AT LILY'S FROWN, JI-YU found herself smiling. The young Gryffindor reminded her of her brother, his need to do things before his mind caught up with him, as well as to rebel out even when put in his place. It was a funny reminder of her childhood alongside the younger Choi, even if the Potter girl was a decade or so younger than Ji-Yu herself. "Pass my class this year Lily and I'll come to a compromise." After all it would be nice to not hear the Ravenclaw speak about himself for a few minutes...or hours...maybe days...Bling to rid herself of her daze, eyes focused on the students once more. Lily's chaos was a normal occurrence for the Charms classroom, as well as many other practical subjects, with each student learning something new each term and proving to be difficult than the last. The task seemed easy when said but the students incapability seemed to balance out their wrongdoings. The only down fall of it all was: sometimes Lily's actions were planned. It was something the Choi caught upon, a means for attention, a simple reminder of her dear...chaotic younger brother.
Her congratulations to the Hufflepuff hadn't gone unnoticed by the Gryffindor and a smile tugged at the Choi's lips when Lily decided to prove her worth. After all, she was right about one thing, she was able to cause chaos, chaos that could be ultimately controlled. "Let's call it Lily's Chaos for now." She suggested amusingly. Turning to look down upon the anxious girl that was Cordelia, Ji-Yu couldn't help but feel pride for the girl. It was rare to see a student excel so quickly just a few months into the new term, but the Hufflepuff seemed to have time to prove her worth, simply because of how reserved she was. ”While it’s true Lily’s Chaos wasn’t particularly something…That was something.” She told the Hufflepuff, referring to her actions. ”Miss Smith that was something. I asked for everyone to perform Lumos but you’ve…excelled. I feel my job is at jeopardy here.” She grinned as a joke.

11.XX.2024 A singular, awkward laugh escaped from Lily at the Professor’s challenge: pass Charms and she could use the jinx on Gilderoy. It was funny for a few different reasons, the first being that she was probably going to zap the boy the second they stepped out into the corridor, just because she could. The second was the prospect of passing Charms this year. They were only a month away from the end of the first term, and Lily was already starting to feel the pressure build up when it came to scoring higher on tests and papers. Even if she did sit down and try her best in this class, she still had five other classes to pass as well. Currently, she was only above a passing mark in Care of Magical Creatures and Dueling. Suffice to say, the second term was going to be a fun one for her. Cordie was going to be spending a lot of time with her in the Gryffindor common room, whether she liked it or not. It would be like a never ending sleepover!
Cordie started to tell her something about the wild spell but Professor Choi decided to name it her ‘Chaos’. It was perfect! “Ohh I like that Professor. If I hated my middle name, which I don’t I love my Auntie Luna, I would totally change it to that. Or maybe I’ll name one of my kids that someday. Apparently Potters gravitate towards that sort of thing anyway, so it’ll fit,” she nodded her head excitedly, all the while shaking Cordie with her, the arm draped around the Hufflepuff pulling her in closer. “Yeah maybe you should take Professor Choi’s job when she retires in a few years. Do your camera stuff until then, and then just swoop in like bam!” she attempted clapping her hands together in front of her friend, but the sound was weak. “You’d be good at it Cordie, I know you would.” As for her own prospects, they were starting to look thin as the months wore on. But that was for another time, because praising the Hufflepuff girl and seeing her face turn varying degrees of red was more entertaining than planning her own future career. There wasn’t a lot of time left at Hogwarts, so spending it the right way was sort of important for her.

@jiyu 11.XX.2024 Cordelia wasn’t sure if Professor Choi knew what she was doing by labeling Lily’s spell thing. Giving really positive validation like that to the Gryffindor girl was literally the worst possible thing to do if the professor wanted her to quiet down and get work done. Now Lily was going to think that she was special and she would more than likely keep acting out to repeat the spell. Positive reinforcement with her went way beyond what it did with the ordinary person, something Cordelia had figured out very quickly with her extroverted friend. Even when they weren’t together, she watched Lily from afar, seeing how she interacted with her other friends and housemates. Calling her reckless and out of control was one-hundred percent true, even if everything she did was with the best intentions at the end of the day.
That was why she had tried to get ahead of the professor by calling the spell outburst a fluke - nothing more than an accident. But now Lily had her ‘Chaos’, and it was going to be enabled by the professor. Unless Professor Choi had an ulterior motive for calling it so (which was entirely possible because she was easily the brightest professor Cordelia had currently), then there was going to be no end to the incessant bragging Lily was about to unleash over the course of the next month or so. It would be Chaos-this, Chaos-that. She already started in about a name change, which funnily enough, would fit her perfectly. Cordelia wouldn’t try to put a stop to that, because at least it would be an accurate representation of the girl.
“Lily, that’s rude…” she gently nudged her friend in the ribs with her elbow. She couldn’t just say that to the professor even if that was a possibility down the line. It would be years from now anyways, and Professor Choi would eventually move onto better things, that, Cordelia was sure of. There were other magical schools or institutions of higher learning that would need professors and educated witches and wizards that were proficient in charms. The only problem was that Cordelia wasn’t sure if she would ever be able to stand in front of a class and teach a lesson. Even with first years, having all of their curious eyes staring at her…it would be horrible! “I-I think I’ll stick to ph-photography…”

BELIVING IN LILY WAS A full-time job without the official title role or others to help out. Out of most of the Professors, the Choi herself was one fo the few that believed Lily could pass if she put her mind to it, actually taking time t settle down and study for at least an hour or so, just to go over a passing mark. Ji-Yu felt herself laughing at first in response to Lily’s love for Lily’s Chaos until her following words cut the laugh rather short and instead replaced her facial expression with bright red. Flushed in embarrassment. She didn’t look that old did she? Old enough to already consider retirement? Deep down the Choi knew that Lily was somewhat messing with her, well she had hoped Lily was. ”I don’t see myself retiring soon Lily. I just arrived here not long ago.” The Choi responded, facing the Gryffindor while forcing some sort of smile upon her lips.
”But Miss Potter does have a point Cordelia. You’d be an excellent teacher on the subject of Charms.” She said, intertwining Lily’s future suggestion with her own opinion. Photography was the counter measure from Cordelia, but regardless Ji-Yu smiled. There was an inclining feeling that Cordelia was amazing at anything she put her mind towards. She had proved her potential with Charms, performing spells that even took the Choi an immense amount of time as a child. ”Shall we move on then class? Perhaps selecting a Charm — nothing dangerous or harmful to others might I add — that you enjoy. Of any level but it must be performed non-verbally.” Ji-Yu paused at her next instruction watching some students shuffle together. ”Remain in the area’s you’re in but work in fours instead of twos. So Mr Lockhart and Miss Krum, join Miss Smith and Miss Potter. And you six at the back, split up.”
The Choi clapped her hands together, walking back in the midst of the groups, watching with an observant eye. Practice for the students showed who was dedicated to improve, to show off their talents and Cordelia fit that section fairly well. The other students on the other hand…They clearly needed work.

11.XX.2024 “Well a few years in dog years is like…” she pulled up a few fingers to count off on them, “It’s like twenty years or something, Professor. So then my kids can drive you crazy too, and then you’ll retire so Cordie can take over.” Lily was proud of her reasoning, especially because it was self-deprecating towards her lycanthropy. Adrian would probably be the only one that thought it was funny aside from her though, but that was fine. And in the end, Professor Choi agreed that Cordie would be a good professor someday. All her Hufflepuff had to do was get a little confidence. That sort of thing wasn’t difficult at all if she just gave it a shot.
A strong pat on her friend’s back was given as Lily switched back to paying attention when the professor gave the next set of instructions. Trying any sort of spell probably wasn’t going to work out for her, so lumos it was! That and they were to continue with the same groups so she could bother Gilderoy and Ana this time around. Maybe even sneak the lip-locking spell on the Ravenclaw when he and the professor weren’t looking. “Cordie, since you’re really good at this, can you show me how to do it again?” she gave the blonde girl a nudge with her elbow. “I’ll buy you candy or something at the next Hogsmeade trip. Pinky promise.” She held her wand hand pinky out for the shake, grinning at her friend as she did so. It was a fair trade in her mind, and everyone liked candy. Plus, it would maybe mean that she wasn’t going to fail Charms if she got Cordie’s help. Only time (and a lot of bribes) would tell.

@jiyu 11.XX.2024 Lily was unfazed by the comments from both herself and Professor Choi, so it seemed like getting the Gryffindor to realize how rude it actually was to call the professor old. Somehow Professor Choi deflected it and managed to continue nonetheless. Even with her comparing age to dog years. That was a new level of offensiveness that even she hadn’t seen Lily reach before. Cordelia had to step away from her friend for a moment so that she could let out a deep sigh, gathering her thoughts on whether to let the professor handle Lily or if she could poke her to shut-up again. The problem here was that the more resistance Lily had, the more likely she was to spout off nonsense. Since she really didn’t want to be the future Charms professor but also didn’t feel like arguing semantics with Lily, she decided to nod her head, hopefully putting an end to Lily’s ridiculousness. Professor Choi directed them back into their groups so that they could continue with the lesson, though this time they were allowed to cast whatever spell the wanted to as long as it was nonverbal. That was easy enough for Cordelia, considering she could already do the majority of simple casts that way. Lily, on the other hand, was already begging her to help. Or bribing, rather. “Y-Yeah…it’s easy, so watch c-closely,” she stated, doing the pinky promise and then turning her wand out, facing away from the rest of the class and silently casting lumos again. “J-Just think about the w-word, and then do the m-m-motions.” It really was quite simple, though telling Lily to think about one specific word and to focus in on it was like asking her not to ramble on for hours on end about a shiny spoon she once saw in a store and really wanted to buy, but had forgotten what the name of the store was. Cordelia didn’t feel like going down that road today either. For the time being, keeping her as focused as possible and continuously casting lumos was all the Hufflepuff could do to help. [Cord End]
