The gentle squeeze in return resulted with green eyes peering down at their joint hands, a smile crossing her lips as she looked up – locking her gaze with her best friend. ”I’m sure sunblock won’t do anything.” She giggled, her free hand lifting to cover her mouth as she laughed. It was habit for the Novell girl to do so, considering she always believed she had an under smile. ”Of course Kaylee.” She responded seriously. She had always wanted to travel with the small group of friends she had, so for Hawaii to even be taken into consideration, no was off the scales. Unless Aunt Adèle declined the idea of course.
Looking down at the eager and lonely pinky finger, Zen held back a snort – tears brimming her eyes as the action was something rather childish but memorable for the two of them. Amongst their selves and Ellie included, pinky swears were one of the important things that held their friendship together. ”Pinky swear.” She responded eagerly, joining their two fingers together, locking her own rather tightly against Kaylee’s. Being friends with the Slytherin was one thing the half-vampire would never trade anything for. Kaylee was always there for Zen, for the horrible times and even the best. And Zen would be forever grateful.

Zenevieva tried to tell her that she didn't think sunblock would do anything, but, in Kaylee's mind, it was still worth a shot. Anything that would make it feasible for Zen to hang out with her back at home for just a little while was worth it, she felt. "We'll figure something out, then. Like one of those full-coverage swimsuits or something," Kaylee thought. There had to be an answer somewhere, though she wasn't going to stress out over it; they had the whole school year to make a plan. "Seriously."
Kaylee knew that locking their pinkies to swear on something was probably a little young for them, but it hadn't failed them yet. She, Zen, and Ellie, had been pinky-swearing on things for their entire school careers.
"Pinky swear."
"Pinky swear!" Kaylee affirmed. "And you know you can't take back a pinky swear!" Some people had Unbreakable Vows, but losing a friend was definitely a fate worse than death.

ZENEVIEVA IN A swimsuit was one thing she couldn’t imagine herself in. It was a hilarious thought though, the struggle of putting the outfit on and even some clothes on top to cover up her skin from the harsh rays of the sunlight. Even then, the idea of a full-coverage swimsuit reminded her of those Scuba-diver styled wetsuits for the Muggles who took on that role of swimming and diving professionally. Shaking her head while her lips let out a gentle laugh, Zen nodded in agreement. ”Seriously.” She repeated. God, she wouldn’t replace her friendship with Kaylee for nothing, or for no one.
Pinky swears were one thing the Novell didn’t understand until she became friends with Kaylee and Ellie, and as soon as they were comfortable amongst one another, pinky-swears were the things they simply relied on. ”I know.” She responded. They weren’t as serious as an Unbreakable Vow, but the swears were built up from Promises and statements that couldn’t be changed, not that the half-vampire would break any.
In the time the two spent with one another, Zen was sure the bell went off in the midst of it all, especially once the class piled up with Sixth Year students, robes and ties of different colours but all in the class for one thing — to evidently learn something. The Novell concluded it would have been best to move to the front with Kaylee, but where the two sat was perfectly fine. Their conversation turned into hushed murmurs and the rest of their time together was spent in class, cherishing their moments together.
