Natalie loved the sound of dragons from above, it was a sound that she got quite used too over the past few years since she had gone back to work as a magical veterinarian at a dragon reserve. The dragons on her reserve we’re well taken care of, which meant that they were allowed to fly freely within the forcefield around the reserve. They had handlers to watch them and staff to tend to their care. She turned her head up as a wave of glee washed over her at the sight. They were magnificent beasts. But then she realized where she was. And her heart nearly stopped. Dragons, in Hogsmeade? This wasn’t usual and couldn’t be good. She had come to the village with her husband on a nice little afternoon out. She suspected that her children would be around, but Charlie had just ran over to a shop to say hello to a friend who owned it, she couldn’t find him now. The dragons were swooping in and Natalie faced a dilemma. She never wanted to harm a dragon, but, there were people around who were right in harm's way. There weren’t protective charms here to block the breath or claws from coming too close to the humans. After a second of time wasted in debate with herself, she sighed to herself. People were more important. Unfortunately. She pulled out her wand and rushed into the crowd. “Try to take cover, get inside!” she yelled, trying to usher people away.

It was supposed to be a normal day at the Winter Festival in Hogsmeade. Louis had gone home for the holidays, partly to be with both of his sisters - Hogwarts Christmas was just too weird without the two of them there if he was honest - but he had also been set up on a blind date. The girl, Sari, had been quite nice and the date itself had gone rather well. It was weird to be thinking of dating again after Georgie however. He had talked a little to his mother about the feeling, but Fleur had a very different experience when it came to relationships. She was a quarter veela after all, and men simply had fallen at her feet - including, if rumors were true, his own Uncle Ron when they were teenagers. But Louis had not come to the Festival today to get lost in his own thoughts about dating and relationships - he had come to have fun. A roar broke into his train of thought, and Louis felt...excitement. That sounded like a dragon! He didn’t know why someone would bring a dragon into Hogsmeade, but obviously it had to be a baby dragon, otherwise...Louis’ thoughts trailed off as he looked to the sky. A giant Hebridean black dragon was soaring through, flames curling around its’ snout. A look to the left, and a second dragon joined the first. Louis broke out in a grin. “ Cool!” he exclaimed. Then he heard the screams. People were rushing around like mad men, pushing others out of the way to take cover. The dragon up above screeched and dove towards the people, fangs snapping as it got dangerously close to overtaking a gaggle of girls around his age. “Bloody hell,” he swore, pulling out his wand and rushing towards the scene of the action. This was what he wanted to do after he graduated, after all, and he wanted to help. Immediately, he spotted a familiar, blonde woman - his aunty Natalie. “Aunty Nat!” he yelled to her, throwing up a shield from his wand to protect from falling debris. “What can I do to help?” he added, his voice nearly drowned out by the dragons’ roars. @natalie

Natalie hated every second of this. Not that she thought that people were particularly enjoying it, but she hated it on all sides. She wasn’t sure that anyone else here, besides her husband, wherever he was, cared at all about the dragons. While watching what was happening now, it was almost hard for her to care about the dragons. She saw one sweeping down towards a group of girls and without hesitation, cast a shield charm around them. The dragon’s claws scratched the charm and then it flew up again, she yelled at the group to get inside right as the boy approached her. Her nephew, Louis. Her first instinct was to tell her nephew to get inside and take cover, but, on second thought, she knew him and she vaguely knew what he was capable of, but more importantly, she knew that he wanted to work with dragons too. He asked what he could do to help and Natalie sighed. “I guess the best thing we can do is get them to try and leave…” After they left, she could try to get word to the refuge that kept them that they were loose, though she was sure that they would have figured that out by now. Upon closer look, they weren’t her dragons, her dragons didn’t hurt humans, at least not without reason. There were harmful creatures. “But until we can scare them off, do what we need to protect the humans.” Humans were more important. Damnit! “I think it’s best to get everyone inside and then cast shields around the buildings. Then, those that can, can handle the dragons.” she added.

Louis breathed an internal sigh of relief when his aunt Natalie did not object to him helping her. He had been ready to put up more of a fight, but his aunt had always been supportive of his career path intentions, along with Uncle Charlie. It was to them that he had first confided in wanting to go in the direction of dragonology, seeing as they worked with the beasts on a regular basis. He also had wanted to get an insiders’ opinion, so that he knew he would be prepared for when he graduated. It seemed his chance to get some real world experience was happening much sooner than anticipated however, and Louis was determined to take a stand and help. “Right,” he agreed with a curt nod, and began shepherding people away from where the dragons were currently circling, telling them to get underground for cover as fast as possible, and where the best points of Apparition were to get themselves to safety if they could do so. As soon as the area began to clear, Louis raced back up to Natalie. “Should we cast the Shield Charms together? It’ll make them stronger right?” he asked her breathlessly, eager to double up the protection on the scared civilians. @natalie

Natalie was glad that her nephew was listening to her and being smart about all of this rather than try to run off and start throwing offensive dueling charms around with the hopes of hitting a dragon hard enough to get him to fly away. They had to remain reasonable, and there seemed to be enough of an attempt at actually fighting the dragons already. Up ahead she could see blue and red streaks coming out of the ends of wands and hitting the poor creatures all over. Her heart broke to see such a sight. Seriously misunderstood creatures, they were. She nodded at Louis’ suggestion for them to try and cast a shield charm together to make it stronger. “Good thinking.” she agreed, in the heat of the moment, and with all of her moral qualms regarding this situation, her brain was starting to feel a bit stunned. “Towards that shop.” she told him, nodding to one that was quickly filling up with bystanders, who were being ushered in by professors and other adults she recognized. “On three.”
