comments or compliments.
“Of course I did,” he said. His admittance should have been enough, but he knew better than trying to be serious around her like that. She wasn’t used to it. “Mom didn’t really care as long as we were able to take the tests so that the government up there didn’t care. Homework wasn’t really a thing. Why not collaborate on it?” It made sense to him to do work that way. Testing knowledge should have been done practically anyways, and having students sit down and write out essays or fill in multiple choice answers? That only tested memorization skills. Remembering something and knowing how to actually do it were two completely different things. “And anyways, we would probably answer the same way. The professors are going to think we’re copying off of each other no matter what.” There should have been a sit down at the beginning of the term with the professors. Steve didn’t really understand that he was supposed to stay seated for the entirety of the class periods or that homework wasn’t optional. He figured that as long as he understood the topic, he was free to do what he wanted, just like he did at home. And the professors should have known it would take a little more instruction with him because he had never experienced a proper classroom setting before.
He stopped abruptly when she said that she used to skip classes. “You little rebel, you,” he smirked at her. “I hate that the woods here are ‘off limits’,” Steve added, using air-quotes for inflection. “Doesn’t mean I’ve stayed out of them, obviously, but the rules are crazy. We grew up in the woods. There were way more scary things out in those ones than there are here I bet.” He had heard the rumors of course. Werewolves, vampires, the occasional centaur, and even trolls. The latter seemed fake compared to the former, centaurs were actually pretty cool, the only scary vampire was his mom when she got mad at him and Nora for screwing around, and werewolves were only dangerous on full moons. The school simply didn’t want to take responsibility for students acting like idiots out there, making up fabrications of dark creatures to keep them away. Hell, the giant squid in the lake was more dangerous than anything he had heard existed in the forest. “Want to skip then? And go into the woods?”

Mom didn’t really care as long as we were able to take the tests so that the government up there didn’t care. Homework wasn’t really a thing. Why not collaborate on it?’ Cameron let out a chuckle and shrugged her shoulders, “There is a difference between collaborating and copying homework…you know that right? They don’t care if you help each other, have to make it look different…and of course, have some different answers. It’s all about cheating the system,” she said with a nod of her head. There were a few times back at Ilvermorny that Cameron had did just that, had someone else do her homework or snatched it from the smart kid, put it in her own words and changed it to seem less smart. Always worked for her—seemed she would have to teach Steve that little trick. Cameron shrugged her shoulders, “That’s because teachers assume everyone is cheating until proven wrong,” she said with a click of her tongue. Cameron didn’t realize that Steve had stopped, at least, not until he called her a rebel and she turned towards him, seeing that he was stopped a few paces back from where she stood. She laughed, shrugging her shoulders, “Yeah—just because they are off limits, doesn’t mean we have to follow that rule…” she said with a wink. “Rules were made to be broken.”Cameron was used to breaking the rules, and getting in trouble eventually. Now that her parents were across the world and far away, did she care if they were contacted? She wondered what Tammy would do since Cammie was under her care at that moment. And then came the words that she couldn’t believe that she was hearing, and was glad that she was – ‘Want to skip then? And go into the woods?’ She smirked, “I thought you’d never ask…let’s go,” she said, grabbing his hand and heading in the direction of an exit.

@cameron 09.XX.2024 Unfortunately Steve did not know the difference between copying and collaborating until Cameron explained it to him. Even with how she broke each of them down, he still didn’t see how that made the end result different. He and Nora, separate from each other and doing their homework, were still going to answer questions or write the same way. That was simply who they were. There were plenty of other twins and multiples here at Hogwarts, and how the professors hadn’t learned they were like that yet was beyond him. Maybe this was more vampire than twin in the end. “So I guess I’ll be ‘collaborating’ with Nora from now on,” he corrected himself with air quotes. “That’s easy enough then. She can get all the answers and then I’ll make them better for myself.” Or vice-versa. He was still better at some subjects and she tended to pick up where he failed on others. Literally his other half to everything. “They can assume themselves right into my allurement. Or mom’s office with a discrimination against vampires charge,” he threatened to nobody in particular. Steve could care less what people thought of his kind, but it was still fun to put on airs to freak them out. A little threat about smelling the fear in their blood was one of his favorite things to do to that sort.
“Bingo!” he chimed in agreement as Cameron took his hand and started leading him away from the dungeons and towards the exit to outside. From his brief glance out there earlier in the day, it was fairly cloudy. If the sun did decide to peak out while they made their trip to and from the woods, he was going to have to suffer the burns – he had forgotten to pack his hat in his bag that morning. “You know, I think me and you would get a long really well. We should be friends,” he teased, bringing their held hands up to eye-level and grinning at her. “You’re going to make all these British girls jealous, Cameron. Not that I’m complaining.”

CARVE OUR NAMES INTO FIRE WITH EVERYTHING ON THE LINE WATCH THE WORLD IGNITE THIS IS A REVOLUTION
Cameron rolled her eyes, "I know―it's stupid and makes the work harder," she said truthfully to the expression on his face. The blonde laughed and nodded her head, "Exactly! Have to make it sound like yourself instead of someone else, I do it all the time. Though I sadly don't have a sister or brother to steal the answers from, gotta bribe a smarty pants. Or I did―Hogwarts doesn't have ones that are willing to share..." she breathed out with a wrinkled nose. Cameron gave him a look when he made his threat about his mom but didn't say anything about it, leaving it at the threat he had muttered.
'You know, I think me and you would get along well. We should be friends. You’re going to make all these British girls jealous, Cameron. Not that I’m complaining.' She let out a giggle and shook her head before turning to look at Steve. She twirled a strand of hair around her finger and put on a flirtatious smile, "Do you think so? I so want to make everyone jealous," she said in a fake high-pitched voice. @steve || <3

@cameron 09.XX.2024 Any work was harder than no work, and that was the biggest hurdle that Steve was having difficulty jumping over. Going from a semi-home-schooled environment to this and then expected to know literally everything from the last five years of learning was insane. They were only a few weeks into school and he was already contemplating running off into the woods right off of the grounds and disappearing until it was time to go home in December. He would be fine out there and could become the living embodiment of all the rumors that were floating around. Werewolves, vampires, dark creatures, etc. Those belonged in his neck of the woods anyways. “Aren’t you in the smart house?” Steve asked, trying to recall of that was the bird one or the snake one. They both had lots of pretentious personalities in them, which also somehow made the girls that much more attractive to him. Steve sighed, knowing that the fight to get close to those ones was going to be arduous but well worth it in the end. “I guess I could see them not being a lot of help though,” Steve added as he thought about it more. Smarty-pants were like that after all.
The valley-girl face Cameron put on whenever she was mocking the ‘other girls’ was one of Steve’s favorites. Being so far removed from normal society up in Canada, they all had time to perfect their craft. Not that he wanted to sound too overconfident, but having her hooked onto his side like this would only make him more interesting as the newer kid (in the realm of not being American like the rest were) and net him friends. Steve was confident in his own ability at making friends, but every little bit of help never hurt him. “I know I would be if I saw you hanging onto some other guy,” Steve teased as he pushed the door to the grounds open. Stepping outside was always a nice punch in the face for him, even with an overcast sky. Today was no different, despite it being more welcoming on his skin.

Cameron was an okay student when she went to class; she was usually one of the ones that attempted to skip a lot. And by a lot, that meant every other class. Because of this, she sometimes had to cheat, and she had people that let her or could be forced to. Other times, she did work hard. She was a studious person, or at least, she was before her brother's death, and her depression sank in. Then-she didn't care anymore.
'Aren't you in the smart house?' Cammie laughed a little, shaking her head, "Just because I got put in Ravenclaw which is known to be filled with academic people, doesn't mean that is all they are known for. They are supposedly known for their individuality, wit, wisdom, and some other things that I don't recall." She put her hands on her hips before continuing, "And I have to say I am filled to the brim with wit and wisdom, thank you very much," she said with a horribly executed wink, which had been done on purpose.
'I know I would be if I saw you hanging onto some other guy,' Cameron laughed, punching him on the shoulder, of course not hard enough to hurt, before rolling her eyes. "Well you don't have to worry about that, I only have eyes for you," she said, somewhat true and somewhat joking as she fluttered her eyelashes, continuing with her dramatic Valley-Girl persona.

@cameron 09.XX.2024 “Well you’re certainly an individual,” Steve teased, leaving her hanging with what he actually meant by that. He still didn’t fully understand what the reasoning was for placing all of the students into four separate houses. Apparently the American school did the same thing, though from what he had been told, they were allowed to choose. Regardless, the kids in Gryffindor with him were all pretty cool cats and he and Nora seemed to blend right in with all of them. He couldn’t have asked for anything better than that, aside from maybe having Cameron there with them all the time. In comparison before he and Nora were moved to London, this was leagues better than only having to see her during the summer and winter breaks. It used to be ‘accidentally’ missing curfews and sneaking out at night in order to mess around. Now they could skip classes whenever they felt like it just to hang out. The downside of having to do schoolwork for the first time in ever could barely graze at all of the positives that came out of going to Hogwarts.
She laughed at his comment about seeing her with another guy. It had been the lighthearted sort of dig at her but was also serious, in a manner of speaking. Her punch to his shoulder and follow up was expected from their normal back and forth banter. Some things never changed, which he liked to think was a good thing. “Oh yeah? That makes me feel like the luckiest guy in the world right now,” he gave her a playful punch in the shoulder in return. “Too bad it took me so long to decide to go to school. We could have been doing this for the last six years,” Steve lamented. “Think of all the awesome things we could have done. Think of how many compliments my hair would have gotten!”

'Well you're certainly an individual.' Those words caused a snort to leave the blonde's lips, shaking her head at her friends teasing manner. She was thrilled that their parents had allowed them to attend school - she was no longer alone in a new place. God, she wished that Ilvermorny had been filled with this fun.
Cameron rolled her eyes, "Yes, I agree. We could have, damn you for being homeschooled. Should have talked your mom into this sooner...all the trouble that was missed out on. Guess we have to catch up on that," she said to him, winking. Her eyes twinkled with mischief and delight. She started giggling, taking her hand and messing up his hair, "Oh yes...we'll just have to catch your hair up on all the compliments it has missed!"

▲ Steve liked to think that he could make anyone laugh if he put a little effort into it. Not to toot his own horn or anything, but he was flirty when he needed to be and knew how to push and pull on a conversation so that he could get it to where it was enjoyable for everyone. Maybe that was the vampire in him or the fact that he had to deal with endless banter whenever he was around Nora. She had molded him into a finely tuned conversationalist and he had taken it from there. But getting Cameron to laugh was a whole different thing. It meant more because of their friendship. Their history. To him, having her laugh or react to his silly words was more of a personal victory than with anyone else. Now he could win every day if he really felt like it. So they were both right by saying that it would have been better if he and Nora had been in school all along. It was silly that the Kolstad twins had never pushed their parents harder for this, because they thrived in such a social atmosphere. They both needed it, and the other students needed them too. At least to laugh every now and again. “We really should have,” Steve agreed. “But can’t really go back in time and redo it, so we’ll have to make do with the next two years, right?” Cameron stuck her hand into his hair and ruffled it, giggling at him. “Woah, easy there. You know how long it takes for me to get it to this state every morning?” A lot of hair products went into it. There was magic for it, of course, but Steve enjoyed the morning routine. It gave him a reason to get up early in the morning and make the most of his day. “I know you’re jealous of how beautiful it is, but it really doesn’t compare to you so you don’t have to do it dirty like that.”@cameron ● 340 ● The Horror Within by Shadow of Intent MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Even though the school year had only just started, she was beginning to enjoy it more now that Steve and Nora were here. It felt like they had always been together, even back at Ilvermorny. Even thinking that they had been apart during the school years, seemed like a distant memory - or a dream.
'We really should have. But can't go back in time and redo it, so we'll have to make do with the next two years, right?' Cammie smirked, looking at Steve and nodded, "Oh, of course. Look out Hogwarts; the Golden Trio is here!" she yelled out, knowing that no one would hear her.
However, when she turned to look at him, ruffling his hair - his reaction was priceless. "Yes, Steve, I do. I practically live at your house when I'm not at school. I know how long I have to wait to use the restroom in the morning..." It was true. There was one time when she and Nora banged on the door to get Steve out, and it took an hour before he did. Threats, yells, Nora even threatened to blow the door down with one of her guns. It was one glorious morning. Mama Kolstad was not pleased when she woke up later in the day.
'I know you're jealous of how beautiful it is, but it doesn't compare to you, so you don't have to do it dirty like that.' Another laugh escaped the blonde as she shook her head, "Oh, your right. I'm sorry Steve's hair," she breathed out, patting the strands of hair on his head as if it were a puppy.
