SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER Joe loved that he found a topic, actually two topics, that interested Kinsey. Food and Quidditch. It was safe to say that it seemed like they already had a lot in common, even after two encounters. Joe liked how honest Kinsey was. She was awkward, but she had a sassy truthfulness about her too. She could almost say anything and make it polite, or maybe it was just the accent. Who knows... Joe was intrigued by Kinseys attitude and her beautiful blue eyes. She seemed surprised that he knew how to make a souffle and he nodded proudly, "One of the first things I learned how to make. When I was like, psh, eleven." he bragged jokingly, and smiling brightly, "I will make you a souffle. Or, better yet, I can teach you how to make one." Joe offered, more liking the idea of spending time with the pretty girl instead. Kinsey asked him what his favorite food to make was and he thought about his answer, but only a quick second because he knew what he liked to make. "I like making French pastries and desserts. As for main courses....pastas paired with rich sauces...and warm, flaky, buttery breads." As he spoke, it started to make him hungry, but he nodded solidly. If quidditch didn't work out, he definitely knew what he was going to do. He nodded his head and smiled when she asked surprisingly that he wanted to play with her. "Of course I would like to play with you, Kinsey.... And it sounds like I don't have to go easy on you." he laughed, since she mentioned training with her brother who was already a professional athlete. It was obvious that Joe was proud of himself. Kinsey wasn't entirely sure if it was because he'd taken her by surprise so obviously or if he was proud of the fact that he cooked ... maybe it was a combination of both. His confidence was intriguing though. People as confident as him didn't normally take the time to talk to her so it was different, but definitely not in a bad way. Kinsey kind of liked the attention. Her eyes widened as he bragged a little. "When you were eleven? Are you serious or just teasing me?" She demanded, a slow smile blooming as he continued. "You'd teach me?" Kinsey wasn't really a cook. Sure, she liked to cook and sometimes over the holidays she would bake treats for her family, but she wasn't particularly good at it. At least, she didn't think she was.
She waited patiently for him to answer the rest of her questions. It was nice that Joe wasn't annoyed or anything by her barrage of questions. He seemed to be happy to answer them. She nodded as he answered. It sounded like he knew how to cook a bunch of things that all sounded delicious. Kinsey chuckled under her breath, "Well feel welcome to cook for me whenever you want, that all sounds delicious." It made her want to eat right now, but she wasn't going to say so. Class hadn't even started yet. She shrugged, feeling warm when he said that he didn't have to go easy on her. "Maybe you do ... I never said I was really good at any of it, just that I like it and sometimes played with my brother," she argued, not quite remembering exactly what she said about her abilities. It was much better to be thought of as worse than you were than to be thought of as better though. She didn't want to disappoint him, though she didn't know why. "Don't you prefer ... wait, what is the American version of Quidditch?" Kinsey asked, eyebrows furrowing as she spoke. It annoyed her that she didn't remember on her own.

SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER It was cute how surprised Kinsey was about Joes secret ability. He would really have to cook something for her sometime. Or, even teach her, by the look on her face. She actually seemed interested. That would be a great way for him to get to know the cute girl a lot better. "No, serious as a heart attack, kitten." he winked, it was about time to test a new pet name. Joe obviously was a huge tease and Kinsey was starting to feel it out. She could take it too, which was great. "When I was little my parents used it as a punishment so I would stop fighting with my sister and focus my energy on something, but I ended up liking it." he shared with a snort, he shrugged his shoulders. "Yes, I would totally teach you!" he laughed, turning towards Kinsey. "What would you like to learn to make?" Joe asked curiously. Surprisingly chatty when he actually had a topic he was passionate about to talk about. Kinsey asked about the American Version of quidditch and he chucked. "The 'American Version' is Quodpot!" he informed with animated air quotes for 'American Version'. Joe had always been intrigued by sports and anything that involved physical contact. Sports were a great outlet for his anger. "Don't tell anyone, but I think I prefer Quidditch more. Never really cared for the exploding quaffles." he whispered with a smirk. Kinsey was about to roll her eyes when he said he was entirely serious, but then he added on the pet name. Her mouth opened and she spluttered, her face feeling hotter than she could ever remember it being before. "Kitten?!" she squeaked in a high pitched tone. It wasn't that she disliked the name per se, but she wasn't used to people calling her anything but Kinsey or Kins. Joe calling her cute and pretty was strange enough, kitten was like entering an alternate universe.
She shook her head, barely hearing Joe when he told her that his parents used cooking as a punishment but that he actually liked it. The next thing she actually did pay attention to was when he agreed to teach her. "Oooh I'm excited!" she enthused as she clapped her hands together, finally able to pretend like she wasn't focused on the nickname he'd just given her. Then she shrugged, "What is your favorite thing to cook? That's not too difficult?" Doing something pretty simple was probably the best idea for her, at least for now.
Joe answered her question, telling her it was Quodpot and Kinsey nodded her head, chanting it inside her mind so she could remember what it was called. "Quodpot," she muttered under her breath. Kinsey grinned when he said that he preferred Quidditch more, then talking about exploding Quaffles. "Wait ... the Quaffles explode?! How is this even close to the same game?" Kinsey demanded, wondering if maybe she heard him wrong.

SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER
The squeak that erupted from Kinseys mouth from the word 'Kitten' sent Josephs head tilting to the side, and the corners of his mouth curling upwards into a smile, which melted into a full blown grin. "Oooh, found one!" he exclaimed, nodding his head in approval and poking her in the side playfully. "That was a good one." he mused, allowing a soft laugh to slip past his lips. Kinseys cheeks were beat red again, he noticed that, but he wouldn't point it out any more. There was only so much one could take in one sitting, even the snake knew that. Joe narrowed his eyes to the Ravenclaw comically at the answer to his question from Kinsey. She asked him a question back, so he turned it back around to her. "Anything you want." he said sweetly, shrugging his shoulders lazily at her. Joe said that they'd cook what she wanted, not what whatever his favorite, or whatever was easiest to make! This would be a good way to learn what Kinsey liked to eat as well, so Joe was eager to hear what she wanted. "How about trifle? That's actually really easy... basically like...spongecake..is it not?" Joe asked Kinsey with interest. "With berries n things.."Quodpot was kind of weird. It was basically the baseball of sports for the magical world in America. Joe played it because he was a fan sports and getting physical in general. It certainly wasn't ever his favorite sport. Quidditch was always near and dear to his heart. He liked beating around a bludger, not a game revolving around a hot potato. When Kinsey asked further about the sport, he snorted with a shrug. "It's more of a variant of quidditch and football...or, uh, soccer for you guys." Joe corrected himself, and continued with a better explanation since she seemed truly interested. "Basically...the game is played with a quod, or modified quaffle, that has been magically altered to explode at random. Anytime the quaffle explodes in a players possession, they're out of the game. The objective of the game is to get the quod into the pot at the end of the pitch... Each time you make a goal, you get one point, as well as a new quod." Joe explained with a coach-like mentality he suddenly couldn't hold back, then he declared dramatically with a nod, tapping his hand over his heart, "-But Quidditch will forever be number one in my heart."MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0 [googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC:400]

He was grinning at her, a smile that told Kinsey she'd probably hear that pet name again some time. She shook her head, trying to argue without speaking when he said that he found one, but not able to actually say the lie out loud. He had found a pet name that would get a rise out of her, that was for sure. Joe mentioned it was a good one and she scoffed, "Well, it's definitely way better than calling me Sweet Cheeks," she grumbled, grimacing slightly as she remembered that nickname. She also thought it was better than him calling her pretty or cute, but she didn't want to say that out loud. She wasn't sure how much she wanted to encourage him, but at the same time she did. It was all very confusing.
He didn't give her an answer! Kinsey rolled her eyes when he said they could do anything she wanted. The thing was, she didn't know what he could make. What if she chose something and he didn't even know what it was? She was sure the worry was showing in her eyes, because after a few seconds he suggested trifle. Her eyes widened and she started nodding enthusiastically. "I love trifle! Have you ever made that before?" It didn't sound like it, since he was asking what it was, but she wouldn't mind leading him through it. She smirked, "I could teach you how to make that one if you want?"
She nodded slowly as Joe started to explain more about Quodpot. "That makes sense." He continued to explain and she listened, definitely agreeing with his assessment of the game. "I would definitely have to agree with you. Quidditch does sound like the better game." She paused a moment before adding, "I hope you'll forgive me, but I don't think I am going to ever want to try playing Quodpot. I'd probably end up burning myself." However, Kinsey didn't really think he'd mind that.

SOMETIME IN NOVEMBER
Well, he definitely wouldn't ever call her 'Sweet Cheeks' again, that was a bad one. Joe nodded agreeably to her comment, unable to hold back a snort. Kinsey asked if he had ever made her favorite dessert. "I have made sponge cakes, but never 'trifle'." he answered honestly, always happy to conversate with someone about food. Especially cute girls. He knew how to use his cooking abilities to his advantage when he wanted to. Joe smiled at her offer to show him how to make trifle, finding the gesture sweet. He could have easily looked that up, but he'd prefer to learn it the 'Kinsey way'. "How about you show me how to make your favorite, trifle, and I will show you how to make my favorite, strawberry cheesecake." he proposed, an offer she possibly couldn't refuse. Right? His green eyes flickered with amusement when she joked about hoping he wouldn't be upset that she wouldn't being interested in playing the American sport, he shook his head when she mentioned getting burned, "Ohh, noo, there's no fire involved! The explosion is more of a powdery substance that gets all over ya." he explained with a laugh, figuring she really didn't know much about the game. "This one time--" Joe was so caught up in his conversation with Kinsey he almost forgot that he was in Arithmancy class. The Professor was standing in front of the class now with their arms folded across their chest, a slightly annoyed look on their face, "Don't make me say it again, turn to page 394." the Professor barked. Joe quickly turned his body to face the board, and not Kinsey, flipping his fingers through the thick book to open to the designated page. "Sorry." he grumbled, trying to stifle the laugh, as well as hide the smirk from his face by looking down and at Kinsey again with a funny look. Kinsey nodded when Joe said that he'd made sponge cakes, but not trifle and Kinsey nodded thoughtfully. She normally convinced her mom to make the cake part of trifle and then she put all the parts together, but she could make a sponge cake too. "Well, you're going to love it! Trifle is fantastic," she gushed excitedly. What? It was a dessert that actually had nothing to do with chocolate, but was delicious on its own. No one faulted her for loving Trifle. He suggested that she could teach him to make trifle and he'd show her how to do cheesecake. "Deal!" Kinsey agreed immediately, relieved that his favorite wasn't chocolate too. She'd have to tell him about that sometime, but didn't really feel like bringing it up right now. She didn't want to deal with his surprise about it. Most people couldn't let it alone when they found out she didn't like chocolate. He was shaking his head when she explained why she wasn't particularly interested in Quodpot and Kinsey listened carefully as he explained her mistake. "Oh!" she muttered while he laughed. Joe started to explain a little more about the game- or was he going into a story?- when he suddenly stopped. Kinsey jumped, her attention snapping forward as her cheeks burned. How did she not notice the professor start? She'd been so wrapped up in her intriguing conversation with Joe, that's how. Now he was getting after them in front of the entire class and she couldn't remember a time when she'd been so embarrassed. At least, a time that wasn't caused by Joe's teasing. She jumped again, hurriedly opening her book when the professor repeated his instructions, flipping to the right page and looking down at the book instead of up at the professor. She could hardly believe she got so distracted! She jumped yet again (wow, what was happening to her) when Joe muttered an apology. Kinsey glanced over at him, eyes widening when she realized he was trying not to laugh and she nodded, eyes wide. "Me too," she whispered before snapping her attention back to the professor. She didn't want to get into trouble again. "We can keep talking later," Kinsey mumbled out of the corner of her mouth before focusing entirely on the lecture that was beginning. She didn't want to get into any more trouble here today. -- the end --- @joseph
