freezing.
TEARS WERE THE ONLY NATURAL means of resort for the half-vampire. Bianca, Katherine, any kind of approaching bully had only driven Zenevieva into a state of tears over the weeks, but Bianca’s hold was worst amongst them all. It was the glances she held for the half-vampire, as if she were nothing mere than dirt. A cruel reality, considering the Novell’s background. Zenevieva knew, even if the girl’s plans worked, standing up against Bianca, embarrassing her amongst the rest, she’d get back at them easily, for her own benefit. And Zen didn’t want that. She didn’t want to rope her friends into the same conflicting drama she had roped herself into. She didn’t want her friends to shed the same tears she had done. It wasn’t fair.
But they simply weren’t listening. It was natural in this case, to take on the protective mothering hen when your friend or loved one had been damaged, hurt or attacked. The more Zen listened, the more afraid she became. Kaylee had stepped forward now, touching her shoulder to comfort her. Zen knew the action was supposed to be affectionate but she grimaced at the touch anyway. ”And it’ll continue like this even if we stand up to her! Even if we beat her. Won’t you listen? Bianca won’t stop. Neither will Katherine or any of her friends…” From this, Zenevieva moved, watching as Ellie stepped forward, grabbing onto Kaylee’s arm. ”Thank you.” She murmured in Ellie’s direction. ”But there truly is no other way.” Bianca was smart, and if she wasn’t, someone in her midst of friends would be. The murmur was the only thing Zen added before deciding to move away.
The tears were falling down now, hurrying more than ever. It was an embarrassing sight, one Zen didn’t want her friends to see. From the courtyard, she hurried off, her arm raising to cover her face slightly, and the further she went, the smaller the silhouettes from behind her grew. She wanted to apologise, thank her friends for being considerate, willing to help but she didn’t want to spiral them into trouble. After all, Ellie was right, its was her choice. And her choice was to keep her friends at arms length, for their own good.
