show me who i am.
21ST DECEMBER 2024
With Christmas rounding the corner, Bryelle was used to spending most of her Christmases alongside her family, the wild and confident side of herself thrown out of the window by the time she stepped off the train, her parent's presence awaiting her. Ever since enrolling into Hogwarts so long ago, every moment spent with her parents was bleak, quiet and filled with anxiety. She knew the thoughts her parents had, the shame they felt as they would robes and ties with stripes of red in the brunette's luggage. But after receiving an owl from her brother, she couldn't help but feel ecstatic. This year her parents would be no where to be found - except in the Goyle home - and Renard would be picking her up instead. And so the morning of the start of winter break was spent with the Goyle flurrying around her dorm room, magic assisting her to pack her things. Thank God for it.
The train ride itself was quiet, especially since she sat across from a young girl with vivid green eyes and a book in hand. Strangely enough to the Goyle, it was comforting to be consumed with silence - the peace from it relieving her of another Lily-headache for a moment or two. While quiet, Bryelle never realised how long the journey from Hogwarts to King's Cross really was, but nevertheless her eyes peered outside, capturing the fields, the views that surrounded the train tracks with a blink of an eye. Somewhere along the line - something she had no clue how it happened, the Goyle dozed off, awakened by the book reader across from her tapping her arm. She thanked the girl, wished her a good Christmas and followed, off of the train. And as she did so, blue eyes instantly found the face she looked for.
"Renard!" She called out, shaking all signs of sleepiness off her shoulders, stepping off the last step of the train's stairs and running to her brother, her arms opened to pull her brother into her own embrace. The last time she had seen her brother was momentarily during the summer, but even then - the two of them hated spending time with their parents. Being the dumb-wits they were. Even though Bryelle and Renard's relationship as siblings changed as they aged, creating moments when they loved and hated one another, she would still adore him. And most definitely prefer to be with him over their parents. "Can't we just have Christmas at yours? I don't want to see Mum..."
In most families, the father tended to be the one to express disappointment, but in the Goyle family, it was definitely her mother that took that role. Each year was different: Homework not being turned in, grades slipping, the friends she made, but with each year, it included one similar thing. The fact that she wasn't a Slytherin.
