27TH DECEMBER 2024
Spending the day alone yesterday in Hogsmeade was somewhat eventful for the Goyle girl. Spending the first half of her day alone, she eventually bumped into Nate, a Sixth year like herself but in the Slytherin house, where Bryelle’s parents wished for her to be in. The day spent alongside him was brief but enjoyable, even if he was truly quiet. But Bryelle realised she sought out more adventures alone. It was something simple but strange, to have more fun by yourself and eventually speak to more people. But regardless, Bryelle hoped to have fun again today.
Craving a cinnamon bun when she first arrived, the brunette pushed past people as she chewed on the soft pastry treat, weaving her way through the festival - looking for something to do. But when Bryelle almost bumped into a familiar face, she held her hands out to prevent the collision from actually happening. ”I’m sorry…That would’ve been quite terrible.” She laughed breathlessly, a hand pushing light coloured hair away from her face. Looking up, blue eyes widened at the person before her. Surely she knew her from Hogwarts, but her name was just on the tip of her tongue. ”Gryffindor…Right?”

Samira had a busy day planned, and she was thankful that most of those plans would allow her to see people she knew from school. She had barely returned from prayers with her grandmother and changed into her usual clothing before she was off again, into Hogsmeade to run some errands.
The winter festival had been going on for a few days, though she was grateful that the pre-Christmas rush was over. It was crowded, but crowds themselves weren't too much of a problem. The problem was that Sami had to remain on her guard. Walking around Hogwarts anymore was one thing, but being out in Hogsmeade around the holidays meant increased chances of running into people she really didn't want to see.
Usually, "running into people" was more of a figure of speech. She hadn't been walking around the village for very long, however, when she narrowly missed walking into another girl with a cinnamon bun in her hand. What was funny was that Sami recognized the girl who had almost bumped into her as soon as she saw her, yet she couldn't place why she looked so ridiculously familiar.
Even as the girl apologized to her, Samira was trying to figure out how she knew her.
"Gryffindor… Right?"
That explained it. She could have sworn she had seen the girl before! "Yeah," Sami confirmed with a nod. "Seventh-year. You?"

With the Hogsmeade festivities in mind and thankfully a collision avoided, Bryelle was rather thankful to bump into a familiar face. The days prior were filled with unfamiliar faces all around, considering the Christmas rush and the need of entertainment. But the Goyle knew her guilty pleasures and even loyalties lied with the sweet taste of those Cinnamon buns. With the apologies said and done, Bryelle beamed once she earned a response, confirming her assumptions.
”Sixth year!” She chimed as a response, smiling in the girl’s direction. ”You must know my best friend then. Lily. Lily Potter.” While Lily was one year above Bryelle herself, the two bonded rather well — with Lily giving the brunette a new insight on being carefree and what not. Screw stress. ”The name’s Bryelle.” She said, sticking out her free and definitely not sticky hand, while the other clutched tightly onto the pastry goodness.
”And you are?”

"Sixth year! You must know my best friend then. Lily. Lily Potter."
Samira nodded her head. "Yeah," she said. Even if she weren't in the same House and year as her, who at Hogwarts didn't know Lily Potter? Lily was famous because of her family, for one thing, but she was also legendary with regard to the parties she hosted. Somehow even the school staff were okay with them, as long as they didn't get too wild.
"The name's Bryelle."
The name rang a bell. Samira had heard that name before; she knew she had. She returned the handshake, still trying to work out how she knew that name. Of course she had heard it around—especially if the girl was close to Lily Potter—but that wasn't it.
Bryelle… Samira didn't know the girl's surname for certain, but she thought—as crazy as it was—that Bryelle, the girl with whom she was speaking, was related to Nefe somehow. She almost cursed aloud at that realization but stopped short of doing so.
"And you are?"
"I'm Sami," she answered, giving Bryelle the same name by which she had gone for all of her years at Hogwarts. Merlin, she hoped that she had been wrong about the younger girl's being a relative of her ex-girlfriend.

Bryelle Goyle found herself grinning rather wide. It was always nice to meet Lily’s other friends, to somewhat compare them to the Potter girl herself. Lily was usually rather wild, the complete opposite from her brothers and her family overall, and always seemed to host the strangest and usually the best kind of parties. But Lily was also generally known for her terrible academic scores. She felt bad for her friend, knowing that she could do so much if she really just paid attention.
As the two shook hands, Bryelle couldn’t help but notice how…Puzzled the girl seemed to be. Bryelle knew her name was a rather strange one, especially considering how it was pronounced was incredibly different from how it was spelled. Thanks Mum and Dad. Though, when the fellow Gryffindor revealed her own name, everything seemed to…sink in. The Goyle knew exactly who the girl before her was. While she had never met ‘Sami’ before, Cousin Nefe once spoke of an ex with a similar name, especially during the holidays in which the distant family seemed to come together. Intrigued, Bryelle found herself asking more questions and understood a lot more of their relationship by the end of it.
Withdrawing her hand to then cross her arms, a dark brow rose while a smirk formed on the young Goyle’s lips. ”Nice to meet you…Sami.” Oh boy, was she gonna use this to her advantage.

The other girl, Bryelle, smiled at her widely, and Sami didn't think anything strange about it. It was polite, and it wasn't as though they didn't have mutual friends with one another, considering their being in Gryffindor and a year apart. It was normal, at least until it began to hit Samira that—wait a minute—maybe she had known who Bryelle was, and maybe it wasn't in the most positive way ever. (It would have been, at one point, if Nefe hadn't ripped her heart out of her chest and spit on it for good measure.)
Bryelle pulled her hand away from the handshake that she had initiated and crossed her arms. If that told Samira anything, it was that her fellow Gryffindor had also heard her name before. Given the fact that she and Nefe had not ended things on the most spectacular terms, that was an excellent way to make a first impression. Perhaps more accurately, Sami wanted an out. She didn't need more drama, especially not when she was still closeted outside of school.
No, unfortunately, she would have to play along with the idea that it was simply a pleasure to have run into Bryelle—all whilst completely dying on the inside. It would have to do, which is why she didn't flinch when the sixth-year gave her a knowing smirk.
"Yeah. Yeah, same," Sami nodded, forcing a smile and trying to muster up some casual confidence in the face of what would probably be blackmail, knowing her luck. It wasn't easy. "Enjoying the festival?" she asked. If she acted as though it was nothing, then it would stay that way, wouldn't it?

The smile upon the Goyle’s lips was one filled with mischief. Though the good thing about it all is the expression upon Bryelle’s face is that she never truly gave it away. While she was confident she knew who ‘Sami’ was, the brunette had no intention to let her know of it. For now, she felt it was best to allow Samira to assume the two of them had potentially met before as pass-buyers, considering the two of them shared a House.
But maybe the sneer across her face and her arms crossed potentially crushed the chance of keeping her knowledge of her secret. Nevertheless, Bryelle continued on as normal. Her arms uncrossed, resting by her side while one hand reached up, pushing long locks behind her and out of her face. The smile that seemed forced upon Sami’s lips only inched the corners of Bryelle’s lips a little higher.
”Yeah.” She breathed, turning her head to the side as she watched random people pass by her. Samira was one of them until this perfect moment. ”How about yourself? Met up with any friends?” She questioned, pale eyes resting back on the familiar face. ”Or even gone through all of the things Hogsmeade has to offer this year?” In the days she had spent in the festival and how it differed to last year, she simply couldn’t wait for the final day of the Snowball Fight. Everything was a little messy, but always a lot of fun.

"Yeah," Bryelle said of her enjoying the festival. "How about yourself? Met up with any friends?"
Had she met up with any of her friends since she had been freed from schoolwork for a short while? Not really, unless she were to count her cousin, Yasmiin, who attended WADA. She wasn't going to mention to Bryelle that she was planning on going out to get drunk later on, because spilling her secrets to someone with a direct line to Nefe somehow didn't sound like it would have a positive outcome.
"Or even gone through all of the things Hogsmeade has to offer this year?"
"I feel like that would take months," Sami said with a slight laugh, "but it's really fun." It brought some excitement back into sleepy little Hogsmeade. Usually, the only time that happened was when she managed to get drunk and back to the castle without getting busted. "How are the cinnamon buns?" Since she'd nearly been hit by Bryelle's, she hoped they were good.

IT WAS FUNNY as to how Samira was playing it cool, but the change in their topic lightened the tone just a little bit more. The fellow Gryffindor’s comment led to Bryelle smiling as well, nodding in a form of agreement. It would probably be the only thing the two could…Actually agree on. ”Not essentially.” She remarked, folding her arms across her chest. ”Hogsmeade is big but…If you put your mind to it you’ll go through everything.”
Hogsmeade was filled with different things though, places to eat, sights to see and activities to join…Maybe to warm up to the other Gryffindor, she could suggest something for the two to do together. That was the idea until Samira questioned how the cinnamon buns tasted. ”They’re really good!” She grinned. ”Do you wanna try some?” Bryelle had more hidden within the small brown grocery-looking bag in her grasp. Though Samira wasn’t exactly her biggest fan right now, sharing treats had never really hurt anyone.
Maybe even then, the Goyle figured she could discover more things about Samira and Nefe’s previous relationship.

It was a piece of cake to pretend that things weren't totally and completely awkward between her and Bryelle, and Samira, admittedly, had Bryelle to thank for that. If the slightly younger girl had wanted to, she could have made their conversation extremely painful. Luckily, she seemed to have taken the hint—or was just really good at playing along. In any case, Sami was glad that she wouldn't have to make up some pathetic excuse to run off and possibly avoid Bryelle once they were back at Hogwarts.
Bryelle expressed that Hogsmeade was big, but it wasn't impossible to see everything. ("If you put your mind to it," as she said.) Sami nodded. Relatively speaking, she thought Hogsmeade was pretty tiny—and overcrowded with festival attendees—but she understood Bryelle's point. If she really wanted to, she probably could have made it around to all of the vendors. She had no plans to, but she could have.
Responding to her question with a grin, Bryelle said that the cinnamon buns were really good. To Sami's shock, she even offered to let her try some.
Not having seen anything to suggest that Bryelle had tampered with the cinnamon buns that she had in her bag, Sami nodded. "Oh, sure! Thanks." It was a free cinnamon bun, and it wasn't going to kill her for taking up Bryelle's offer. She waited for Bryelle to hand one to her, out of politeness, rather than reaching in and taking one.

HOGSMEADE WAS FILLED with small knick-knacks, corners and funky looking streets that the Goyle had taken a liking of. Between them things were different. The tension and awkwardness between the two Gryffindors was easy to cut even with the bluntest of knives, but Bryelle had no intention to bite the bullet so early. Even if she had given it away earlier with a snide smirk or strange facial expression. In an attempt to keep their…Minor friendship or whatever this blossoming conversation was — going — Bryelle smiled at the other girls nod as well as her excitement for the pastry treat.
Bryelle’s hand unwrapped the brown bag and pushed up one of the buns from the bottom, so a part of it peaked out, allowing Samira to grab one. At least underneath there was another bun for the Goyle to snack on. ”No worries.” She smiled. Deciding to go just a little further, perhaps to hit the nail on the head or whatever the phrase was, while Bryelle waited for the girl to reach into the bag before speaking out. ”So…Sami…Have any plans for later today? Maybe meet up with a loved one? Buying gifts?”

"No worries."
Bryelle unwrapped the bag in which her cinnamon buns were being held, pushing one up from the bottom of the bag so that she wouldn't have to touch it before Samira did. Once it was within her reach without its falling out of the opening in the bag, though, Sami grabbed the bun by its top half, quickly bringing her other hand underneath it to keep from dropping it once she had pried the pastry out.
Sami was just about to thank the younger girl for the cinnamon bun when she started speaking again. "So… Sami…" Bryelle started, making it apparent to Samira that, aside from the goodwill gesture of the cinnamon bun, she wasn't completely off the hook. "Have any plans for later today? Maybe meet up with a loved one? Buying gifts?"
Aside from thinking about going clubbing, with which she didn't really want Bryelle to interfere, Sami didn't really have any plans besides the errands she was meant to be running. "I went to the masjid with my grandmother earlier," she noted, "and now I've got to buy some stuff." She shrugged. It was nothing too exciting. "Some more quills, picking up something for my dad at Dervish & Banges…"

PALE EYES WATCHED as a cheerful Sami took the cinnamon bun from where the Goyle unwrapped it, pausing at the sound of her question. Lips twitched at the response, nodding in understanding. ”Sounds cool.” She commented, but the wonder of what a masjid was floated in her mind. Religion nor culture was a big thing in the Goyle's life especially with parents of her own, they simply cared for the purity of their blood and ensuring their children stuck to the traditions many generations had done. They broke every aspect of that dream simply with their behaviour as children. Bryelle knew if it wasn't for Hogwarts, she wouldn't have a drop of culture swimming inside of her brain. And the drop was a rather generous one. "That's cute. Any idea what to grab for him? Maybe I can steal your idea and use it for my own father."
Whenever Bryelle felt the need to actually purchase a gift for her parents, she would actually do so. Money wasn't exactly tight for the girl with a janitor and a troll security trainer as parents, but Bryelle knew it was best to save her Galleons for a rainy day. Though, any day by her parents side was a rainy one. The jig the brunette held, knowing that Sami was her cousins ex-girlfriend was proving to be rather tiresome, especially as the remarks they both had for one another seemed to be...running thin. Bryelle cleared her throat though, flipping her hair to one side, fingers picking apart at the cinnamon bun hidden under the one 'Sami' had taken for herself. "So Samira! What direction is Dervish & Banges again?" ...And now the cat was out of the bag.

"Sounds cool," said Bryelle about what she had done with the earlier part of her day, though it sounded like one of those things that was said out of politeness rather than out of any genuine interest. Samira couldn't exactly blame the Gryffindor there; it got a little bit boring and repetitive after a while, and it wasn't like there were too many magical people around. It was a family obligation to Samira more than it was anything else that she went for prayers, mostly for her grandmother's sake.
Bryelle asked if she had any idea of what she was going to be picking up for her father at Dervish and Banges so that maybe she could steal the idea, and Sami shook her head with a laugh. "No, no, it's just errands," she corrected. "It's not a present for him." Not unless she wrapped up a repaired Dark Detector with some paper and a ribbon, that was, but her dad probably would have wondered what she wanted from him in response to that. It wasn't as though Sami was known for grand gestures in her family. "If your dad likes, um, Sneakoscopes and sh*te, though," Sami giggled, "some of the ones they've got are really nice?"
"So Samira! What direction is Dervish & Banges again?"
The laughter that Sami had had when Bryelle had assumed that what she was buying was some sort of present for the holidays returned. With all of the things going on for the season, though, she supposed that it was reasonable to get turned around. "It's just down this way," she explained, calming her laughter momentarily and gesturing in the direction of the shop. This was too funny.

ERRANDS WERE ENOUGH TO KEEP Bryelle interested, especially since it meant she would spend more hours outside, away from the irritation that her parents brought. She felt silly though, discovering that Dervish & Banges wouldn’t have anything up to her…father’s standards. Considering the moron he is. Smiling at Sami’s responses, she shook her head lightly. ”My Dad’s too dumb to enjoy anything in that store. But I’d find it interesting to get him something he doesn’t understand.” As cruel as it sounded, it was always fun watching her parents fluster around like a bunch of toddlers. The Goyle always wondered what her toddler life was like, if she was demonic to Renard the same way he supposedly was to their parents.
Confusion rose in her expression, while her nostrils flared slightly. Hadn’t Samira realised yet? That the brunette herself had caught on? Nodding in understanding, her body moved a little faster before her mind caught up in tune, the lower half of her turning before her head dragged on. ”So Samira.” She began as they walked side by side. ”Any partners or ex-partners I should keep an eye out for in Hogwarts? Cute people in general?”
