Anna was starting to be in a better place. She still wasn't leaving the apartment, but she was eating again and she could sleep, though she could never sleep long. At least it was better than the last while. Those first few days after they found Oscar's ring were quite scary. She didn't think she wanted to move on and to be entirely honest, she still wasn't sure if she wanted to, but she was making an effort now despite the feeling that everything felt numb to her. The thing was, she missed Oscar. She couldn't keep herself from thinking of him, even though she knew that what she was doing wasn't healthy She wanted him to come back, even though she knew the chance of that was slim to none. Today she was alone. Lucy had to go to work and no one was here, which was fine. It was just hard for her to think about something else, other than Oscar. She was sitting on the couch, trying to watch a movie instead of think. It was kind of working, but it couldn't distract her entirely. When she heard a knock on the door, she rose to her feet and moved to the door, glad for the distraction. When she opened the door, her eyes widened in surprise. HARRY JAMES POTTER

Jan. 1st Making the rounds of everyone he wanted to see was quite a task, and he knew he wouldn't even be able to get to all of them. His own daughter wasn't even in the country, which was a whole other thing. Choosing to visit Anna wasn't an easy decision to make, but she needed him. She had been through a terrible ordeal, as far as his familial sources told him, and he felt wretched enough that he wasn't even at her wedding in the first place... the least he could do was try to be there for her now. He didn't wear his Ron disguise right now, because Ron was out and about today so he didn't want them to get mixed up. Instead he wore face paint that hid his features, making it look like he was dressing up for some comic convention or something and he was an alien race. He went to Annas apartment, knocked on the door, and smiled slightly when she opened the door. "Can I come in?" he asked. She was close enough that she'd recognize him under the paint. @annelise

It was Uncle Harry. Anna could hardly breathe, she was so surprised. What was he doing here? When had- she thought he was dead. She remembered distinctly talking to her Aunt Ginny a few weeks ago and they had both mentioned Harry and his absence. She could tell that it hurt her aunt much more than she let on. Anna hadn't really thought of that much the past while. She'd been too focused on her own pain, though now she thought about it, their situations were a bit similar, except Harry had apparently returned now. Anna stood there, frozen until he asked to come in and then quickly jumped, nodding. "Of course! Come in," she ushered him in quickly, shutting the door behind him. She glanced at her Uncle for another second before wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. She didn't care if he wanted it or not, she needed it. "I can't believe you're here, we thought you were gone forever," she said as she pulled away, looking up at him again. She almost still doubted that Uncle Harry was standing here. Was her mind just truly breaking now? HARRY JAMES POTTER

Harry's smile grew as she took him in, but he waited in silence for her to invite him in. He moved quickly, but before he knew it she was hugging him. He laughed a little, and gave her a tight hug right back. She said she couldn't believe he was there and he nodded, keeping his hands on her shoulders when she pulled away. "I thought I was gone forever too, a few times. But I'm here now," he promised.
He squeezed her shoulders and leaned forward a little, "now, we can talk about me later. Let's talk about you," he said. "But first," he let her go, and pulled his wands out to lose all the blinds. Then he pointed at his face and the Star Trek makeup vanished. He stretched his mouth, "that's better."

It felt the same as she always remembered it, a hug from Uncle Harry, but it was different now in the way that Anna didn't just want the hug. She needed it. While she never would have complained about him not being here for her, she needed him. Even if he didn't feel the same, she felt the closest to him. He was the one who understood about the Triwizard Tournament, who'd helped her when she'd been upset about fights with her father when she was younger. He was the one she felt the most connected to, until he left. She couldn't even think about that anymore, because he was back. She started trembling a little, his hands on her shoulders when he said that he was here now. "I missed you," she said softly, her eyes watering. Merlin, she didn't want to be crying right now, but she couldn't seem to help it. He said that they should talk about her, closing the blinds and removing the makeup before turning back to her. Anna smiled ever so slightly before she looked down to the ground. "Oscar is g-gone," Anna muttered, her lip quivering as she tried to gain control of her emotions again. He probably thought she was behaving like a child. Anna couldn't help it though. She felt like a child. HARRY JAMES POTTER

Anna said she missed him and he nodded, a firm look of support on his face. "I missed you, Anna," he assured her. The girl needed assurance from family right now, he knew that. He'd lost plenty of people before and he understood what it was like. Not a spouse, thank goodness... but in a way he did lose Ginny for a moment when her memories were taken from her.
She said Oscar was gone, her emotions bubbling up. He kept a hand on her shoulder and led her toward the couch, sitting down and encouraging her to sit beside him. "I know. I heard," he paused, giving her shoulder a squeeze. "It's all right to be broken, Anna. I'm not sure I'm ever not broken." It was normal for Harry to kind of sound like he was talking nonsense, but he hoped it made sense.

Uncle Harry said that he missed her and Anna believed him. She didn't have a reason not to. Maybe coming from someone else, it wouldn't have had the same feeling behind it, but from Uncle Harry? She was glad that he actually told her he missed her. She had to close her eyes when she started to get emotional. Part of her felt ashamed, but then again this was Uncle Harry. If there was someone she didn't need to worry about her image with, it was him. She let him lead her toward the couch and sat down beside him. She bit her lip when he told her it was okay to be broken. "Does it ever stop? I feel like I'm going to crumble into a million pieces, like the only thing holding me together is a tiny string. All I need it one thing to touch it and I'll never be able to pull myself together again." She could have kept going, trying to explain how she felt, but Anna shoved her fist into her mouth, biting her knuckles to relieve some of the tension as she waited for his words. She didn't know what to think anymore. Anna had no idea what to do. She was just glad that he was here to talk to her. HARRY JAMES POTTER

She asked if it would ever stop and explained how she was feeling, being held together by a tiny string that could be destroyed with one pull. He nodded as she explained, then stopped when he was ready to speak. "No, it doesn't go away," he said, hoping she would appreciate the honesty. A lot of people had lied to Harry was he was younger saying that everything would be alright, not telling him the Orders secrets, etcetera. It made him angry back then and it made him angry now. He wasn't right to hide things from those who were suffering just to try and make them feel better. Maybe sometimes it was best to break bad news gently, of course, but it still had to be broken.
"But it softens, and people fill the gap with warmth and kindness. It's never fully gone, but it can be used to your advantage. You can remember the good feelings and take them with you. It takes time though, and touch need to be okay with that."

Anna watched her Uncle carefully as she waited for his response. She closed her eyes for a moment when he told her it didn't go away. She knew that, at least mentally. She just didn't really want to accept it. Anna took a deep breath to steady herself before opening her eyes and looking back up to him, nodding the tiniest bit. At least he wasn't telling her everything would be fine and that somehow Oscar would come back to her. At least he was trying to help her accept the truth, and she loved him for that. "Thank you Uncle Harry," she answered softly. "For being honest with me, and for coming to see me." That really meant more to her than she could explain. She'd received plenty of visitors the past while, but few of them knew her as well as her uncle. She bit her lip for a second before asking, "Do you ... think there's any chance he's still out there?" While she hated it when most people told her that he was, Anna wanted Harry's opinion of it. She knew that he'd give her his honest opinion, not just say whatever he thought would make her feel better. Part of her wanted it to be true, but she wasn't sure if that was something she should hope for or not. HARRY JAMES POTTER

She thanked him for coming and for being honest with her, and he nodded once. He didn't say anything further, for a few moments. Sometimes silence was the best medicine. But then she asked the question he had been dreading. She asked if there was any chance he was still out there. The problem with this question was that everyone had thought Harry was dead and he was indeed still out there... now if he had told her he thought Oscar wasn't still out there he would be crushing any hope she had. Hope that people had crushed in Ginny when he was gone. In all reality, he would rather Ginny's hope be gone and him return as a happy surprise than her hope be there and him never come back. But, was it too soon to treat Anna with such flatness in bluntness?
He considered quietly for a little longer, not necessarily realizing how long it was taking him to answer her. He finally made eye contact with her again and shook his head once. "Anna, I think it is very unlikely," he explained. "I think that it is important to understand that the ones we love never truly leave us," he quoted. "But as far as his physical being returning to you, I think the chance is very low. Possible, but very very low." He may have been a little too blunt, and perhaps could have beat around the bush a little more but that wasn't Harry's nature. Harry spoke flat out, he had wished more people had done that with him in his life so he didn't think it right for him to play games with someone else.

Anna watched her uncle carefully, waiting for his answer. She honestly didn't know what he was going to say, but she wanted to. After all, he just came back from the "dead". He was one of the only people she knew who would really have any idea about the probability of Oscar coming back. He took ages to answer. Anna didn't really mind. She just watched him, surprised at how nice it was to see him again. She knew she missed her uncle, but she didn't realize just how much until he was here in front of her. When his eyes met hers, she knew he was about to answer her. He shook his head and Anna took a deep breath to prepare herself for his words. She nodded as he explained that it was unlikely that Oscar would actually come back to her, though he also told her that Oscar would never truly leave her. Her eyes watered, but she appreciated his bluntness. She sniffled and nodded again. "Thanks for being honest with me," Anna answered, offering a weak smile. "I have people telling me I need to go after him more and search more, but I just ..." don't want to. Did that make her a bad person? She loved Oscar, but ever since she found his ring on the ground she felt like she'd lost him. Like, really lost him. Searching for him now would just make that worse, wouldn't it? HARRY JAMES POTTER

She sniffled, thanking him for being honest with her. She continued to say that people were telling her to go after him but she stopped. "You don't have to do that," he said firmly. Were people doing that to Ginny, too? Not letting her move on with life? If they were, he would not be amused by that fact. "If you feel, deep down, that you need to move forward than do. Don't let anyone else tell you what to do, even me," he added. He knew he was a bad example, having come back from the dead, but he would have told Ginny the same thing if she had asked him. Ginny had kept going with her life, and even though she was lucky enough to have her husband back Harry knew better than to think everyone came back.
Many, many people didn't.

Anna looked back up to Harry when he said she didn't have to go after Oscar, feeling a little bit of relief. Sure, if she had any sign that he was okay she would follow it, but she had nothing. Nothing but his wedding ring, which to her was a definite sign that something was wrong, as much as she didn't want to accept that. She nodded when he continued, telling her that she needed to do what she felt needed to be done. "Thank you," she whispered again. "I ... I'll think on that." It was an important decision, moving on or not, and she appreciated that Uncle Harry wasn't trying to convince her one way or the other. "How about you? Am I ... allowed to ask what happened? Why you disappeared?" She asked, a little relieved that she could try to change the subject. It was hard always talking about Oscar. HARRY JAMES POTTER

She thanked him, saying she'd think on it. She asked about him, if she was allowed to ask what happened to him. He took that as her wanting to talk about something else now, not that there was more to say about Oscar really. Harry took in a deep breath, nodding. "There's a new threat out there, I was trying to neutralize it," he explained. "I didn't want my family or anyone else in danger so I tried to do it quickly and discreetly... But I ran into some snags and it took a lot longer than expected... and I failed," he sighed. "Things are about to get much, much worse," he caught himself being so severe and cleared his throat, "but, on the upside, I'm back to get everyone involved in stopping it."

Anna was definitely relieved when her uncle let her change the subject. He nodded as he started to explain that he was trying to neutralize a threat and Anna's eyebrows furrowed. A threat ... was he talking about Elaine? But she wasn't a new threat. No, Anna had no idea what he was talking about, though she did have a feeling it was something that not many people knew about at all. He explained that it was supposed to be quick, but that things didn't work out the way he wanted, that he failed. She shivered when he said that everything was about to get worse. He explained why he was back and Anna sat a little taller. "What can I do?" she asked, for a moment forgetting about her struggles for the past few weeks. If something serious really was about to happen, she didn't want to sit by the sidelines. She wanted to help, especially if her family was involved in it. HARRY JAMES POTTER
