Anastasia wasn’t really digging this whole ‘Festival’ thing. But her father and her lovely stepmother insisted they come as a family. All the MacFusty’s on some grand family outing, or family bonding experience.... Some nonsense like that. IT was all a load of shit, regardless. THere wasn’t much ‘bonding’ going on. Unless you counted Anastasia lazily following her father and step mother around as they window shopped for more little toys and trinkets for Diane. Despite being Anastasia’s sister, she was not a family of the toddler. In fact, quite resented the toddler if she was being honest. But alas, Anastasia was not that honest with others. Anastasia’s brother and other sister had wandered off at some point, but each time Anastasia tried she got wrangled back in.
At some point, and to her extreme disgust and dismay, Diane, bundled up like a marshmallow and shrieking like a banshee, was thrust into her arms by her step mother. ”Watch her, she’d ruin everything in this shop.” her step mother snapped, her father already inside the small temporary shop filled with crystal ornaments. ”Hariette-“ Anastasia started, but it was too late, the woman had stormed into the shop, leaving Anastasia with the screaming toddler.
With a heavy groan Anastasia moved to a bench and set the toddler down, who continued her wails. ”It’s just for a minute! I don’t like this either, but they’ll be back soon. Just, shut up for a minute, please?” Obviously, telling a toddler to shut up wasn’t the great tactic, nor did it stop Diane’s shrieks. And Anastasia looked like a deer in headlines/
(Figured we could do something a bit random and give them a few posts before the dragons come )

Toby was at the Hogsmeade Winter Festival thing with his sisters. Honestly, he didn't really want to go. Really. He was happy staying at home and doing nothing during holiday, but his parents said that his sisters couldn't go unless if he went with them. It made him feel too guilty to keep them away from the festivities, so he agreed to spend a few hours in the afternoon. Maybe he'd get a new book or something while he was there.
As soon as he and his sisters had arrived at Hogsmeade, they separated. Toby was glad because he liked to wander around Flourish and Blotts on his own, but he was already regretting not telling them a meet up time.
Toby wandered the cobble stone walkway, admiring the decorations and people watching. After a couple of minutes, Toby heard a baby crying. At first he could have sworn it was a bleating goat, but alas, it was a fussy infant dressed as a festive marshmallow. Toby chuckled to himself at the sight, until he realized who was accompanying the screaming banshee. Anastasia MacFusty. Toby froze for a split second, but the deer in headlights look on the girl of his dreams' face almost made him feel bad. As soon as he saw her face, he thought of Kinsey, and their stupid fight, but the helpless look on Anastasia's face really made him want to help. For some reason he always wanted to help her like a freaking selfless idiot.
Toby only took a brief moment of consideration before he turned on the heel of his foot, and marched over to the benches where Anastasia and the banshee were at. He stopped directly beside Anastasia, "Hey Anastasia," Toby greeted with a smile. His head cocked to the side with a raised brow as his eyes shifted to the wailing marshmallow, "You ladies look like you're having a grand ol' time..." he stated dryly, his lips curling upwards before jokingly asking. "Is this one yours?" More to see what she would say. Toby knew damn well it wasn't her baby. He had been obsessing over her for years he probably would have noticed that bump...right...?

Diane's cries were like fingernails on a chalkboard, grating. Anastasia, who'd never had much experience with baby humans until her father decided to knock up his new wife. And then, being at Hogwarts nine or more months of the year meant she had little exposure to her new born sister. Somehow, and she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing, someone appeared at her side. Someone she'd been getting to know better and better this school year but Anastasia wasn't sure what you'd even call their 'relationship'. It wasn't acquaintances anymore, but it wasn't really friends either. Either way, she let out a heavy groan, rubbing the sides of her temple. "She won't stop crying." She admitted, finally looking over at the Ravenclaw.
Despite the bleakness of the situation, Tobias' question, of if the child was hers, managed to rouse a snort, her laughter held back but her smile un-hideable. "No, Merlin no." She answered, the child still crying. "It's, ah... Well she's my sister. Half sister." She finished, unable to stop herself from emphasizing the 'half sister' part. It was odd, mentioning her family to him. Anastasia wasn't the sort to discuss her home life even with her friends. "They wouldn't take her in that bloody store, so I'm stuck with her." She waved an arm blindly at the shop, one that was sporting many delicate ornaments. It definitely wasn't child friendly.

Toby was kind of expecting that sort of answer from Anastasia, but he loved when she snorted with a smile. Not a big smile or anything, but he saw it, and he made it happen. That alone was enough to cause him to smile and snort. Anastasia looked completely over it when she explained that the baby wouldn't stop crying. She called her step-sister an 'It', before correcting herself. Toby blinked at the toddler wailing on the bench, the screams were already ringing in his ears. The sound of screaming babies was all too familiar in his household. Growing up, his little sisters were really fussy babies, so he felt like he knew what to do in this situation. His head cocked to the side as he assessed the situation before him. "She probably just wants to be held.." He stated clinically, quirking an eye brow at her.
With only a tad bit of hesitance, he took a step forward. "Or, I think I could help..." Toby stated, rubbing his hands together animatedly before dorkily sashaying over to the bench with the wailing child. He crouched down on one knee slowly so that he could be more eye level with the screaming marshmallow. His brown eyes widened to large saucers, "I know, I knoooow, it's not fair...you wanna go in the store with all the miscellaneous breakable, sharp objects, but you cannot..." He cooed jokingly, looking at the baby expectantly with a goofy expression, consisting of crossing his eye balls and blowing a raspberry. He added more for dramatic effect, pulling his ears out and wiggling them around. Toby had no idea if goofy faces and baby talk would work on this infant, but he was willing to give it a shot. Distractions worked pretty well if he remembered correctly. Hell, Anastasia sure didn't look like she knew what she was doing, so he was happy to give it a shot for her.
