[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I'VE LOVED AND I'VE LOST [attr="class","next"] DECEMBER 22, 2024 The final countdown until Christmas was upon the world, both magical and muggle, and Kaitlynn was part of the bunch that waited for the last minute to finish her shopping. Sure, her parents had passed already, and there wasn’t much of her family left to celebrate with, but she had a few friends that she still sent gifts to. This year was no different, and she had even gotten in contact with one of her friends from school, a girl that graduated the year before her and had rarely seen since. Both of them had been working, but now with the holiday approaching, it was the perfect time to catch up. Plus—with what she heard about her brother being in a coma, she was sure the girl needed a distraction. Thus, she had sent an owl to Dana not long ago and invited her to the winter festivals in Hogsmeade, and they had figured out the perfect date to go before Christmas, even saying they would meet by the train station nearby. Thus, that was where she stood now, her warm winter coat wrapped around her body and ear-muffs on her ears, pushing down her voluminous dark hair.

The roll up to Christmas was something that Dana was both somewhat excited for and a little…Sad for. The blonde had finally decided on a date for the magical ‘surgery’ to be performed on her younger brother, her mother’s ‘eh’ attempt at permission being taken into consideration as a simple Yes. Because of it, Dana Knox had found herself in and out of the hospital in the passing weeks and even befriended someone new in the process of it all. Amongst all of this, the blonde was stressed for her upcoming Blishwick date – expected to be with some kind of stranger while Christmas would be spent alone. Again.
But when Dana got in touch with an old friend, someone who was in the year below her – she was surprised to have another friend finally in the adulting world. The owls the two sent back and forth allowed their plans to commence and resulted with meeting during the Hogsmeade festival. It was the Knox’s first time in years since she last went to the festival, never really having a time to enjoy the festival in a joyful mood. It was a perfect distraction for Dana in the long run and so when she strolled outside of the station, she waved in the direction of her brunette friend.
”Kaitlynn!” She called out with a wave, walking closer to her friend, her coat covered arms and darkly coloured gloved hands held slightly open to embrace the other.
@kaitlynn & hope this works!

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I'VE LOVED AND I'VE LOST [attr="class","next"] Kaitlynn’s arms were crossed over her chest, attempting to keep the cold from nipping at her. Her eyes moved around trying to find Dana in the crowd of people that were visiting the festival. And then she noticed a flash of a hand waving in her direction and the call of a familiar voice saying her name. The blonde grew closer, and it wasn’t long before the two were hugging, a massive smile on the brunette’s face and a laugh leaving her lips. “Dana—it is so good to see you,” she breathed out seconds before the two girls pulled apart. She hadn’t seen Dana since she graduated the year before Kait did, and last, she had heard about the girl was about the accident. She frowned, “How’s your mom? Your brother?” she questioned, curiosity filling her being as she looked at her friend. She prayed internally that bringing up her brother wouldn’t make her upset.

Standing by a street light nearby the train station as she waited her friends arrival, Dana grinned once she saw her, and when Kaitlynn noticed her, the smile grew wider. Their hug was brief, but filled with warm between them and when they broke apart, Kait was laughing and soon Dana mimicked the laugh. ”It’s incredibly good to see you!” She responded, eyes flickering upwards momentarily as her breath disappeared into the air. Kaitlynn asked how her mother and brother were and soon the corners of her smile dropped into a small frown.
”Mother…I have no clue of.” She admitted. ”She packed her things from our Muggle home back in October, last I heard she travelled to the States to get away.” It then meant the eldest Knox child was in charge of her brother, even though he was sleeping his life away. ”Noah’s fine. I’ve been thinking of allowing him to undergo the surgery in the new year…His coma’s been going on for too long.” Most people knew of the accidents that occurred in Dana’s life, but the blonde tried to prevent it from allowing her to do things in her day-to-day life.
”But how are you? Your parents? How’s life in the Ministry?”

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] I'VE LOVED AND I'VE LOST [attr="class","next"] ‘Mother…I have no clue of. I’ve been thinking of allowing him to undergo the surgery in the new year…His coma’s been going on for too long.’ It was no surprise to anyone that knew of Dana and her family that it had been tough to swallow the idea of everyone getting hurt. She was surprised to have heard about it in the paper, or from wherever she heard it from – but she was shocked to see that the older woman was holding it up so well with how long ago it happened. Almost the same amount of time had passed since her parents passed and she still felt the loss. “I’m glad—you’ll have to keep me updated on his progress.” she said truthfully, genuinely wanting to be kept in the loop about Noah’s recover, which she was sure would happen. Noah, from what she remembered, was a strong young lad that could best all the odds put against him. And then came the question that she was dreading, she swallowed and forced a small smile. “I’ve seen better days. My—my parents sadly passed during my sixth year, around Christmas time. I’m surprised I never told you – I could have sworn I told everyone. As for life at the Ministry, it has its ups and downs, but its good as well.” She swallowed before allowing a small smile to appear on her lips, “What about you? How’s your job been going?”

ALTHOUGH DANA HADN’T seen her mother in months, she felt it wasn’t even necessary to question the older Knox’s well-being. Her postcards spoke enough words. When they delivered on time that was. Noah on the other hand…It was harsh, watching him breathe in hospital air daily, having no clue of what was going on in the real world. His hair grew, like his body as he slept and Dana just wished he would wake up soon. It was still the strangest thing ever. ”I will.” She promised, bearing a smile. It was nice, to express her feelings to the small group of friends she had, and presented herself as if nothing truly…Bothered her to others. Many few saw her weak side.
Eyes widened in surprise, had it really been so long since her parents passed? ”Oh Kait…I’m so sorry.” She hadn’t meant to bring it up, nor was she sure she was aware of the fact. But above all, she felt bad for her younger friend. ”Do tell me more.” She smiled, trying to change the topic, force the conversation into the life of working. ”You know, I had the urge to join the Ministry, but I knew I loved Astronomy above all.” As she began, the blonde’s mouth parted, a breath of crisp white air leaving her lips as she tried to find the words to describe the wonders of her job. ”Aside from the many…Research projects that make me feel like I’m back in Seventh Year…” She joked before continuing. ”It’s great. Nice people. I’m in love with it everyday.”
The train station was nice when it came to decor and such, but Dana had plans for the two, mainly to chill within a nearby coffee store, warm themselves up before they took on the challenge of exploring Hogsmeade. ”Do you…Wanna grab some tea or coffee before we continue? That way you can tell me the wonders of being an Auror trainee.” She grinned.
