Vik scrunched his nose as his old friend asked why. "I've never gone by that. It's the name for ... a stuffy old man. Not me." He wasn't sure if that was a good enough explanation or not. The thing was, he'd always gone by Vik. His whole life. He didn't want that to change now because someone thought it'd be funny to use his full name. "Beside,s you said you wanted me to call you Knoxie. I didn't say anything about calling me Viktor." He was also partly curious to see if she'd give in. With Dana he could never tell.
He rolled his eyes when she teased him about still caring for her. "Don't you know, I'm the sweetest guy around?" Vik said, not even trying to hide the sarcasm in his tone. "And of course I'd still care for you. You've been a good friend for a long time." Even though they loved to tease one another, he really would be there for Dana if she ever needed him. He couldn't help it. When Vik had friends, he really tried to take care of them. He didn't have a ton, so it wasn't super hard.
His nose wrinkled again when Dana said she was expecting a whole show. Really? Were they going to perform a show for them? What the heck did Blishwick get him into? And why was he going along with it? But he already knew that. He was doing it for Dana. He didn't want to disappoint her by backing out. He nodded at her question. "Yeah, it looks Greek to me. Have you ever tried any of this crap?" he asked quietly. He wasn't going to pretend he liked it, but he also didn't want to offend anyone that would be in charge of his food. He wasn't that stupid.

FEELING THE NEED to hold back a snort, Dana’s arms crossed around her sides as she slowly let out a few quiet laughs. ”So when you’re older and…Stuffy…Will you go by Viktor then?” She asked with a teasing smirk. His explanation only drew up evil plans in her mind, but it would require her friend to be sleeping to actually pull it off. Therefore, her evil plans would never work. Drat. ”Hey! That part was only a game. I don’t mind if you call me Knoxie.” She clarified, raising her brows as her arms folded, continuing the defensive act.
”I wouldn’t say the sweetest…” She muttered, eyes rolling at his sarcasm. ”If you were the sweetest, I would’ve won some of our duels back then.” But she knew why she didn’t win. Her magic wasn’t concentrated enough and Vik was just…Too damn good. To Dana, he was hard on her to give her the right amount of practice, be prepared for anything in a way. Or at least it felt like it. ”Stop, you’re going to make me cry.” She said in seriousness, the smile on her lips genuine. Vik was a great guy and would always be the closest of her small friend group. Even if he dealt with her drama by teasing his way through.
”Never really been a big fan of Greek food.” Especially after an exploration into the Muggle world. One small Greek place somewhere in London gave her the worst sickness for what felt like weeks on end. ”Though…I’m not objecting giving it another go.” Especially with this strange but…Fancy decor. Waiters passed the two of them, heading to other tables and Dana wondered when the two would be able to order. With the next waiter passing, Dana’s finger raised, ready to question but she was ultimately shut down by the Muggle. In front of them he placed a silver platter, before opening the lid to reveal bunches of fruit. A starter? ”Don’t expect me to throw the grapes into your mouth.” She said, looking up from the platter to her friend.

Vik quirked an eyebrow at Dana as she laughed at him and asked her ridiculous question. He should have expected it. "Excuse me, but even when I'm older, I am not going to be stuff. So no. I will not go by Viktor." Yes, he knew she was teasing, but he was answering honestly. He had absolutely no intention of going by Viktor. He fake glared at her when she said she wouldn't mind him calling her Knoxie. "I guess time will tell then," he muttered, somewhat darkly. Now he just wanted to call her that some time when he could embarrass her. What? She was the one teasing him first ... kind of.
"I didn't say wimpiest or most gallant," Vik argued, now starting to smirk. He knew that she'd always wanted to win one of their duels, but he never let her. It just wasn't in him to not give it his all and he wanted to make sure she could duel well. "Besides, I sweetly taught you how to be a better duelist so you can take care of yourself," he added. He grinned, chuckling when she said he was going to make her cry. Good. At least he knew he could get to her and that his friendship meant a lot to her. That was good to know.
Vik wrinkled his nose, nodding when she said she wasn't a fan of Greek food. In all honesty, he'd never tried it. It looked disgusting. But ... she wanted to try it. Vik sighed dramatically. "Fine. I'll give it a try for you," he agreed, looking down at the menu and trying to hide his distaste. Then the next thing he knew, there was fruit on the table in front of them. He snorted at Dana's teasing. "Oh, I expect nothing of the sort. In public at least," he teased with a wink as he reached forward to grab his own fruit. "Do you think we're going to get to order or that Blishwick did it for us?" Vik asked curiously.

COVERING HER MOUTH with her hand, Dana couldn’t help but snort. Dana wanted to believe him, knowing that even though his true name is Viktor and that every teacher within Hogwarts always referred to him as Vik…But that didn’t mean Dana wouldn’t go against his wishes, using the name that made him feel older. Waving her hand at his comment, the blonde let out a gentle chuckle. ”It’ll take a while before I get used to it. Give me a few weeks or so.”
Rolling her eyes, Dana raised her hand — a teasing sign that she was ignoring him. The blonde wished her non-verbal magic was as great as his own, then maybe she could send some form of a warning to him, maybe something to stir up his hair, or even the items before him. ”That’s what schooling in Hogwarts taught me actually.” She childishly retorted, sticking out her tongue in his direction shortly after. "You simply taught me that I'll never be better than you...And ways to protect myself so I'll thank you for that one day."
Dana wanted to laugh, but given their circumstances with the waiters sticking their noses up and wandering amongst their tables...A smile sufficed. "Don't judge it if you haven't tried it." Dana muttered. She had, didn't enjoy it but now, with the menu before them, the Knox knew it wouldn't hurt to give it another go. "I mean they gave us menu's so I hope we get to choose. But given the place we're in...I wouldn't be surprised if we don't."

Making Dana laugh was always one of those things that Vik was very proud of. It wasn’t really hard to get her to laugh or anything, but it was still fun. He liked making people laugh and smile. It was just one of those things about him that he couldn’t help. He shrugged, “Yeah, I probably won’t wait that long.” It wouldn’t be teasing if he only did it when she was ready.
He rolled his eyes at her retort. “Yeah, whatever. You know you learned more in your duels with me than in one week of class,” he teased. Really he didn’t know if that was true or not. He didn’t know how studious Dana had been when she was in school, but he couldn’t help the urge to tease her. She just made that come out in him. He laughed, “See? I taught you all the important stuff. Don’t fight against Vik, fight with him, and know how to protect yourself.” He smirked. Those were pretty good lessons to have taught her, so he was proud of himself. Even though he knew she would have learned that anyway. “What, you’re not going to thank me for it now? Why wait?” he teased.
Vik sneered a little, unable to help it as he looked over the menu. “I am. Can’t help it, but I’m judging this menu.” He didn’t have to try it to know he wouldn’t like it. This was exactly the sort of menu his adoptive parents would have put out at a party. He could eat it, that didn’t mean he’ll like it. After a moment he put down his menu. “Whatever. If I do have a choice, I’ll just ask them to bring me their favorite. Looking at the menu isn’t helping my appetite any.” Yes, Vik knew he was being a snob, but he didn’t really care.

DANA KNEW SHE COULD LAUGH at almost anything. It could be one of those simple Muggle videos of those silly little cats that would even have the blonde giggling away, (considering Dana loved cats and every little cute animal), but her friendship with Vik was based on a platform of challenges and lightheartedness, laughs were just an added bonus. Rolling her eyes yet again, a smile settled on her lips. ”I’ll expect your name calling within the next few days then.”
Brows quirked while her lips turned upwards in thought, especially at this comment. Vik always had a winning point in an argument, or a better stance in a duel…Which was always shown in the final result when he won…Every time. ”Okay sure.” She began, hands slapping down onto her knees. ”But classes taught me the importance of reciting…” Dana paused, lowering her town briefly. ”Spells correctly and the wand movement for a charm. As well as to never use…You know. m-a-g-ic…in public. Amongst the Muggles. Though, the Headmaster made that more clear than anyone.” She grinned. ”I know how to protect myself.” Dana added in, in a mumble. Or at least, she thought she knew how. Dana was always ready for a fight, almost against anyone. ”I’ll thank you when I actually defend myself against an unmerciful dark wizard who plays to destroy our home. If that ever happens anyway.”
Dana knew Vik was always quick to judge, especially since she was somewhat the same. The longer she stared into the menu, the more her uncertainty arose and faith slowly dropping, but she believed the Muggles had some fancy touch in their cooking. At his snob-like behaviour, the Knox rolled her eyes. While she lived a Middle/Upper-class life for most of her life, filled with benefits at home and meals to return to prepared by chefs and all, she didn’t enjoy all of the meals they had brought. ”I say we wait a bit.” She suggested, turning over her menu before pale eyes lifted, peering over the waiters once more. Soon enough, when Dana felt the confidence to even raise a finger to ask a question, more plates were scattered amongst them, revealing appetisers to share for the two of them.
Her nose rose, crinkling while her lips turned upwards. ”Why is there hummus…Isn’t that Arabic?” She murmured to Vik, watching as more and more platters were revealed, while the last one was left with a card. It was luckily closer to Dana than to Vik so thin fingers reached out prying it open. She scoffed at the result, handing it over to Vik to have a look. ”A special treat from Blishwick.”

Vik merely nodded when she said that she'd expect him to start calling her names. Good. That meant that he could tease her, and try and take her by surprise by not using the nickname when she expected it. That could be fun. He just had to figure out how to do it just right. Shouldn't be too hard. Vik was good at that sort of thing.
She grew serious, explaining that classes taught her important things about magic. He chuckled at how she lowered her voice and spelled the word magic instead of saying it. Didn't she know that her behavior now was more suspect than just talking about it outright? Apparently not. He smirked. "You know, I use magic in front of muggles all the time," he told her in a normal voice. The waiter came by, filling his glass and Vik nodded to him. "They're a lot more oblivious than you'd think." They didn't want to believe in magic, so they'd explain away almost anything. He frowned at her next comment, "I really hope you don't have to do that. I'd much rather you defend yourself against some stupid mugger or something," Vik answered. He didn't like to think of the people he cared about being placed in danger.
Dana insisted they at least wait for a bit before ditching this place and Vik made a face, scrunching his nose at her. He was not excited about this place or the food they served, but since Dana was his date, he'd respect her wishes. The fact that he didn't have to pay for it either definitely helped. He wouldn't want to pay for something like this. Not unless he absolutely had to. He let her take the lead, rolling his eyes when she asked about the hummus. "This place is all sorts of weird, and you're only commenting on the hummus?" he muttered back, eyeing the food that waiters brought to them. He laughed when she read the card to him. "Of course. Blishwick ordered out food," he said with a roll of his eyes. "Next time we get those, can we just go on a friend date and not have to put up with all this?" Vik asked, laughing a little. That would definitely be easier.

FROM THE REVEAL, DANA'S EYES widened in surprise. In front of Muggles? Surely she heard him right. She was so used to the strict laws imposed from Hogwarts that she had never used magic amongst the mere folk. Okay, once or twice was the honest truth but it would never hurt anyone. The blonde shook her head in disagreement, raising her glass shortly after the walter poured more water for her. "How can you speak so-" She cut herself off to murmur now, even leaning forward to get the point across. "Freely? As if they truly aren't listening?" A sigh left her lips now as she sat back, a pale hand rising, ensuring it didn't smudge any of the makeup amongst her brows that she spent so much time on. "They're too curious for my likings. I know because I thought I was one for eleven years."
It was true, her pureblood mother had kept the secret to save the marriage alongside Dana's muggle father, but had no idea why she done so. A muggle had no power over a pureblood as cruel as it seemed, but in the wizarding world it was true. It was reasons like that she avoided the Muggles, refused to socialise amongst them, fall in love or even fall back to their simple lifestyle. Magic tore her family apart and now it was the only thing she had left. At his frown and comments, Dana forced a smile, her hand reaching forward, sending him a reassuring squeeze. "I hope nothing of the sort happens. But I'll probably use magic then against a dark wizard or a dumb mugger."
Laughing again at his facial expression and even his words, she sent him a shrug. "The poor hummus doesn't deserve to be here, in such an odd place." The discovery that Blishwick had ordered the food didn't come as a surprise, considering who the man was exactly. "Absolutely. How about we put that friendly date in action now?" She suggested, implying that they ditch the place.

Vik laughed hard at the look on Dana's face. Her expression was priceless and he couldn't help it. Of course she was one of those witches that never used her magic in public. Why should he be surprised? She started asking how he could speak so freely and Vik shrugged. "I know muggles. I lived among them for years too, and I lived among the streets. Learned a lot there. People see what they want to. Especially when what they really see doesn't make sense. Muggles find ways to explain things away." He didn't bother lowering his voice. The people here were so focused and no one was even around or paying attention to them. He shrugged, "Yeah they're curious. You just have to be smart about who you use magic around." Vik was really good at spotting the smart ones who would see magic for what it really was.
He nodded when she said she hoped nothing like that happened. "Good. Just make sure you keep practicing so you can actually take care of yourself." She was a friend and Vik definitely didn't want anything to happen to her.
He shook his head mournfully as she agreed with him, talking about the hummus. Really, this place made no sense. At her next words he looked up at her, his eyes alight with hope. "Are you serious? Right now?" He asked, the hint of a grin on his face. He wanted to get out of here. They could have much more fun on their own, anywhere else really.

SHOCKED AND IN DISBELIEF, DANA’S lips pressed together at the sound of her friend’s laughter. Of course he would find something like this funny. Even when it was millions of miles from that. Even if it were true, that he had lived beside them for years, it didn’t mean that Dana’s claims were anything but wrong. Muggles were too curious about things, always wanting to discover more and find the next shinest thing. And the Knox knew one day, magic would fill that section. ”So if something magically appeared before then, you believe they wouldn’t question it? Try to find a source and work into it?” Ridiculous. Vik couldn’t of thought that way. In the midst of her speech, she realised how quiet she was speaking and how…normally loud he was, only leading to the blonde lifting a hand to face palm herself once more. ”Does that…Even make sense?” She said, stifling out a laugh in question. Dana avoided using magic in public anyway, there was no need for it.
Forcing up a smile, Dana was glad the conversation had moved on, landing on the topic of ditching the place. ”Right now.” She parroted, pushing back her seat and standing, putting the napkin that covered her lap onto the table. ”Let’s go.” She said, patting his arm and already making her way out towards the exit. Considering where the restaurant was, all the blonde wanted — craved for — was simple fresh air. Even a take-out styled meal would have been great, a lot better than the mess they originally found themselves in.
@vik & you can end with your response! like a fade to black moment!

Vik shrugged at Dana's disbelieving question, waiting until she was finished before he answered her. "Yeah, you're making sense," he confirmed with a nod. "Honestly it depends on what. I'm not saying they won't notice blatant magic, but if you're smart with it, they normally just blame a trick of the light or say they had deja-vu or something." At least, that's what he'd noticed from his time among them. "I wouldn't conjure stuff in front of them, but small magic is fun." He smirked. "Sometimes it's fun to mess a little bit with people's minds." What? He did it to witches and wizards just as much as he did with muggles. He liked to trick them and make them think they saw something other than the truth. He liked to see the confusion on their faces. He grinned when she said they should leave right now. Thank goodness! Vik was more than ready to get out of the place. He was right beside her as she stood and made her way out of the place. "Okay, then prepare yourself for a night of fun times and good food, even if we don't get it for free," Vik promised with a small roll of his eyes and a smirk. Once they were outside the restaurant, he pulled her to an alleyway and apparated close to one of his favorite clubs. It had good food, good music, and if they wanted to leave once they were done eating, he'd take Dana somewhere else. Vik was just ready for a good time tonight. --- the end --- @dana
