He listened intently as she spoke. It was a crazy story, especially because she had no idea how it had happened. It just kind of happened. When she was done he shook his head in awe, silent for a moment as he tried to take it in. "Well... have you talked to anyone about it? Like the healers or whatever?" he asked. It seemed like that was the most logical course of action. Their stair stopped moving and he nodded toward the floor they were on, stepping off the steps and onto the landing. There was one of those large window sills against the wall not far off and he led the way to it, having a seat so that one of his knees was bent and lying on the bench while his other leg stayed down on the floor. "First my cousin Dan... now you. I wonder if everyone I know is going to burst into special powers or something. Maybe I have some sort of activation thing," he chuckled, "maybe that's my power."maxima ruqayyah greyback

Adrian listened as she rambled on about her healing ability, and then he shook his head after she was finished with her explanation. "Well… have you talked to anyone about it?" he asked her. "Like the Healers or whatever?"
"Er, I tried the nurses at first, but they're usually so busy that I don't really want to bother them." Max shrugged. "And then I thought about going to St. Mungo's a few months ago, to see if anyone there knew, but I didn't want them to think that I needed to be… locked up or something. But I would know if I were hallucinating, wouldn't I?" she questioned. "I mean, not in the moment, but…" Really, what she needed was to find someone who was a specialist in people who suddenly developed powers that they couldn't explain, and how many of those were there in the world? She had schoolwork and Knitting Club and Prefect duties; she didn't have time to run off from Hogwarts on some quest for someone who was probably a scammer operating out of some dodgy storefront in Knockturn Alley, anyhow.
Max followed Adrian off of the staircase that they had been on and onto the landing. She then followed him to a very large windowsill, where there was enough room for Adrian to recline. Max leaned up against the windowsill, herself, but wasn't going to get too comfortable. She was technically still on rounds.
"First my cousin Dan… now you," Adrian remarked. "I wonder if everyone I know is going to burst into special powers or something. Maybe I have some sort of activation thing, maybe that's my power."
It was kind of entertaining to think that Adrian was the one behind it, Max had to admit, and her lips quirked into a small smile. Somehow, she didn't think that was true, though there was something else that Adrian had said that caught her attention. "Dan?" Max asked. "Wasn't he at Hogwarts last year?" She could have sworn she remembered him, though she didn't think that she had ever really spoken with him—maybe once in passing or something, if at all. She remembered Elias's cousin, Maria, better, though she had always seemed as though she had something against the Greybacks.
"Can Dan heal people, too?" Max asked Adrian. She hoped that that was what Adrian meant, because maybe he knew something that she didn't.

She said she tried to talk to the nurses but she didn't want to bother them. He grimaced slightly at that. His sister should be able to talk to whoever she wanted to whether they had the time or not he thought. Adrian wasn't really one to look at the 'big picture' of things. He had his small world and he liked it, and in his world Max would get help wherever she wanted. Her concerns about being locked up made sense to him, though. He was a werewolf and had dealt with that sort of thing before. "I don't think they'd think you're hallucinating, Max," he countered. "They'd be fascinated by it," hopefully they wouldn't want to do experiments on her or anything... okay, maybe it made sense for her to keep her distance. "I suppose... researching on your own may be the best thing for now," he agreed. "But I mean, I'll help you. I don't think you need to be completely alone. We're a pack," he half joked, but he meant it. She asked about Dan and he realized what he'd set. His eyes widened slightly and he cleared his throat, "erhh.. yeah he was here for the tri-wizard thing. Not dealing, no. Sorry," that would have been nice for her to have someone to talk with. "He has his own special thing going on. A magic he hasn't found anyone else with... I suppose he'd be a good person to talk to. He even worked with his school counselor last year to work through it," he explained. "I could... put you in touch?" as if he needed Dan any more involved in his life. maxima ruqayyah greyback

Adrian reassured her that other people wouldn't think that she was hallucinating; they'd be fascinated by it. While it helped a little, Max was so accustomed to thinking of herself as a basket case that she couldn't imagine most people other than her relatives not thinking of her as having gone mad for asserting that she could heal people in ways for which she'd never received training.
Even so, Adrian added that he supposed her researching her condition on her own was probably the best course of action, but he said that he would help her. "I don't think you need to be completely alone. We're a pack."
Max wasn't sure how much of a joke Adrian had intended for the "pack" comment to be, but she found herself laughing at it a little. It was true, and she didn't mind the wolf analogy.
At her questioning him about his cousin Dan, though, Adrian became slightly hesitant all of a sudden. He answered her that Dan had been at Hogwarts for the Triwizard "thing", but he said that it wasn't healing that he could do. At that news, Max's face fell, at least until Adrian continued.
"He has his own special thing going on," he said. "A magic he hasn't found anyone else with… I suppose he'd be a good person to talk to. He even worked with his school counselor last year to work through it."
Max nodded as she listened, thinking if Madam Macmillan would have known anything about what was going on with her. She didn't seem like it, though, unfortunately.
"I could… put you in touch?"
"If… you don't mind," Max answered, not wanting to put Adrian in an uncomfortable position if he didn't want to be. "Even if it's not healing, he'd at least get the 'only person who can do this' bit, wouldn't he?" she supposed.

She laughed a little at the 'pack' comment, which was nice. As far as Dan went, she said she'd be interested in speaking with him if Adrian didn't mind. Adrian nodded at her words, "yes, exactly. I think he'd understand that. I mean, he's never really been that into talking about it so I'd have to gauge what he thinks... but he also says that he doesn't want anyone to go through what he did when he first got his ability," he shrugged. "He was fifteen, so not that far off from your experience," he noted. He gave one more firm nod, "I'll talk to him." He was close to Dan, but didn't like to admit that he was, actually. They both hadn't really gotten along that well as children but now things were a bit different and it would at least be interesting to see if he'd give Max any insight. "Where were you headed, anyway?" he added, changing the subject. maxima ruqayyah greyback(I can start a letter with Dan!)

"Yes, exactly," said Adrian of Dan. "I think he'd understand that. I mean, he's never really been that into talking about it so I'd have to gauge what he thinks…" he continued, "but he also says that he doesn't want anyone to go through what he did when he first got his ability."
Nodding, Max could agree with that. Even though she didn't know much about her own ability and felt awkward about it, she thought that she would probably want to help anyone else who was in the same position as she was. It was uncomfortable not knowing what was behind her suddenly being able to heal people with her hands, but she had at least had a few months with the ability. If somebody else came along and said that they were freaked out because they had just developed something that they—and the logic of most magic—couldn't explain, she would try to be supportive.
"He was fifteen, so not that far off from your experience."
Max didn't know if that was reassuring or a little bit weird. Dan had been fifteen when his ability had surfaced, too… She wasn't going to try to make any causations that she couldn't otherwise substantiate, but the fact that they had been the same age was something that she felt that she needed to keep in mind for her research into it.
"I'll talk to him," Adrian told her.
"Thanks." Although she didn't know how far communicating with Dan might get her, it was a start in some direction, maybe, though that was assuming that he was receptive to her questions. Max didn't plan on prying too far into his life, but she wanted to know what he knew about how he had ended up with his ability.
"Where were you headed, anyway?"
"Er…" Max hesitated, realizing that the other prefect with whom she had been partnered for rounds was probably wondering what in Merlin's name had happened to her, since she had only been a short distance behind them when she had run into Adrian. "I'm actually meant to be doing rounds right now," she admitted sheepishly, "so I should probably go…" Not that she wanted to cut their conversation short, but she did sort of have a job to do. "Have you seen any first-years with contraband?" she teased, though also trying to come up with an excuse for her tardiness.
@adrian OOC: Sounds good! You wanna end here, then?

He nodded, he'd talk to Dan. She seemed unsure, but it was always worth a shot. When Max answered what she had been up to, asking if he'd seen any first years with contraband he laughed, "if I had I wouldn't tell you!" he said with a laugh. If they were more of a physical family he would have ruffled her hair or something, it was that kind of moment. But alas, they weren't and so his tone of voice had to be enough. maxima ruqayyah greyback (the end )
