He knew exactly what he was insinuating by her casual question and he told her that he was off in an hour. That was rather convenient and she couldn’t help but smirk when he said it. He asked if she was going to be around because he could use the company and she tilted her head as if in thought, going through her plans mentally before confirming to stay. She didn’t have anything else to do until way later into the night and she knew that. She had already finished with class for the day and wasn’t in a hurry to go home. “That depends - are you gonna make me another drink?” she asked, biting her lip. She only had one so far, and she didn’t need to be drunk, but she wouldn’t say no to another either.

THE HOUR COULDN'T COME TO END FAST ENOUGH. Frankie was agitated from the tedious and unfulfilling bar work. Lucy was a distraction, a way out for just long enough for him to forget why he was stuck back where he started all over again. She had deliberated slightly, and a part of him wondered if she was going to say no. He wouldn't have been too offended, Frankie had been rejected before, but apparently he wasn't the only one who needed to be distracted.
"I'll do you one better," Frankie said as he whipped off the apron tied around his waist, the work shirt pulled over his head to reveal an off-white cotton t-shirt underneath. He was a little sweaty and he probably stank of spilled booze, but he didn't care. He came around the bar and slid in beside Lucy. "I'll buy you a drink this time." His smile was crooked and common, but for the first time since he'd started his shift, he begun to relax.
