Muggle airports were freaking crazy! Lily had always enjoyed going to them, but she had never landed in Los Angeles before, and that was one of the biggest airports she had ever seen. Getting to her plane on time had been a hassle – there were so many distractions and things to take into account on her way there that she made it with five minutes to spare when boarding. The goons at security had to pat her down because she kept going through the metal detector and forgetting to take rings and other things off of her person. Not like it was her fault they tried rushing people through it faster than they could toss their belongings into the plastic bins. But she eventually made it through and on to her plane, and from there it was a quiet flight to LA.
Or rather, it should have been. The poor stewardess made the mistake of offering Lily coffee, which was a big no-no, and from there things started to break down. Luckily it was a larger plane, which allowed her to ‘stretch her legs’ and chat up the other passengers in the bar area (despite being too young to drink on the place). Most were businessmen who thought it was funny that the little red-head was flying alone, initially trying to brush off her questions by telling her to go back to her parents. They soon found out that was impossible, and Lily spent the remainder of the flight talking their ears off about anything and everything she could. That was what they got for doubting her. She made sure not to mention that her mum had no clue she was running off to LA for the rest of the Christmas break. Well, she probably did once the plane was in the air, but at that point it was too late for Lily to head back. The letter she had left had been placed on her pillow right before she skedaddled off to the airport. She couldn’t wait to see the look on her mum’s face when she returned.
Eventually the plane landed and then it was on to the really fun part: finding Adrian at the airport. She had no idea how this one worked, and he had only given a brief description of it before heading back himself. Her backpack had been charmed to carry all of her clothes and wand, so there was no need to go to the baggage claim. Apparently he was going to meet her at the terminal exit, and from there they would go and do whatever people in California did. Wandering out of what she assumed was the right area, Lily stood awkwardly in the middle of the crowd, looking around for her Adrian.
