Dan didn't pay attention to where she was leading him and didn't even see her look back at him due to his eyes being closed. They arrived at the booth and he sat down before opening his eyes. He opened his mouth to apologize for making her lead him blind like that, but she slipped away quickly to get their drinks. He sensed her return before he saw it. He opened is eyes to take his butterbeer and sip it while she talked about second year and Edrik. He laughed, too. 'Well, I'm glad you didn't tell him. He doesn't need to hold that over your head or add to his ego," he joked, taking another long sip He stopped it quickly, swallowing as another thought came to mind, "It's not really popular in Germany but this really is the best I've had. I can see why the kids like it," he nodded toward the pub, where all the underage wizards at the festival were chugging it, by the gallon it seemed, like it was some recreational drug. Irina chuckled. “No, we mustn’t feed Ed’s ego, it’s big enough already,” she agreed, shaking her head fondly. She loved her brother dearly, but they had been the fiercest of rivals when they were younger. She had been better on a broomstick than he had been, at least back then, and he had always harbored some resentment over it. She had helped him gain his spot on the Quidditch team, though it had taken him some time to realize what she had been doing. Both the elder Krum siblings were fiercely competitive with each other, and though they were older now, that edge of rivalry would always be there. “Really? What do they drink in Germany?” she asked, racking her brain to remember if her parents ever talked about the popular drink for kids at Durmstrang and came up empty. She took another sip and glanced around as people slammed down their tankards and got up to leave. “Looks like the lunch rush is almost over, the place will be quieting down in a little while,” she said, looking back over to him in understanding. This many people meant a ton of emotions of all kinds, which couldn’t be easy for him to deal with. @daniel

Dan nodded as she said they should fed her brothers ego. He could argue that Irina was similar in some respects, at least the enjoying being right thing, but he didn't say it. He just laughed. Then she asked what was more popular in Germany and he grinned, "cocoa-weizen for the kids, real hefeweizen for the adults," he answered. "It's a wheat beer, but the kid version is basically... like drinking hot cocoa," he laughed. "But it's different... it's German," he said proudly. She said it was going to slow down soon and he shrugged, "I'm alright. Got you and all," he nodded toward her. Still, he'd be glad when there were less people around, he always was. "We could always stay the night if there are any rooms left," he started out speaking casually but then his voice got tight. They had only been in a room here one time before... "Or not, I'm just saying, since we're here -"Irina Rose Krum

“Mmm, Cocoa-weizen sounds good, I’ll pass on the hefeweizen though. At least not until we visit Germany,” Irina said decidedly. She was far more of a fan of chocolate than beer, or alcohol in general. She’d had wine and champagne and didn’t mind the taste so much, but real beer tasted stale in her mouth. “You Germans are a proud lot,” she told him with a laugh; her mother was the same way. She never pushed them to visit Germany oddly enough, but she proudly celebrated German Unity Day every October, with plates upon plates of German cuisine. “You should come next year to the Unity Day dinner, mother always makes far too much food for a family of six to enjoy by themselves,” she suggested with a smile. Dan’s next suggestion came in the midst of a sip of butterbeer, and Irina almost choked on the drink. “Really?” she asked, mildly surprised he would be so bold to suggest that. Not that they hadn’t reached that point in their relationship; indeed she had suggested the same thing a year ago when they came to help decorate the pub for the holidays. Still, after everything, Irina was in no hurry to push Dan to a point where he felt uncomfortable. “I suppose my roommates could live without me for a night,” she said, a sly smile playing at her lips. “If there is a room available of course.”@daniel

She said it sounded good, but that she'd prefer the kids drink. At least until they visited. He chuckled, "fine with me. It's all better there anyway," he assured her. She stated that Germans were a proud lot and he nodded, a little scoff escaping his lips. "Yeaaahh, that's not news," he agreed. She suggested he go for the Unity Day dinner with them, and Dan pursed his lips to the side in thought. "That's a great idea. Though, don't tell her I'm coming. She knows I eat a lot and then she'll make extra. It'll be chaos," he laughed. She almost choked on her drink at his suggestion, and his eyes widened. She said her roommates could live without her for a night, and he blinked, nodding, "yeah, yeah I mean they'll be fine," he suggested. His roommate, Maria, was planning to move out at the first of the year, which would be nice for him... and for Irina and him, really. "Let's uh... drink first, then ask?" he was a smooth guy, for sure. Irina Rose Krum

Irina rolled her eyes but smiled. "Alright, but when she scolds me for not telling her, I'm placing the blame square on your shoulders," she agreed, poking him on the shoulder. Her mother loved Daniel like a second son, but she liked to be prepared for everything. "You can always take leftovers home with you for after those long harrowing days of Quiidditch practice," she addded teasingly. Well, that settled that. Dan seemed a bit nervous, but he wouldn't have suggested the idea if he really hadn't wanted to. A warm feeling that had nothing to do with the butterbeer filled her,, and her smiile widened a bit before relaxing. "A toast then, to the holiday spirit," she toasted, raising her tankard to meet his. @daniel

She suggested that she'd blame him if her mother gave him a scolding and he nodded, leaning away from her poke as if she'd pushed much harder than she actually did. He reached a hand over to rub his shoulder too, to add a layer of drama. "Fine, I'll take it. I'll also take the leftovers." He nodded at her toast, clanking their tankards together before bringing it back and taking a small sip. It was good, but since they had been taking about it, it did make him wish he was drinking in Germany. After another few sips, he frowned a little, turning to look at a group of people behind him. Then he turned back to Irina. "Someone over there is feeling really excited about something. But also nervous. It's driving me crazy," he held a hand up, showing her that it was shaking. Then, suddenly, one of the dudes at the table got down on one knee in front of a girl, but Dan had his back to her, so when he was suddenly slammed with the emotions of everyone in the bar anticipating the proposal he spit out the sip he was trying to take. Irina turned around curiously, following Dan’s gaze towards a couple closer to the front of the pub. She took his shaking hand and entwined her fingers with his. “Perhaps he got her a really good Christmas present and he’s dying for her to open it,” she suggested, still watching the couple but keeping Dan in her peripheral vision. If something big was about to happen, they’d have to make a quick exit, and they hadn’t inquired about a room just yet. Irina turned out to be correct; it was a proposal for a Christmas present. Irina thought the sentiment was very sweet, and Hogsmeade was a wonderful place for lovers to get engaged - especially if they’d fallen in love at Hogwarts. She smiled as everyone started cheering for the couple, but it faded quickly when she saw Dan spit out her drink. “Come with me,” she said, pulling at his hand as she forced her way through the bar kitchen and out back to a small alleyway where all the trash cans are. She turned and put both her hands on his shoulders, rubbing them gently in a calming way. “Just breathe, it’ll all come down soon,” she promised, not letting their eye contact break. It was similar to a panic attack, which she had seen many of in the following days of the Purifiers attack at Hogwarts, and she hoped that what she was doing was being helpful to Dan now. "I'm here, I'm right here with you," she added softly. @daniel

Irina took his hand and for just a second he felt a little better, and he nodded about the idea of it being a Christmas present, hoping it was a really mediocre one. After he spit out his drink, she immediately pulled on his hand and he followed, feeling a little nauseated. He looked to the couple just in time to see the dude slipping a ring on her fingers, her eyes welled with happy tears. He felt his eyes moisten too, not of his own decision. But suddenly they were outside and he caught his breath. She started to run his shoulders and he attempted to lean against the wall, bent over slightly so he wouldn't smash her hands. She kept eye contact with him but after a few moments he closed his eyes, bowing his head down and shaking it. "Why do proposals gotta be such a surprise. Can't people just casually decide to get married?" he suggested, breathless. He opened his eyes again and straightened up, breathing in through his nose. "It's fine, I'll be fine," he tried for a smile, "you're quick witted. Sure you weren't in that bird house?"Irina Rose Krum

Irina chuckled lightly. “I think most couples usually have a conversation about marriage sometime in their relationship. But everyone has to outdo one another when it comes to the actual proposal,” she mused. Thankfully where she worked, Gringotts, they weren’t exactly in a prime location that screamed surprise proposal. Proposing during Quidditch matches however was quite common, and Irina considered it a blessing that Dan’s focus was so much into the game that he usually was able to tune that out. “Personally, I’d rather be at home, with a dog preferably in the picture, and it coming up organically from a place of love, and maybe a little surprise,” she said out loud, then blushed lightly. “ Not that I’m expecting anything,” she said quickly, releasing her hands from his shoulders and letting them swing at her sides. “No, I was definitely a Gryffindor. I don’t think the Sorting Hat took more than five seconds on me before shouting it out to the very crowded Great Hall. You would be a Ravenclaw I imagine though, or perhaps a Slytherin,” she said, then giggled mischievously. “Although with your big caring heart lately, maybe you would have been a Hufflepuff,” she added with a grin. @daniel

Irina spoke about proposals, stating that most knew it was coming. Sure, sure that was true. He could only imagine the reaction if he and Ri ever told their families they were getting married. He'd have to lock himself in a closet for a week. Due to the emotions and Viktors most likely plan to kill him. He nodded when she suggested what'd she'd prefer. "Like with a ring attached to the collar?" he teased, but she let him go and blushed. It was an odd topic for them, for sure. With their history it was probably hard for Irina to expect anything. Dan definitely wasn't ready. Thankfully, she wasn't one to push that. "The wedding itself would have to be pretty small for me, I'd say. I'd skip out on the party," he half joked. She tried to guess his house, teasing him, and he shook his head. "Definitely a Slytherin. Can't you see the ambition just shooting out of my ears?"Irina Rose Krum

“Ooooh I hadn’t even thought of that, but yes that’d be cute. Especially if the dog was one adopted and raised by both partners, so there's that special connection there,” she said eagerly, then laughed at his next reaction. “Always the option of eloping. In the middle of the woods, on a glacier, I bet possibilities are endless when it comes to wizarding elopements,” she conceded with a chuckle. It wasn’t as if Irina expected a ring on her finger anytime in the near future; Anna and Oscar may have been ready to take the plunge but her and Dans’ relationship was...complicated, emotionally. Sure they had known each other their entire lives, but there was a lot involved in creating a marriage that would be forever. Irina had, of course, thought about marriage and what she’d like in a wedding, but she wasn’t impatient about it. Where they were was perfect for them right now, and whatever happened would happen. Wanting to get away from the topic, Irina shook her head with a smile. “Well you were ambitious enough to get into the Triwizard selection, and you made it onto an All Star Quidditch team,” she told him, nudging him with her shoulder. She glanced over her shoulder, and saw the crowd of revelers leaving to take to the streets. “Looks like the coast is clear. Do you want to go back in and finish our drinks or…,” Irina trailed off, waiting for him to answer. @daniel

She said that she hadn't even thought of the Ring tied to a dog's collar, he kind of wished he hadn't said it out loud, but it was too late. She had a good point about raising a dog together, then it would be like a family affair. But an intimate one. Plus, he liked dogs. But he kind of thought the first step to that would be living together... he hadn't actually told her yet that Maria was moving out on the first of the year. He didn't say anything further on the topic of the dog though, just nodded about eloping. "Yes," he said, pointing to her face, "that's a plan I like." As she spoke of his ambition, she talked about the Triwizard tournament and quidditch, and he shrugged. Maybe she was right, maybe he was more ambitious than he really thought he was. The more he looked back on his past academically and sports-wise he knew that was true. He kind of blushed a little at the thought of that, and the fact that she had called him out on it. But then she asked if he would like to go in and finish their drinks or leave, and he just nodded. "No, no. Let's go finish them. We still got to ask about that room." Maybe it was the emotions of that proposal or the talk about their future and her showing she knew him better than he knew himself, whatever it was he had the intense urge to kiss her. So he leaned forward and did just that, keeping his hands at his sides. Irina Rose Krum

Irina chuckled again; she had a feeling Dan would immediately like the idea of eloping. Less people, less emotions to deal with, so that he could actually enjoy himself during the event instead of being fed a bulldozer full of emotions. “Right, back inside then before we freeze-” she began, but was cut off when he leaned forward to kiss her. Surprised at first, she then immediately welcomed the kiss, cupping her hands on his chin and closing her eyes. Breaking off after a moment, she smiled slightly. “You do surprise me sometimes,” she told him softly, taking his hand and guiding him back into the pub. Their drinks were thankfully still there, and miraculously not cleared by the bartender as she had been busy with the departing revelers, so Irina picked her mug back up and took a sip. “Still warm at least,” she said cheerfully. She looked around, wondering who exactly to ask for a room. “Do you see your mums’ friend anywhere?” she asked, looking back at him. @daniel

She cupped his chin as he kissed her, and he leaned forward a little more. Affectionately, she told him that he sometimes surprised her. He didn't say anything to that, it seemed like a nice enough way to wrap up the kiss without him ruining it by saying something stupid. Once inside, they got to work on their drinks again, which were still warm as she pointed out. She asked if he saw his mother's friend anywhere, and Daniel sat up a little looking around too. He pressed his lips to the side in thought. "No, I don't see her. but it's cool, I'll go ask that dude over there," he suggested taking another sip of his drink before setting it down and getting up to walk through the pub. He returned, and gave her a big thumbs up with both hands. "They actually have several rooms available, they said that a lot of people are apprehensive about staying in hogsmeade since hogwarts has been kind of a mess the past year... either way, we have a room," he reached for his mug, sitting down and lifting it in a toast like motion before taking a big swig.
