Jamie moved closer to him, explaining her idea about trying to keep the dragon's focus divided. "Good idea. I'll stay to the left if you want to go to the right," he suggested. He took a few steps away from her, not enough that the dragon would disregard him entirely, but enough that it couldn't look at both of them at the same time. He shot a spell at the dragon to try and get its attention, and annoy it a little bit. The dragon looked at him, it seemed to be glaring and Vik swallowed nervously, starting to move to the left, hopefully out of its way.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw red sparks. Jamie. The dragon turned its attention to her and Vik took a few more steps in the other direction before creating a loud banging sound. The dragon moved its attention back to him. Oooh, it wasn't going to take long before the creature started attacking both of them. Hopefully the team of wizards wouldn't take too long now, or both he and Jamie would be in big trouble.

Jamie probably shouldn’t have been as surprised as she was the plan was working. It made sense, logically – it should have worked. Maybe it was more relief than shock, Jamie thought as she began waving her wand again. It wasn’t difficult for her to cast her Patronus under stress, not when she was at the source of so many of her happy memories. The silver canine loped out of the tip of her wand, and the glittering animal caught the dragon’s eye. It was even better, because the Patronus didn’t lead back directly to Jamie, and she likely wouldn’t get hurt.
Just as the silver wild dog was fading, the team of wizards storming down the street reached them, and they quickly became the bigger threat to the dragon. It seemed like Jamie and Viktor were both in the clear.

Vik was definitely taken by surprise when he saw Jamie cast a silver animal. A patronus. The dragon started paying attention to the creature instead of both of them, which Vik considered a good thing. Who knew how long either of them would be able to last. Hopefully until reinforcements came, but no one knew.
He noticed when the patronus started to fade and began to shoot stunning spells at the dragon, right as a team of wizards arrived. They took charge, firing at the dragon all at the same time. He tried to help, aiming for the dragon's eyes in an attempt to bring it down. There was more safety, in numbers, that was for sure.
After a few minutes it seemed like they had everything under control. Vik made his way over to Jamie, smiling at her. "Nice job with that patronus," he complimented her. Really, he had been impressed by her idea. It distracted the dragon long enough to keep them safe while they waited for the others to arrive. "How are you feeling?" he asked. Personally, he was a little shaky, but he didn't really want her (or anyone else for that matter) to be able to tell.

Instead of stepping in to help the team of wizards that came to take down the dragon, Jamie stepped away. She didn’t know what they were doing and she was worried she would get in the way if she tried to help – or worse, end up hurting someone. If there was anything today had proved, it was that her aim wasn’t as good as it used to be.
When he was done helping the wizards, Vik made his way over to her. “Thanks,” Jamie breathed when he congratulated her on her Patronus. “I always think they’re distracting when I see one sending a message or something, so I thought a dragon would too.” Especially because a dragon likely saw fewer Patroni than Jamie did – it wasn’t like they had a purpose on dragon reserves. “My shoulder’s a little messed up,” Jamie answered, rolling it around in its socket to try to identify the source of the pain. “But I’ve had worse. It’ll heal up eventually.” Besides, she worked at an apothecary now – pain potions were easy to come by. “What about you?”

Vik nodded as Jamie explained her reasoning with the Patronus. It really was a clever idea and he was quite impressed she came up with it. He chuckled, "Seems like you can read dragons better than me. All I could think to do was keep trying to hit its eyes with one of those spells." Which actually hadn't been super effective, but that was okay.
She mentioned that her shoulder hurt and Vik frowned a bit. "If you wanted, I'm pretty sure there are a few healers about," Vik suggested, though at the same time he had a feeling she wouldn't really be interested in seeing a healer, which made him more curious to see if he was right about her or not. He shrugged when she turned the question to him. "I'm fine. Don't feel anything that's hurting yet, but maybe that's the adrenaline." He moved around for a second, trying to sense if there was any pain. So far, nothing, which he was glad for.
