It didn't take much more discussion before they jumped into the action. Joe would have much rather been ducking for cover and looking for his sister, but in the moment this was what seemed what was right. Despite him never having a real knack for charms, he had basic knowledge and confidence in his skills. There was no other choice. This would be the first time he ever got to use the skills in a real life situation to defend himself and others.
As Dom immediately started for the family in the higher compartment. With a swish and flick, he bellowed, "Protego!" while circling around the ferris wheel, a blue wave surrounded the perimeter of the ferris wheel. He tried to stay focused, eyes scanning around for the dragon. After he was finished with the protection charm, he figured they had a few minutes before it would wear off. Joe started for the compartment adjacent to the one that Dom was helping, quickly unloading bodies one by one with the levitation charm. A couple of samaritans were able to climb out of the lower compartments without any help. When Dom asked how he was, he kind of dismissed the question. It didn't matter. He knew that she was fine too because she was communicating with him. "I'm fine." he said, hating when anyone fussed over him, he didn't need any ~protecting. Joes green eyes surveyed the large wheel, noting one more party that needed assistance, "We have one more compartment to go, keep and eye on the dragon--" another blood curdling roar broke out from behind them. "Oh, f-- there's more than one!" Joe exclaimed, turning to Dom. "Protego Maxima!" he shouted again, there was no being too safe, he wasn't sure how strong the protective shields would be.
The second dragon was now making its way toward them.

She could hear Joe working behind her at first, then beside her and Dom was glad that she felt like she could trust him. It was an interesting thing, especially since the two didn't really know one another all that well. The thing was, she liked Joe. He was easy to talk to and fun and even though she'd only been with him a handful of times, she trusted him to help her and not fail her. At her question, he answered that he was fine. He sounded a little annoyed, but she didn't say anything in response, rolling her eyes at him. Boys could be so stupid sometimes, but she'd cut him some slack. This was an intense situation, after all. He told her there was one more compartment left and Dom nodded, getting her last family out when she heard Joe shouting that there was more than one. "You take care of it, I'm going to get the last family out!" she shouted back. She knew she couldn't leave him to fight the dragon alone, but it would only take a short time for her to save the last family, then they could use their brooms to dodge. "Crap," she muttered, quickly levitating the children and then the parents down. At least their compartment was close to the ground. She heard Joe behind her, trying to do a bigger protection charm just as she lowered the first parent. She rushed to get the father to the ground, then turned.
The dragon was heading straight for Joe. She flew closer to him, aiming her wand and shooting confundus and stunning charms at the dragon. "Come on Joe!" she said as she zipped past him. "They're all out. Let's find some people to fight with." Now that she didn't have to worry about other people, she and Joe could battle dragons properly, with others.

Joe wasn't really sure what to do next. All he could do was shout out as many defensive spells that he could remember off the top of his head, while circling the ferris wheel. It was really difficult in such a high pressure moment, but he didn't want to let Dom down. Well, he mostly didn't want to die, but he truly wanted to be as helpful as he could since he was capable. One of the dragons took off towards the other side of the street, crashing into cart vendors and spurting more fire out of its mouth over rooftops.
They flew tightly side by side, but when Dom suggested that they should go find more people to fight with, his stomach dropped. "I need to find my sister." he told her quickly, openly distressed about the matter.

Joe was definitely someone Dom was glad to have around right now. She was glad that he was helping her, and that he seemed to be quite competent with helping her. Not to mention that he was a good flier, which was in and of itself quite impressive to her. Dom loved it when she was around people who knew what they were doing on a broom. He did a good job at keeping the dragon off of them while Dom got the last family out and then they were flying around together.
Her eyes widened when he mentioned his sister. He had a sister? She couldn't remember if they'd ever talked about family before. "Do you want to fly around and see if we can spot her outside?" Dom asked. She was more than willing to try and help him find his sister ... but if his sister wasn't outside, she definitely wanted to help others fight against the dragons. "What does she look like, Joe?" Dom's eyes started scanning the crowds below. It would help if she'd seen his sister before, but she'd do her best to help him anyway.

Joe was torn between helping people and finding Ashley. He knew that searching for her amongst the chaos would be counterproductive, so he chose to stick with Dom. He had a better chance with a partner and they made a good team thus far. When Dom pitched the idea of flying around to see if they could find her her shook his head. "No, we can fight until I see her." Joes eyes scanned the village below, squinting his eyes in an attempt to get a better look. Since she asked what she looked like, Joe swallowed, trying to hide his nervousness."She's blonde. I don't know what she's wearing right now, ugh, I'm a horrible escort." he grumbled, unable to surpass a joke somehow in the heat of the stressful moment.
As they hovered, Joe stayed close to Dom. "Lets take these dragons down..." he told her, readying himself for anything that could happen. Everything around him was smoking or on fire and there was screaming coming from all directions. Joe turned to her expectantly, hoping she had some sort of plan. "What do we do?"

Dom was a little surprised when Joe said that they shouldn't look for Ashley. It made sense, since people were running all over the place and there were dragons in almost every direction. It would probably be hard to find a specific person, but that didn't stop Dom from searching the crowds for anyone she might know. Was Riley down there somewhere? Or maybe her little brother? She couldn't spot either of them, but she also wasn't looking super closely. She glanced over at Joe when he said his sister was blonde. That was all? "Umm, what year is she? Is she like a first or second year?" Maybe they'd already talked about this, but Dom didn't think so. There were lots of blonde people, but maybe it would help if she knew how old the girl was. She smiled, "It's all good. My little brother might be down there, and I have no idea what he's wearing. I'll let you know if I see a blonde looking around for someone." She was actually serious and hoped that Joe didn't think she was teasing.
It was comforting, the fact that Joe was still close to her. At least Dom wasn't doing this all on her own. She nodded, trying to figure out how they could help. "Look, there are a bunch of people fighting that dragon over there. Do you want to join them? We can see if we can help? And then maybe it'll be easier to see your sister if we're on the ground." She felt useless in the air, though what Dom really wanted was to help somehow.

Dom was being very helpful in the situation. He'd already come to terms that he wouldn't be finding his sister for a while, he just hoped that Ashley was okay. Then, Dom asked what year she was in. "She's a sixth year." he said, his eyes scanning the ground, nodding when she proposed the idea of helping the group of people on the ground. "Yeah, lets go." Joe agreed without hesitation. He never really felt the need to help someone he didn't know until now, but it was something he knew he had to do.
Joe dismounted the broom and slung it over his shoulder, armed with his wand in hand. He casted protective charms around the perimeter before sending off tiny explosions from the wand to disorient the creatures tearing through the village. They fought dragons with the group of witches and wizards for only Merlin knows how long. There were times they got split up temporarily, but Dom was always in Joes peripheral range. For some reason he felt very protective over her, but she had already shown she could take care of herself.
(we can end it with your final post ayyyy)

Joe explained that his sister was a sixth year. Okay, so she wasn’t a little kid then. Maybe that would make it easier to spot her in the crowd? Still, with not much else to go on, Dom didn’t think she saw the blonde that Joe was searching for. He agreed to join her on the ground, helping others fight against the dragons and Dom smiled over at him, definitely impressed. Even though he was obviously worried about his sister, Joe was pausing his search for her in order to help others. She liked that. They battled the dragons with the group of wizards they’d found first, most of the time fighting side by side, but not always. It was during one of those times when they were separated that Dom got the message from Vic. Something was happening at Azkaban. Apparently this was a diversion, which meant Dom had to get out of here. She glanced over to Joe, not wanting to leave him, but at the same time she knew he could take care of himself. She slid through the crowd, over to him. “I have to go … but I’ll come back and find you as soon as I can, okay? It’s an emergency.” Dom wasn’t asking permission, but she figured he would noticed if she suddenly disappeared without saying anything. Also, she felt bad running out on him, since they were doing this together. She got on the tip of her toes and kissed his cheek. “Don’t die,” she teased with a quick wink before hurrying away and apparating to the prison, her broomstick still in tow. Hopefully this wouldn’t take too long. --- the end --- @joseph
