Sav was so easy to talk to. He said that he'd go running with her anytime and Ashley nodded in response. She'd definitely keep that in mind, especially if she got tired with her route. It always helped to go running with someone else and let them show you new places. If nothing else, it also helped to have someone else to talk to or just keep you company. As much as Ashley enjoyed running alone, she also enjoyed Sav's company and was sure she wouldn't mind running with him. At least, sometimes.
He didn't say anything back when she pressed that he was helping her by telling her about the tree, which wasn't really that much of a surprise to Ashley. She was starting to think that he more mentioned it just in passing and hadn't actually meant he wanted to show it to her. She noticed him roll his eyes, but Ashley didn't make any comment about that. She didn't want to actually annoy Sav. That would not make it a fun walk together. She nodded when he explained that it was out of the way, so most people stayed away from it. "Good to know," she commented with a smile. "Are we almost there yet?" Ashley asked, glancing around them curiously. She kind of just wanted to see the tree now. Then they could continue on their tour.
"So what is your favorite thing about the Hogwarts grounds?" Ashley asked, determined to keep some form of conversation going while she could. She liked talking to Sav and was interested in his opinions.

“Yes, we’re almost there, it’s just up that way, just around the curve.” he told her as they came from an angle since he had been leading the way towards the lake previously. Once they got around the curve, the tree would be in their sight, and then they could get as close as they wanted to, though Sav knew better than to let her get too close and risk upsetting the tree. As they walked, finishing the distance between them and the tree, she asked him what his favorite part of the grounds was, he spoke without really thinking, “The Quidditch pitch.” but then, once he said the words, he felt another thought come to mind. “The lake is pretty great too, I’ve been in there quite a few times, plus, I like to run by the lake.” he explained.

Sav mentioned that they'd be able to see the tree once they got to the next curve in the path. It wasn't that far away and Ash couldn't help but feel excited. She wanted to see this tree that he was talking about. She'd never really heard of a tree that attacked people, so it definitely sounded at least interesting. As they approached the curve Sav answered her question, saying that his favorite place was the Quidditch Pitch and then the lake. She chuckled a little, not really surprised. "You guys do have a very nice pitch here. My brother made me go out on it with him the other day," she mentioned casually, "but the Lake is definitely nice too. Very pretty." They turned at the curve and Ash's jaw dropped. "Is that it?" she said, pointing to the lone tree. "It doesn't look scary ..." Of course, she believed Sav, but just looking at the tree as its branches swayed in the wind, nothing really looked special about it.

She asked if that was it when they came into view of the tree and Sav smirked, “Yeah, that’s it. It doesn’t look threatening when you’re far away and you haven’t tried to get close enough to touch it. And you’re not going to try. That, is where I will draw the line.” Sav teased, but he was also firm in his decision. He didn’t want her to get hurt and he didn’t really want to have to go in and rescue her, or anyone, right now, especially after having warned her about the tree. Sav liked to be the hero, but there was a time for that and this wasn’t it.

Sav confirmed that she was looking at the right tree, explaining that it didn't really look dangerous until you got close enough that it got annoyed and could hurt you. She started to laugh when he said that she wasn't going to try because that's where he drew the line. Ash rolled her eyes. Even though she knew he was teasing, she might as well lessen his worries a little. "I have no intention of walking up to a tree that you say is dangerous. Sure, I wanted to see it, but I have no intention of letting it beat me up." She giggled. "I just wanted to see so I'd know for future reference and not get hurt." She quirked her head at him, "Did you think I was going to try and convince you to approach it with me?" Ash was teasing him now, since he started it. "Okay, you've shown me the tree now, you can show me whatever else you want," she added with another chuckle, looking up at him with innocent eyes. "Unless you're tired of me. Then we can call it a day." Ashley didn't really expect Sav to come outright and tell her he was tired of her, but she gave him the option either way.

Ashley insisted that she wasn’t going to try to go up to the tree and Sav was glad that she seemed to be serious about it and not just saying so to keep him happy. Sav loved an adventure and he was up for most things all of the time, but he was never interested in sacrificing the safety of another to have fun. He was responsible, after all. At least some times. “Yeah a part of me did think you’d do just that.” he smirked when she asked if he thought that she was going to try to convince him to go up to the tree. It was one of the things that Sav had never done, and never would do. Jumping into the lake was one thing, climbing the mountains around was another. The whomping Willow wasn’t a force to be tangled with. “Great, let’s keep walking then.” he smiled when she was finally satisfied with viewing the tree. He continued to show her around the grounds, showing her the various locations as they passed them by.
