Vik was in a good mood. He and Rai were getting ready for another job and he'd just finished surveying the place. Happily, there didn't seem to be any complications. At least, not any obvious ones like that coven of vampires he ran into the other week. Ugh. He shivered slightly at the memory of that. He'd literally had no idea what he was getting himself into until it was almost too late. Good for him, he was an animagus and could get out of situations like that at will.
So he thought he should come to the club again and relax. A while ago he came here and ran into a stunning girl and had a fun night dancing with her, though he'd never really been able to figure out who she was. He hadn't seen her since either, which was a bit of a disappointment. Still, he liked the environment here so Vik would probably keep coming back every so often.
He smiled when he saw a familiar person sitting at the bar and made his way over. "Hey, long time no see," he greeted with a sly smile as he sat down next to Finley. Of course, the long time was all his fault since he was the one who went and lived among muggles, but Fin didn't know that. At least, Vik didn't think he did.

Finley was back at the club, no surprise there. He had taken his normal spot at the bar with his usually glass of bourbon and his usual lack of company. Well, his new friends Trixie filled that void from time to time. She reminded him of better times, of places where friends could just be friends and things weren't so... frustrating. He was grateful to her that and was happy he had met her here. Someone moved up next to him and he wasn't planning on turning to look. But then he heard the voice and a smile broke out on his face, "well, well, well. If it isn't the prince of thieves," he joked, reaching his nearest arm up in order to clasp Viks shoulder and give it a short, but firm, shake. "How have you been? You seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth."@vik

Oh Finley. Vik could tell as he approached that the guy could sense him coming, but Fin gave no indication of that. Keeping to himself, as always. Vik smirked, proud of himself when his friend turned with an obviously smile. He grinned as Finley teased him, calling him the prince of thieves. His eyes glittered, “Oh, prince of thieves? I like that. Need to come up with a fitting nickname for you though, so you don’t feel left out,” he teased. Vik knew that his old friend likely couldn’t care less about being called some ridiculous name that Vik would come up with, but at the same time … it would be fun for Vik and he couldn’t resist the temptation to tease his old friend.
He shrugged as his friend asked how he’d been, grinning as he mentioned Vik vanishing. “I’m good as always, making my living the fun way.” Fin was one of the few people Vik didn’t hide from, he knew all about the previous Slytherin’s inclinations toward pick-pocketing, as evident by his greeting. “Thought I’d try my hand living among the muggles. They’re cheerful enough, but a bit to oblivious for my taste, you know?” Vik smirked, confident that Finley would know what he was talking about. “I need a bit of a challenge,” he looked around the club as if searching for someone, then laughed. He didn’t come here to steal from anyone. At least, not yet. "But how have you been doing?"

Vik said that he liked the nickname, stating that he needed to find one for Fin. Fin shook his head, "nah, there isn't really anything that stands out about me," he suggested, joking. "But if you do come up with something I'll be very impressed, even if it is embarrassing," he assured Vik. Really, Fin had no idea what kind of name he could give him. I mean, 'Vik' and 'Fin' were nicknames already, right? Not the same kind as 'Prince of thieves', though... Vik said he was good as always, making his living the fun way. Fin remembered how Vik liked to swipe stuff from people, of course, and that somehow he had turned that into a career. Fin chuckled lowly, shaking his head. Vik went on about living among the muggles and Fin perked up, "really?" he asked partway through, leaning in a little to listen. "Oblivious, that's true," Fin agreed. The poor muggles didn't know what happened in the real world. Vik said he needed a challenge, looking around, and Fin rolled his eyes. "Go for the big guy leaning against that wall," he suggested, nodding toward the guy in question. Vik asked how he'd been and Fin smiled softly, giving him a short nod of thanks for the question, "really great. I'm... uh... dating Jessavette Dupont now, actually," he admitted. @vik

Fin argued, saying that there wasn’t anything that stood out about him and Vik rolled his eyes. “Whatever, mate. Don’t sell yourself short.” His eyes narrowed as he looked at his friend. “Give me a bit, I’ll come up with something good.” Even if he couldn’t think of something today, Vik wasn’t going to forget this conversation. One of these days he’d take Fin by surprise with an awesome nickname. “Prepare yourself to be impressed then,” he retorted with a chuckle, “since that’s one of my specialties.” Merlin, he didn’t realize how much he missed interacting with his friends, with people like Fin until this moment. He needed to remember that for the next time he decided to drop off the face of the earth.
Vik laughed again as his friend seemed surprised by the fact that he lived among the muggles. “Oh yeah. You know, getting back to my roots,” he retorted smartly, shrugging a shoulder. Really, Vik didn’t consider being among the muggles as being home, but he did remember his time among other orphaned boys before the Podmores found him. It was interesting going back to those places and seeing how they changed over the years. He nodded when Fin suggested he go for a big guy who was against the wall, glancing over for a second. “Consider it done. By the time we leave tonight, I’ll get you a keepsake,” he smirked. Vik knew the big thing about being a thief was taking your time and doing it right. That way, people were less likely to notice. He’d probably pickpocket the guy right before leaving and spent a few seconds considering the best way to do it.
His friend confirmed that he was doing really well, saying that he was dating Jess Dupont and Vik’s eyes widened. “Seriously? She’s the girl from Hufflepuff, isn’t she?” Vik was fairly certain that she was. Fin had cared for a specific girl for the duration of his time at Hogwarts. He thumped Fin on the back. “Congratulations, Fin! How did that happen?” He wanted to get the whole story, if he could. It’d probably be at least a little bit interesting.

Vik told Fin not to sell himself short and Fin shook his head, "I wasn't! Just saying," he protested. Vik said that he would come up with something, speaking about how Fin should prepare to be impressed and Fin nodded, "I look forward to it." Really it was just nice to know that he still had a friend in Vik, even if he hadn't seen him for a while. Vik was one of those guys where you could pick up a friendship where it left off no matter how long it had been.
Vik said he had been getting back to his roots by living with the muggles and Fin understood. He did that sometimes, by visiting Dublin and all. Not that he'd ever move there again."And how was that?" Fin asked. When Fin challenged Vik to steal from the guy, Vik said to consider it done and that he'd have a keepsake for Fin. "I expect nothing less from you," he agreed with a small chuckle, "what can I give you in return?" he asked.
Vik's eyes widened at the mention of Jess, and Fin nodded when he questioned her house. "The Quidditch player, yeah," he confirmed. Fin wasn't expecting the thump on the back, but it didn't jolt him or anything. Vik congratulated him and asked how it happened. Fin shrugged, "I don't know. I just kind of... ran into her and went for it." He chuckled, "her grocery bag split open... so I helped her take it home," he added.

Vik merely nodded, not feeling like he needed to say anything else when Fin promised he wasn't selling himself short. He really did need to think up something good for his friend. He had the feeling that Fin stayed to the sidelines a little too often, that he let others make plans but didn't really join in. Vik wasn't quite sure, but he wanted to make sure that Fin felt needed and important. That was something all people needed, Vik had learned.
Fin asked how it was being with the muggles and Vik shrugged. "It was fine. I practiced things without magic for a while, but even then it's too easy for me. I'm looking for a challenge, but nothing really good has popped out in a while." That didn't mean that Vik wasn't finding work. He was doing plenty of jobs, he just wasn't finding much satisfaction in them, which he hated. He needed to find a way to have more fun with this. He loved it, after all. He smirked when Fin said he didn't expect anything else, but just shrugged. Then he laughed, "How about you just don't tell that gentleman about your gift," he teased. He didn't need anything in return, just wanted to have a good talk with his friend.
His friend wasn't even hesitant as he started to explain more about Jess. Vik hooted, proud of his friend for actually going for the girl. "The one you liked since you first saw her," Vik added, not as a question. He knew exactly who Fin was talking about now. He smirked when Fin said he ran into the girl and was about to tease him for his choice of wording, but Fin continued on before he could. "You helped her take it home and then ... made out with her?" he teased, then laughed. "No man, I'm happy for you. That's awesome! So I'm assuming you like her even more now than you used to, since you're still going out with her? Why do you like her so much?" Vik was seriously asking. He'd never really felt for someone the way he knew his friend felt for this girl. He had fun with women, certainly, but he never had one girl that really stood out to him. At least not yet. Vik was hoping that someday he might though.

Vik shrugged, saying the muggle world was fine and he practiced not using magic. Fin always thought that was a hard challenge for him, but apparently Vik could pull it off. Vik said he needed a challenge, though, and Fin furrowed his brow. "If I hear of anything interesting I'll let you know. Maybe try joining the circus?" he suggested, but laughed. He knew Vik was incredibly smart and could probably handle literally anything thrown his way. Maybe Vik could help Fin with his moral dilemma between Jess and Elaine... but there was no way he could share that information. With anyone. Sadly. Because Vik was very, very smart. Fin chuckled as Vik said not to tell the victim about the stealing of a gift, "deal. Secret's safe with me."Vik wooted and Fin grinned, feeling a little embarrassed by his happiness. Vik remembered how long Fin had loved Jess, and Fin nodded to confirm anyway. Vik asked if Fin made out with her and Fin laughed, shaking his head. Vik said he was happy for him, assuming Fin liked her more than ever - and asking why he liked her so much. "I like her more every day," 'like' seemed like such a small word in reference to his girlfriend. "And... I dunno, because she's smart, beautiful and always knows what to say? That's a hard question to pinpoint the answer too," he admitted. @vik

Vik was a little surprised when Fin said that he'd let him know of anything interesting. Then he mentioned the circus and Vik rolled his eyes, though he couldn't help the smile that crept onto his expression. "Yeah yeah, you're so funny O'Niell," he retorted. He knew that Fin was likely teasing, but he didn't need temptations like that. A circus could be a good place for thievery, a nice challenge, but he wasn't sure that was what Fin was suggesting. He nodded firmly when Fin said that his secret was safe. "It had better be, or no gift for you," Vik answered, wagging a finger at his friend.
He could tell that Fin was embarrassed about his excitement, but honestly this was something to be celebrated. Fin had cared for that girl all throughout school and now he actually had her! Well, he was dating her, but that was close enough, wasn't it. He chuckled when Fin shook his head at Vik's teasing question, smiling as he talked about the girl. "That's cool man. I'm happy for you." He chortled, "If I knew anyone good, I'd say we should do a double date sometime." Vik narrowed his eyes as he thought. "Or the two of you could set me up with someone," he suggested. Part of Vik was teasing, but at the same time he wasn't. He was interested to see Fin and Jess together.

Fin shrugged, "I think I'm pretty funny. Maybe I should join the circus with you," he suggested with a wicked smirk.Fin held up his hands in surrender when Vik told him he better keep the secret of the gift or he wouldn't get one. "Hey, hey. I wouldn't betray you, man. Unless you betrayed me first, of course," he suggested with a raise of his eyebrow, faux suspicion dancing in his eyes. Vik said that he was happy for him and Fin nodded in gratitude. At the suggestion of a double date and then a set up, Fin smirked. "I'm sure Jess knows a lot more single girls than I do," Fin only really KNEW a few and they were Purifiers so... not that Vik would really care that much about something like that, as far as Fin guessed. "We really should think of something. It would be fun to... I don't know, hang out with the three of us? Plus mystery girl," Fin agreed. "You can see how sappy we are," he joked. @vik

Vik laughed, "Well, I could always put in a good word for you, you know." He knew that wouldn't happen. Fin was good at his job- though he'd probably be good at anything he tried to do. There was no way Vik's "sophisticated" friend would want to join him in his thievery and plundering endeavors, he didn't think. He nodded firmly before rolling his eyes. "I may have quick fingers, but I don't betray my friends," he answered. He knew Fin was just teasing him, but at the same time Vik wanted to make sure that wasn't a question.
Fin said that Jess probably knew more single girls than he did and Vik shrugged. "That's fine by me. I'm pretty good at getting along with almost anyone," he said, quirking his eyebrows at his friend. Vik was very good when it came to convincing other people to like him. He knew how to joke and tease and just seemed to get along with most people quite well. He nodded, "I'd love to do something with the two of you, with or without a mystery girl. I wanna see how different you are with her," he teased, chuckling a little. "Seriously though, man, I'm game if you guys want to set me up with someone."

Vik said he could put a good word in for Vik at the circus and he chuckled, "yeah, okay. Works for me," he joked. Vik added that he didn't betray his friends, which caused a short pain to shoot through Fins chest. Not because of Vik, but because Fin was really betraying a lot of friends by doing what he did in secret with the Purifiers and he'd be betraying his best friend if he left, so that was... an issue.
"Then it's settled, I'll talk to her," Fin promised, about getting a date for Vik. Vik said he'd love to do something with them with or without another girl and how he wanted to see how Fin acted around his girlfriend. "I guess I do act pretty different, it's quite a show. And yeah, if we know anyone I'll make it happen. Her friends might be too good for you," he joked.

It was easy to remember why Fin and Vik always got along with one another. They had easy banter between them and neither of them were too uptight. They didn't get upset at simple jokes, which helped a lot with that. He nodded when Fin agreed to his teasing about the circus, smirking. He didn't notice Fin's slight distraction in the least.
"Good. Can't wait to meet her," Vik answered firmly. Then he laughed a little when Fin admitted that he might act differently around the girl. Vik was fairly certain his friend was teasing, but he wanted to see for himself. He couldn't imagine Fin around a girl seriously, and it was clear to Vik that he was serious about this one. "Oh, they probably are. Most women are," Vik agreed without hesitation. "Gimme a sec, I'll be right back." Vik had been keeping his eye on the big man Fin mentioned at the beginning of the interaction and now was the perfect opportunity. He slid over there while the man was distracted talking to some pretty girl. Vik staggered up to the bar, pretending to be drunk and bumped into the man, who glared at him and told him to watch where he was going. "Of course, of course, sorry," Vik slurred his words as he walked away, an obvious teeter to his step.
Once he was sure the man wasn't watching him, Vik made his way to Fin, sitting down once again and pulling out the guy's watch. It wasn't a super-nice watch, but it looked fancy. Vik still found it amusing how distracted people could get when they talked to a pretty girl and thought everyone else around them was drunk. "How's this?" he asked with a smirk.

Vik said he couldn't wait to meet Jess and Fin grinned. He said that most women were too good for him and before Fin could answer he was whisking himself away into the party. Fin rolled his eyes, turning away for a moment until his friend came back. Fin laughed as the watch was held out to him, and reached for it. He didn't take it right away, just touched it lightly with his fingertips, "eh, it's alright, I guess," Fin teased, "sure you don't want it?" he asked, joking. He wouldn't keep the watch either way, so Vik could either do whatever with it or they could give it back to the guy. "Oh, that's a real challenge - I just thought of," Fin explained, "getting the watch BACK on his wrist, eh?"

It was obvious from the smile on Fin's face that he was entirely taken by this Jess girl. For that reason alone, Vik was excited to meet her. He wanted to see and be able to talk to the girl who'd made his friend so happy. When he came back from stealing the guy's watch, he paid attention to Fin's reaction. "Alright? Really? That's all you're going to say after I went to all this effort for you?" Yes, Vik was teasing and Fin would know that, but still. He wasn't even holding the watch yet. Lame. Vik rolled his eyes when Fin asked if he wanted the watch. Vik could easily get a watch any time he wanted, and a nicer one than this too. He looked around the room, feigning annoyance. Then Fin started talking about a real challenge and Vik looked over at him, definitely interested. He snorted, "That's not a challenge at all. Apparently you don't like my gift though, so I'll do it." He stood up and stalked away, still pretending to be offended. He made his way over to the guy, pretending to be drunk again and with a bit of quick movements and and "accidental" stumble, the watch was back where it had been originally, the other man none the wiser. "There. Have I impressed you at all yet?" He asked loftily, moving to sit on the stool beside Fin even though he still wasn't looking at him.
