[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] SO GATHER ALL THE REBELS NOW [attr="class","next"] NOVEMBER 29, 2024 The day before had been the Thanksgiving feast, and all the classes had been canceled, but that meant that Friday was filled with slight catching up. Luckily, she had a chance to go to the Great Hall to study and catch up on some school work with other people that also had the same opportunity. Usually, Isabel had her ‘study halls’ with Jimmie, and she was hoping that was still the case. In her arms was a sketchpad filled with drawings she had done for the Thanksgiving feast, something that she knew that Jimmie would likely write about for the paper. Pushing open the massive wooden doors, she looked around for a second before her eyes narrowed in on the familiar blonde sitting at one of the tables. She moved towards her, heels clicking against the ground as she did so. She didn’t care about rules about shoes, they were under her robes and likely something that wouldn’t be seen by anyone else, more likely heard by them. Thus, when she reached the table the blonde was seated at, she quickly threw down the pad with a loud thwack noise. “Here,” she said as she slowly sunk across from her frown and grabbed out her school work, placing it delicately in front of her. There were drawings from Thanksgiving and then some other random ones that she had done for use in the paper, she was sure that Jimmie would find some use for them.

SITTING IN THE GREAT HALL, JIMMIE SKIMMED through a piece she was working on for the paper, side-lining her school work in favour of the club. Though her father wouldn't approve, she couldn't help herself. She'd sent another draft to the Senior Editor at the Prophet, and while she hadn't heard back yet she felt fairly confident that it'd be well received. It made her eager to do more. And while she was supposed to be studying, her study buddy hadn't even turned up yet.
By the time Isabel parked herself opposite of Jimmie, she'd already done her second read through and began editing the piece. "Don't you own a watch?" She asked without looking up, elbow on the table, flickering her nails against the pad of her thumb absently. After a moment she lifted her head, frowning slightly as she realised Isabel had come with something for her. "Well, I hope it's food, because I'm starving." Though when she placed down her parchment and saw the bound artwork she perked up immediately.
"Ah!" Jimmie exclaimed, a grin working its way across her face as she snatched up the illustrations and began flicking through them. She didn't say anything for a second, examining Isabel's precise lines and realism. "These are fantastic." She gushed, shaking her head as she thought of where she'd place each one in her thanksgiving piece. "Honestly, you're a darling." Jimmie wasn't sure if Isabel knew just how talented she was. "You should join the work-force full-time." She added casually, setting them down and folded her hands over them carefully as she looked at her friend fondly. "Thank you."

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] SO GATHER ALL THE REBELS NOW [attr="class","next"] ‘Don’t you own a watch?’ Isabel gave a laugh and looked at her friend with a raised eyebrow, “Do I look like the type of person to own a watch? Let alone wear one?” she questioned, a smile appearing on her face. Of course, Jimmie would question about the surprise being food, but Isabel had to agree – food sounded good right about now. But when the blonde noticed the artwork, she seemed to suddenly forget what she was doing and snatched the pad so fast, Isabel got whiplash just from watching. She smirked as the girl examined them, the silence between them not strange or awkward, as she waited for the comments that would follow the appreciation of the work. Isabel shrugged her shoulders when Jimmie said they were fantastic and that she was a darling and she laughed. “Is me being the head photographer of the newspaper not good enough for you?” she questioned, shaking her head in amusement at her friend. She knew that her friend enjoyed her artwork, but had she already forgotten she was already a member of the paper? She smiled, sitting up straighter in her seat and smirking at her friend, “You are very welcome. How’s the article thingy coming?”
NOTES sorry for the wait! [newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar]width: 5px;[/newclass][newclass=.next::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #000;[/newclass]

ISABEL HAD A POINT. SHE DID NOT LOOK LIKE the type who would where a clunky old watch. But, Jimmie wished that she would. Maybe then they'd hang out on time. "You should." She replied snottily, but she was smiling. Her irritation all but disappeared as Isabel handed her her illustrations. And Jimmie didn't hand out compliments willy-nilly. She was known for operating with unapologetic honesty. It came with the career choice, she figured. Isabel, though, was honestly good.
"Well..." Jimmie said, pretending to ruminate on the subject as she pouted out her bottom lip. "I could use the company." Photographers for the paper usually only turned up to drop off some photographs and show up on site if they were covering a game or something in particular. "And your drawings are even better than your photos." Jimmie said with a slight laugh, her unfiltered honesty rearing its head once again.
Leaning her elbows on the table top, Jimmie pretended to be humble for a moment, shrugging her shoulders loosely. It didn't last long. "My Ministry piece was a hit!" She gushed, her grin toothy and open as she straightened her back pridefully. Though she wondered if her friend had read it as she tilted her head and narrowed her eyes slightly. "You read it...?" She asked, a slight accusation in her tone. Though Isabel was no required to read her pieces, Jimmie would be deeply insulted if she didn't.

SO GATHER ALL THE REBELS NOW WE'LL REBEL ROUSE AND SING ALOUD WE DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SAY NO WAY
'Well...I could use the company. And your drawings are even better than your photos.' Isabel gasped, looking as if she were offended, but she knew it to be true. She had only joined the club because she was bored and needed something extra to do with her life. Plus, it was fun taking photos, when she did them, and it gave her a better view when Quidditch games were happening. She shrugged, "Maybe―guess I'll just have to draw everything instead of snapping a photo of it." she said, knowing that Jimmie would faint at the opportunity.
Jimmie was quick to gush about her ministry piece, something that she had read over the summer when she had seen her name on the local paper of the wizarding world. It had been open at her parent's home, her father likely having been reading the article and left it to do something. She sat there for a few minutes and felt a surge of pride in calling Jimmie her friend. She rolled her eyes, "What kind of friend would I be if I hadn't?" she questioned with a raised eyebrow.

SNICKERING AT ISABEL'S AUDIBLE GASP, JIMMIE rolled her eyes in earnest. But, she didn't feel bad about being honest, and she knew her friend would know that. Jimmie had never felt particularly bad about being honest. Especially among people she genuinely liked. Her father was a natural performer, but Jimmie had lacked his impeccable poker face. Sometimes, her emotions shone straight through her face. Like a plain glass window.
"I think that's a good idea," Jimmie said with a sober nod, though her eyes were crinkled with barely contained laughter. Isabel's photographs weren't even that bad, but her drawings held a certain creativity that she couldn't deny. She was a natural artist. "And you can join the paper full time." With a large grin, Jimmie was terribly hopeful for a moment. Isabel had been avoiding such a responsibility for as long as she had known her. It was starting to become something of a running joke between them. Except, Jimmie wasn't always laughing about it.
"Oh, so we're friends now?" Jimmie said with a smirk. Isabel was cooler than her in a lot of ways. They ran in distinctly different crowds. Jimmie already knew that she ran around with a known thief and chain-smoker from Slytherin. But, when they did hang out, they got along surprisingly well. "I'll have to take a note of that..." She said with a look towards the ceiling. But, her cheeks were still crease as she looked back at her friend. "Did you like it?" She added after a beat, unable to stop herself. "It wasn't to on the nose, was it?"

'I think that's a good idea. And you can join the paper full-time.' Isabel laughed, shaking her head and shrugged her shoulders at the girl's words. "Maybe, I guess we'll see," she said, trying to hold onto the running joke that was held between the girl. Sure, she was going to join full time, but she didn't want to agree to it yet.
The brunette rolled her eyes as Jimmie said that they were friends now. Isabel had always seen the other girl as a friend, a little annoying sometimes, but she was someone that could deal with Isabel's personality. 'I'll have to take a note of that...Did you like it? It wasn't too on the nose, was it?' Isabel shook her head, "I thought it was great."

NARROWING HER EYES, JIMMIE TRIED TO SEE past Isabel's straight face. Her reluctance was always a joke until it wasn't. Jimmie was deadly serious about recruiting her full time, but Isabel liked to see her squirm. She maintained her razor sharp gaze for a moment before heaving a sigh and rolling her eyes towards the ceiling. It was overcast, thick grey clouds meandering across the ceiling, heavy with the promise of rain. "You exhaust me, Izzy."
At the very least, Jimmie could expect complete honesty from her friend. Isabel was never the type to shield feelings, and Jimmie liked that for the most part. But, she felt terribly vulnerable asking her about her article. Jimmie still felt new to it all. Infantile. The fact that interest in the school newspaper waxed and waned didn't help either. Jimmie could never be sure of her abilities. "Okay..." She nodded rapidly, trying to reign in her smile, but she was showing too much teeth. "Good."
After a moment of basking in her own excellence, the high wore off and Jimmie's attention flickered back to Isabel, as sharp as ever. "Come on full time." She said, her expression suddenly sober. "I'm serious." She shifted closer to her friend, crossing her arms firmly and lifting her brows. "It looks great on your transcripts and we're almost 7th years." This all seemed terribly important to Jimmie. That she make something of an impression before she was released in to the real world. "It's now or never."

'You exhaust me, Izzy.' Isabel smirked, nodding her head and shrugging her shoulders. "You know I love to see you squirm. It brings me such joy in life when I'm stuck here at Hogwarts. She didn't say yes or no, and after the blonde got the truth out of her about her piece in the paper, she went back to trying to recruit her.
'Come on full time. It looks great on your transcripts, and we're almost 7th years. It's now or never.' Isabel tapped her chin with her long red nails, and finally, she rolled her eyes. "Fine. But my artwork is only for your pieces. The others can have my shitty photography, deal?" Isabel was being modest, her photography wasn't that bad - because of her creative nature, she very rarely took a bad photo, let alone drew one.

CLUCKING HER TONGUE AND ROLLING HER EYES, Jimmie appeared utterly exhausted by Isabel's trying temperament. But, she actually enjoyed it and it showed in the slight smile on her face. Isabel would fight her on every little thing, but Jimmie didn't mind a bit of healthy debate. Especially if she thought herself utterly in the right.
"Well, that's just sad." She tutted, shaking her head so that her silvery blonde hair fluttered around her ears. "You should get a hobby..." And then her smile turned devilish. "Like the school newspaper." Teeth flashing as she prodded her friend, feeling like maybe she'd won this round. Though, Jimmie did not expect Izzy to actually agree to come on board. She'd only been trying since she'd started on the darn paper. Jimmie blanched, her mouth slackening before she rushed to keep up with it, pairing words.
"Deal!" She declared, maybe a little too loudly. Clapping a hand over her mouth with a startling laugh. "You actually agreed with me on something..." She felt very triumphant. "No backsies." She warned her, thinking of all the impressive and noteworthy art work that would be displayed across her articles. It'd bring them up another tier, most definitely. Jimmie leaned back, nodding her head gracefully. "It's gonna be a great year." She sighed, and she meant it.
