Kinsey was more nervous than she realized when she waited for him to say if he had other plans for the day. Didn't he? Wouldn't someone as awesome as him have other things going on? Unless he wanted to just be with her, like she did with him. She was overthinking this. Kinsey told herself to stop, but then Riley was talking, answering her. "Perfect! So you want to spend all day with me?" She asked with a smile, feeling relieved now that she didn't have to worry about all the things she was worrying about seconds ago. She took another bite of her croissant. She was almost done with it now. "You do?! Awesome! So where are we going to start? You choose, since you know what we're getting ourselves into." She downed the rest of her food, holding the warm wassail cup in her hand.

“I’m all yours.” he nodded when she asked if he was going to spend the whole day with her, he wished that those words would hold more meaning, and in a way, they did. But for now, he thought back to the way he was thinking this morning, at least they were friends. He was happy to have her in his life someway, it was okay that it wasn’t the way that he wanted. At least she was still there. “Well why don’t we start with the ice skating first, that way I can make a fool of myself early, get it out of the way for the rest of the fun later.” he suggested. “Whenever you’re ready.” he told her, finishing his drink.

She loved how it sounded when Riley said that he was all hers. She knew he didn't mean it the way she wanted him to, but this was okay. For now, she'd take what she could get, a day with Riley. "Sounds good to me," she agreed, taking another sip of her drink. She was almost done with it now and she was excited to start her day with Riley. She laughed when he suggested that they should go ice skating. "That sounds great!" Kinsey paused for a second. "Have you ever gone skating before? I ... haven't ..." Kinsey hadn't really done a lot of things, but she was excited to try it out with Riley. She would try anything with him. Then she jumped to her feet, "I'm ready!" Kinsey quickly finished her last swallow and smiled up at him.

The Ravenclaw boy nodded his head when the girl sitting next to him asked if he had ever been skating before. “Yeah I’ve gone a few times. It’s one of the things we’re allowed to do when my family goes traveling to the mountains, we’ve gone a few times.” he could remember skating with Lydia, before any of this was even a real thought in his mind. It was so weird. He used to feel like he was so close to Lydia, how quickly everything had changed. “I wouldn’t say I’m very good at it though…” he was being humble, actually, he was quite good, well, he was alright. He rarely fell anymore, and he was even decent at a few tricks, though, he hadn’t skated since the summer when they were in Switzerland. “It’s easy if you know how to keep your balance.” he told her. She finished her breakfast and insisted that she was ready to go. He stood up, took their trash and threw it away for them before leading the way to the rink at the start of town that they had passed by on their way in. There were already a few people there, skating around calmly. The two of them got boots and Riley sat down on a bench just outside the entrance to the rink to lace up.

Riley said that he'd been a few times, that he went with his family and Kinsey felt relieved. Even if he wasn't super good, at least it wouldn't be both of them falling down, or pulling the other down with them. Wait ... would it? She turned to Riley when he said he wasn't very good. "How not good are you? Are they going to have to drag us off the ice because neither of us can stand?" Kinsey wasn't really nervous about it, at least not at first. Now she was starting to feel slightly anxious. Surely Riley wouldn't want to do something that he was terrible at. Hopefully he wouldn't mind if she was terrible. Kinsey had no idea how well or poorly she might do. He mentioned that it wasn't bad if one could balance and Kinsey latched onto that. "Balance? Okay, I'm pretty good at balancing." She did well enough on a broom and when she was walking on the curb. How different could it be, really? He took her trash and led her to the rink. Kinsey sat down, putting on the skate and glancing at Riley to see how he was lacing it up. Was he doing it tight or just kind of normal? She started messing with her own shoelaces, still not quite sure what she was doing, but trying to pretend like it wasn't new to her. "I'm ready when you are," she said, not even trying to stand up yet. She was starting to feel nervous again. Maybe letting Riley help her up would be a good idea.

Riley could tell that Kinsey was bit nervous and a bit skeptical of him saying that he wasn’t good, he shrugged when she asked how not good he was, “Oh, I’m sure we’ll be fine.” he insisted. He was competent though to keep himself on his feet, and he was sure that he could help to support Kinsey too until she got the hang of it. They both got their boots laced up and Kinsey told him that she was ready when he was. He finished tying the knot on his laces and then nodded, standing up on the skates. He reached his hand out for her to take, knowing that it was going to be hard for her to stand on the blades of metal that were now under her feet. “Just walk like normal until we get on the ice. Then you glide.” he told her. There was no use trying to glide on the carpet leading to the entrance to the rink. He took is slowly with her and stepped on the ice before she did, not swaying at all, having his balance already. He was definitely better than he’d let on. “Just take it slowly.” he smirked, still holding onto her.

Riley didn't seemed to be worried at all about their ice skating. Maybe he wasn't as bad as he said ... or maybe ice skating just wasn't super hard. She smiled, nodding when he said they would be fine. His intentions were entirely sincere, which was definitely a relief for her. Kinsey trusted him. If he said they would be fine, she believed him. Somehow, she finished tying up the laces for her ice skates before Riley did. She watched him finish and let him stand up first. He extended his hand and Kinsey took it as she stood up. She wobbled a little and her hand tightened around his automatically. She laughed softly at his instructions. "Walk like normal? Is that possible with huge pieces of metal attached to your foot?" Kinsey was maybe being a bit dramatic, but she did the opposite of her words, starting to walk slowly beside him. She swayed and wobbles a little as they continued, but it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Then again, they weren't on the ice yet. Riley transferred to the ice, acting like it was no big deal and Kinsey stepped out hesitantly. Her foot slid a little further than she expected and she squealed as she quickly picked her other foot up off the carpet so it wouldn't drag her to the ground. Her one hand was holding Riley's still, while her other somehow took hold of his arm to try and keep herself from falling. "It's a good thing you seem to have your balance," she told him once her wobbling stopped. She lowered her other foot. "Okay, so I'm just supposed to glide?" Kinsey asked, trying to clarify.

Riley laughed when kinsey countered his instructions. He knew that it seemed really odd for people who had never done this sort of thing before. It was something to get used to and something that required practice. It wasn’t something he expected her to get or be comfortable with right away, but he did hope that she would enjoy it. He didn’t want to waste her time with something she ended up hating, especially since it was something that he did enjoy, even if he didn’t get to do it often. “It’s possible.” he teased her, but he continued to support her as she stepped on the ice. One of her feet slipped forward and she grabbed him to keep her balance. He set his free hand on her back to stabilize her. “I’ve done this a few times.” he reminded her with a wink when she commented on his having his balance. “You’ll get it, it all just takes practice.” he promised, nodding when she asked if she should try to glide. “You can lift your feet to get you started, but once you’ve got some speed, gliding is the goal.” he told her, wondering if he was explaining it well.

Riley told her that it was possible to walk like normal and Kinsey made a face at him. She knew he was teasing her. If she knew what she was doing and he didn't, she would definitely do the same. It was much nicer to be able to tease one another like this than have to talk about how they couldn't be together. She much preferred this. All Kinsey wanted was to enjoy her time with Riley while she could. Her breath caught when she felt his hand on her back. She nodded when he told her that she'd get it. "You think I might be able to feel comfortable today?" Kinsey always wanted to ice skate. She'd seen movies with ice skating and the Olympics and such ... it always seemed so fancy and fun. She'd always wanted to try. She laughed when he told her that lifting her feet would help her go faster. "You think I want to go fast?" Kinsey asked, still laughing. "What if you help us move for the first little bit, and once I don't feel like I'm going to fall on my face, I'll start trying for - ooooh!" She squealed as someone skating past her brushed her, throwing her off balance. Suddenly her feet were going each which way. Kinsey scrambled to grab Riley again, but she could already feel herself falling toward the ice.

Riley couldn’t help but laugh at the little bouts of Sass that the girl whom she loved was giving him. Kinsey had a good personality and a nice sense of humor and he loved when he was able to see it come out in her. Like this. He knew that this was definitely out of her comfort zone, but here she was doing it with him. He appreciated that about her, at least she was willing to try. “We’ll just take it slow and yeah I’ll try to hold on to…” he spoke as another person who obviously knew what they were doing rushed past them and Kinsey began to slide around and fell to the ground. He couldn’t help but laugh a little when she hit the ice, but he squatted down next to her and offered her his hands to help her back to her feet. “Sorry, it’s not funny.” he insisted, but his eyes were still lit up with laughter. “I’ll hold onto you until you get it.” he promised. “We’ll stick to the edges.” he added.

He told her that she could take it slow- like he could stop her- and Kinsey nodded as she took a deep breath. She'd barely started skating at all, really Riley was pulling her around at this point, but she could already tell that she liked the feel of her skates gliding on the ice. If she was able to figure out balancing, she had a feeling that ice skating could be one of those things she really enjoyed. She just had to figure out the balance. Unfortunately for her, finding one's balance wasn't particularly easy when someone else hurried past.
The next thing Kinsey knew she was sitting on the ground, looking up at Riley in surprise as he laughed. She hadn't really expected him to catch her ... but she had and now here she was on the cold ice. He squatted next to her, still smiling and Kinsey rolled her eyes, "Yes it is," she told him, taking his hand to help herself up. She gave him a fake glare, deciding to tease him since he'd just been laughing at her. It was fair! "Yeah yeah, you'll hold onto me unless it looks like I'm going to fall again. I see how it is," she said loftily, trying to direct herself closer to an edge. Maybe if she was closer to an edge people wouldn't skate so close to her. The good thing was, she felt like she was starting to get the hang of the balance. She was still holding Riley's hand, but her grip was looser now. She tested herself, lifting one foot ever so slightly to try and push herself a little faster. It worked! And she wasn't even wobbling yet!

“I promise I won’t let you fall again.” he insisted. And he meant it for as far as he could help. He held onto her waist as they skated around on the ice. Though he couldn’t help but laugh every time that she slipped, he kept his word and kept her upright. Once they had gotten tired and he could see that Kinsey had had enough, he helped her back off the ice and over to the bench where they sat to unlace their boots and put their own shoes back on. “So what did you think? How was your first adventure in ice skating?” he asked.

Kinsey actually really enjoyed the skating. First of all, once she got used to the balance thing, it was a cool sensation, sliding across the ice. Apart from that, Riley kept his promise and didn't let her fall. He held her around the waist and Kinsey loved how it felt, though she really tried to not think about that. The time seemed to speed by as they went around the rink repeatedly. After a while he led her over to the edge and helped her get back to a bench. Kinsey was unlacing her boots, but smiled as he asked what she thought. "I really liked it! I definitely want to do it again. I think that I could probably get good enough at it that I could skate on my own ... I'd just need to practice a little." She looked over at Riley. "What did you think? Having to keep me from falling all over the place?" Kinsey teased. She couldn't help it. Besides that, she thought her teasing would probably help him smile, which she definitely wanted.

She liked it, and he was glad to hear it. He wanted her to like it because he was something that he liked, but, he wasn’t sure if they would ever be able to do it together again. “I thought it was a great time. It was nice to be able to take it slower and just enjoy it rather than rush around trying to do tricks or something.” that was what he normally would do if he went skating, or at least, went when he was somewhere with his family. Keeping an idle mind around the Fudge family meant having to think about and hear everything that they were saying. And Riley didn’t care much for the things that they said. “So what do you want to do next?” he asked while standing after tying up his shoes. “Your pick.” he decided.

She smiled when Riley admitted that he enjoyed ice skating with her as well. He explained that it was nice to be able to go slower and enjoy it instead of doing tricks and her eyes widened. "You can do tricks? And you didn't show me! You were holding back!" she accused, laughing as she pointed over at him. She wasn't too upset, but she was curious. "What kind of tricks do you do?" Kinsey finished taking off the skates, putting her own boots back on with a smile. He asked her what she wanted to do and Kinsey thought about it for a moment. "Do you want to try the carriage ride? I've never done one of those before either." Realistically, there were a lot of things Kinsey hadn't ever done, because of her desire to avoid crowds. She chose the carriage ride because the London Eye was kind of like a ferris wheel, so she'd done something similar. Also, she wanted to get off of her feet for a minute.
